So I think this new lore tab is what happened just before Sjur's death? Will follow up if I find anything else.

Strand Theory

I have a working theory about how strand like. works and what its based off of I guess? Admittedly its a bit loose but it could make sense. Mainly I think that we’re like Technically ‘the first person to use it’ like they said in the video but I feel like we’ve encountered many offshoots of strand up until this point. Namely deepsight, hive magic, egregor, and potentially awoken tech/magic.

So first they literally said its psychic in the trailer (‘connects everything together’ ‘connects all living beings and all minds’ ‘peering into this alternate psychic universe’) which is also very much Deepsights Whole Thing. I think its fair to guess that at some point it was intended to launch with Witch Queen (which ill get into later in the post) but was cut for some ambitious reason.

for hive stuff its green. end post. No but jokes aside I do genuinely thing theirs a lot of similarities between Hive magic and Strand, particularly in hive runes and names. During the vidoc they repeatedly said strand abilities ‘are reaching out and grabbing from the strand dimension’, which feels similar to the way Hive Runes and names function. Hive runes and names are like, Incredibly Literal, in the way they work. The runes are such a literal definition of a word it manifests tangible effects. For example their rune for death can bring literal death. In our case we might be like casting a rune on the fly, using the rune for ‘swing’ to tear into the strand dimension and pull ourselves around

(the website also mentions something about warlocks being able to summon things? As in a summoner class which I feel like could have some parallels to hive summoning rituals). They also used the word ‘weave’ a lot to describe strand abilities which feels similar to hive runes in the sense that they need to be formed into a shape to work. Also tying a bit more into deepsight, the savathun fight has a lot of weaving motifs in its mechanics, the buff we receive is called ‘thread cutter’ and it appears that the hive wizards were physically ‘weaving’ their spell to trap the traveler .

Egregor feels all but confirmed just by the verbiage they use to explain strand in the vidoc and what we’ve learned about it throughout season of the haunted. Just off the top of my head they’ve said strand ‘connects everything together’ and ‘connects all beings and minds’ which is like. Egregor’s whole deal. Also the one voice clip from either Eris or Crow (who’s talking about Eris) saying that “egregore is a form of darkness that is not purified”. I think theirs probably a lot more connections if I dug a bit deeper but it feels like a very obvious connection. Also just the visual similarities between egregore and strand (i.e. katabasis all strung up compared to the cabal seen above or the grappling hooks).

Awoken tech/magic is Probably My Biggest Reach but, a lot of their tech tends to have a similar texture to strand and the awoken for sure know a lot about interacting with other plains. Namely I feel like wayfinding/the leylines and the techeuns instakill magic from the raid could tie into it.

Also might tie in the vex? Since iirc they gorgons use the same instakill as the techeuns. Would not surprise me to know that ‘the robots unbound from time that literally are able to calculate everything casual’ would have a vague understanding of the strings that make up the universe

Overall I think the reason we’re going to be “the first to use it” isn’t bc we just Simply Found It like we did stasis but rather bc the young wolf has accumulated the perfect combination of knowledge to figure it out how it works.

the eliksni sympathy arc should have started in D1.

the seeds of doubt germinating in the Vanguard as they tentatively agree to assist the Reef in hunting down the rebel Wolves (do we even know they were slaves? did the Reef tell us? did we ever find out?). Variks's introduction and Skolas's motivations should have been more tightly tied in with the Scatter, the event that halved the population of an entire nation.

the second opportunity to introduce an eliksni sympathy arc with with House Exiles on the moon. they didn't really have a reason to shoot at us, it makes no sense. it wouldn't have been that much more programming to just have them slink off at the sight of us.

(they needed to make more diverse enemies, yes, because this is an fps. why write sympathy into the lore at all, then? and eliksni are basically fodder, like you can't seriously tell me they're the most interesting enemy to kill on a moon filled with various ranked Hive.)

at the very, very latest, the narrative needed to acknowledge the Scatter by Forsaken. it needed to acknowledge our complicity in the hunting down of slaves for an already questionable foreign power. it needed to acknowledge the nuances of the situation, that the Wolves would have gone onto destroying the City if Mara hadn't intervened - but that Mara had intervened only because she wanted to rule the Wolves.

(I really wish they didn't gaslight Zavala's very rightful distrust of the Reef monarchy.)

the story that destiny is telling about the eliksni now... i don't know it. it's not familiar to me. none of the threads of lore that i spent so much time researching add up to this.

honestly i don't think we'll ever get to explore those stories now. no Scatter, no Exiles, no corpse of Ceres. it's something that should have been tightly tied in with the City's relation with the eliksni from at least the beginning of D2.

like, i'm not kidding that researching for fanfiction for D1 is now basically researching a wholly different story from writing for D2.

With such a murder battery, I could become a being of supreme insight." The Thrall indicated it was confused, but not lost. "With this tribute, I shall undertake a mighty work. I'm going to move from an existential economy based on the accumulation of violence to an existential economy based on the accumulation of secrets and the tribute of failing-to-understand-me. I shall name this tribute of failing-to-understand IMBARU, for it shall be as formless as the mist." The Thrall held up its claws, as if to say, please slow down.

Eddie standing in Steve’s kitchen being mid conversation with Robin and just in general being in Steve’s way. Now normally Steve would just budge past him but with Eddie especially he’s worried about being a jock/bully and react like Steve’s shoving him. So Steve just puts his hands on Eddies waist and picks him up then plops him to side because that seems nicer, then just goes about getting stuff from the fridge.
