#the endless winter of my asoiaf reread

Every time I read AGOT I’m blown away by just how beautiful the writing in the opening prologue is.
The description of the wights and the last stand heroism of Waymar Royce is what drew me into the story in the first place.

jonerys fic recs
hey everyone! some might know, but ive decided to start making some jonerys ficrec lists for all of us in quarantine indefinitely. these are just some stories that i have read recently that id like to suggest! please feel free to request for more fics or even certain tropes you may want recs for. i have plenty more!
Format: Story title + rating + status + type
Ratings: G (General Audiences), T (Teen & Up), M (Mature) and E (Explicit)
Status: WIP denotes Work In Progress, which means the fic is incomplete. If the fic is complete, it will have a word count instead.
Type: Canonverse/Canon-divergent (in the GOT/asoiaf universe); Modern AU (Alternate Universe - Modern), Fix-it
+
Visit to Hell by confessa (@alwaysmyoriginalsin) (M, 14k, AU) - exactly how the title describes it. Jons a devil, Danys and angel, and they both are SOFT in a beautifully written star-crossed-love story.
Playground Love by TheScarletGarden for Elegantfirepoetry  (@thescarletgarden1990) (T, 18k, Modern AU) - BRO. bro. I love the growing-up-together tropes, and this one just takes the cake. Ive reread it too many times. *chefs kiss*
Winter Came (With Fire and Blood) by frombluetored (@clearsightedeyes) (T, 201k, fix-it) - GREAT fix-it, all the yes. I just recently found it after accidentally closing out of the tab a few months ago, but the chapters i read literally started to heal me from the finale.
The girl in my story has always been you by aliciutza, Dragon_and_Direwolf, TheScarletGarden for LustOnMyFingers( @adecila, @dragonanddirewolf, thescarletgarden1990)(E, 6k, Modern AU) - this one’s a new story, but i love it so and want to make sure everyone’s caught it. Writer!jon, librarian!dany, and the perfect mix of cuteness with smut. Yum.
A prayer whispered against her skin by TheScarletGarden (@thescarletgarden1990)(M, 2.8k, Canon-Divergent) - what we SHOULD'VE gotten post 8x03. clense your skin. (yes i know 50% of this list is scarlet)(no im not ashamed)
Take the Black by zavocado (G, 7k, Modern AU) - this was my secret santa gift from @zavocado ! its so fun and the perfect definition of coffeeshop au. Plus, roommates!
a soft but endless prayer by atetheredmind (@muttpeeta) (M, 1k, canon-compliant) on-the-road-to-winterfell shenanigans. Bless. This kind of fluff just hits the spot.
much love to all of the writers out there:) remember, dont be afraid to request for specific lists, or even just another rec list!

Three endings for Cersei better than dying:
1. Retires to Casterly Rock and gets a boy toy.
2. Forced to become a septa. They wanted to make her a silent sister but she wouldn’t shut up.
3. Becomes a hostage at Winterfell and spends the rest of her life annoying the Starks until she becomes their weird drunk aunt with bad life advice.

Listen, I just don’t like Septa Mordane.
She is a sycophant, a potential alcoholic, with a superiority complex that she takes out on both her charges that gave them both issues.
Arya never thought she could do anything right because of her, Sansa was called out any time she stepped one toe out of line.
Mordane is everything that Sansa antis project onto Sansa being.

The real beginning of the end for Ned Stark starts with him, injured, alone in the rain, clutching the dead body of one of his last friends.

The Lannister on the Rock at the end of the series should be Tysha.
No Tyrion, no other Lannisters, just her.

The Greyjoys are more important to the series proper than the Targaryens can hope to be.

Wylla was a wet nurse from Starfall, the Dayne household.  But she was at the Tower of Joy with Lyanna.
There was no other assistants or definitely no maester.
So the only thing I can believe is that Rhaegar left his pregnant teen runaway alone with only guards to keep her there while pregnant.
And when Arthur Dayne realized none of them knew how to care for a baby, let alone help a terrified orphan give birth to one, send for a single wet nurse to help assist though the whole thing.  They weren’t even going to assist her through it. Still no maester though.
And Rhaegar most likely didn’t care if Lyanna died in birth as long as his daughter survived it.

Never in s8 do we get to see how being a Targaryen affects Jon.
Like we see what it does for Dany, or Tyrion, or Varys, or Sam, maybe even Sansa and Arya a bit. But they’re not the important part in this reveal.
We never see Jon have to come to terms with this reveal or how it chances his view knowing that Targaryens are in his history now.
Part of Jon’s story should be having to find a balance between both sides but he never gets that. It’s just dropped in because it’s a plot point.
