The Bad Batch Season 3 so far: No character scenes, just plot, plot, plot.
There might be viewers who enjoy the abundant plot arc around the mystery of Omega’s purpose for Project Necromancer. However the lack of, what some people like to call, “filler” episodes has really ruined what I liked about The Bad Batch to begin with.
There is so much forward movement in the plot and unraveling the mystery of Omega’s blood that there has been no time for the characters to breathe and sit with what has happened to them in the last two seasons. There has been no room for the characters to actually TALK with each other without just talking about the plot.
No soft and sweet moments between Hunter and Omega, no cute downtime moments with Wrecker and Omega, absolutely no discussion of Tech’s death and the Batch’s grief, no character development for Echo, and no real time to flesh out the trauma Crosshair experienced on Tantiss. All around the characters are just hollow versions of themselves. Absolutely infuriating.
Not a lot of scenes, just plot.
It drives me crazy when Star Wars does this. In the end what makes me tune in every week are the characters. So when they cease to have a personality and are bodies just to forward the plot it makes it harder to want to tune in. I liked the moments of the Batch being a family, snarking at each other, having internal conflict with each other and facing their problems and trials together.
What we have this season are those emotional scenes constantly getting interrupted by this Mystery Box plot that we are forced to care about because they want to make the sequel trilogy make sense.
I get it. Saga/story continuity and all that but you can’t do that in one last season with 15 episodes and expect it to be amazing.

PART 2 - FLASH STRIKE (TBB SEASON 3) (SPOILERS)
Emerie walked in. Of course she did. The way my jaw D R O P P E D when the two made the dreaded Eye Contact. Oh, Echo. The 501st were never good at lying.
And Emerie's lil eyebrow raise has me worried.
"Echo." WHAT THE FUUUUUCK. "I-I was doing my job."
STOP. REDEMPTION ARC? EMERIE YOU'RE MAKING IT VERY VERY HARD TO HATE YOU.
wait stop his ears were such a jumpscare why didn't i think of that
Oh my god Emerie yesyesyes come to the liiiight.
Oh my stars. Unless we're getting a surprise part 2 I don't know how or what the hell the production team is gonna put us through. We have half an hour (potentially 1.25 hours from what I've heard) to wrap up this ENTIRE show.
So many things have been left unanswered. Is Wrecker alright? Did the Batch make it inside OK? Do Emerie and Echo find Omega and the others? Where is CX-2? What happened to him? Who will die in the finale, because it's Star Wars and we never get a happy ending?
and is tech really dead, or is he coming back?

Star Wars: The Bad Batch S3E13 "Into the Breach"
Very high tension episode split bewtween the two stories of Omega and the rest of the Bad Batch. The story of Omega in this I feel is really reminiscent of the prison break arc of Andor, which isn't a bad thing, it just shows how many story beats rhyme within Star Wars. The same can be said about the rest of the Bad Batch in this episode, where it felt like "A New Hope" in some places, infiltrating a base to get coordinates. With two episodes left, I wonder how things will wrap up.

Updated Canon Star Wars Shows Ranking
The Bad Batch's third and final season begins tomorrow! What better time to take stock of how the series is currently stacking up against the nine other canon series' in the Star Wars sag.
(As always, please feel free to sound off in the replies or reblogs with how wrong I am. I love hearing your thoughts.)
10. Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett
Tumblr media
Oscillating between dull and distracted, the original iconic bucket headed bounty hunter’s show displays Star Wars at its most shallow and routine. Despite claiming to be a Godfather-esque crime saga, The Book of Boba Fett feels oddly toothless and impersonal. In the process, the series does the ultimate disservice of making its title character less interesting at its conclusion than its outset. A great leading duo in Temuera Morrison and Ming-na Wen can’t really save a series that rarely if ever rises above being passable.
9. Star Wars Resistance
Tumblr media
A fun, atypical series that aims for a younger audience with a lighter, more comedic tone. Some fans may not gel with its sometimes zany energy, but it boasts some impressively nuanced character arcs and standout aerial combat set pieces. It ends though on an awkward rushed note that may be as much a fault of the shambling structure of the sequel trilogy as the show itself.
8. Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Tumblr media
Ewan McGregor’s big return to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi somehow feels like less than the sum of its parts. McGregor is wonderful as the title character and there are some truly emotional moments to be found in watching this old Jedi Master find his purpose and make peace with the trauma that came with the end of the Clone Wars, but overall Kenobi rarely manages to hit the highs it should. Messy production design and some clunky mid-season narrative choices end up cutting the series down in moments when the drama should be at its highest. For a series that may have been the most demanded Star Wars project of the last decade, Obi-Wan Kenobi never manages to fully reach the hype of its fanbase or the potential of its character.
7. Star Wars The Mandalorian
Tumblr media
After an uneven but mostly promising first season, The Mandalorian has had trouble finding its footing. Despite being the flagship series for not only Star Wars live action television but also the Disney+ streaming platform, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s space western has seemed unsure of itself after two seasons that pushed back its main characters in favor of a parade of cameos and clunky franchise focused world building. Luckily, it still has an eye for spectacle and flash. The Mandalorian looks like a blockbuster action-adventure movie and even when the story fails to live up to its potential, you can still count on the series’ consistently strong directing talent to deliver on some fantastic moments of Star Wars spectacle and creatively designed characters and locales.
6. Star Wars Ahsoka
Tumblr media
One of the most ambitious and complicated offerings from Star Wars’ live action television offerings, Ahsoka is the culmination of not only fifteen years of storytelling but an important evolution of both its central character and her creator, Dave Filoni. Unfortunately, it does frequently buckle under the weight of its own mythology and continuity. Trying to create a coherent identity out of a show that functionally serves as a spin off to three separate series, two of which are animated, often proves difficult and clunky. There are, however, moments of wonder and grandeur when Ahsoka really does shine. Whether its in the phenomenal performance of Ray Stevenson as the series’ enigmatic villain, Baylan Skoll, or how enthusiastically Ahsoka embraces the franchise’s more fantastical and weird story elements, Dave Filoni demonstrates that he does still have a sense for how to tell worthy stories in this galaxy.
5. Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi
Tumblr media
Recently confirmed to be more than a one-time special set of animated short films, Tales of the Jedi now looks to be a regular animated anthology that fleshes out the unexplored angles of some of the most famous members of the Order. While the three installments focusing on Ahsoka offer little more than a reunion for fans of The Clone Wars, the miniature trilogy that Tales of the Jedi tells about the fall of Count Dooku to the Dark Side are masterfully written and directed editions to the animated Star Wars canon. Not only do they finally add emotional and philosophical clarity to one of the most famous villains from the Prequel Trilogy, but they provide a murky exploration into some of the Jedi Order’s failings and why exactly members of its ranks would be tempted to leave it behind.
4. Star Wars: The Bad Batch
Tumblr media
While it suffers from some of the same pacing issues that abound in almost all Star Wars television, The Bad Batch has evolved into a fun ensemble action series with some truly stellar character moments scattered throughout. In particular, this Clone Wars spinoff excels in diving into the uncertain fate of the Grand Army of the Republic. At its core is the question of what happens to a people bred for wartime when that wartime ends? The results are often tragic and occasionally disturbing, but almost always make for standout television. Throw in some gripping action set pieces and you have a more than worthy follow up to one of the most beloved pieces of Star Wars canon.
3. Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Tumblr media
A very rough start and scattered snooze worthy story arcs aside, The Clone Wars is an ambitious as hell show that pretty much launched Star Wars as we currently know it. Its anthology style format allowed for its creators to tell a wide variety of stories that not only deepened a previously maligned era of the series but also played tribute to many of George Lucas’s creative influences. Great swing for the fences storytelling risks and gorgeous animation elevate this series into blockbuster level entertainment that balances incredible spectacle with powerful moments of character development and franchise redefining mythology.
2. Star Wars Rebels
Tumblr media
A wonderful achievement in character and inventive storytelling, Star Wars Rebels reaches heights that are among the best moments the franchise has ever produced. Through its endearing and refreshingly complex ensemble cast and a tight four-season arc, Rebels feels like a complete, unique package that isn’t afraid to take risks and knows when and how to challenge its audience. Even occasional filler episodes aren’t enough to detract from what is overall a charming, suspenseful, and ultimately moving series of family and the fight against tyranny.
1. Star Wars Andor
Tumblr media
Star Wars at its most human and political, Andor is thoughtful and meticulously crafted drama about the early days of a rebellion. Taking its title character from the ashes of Rogue One and spinning off into the story of a complicated man living in the shadow of fascism, Andor offers up intrigue, emotion, and a stirring critique of systems of oppression whether they be from the galaxy far, far away or own humble little world. Even outside of its heady political allegory, Andor is simply fantastically directed and acted television scattering a marathon of all-time-classic Star Wars moments throughout its first season. It’s that rare gem that only seems to come around only once or twice a decade: Star Wars that is not only great within the context of its universe but a truly essential work of pop cultural art.

The show was always leading up to kids in explicit danger. The Lawquane kids, Hera, Gungi, the miners, the clone cadets - all rocking alongside Omega, all growing up in a galaxy that won’t let them be kids. It jibes with what happened to Grogu after Order 66 (he was really the first clue to the Empire’s kidnapping kids).
When Rex tries to get through to Wolffe, his main argument is that Omega is a kid and the Wolffe that Rex knew would never go after a kid. And yet there they were, soldiers targeting the most vulnerable. The show then sort of works as a coming-of-age for the kids and a series of coming-to-Jesus moments for the clones.

THE BAD BATCH SPOILERS
that entire episode was just melancholy sadness and while it was nice and refreshing to see the clones battling the droids, the circumstances they are fighting under just make me sad
crosshair and cody working together really gets you thinking on how cody worked with the bad batch during the clone wars, and i wish we got to see more of cody with the bad batch (like in a flashback). but he's probley going to meet up with the rest of the batchers soon enough and im excited to see him possibly meet omega (it would be adorable)
cody being able to talk to the governor and ask for a diplomatic solution with no blood shed reminded me a lot of obi wan and his instance for diplomacy :(
(they just keep teasing us with this obi wan and cody crumbs, i can't)
the driods having somewhat accuracy on their shots???? a welcome surprise but a surprise none the less
i nearly sobbed when nova was killed and cody tried to go back for him but was stopped by crosshair pulling him back
I loved how this episode was dedicated to crosshair, and you really got a look at what he's going through and how it's affecting him. you also get to see just how alone he is. none of his brothers like him, hes still waiting outcast, and he is just so alone.
crosshair getting to show off just how precise he is with a rifle is just so cool. he really is talented it amazes me
also we are out of trailer clips of cody...

The Bad Batch 02x10 Review and Thoughts
I enjoyed this episode! It was a side quest, sure, but a necessary one! Loving the gonky love in this episode and Benni has massive Ezra Bridger vibes, as a Rebels fan I loved it.
I'm trying avoid negativity *cough twitter cough*, since it tends to dampen my mood on my current obsession. But I have seen the usual complaints, which I'm not surprised by. But I personally don't believe in filler.
I loved the parallels drawn between the Ipsium miners and the Empire. Because it's true, the same corruption on a smaller scale. I enjoyed seeing their reactions to what was going on and Omega's reaction especially. It had massive Rebels vibes and I loved it.
It may not have been the most plot driven episode, and you can't expect every episode to drive the plot hard when its a 15-20 episode season, but I had a lot of fun watching it and talking about it with my friend!
Can't wait for next week!

THE BAD BATCH - JUGGERNAUT (S3 EP12) (SPOILERS!!!)
The dramatic music immediately had me looking at my laptop wide-eyed. The fact that the wide shots of Tantiss get darker and darker as the series goes on has me scared.
Oh, Hemlock's smirk makes him look extra punchable. And Oh, Emerie is second-guessing herself. Do I smell another redemption arc?
WE DIDN'T GET THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN HUNTER, CROSS AND WRECKER??? Devastation is the best word I can think of right now. But then again, I don't think my tear ducts could've handled that.
Rampart. The hand tremor- No I can't do this. The fear and guilt in Crosshair's eyes when his hand shakes and he says Rampart might know is heartbreaking.
PHEE!! "You must be Crosshair. Tech told me all about your sparkling personality." fuck i cant do this "ANY FRIEND OF BROWN EYES IS A FRIEND OF MY OWN" OH MY STARS HIT ME RIGHT IN THE FEELS.
Aww the lil old Plan 55. Completely harmless. Yippee.
"Tempting, but no," had me laughing 😂Rampart's jerk away from Cross was hilarious.
The lengths these copy-and-paste men will go to to get their daughter/sister back. Wow. And I mean wow.
what the fuck does he mean no one knows the co-ordinates to Tantiss
Bruh. Bruh.
Oh my god when I tell you I was sweating when Hemlock was taking Omega to the vault. I was like 'another M-count specimen?? What if it's Tech???'
Over I think a 7.5-8/10. Pretty good but the tension at the end was *chefs kiss*
Until next Wednesday xx
