totally unserious take on a chaggie wedding XD inspired by @tiny-feisty-gay's glorious idea of carmilla giving vaggie away XD XD
Carmilla: "....."
Vaggie: (dressed to get hitched) (half way out a window)
Carmilla: "...am I interrupting?"
Vaggie: "Miss Carmine, uh- No, I was just. Gonna get some air..."
Carmilla: "Two minutes before your wedding."
Vaggie: "That's- that's why I need the air."
Carmilla: "And when you don't return from your 'air getting', what exactly would you like me to say to your heartbroken bride?"
Vaggie: ".... I..."
Carmilla: "Come along." (hooks vaggie by the arm and pulls her casually away from the window) "You can explain it all to me on the way."
Vaggie: "The way- the- the way WHERE?"
Carmilla: "To the wedding arch, where your reformed snake man is waiting to officiate your vows with the princess of hell." (lifts eyebrow) "I did you both a rather large favor by helping your fight against heaven. I am calling in that favor now, and you will allow me to walk you down the aisle."
Vaggie: "Oh no."
Carmilla: "Oh yes."
Vaggie: "Wait." (digging in her heels) (getting dragged anyway) "Wait!"
Carmilla: "Why should I."
Vaggie: "The wedding- I can't."
Carmilla: "Then face her and tell her so."
Vaggie: "That’s not what-"
Carmilla: "Did you ask her to be here today?"
Vaggie: "W-we asked each other..."
Carmilla: "So you at least owe her that much. You can say whatever you like once you reach the arch, but you should at least meet her there. Don't you think?"
Vaggie: "..."
Vaggie: "You're right." (squares shoulders) "You're right- I should. And. I've been practicing the vows for weeks. I should just. Say them."
Carmilla: "Good." (at the doors) "Ready?"
Vaggie: (breathes out) "...ready."
Carmilla: (walks them out the doors and towards the aisle)
Vaggie: "-im not ready im not ready."
Carmilla: "Too late."
Vaggie: (whisper yelling) "Turn left! Left! Left left left!"
Carmilla: "No."
Vaggie: "Miss Carmine- please-"
Carmilla: "No.” (effortless marches vaggie forward) “If you didn't want me interfering with your life then you shouldn't have come asking me for help in the first place."
Vaggie: "I ASKED? I only asked you to teach me how to kill angels!"
Carmilla: "And I only agreed to teach you when you said you were looking to protect those you love. Now I have another lesson for you."
Vaggie: "This isn't the time-"
Carmilla: "Hush. You need to kill the angel in your head."
Vaggie: "The what?"
Carmilla: "The voice screaming at your about worthiness instead of love- kill it. Kill it before it breaks the heart of the woman that you love."
Vaggie: "How can I- but it's not wrong. And it's, me."
Carmilla: "And you are the one she asked to be here. Look. She's waiting for you."
Vaggie: "Charlie..."
Vaggie: “……”
Vaggie: "....she's loves people, e-even when they don't deserve it."
Carmilla: "Your entire hotel is built on proving that a lie. Are you willing to fight for her or not?"
Vaggie: "Yes! With my life, no matter what-"
Carmilla: "Then fight for her. Fight yourself, for her, or you will be the one to hurt her."
Vaggie: "....what if I lose? What I.. if she..."
Carmilla: "You can't be ready to fight a battle if you're not ready to risk losing it. Is her happiness worth that risk to you?"
Vaggie: "More than anything."
Carmilla: (as they reach the arch) (whispering) "Then you are ready."
At the arch
Charlie: "VAGGIE!” (grinning) “H-hi!!!"
Vaggie: (smiling) (melting) "Hey, sweetie." (hesitates) "…one second?"
Charlie: "? Okay!!!!!!"
Vaggie: (turns to Carmilla) "Can I hug you."
Carmilla: "You may."
Vaggie: (hugs her stiffly) "Thank you."
Charlie: (also quickly hugging them both) “I don’t know why exactly but thank you so much too!” (backs off again) "Sorry!"
Carmilla: (smiling) (hugs vaggie back warmly) "Enough.” (pushing away) “Go, now. Fight."
Vaggie: "I will.”
Vaggie: (turning to Charlie) (taking her hands) "I always will."
Charlie: (grinning) “With me? As partners?”
Vaggie: “And for you. For as long as you want, and longer. You’ve-” (voice breaks) “… you’ve been stuck with me for while already, Charlie Morningstar.”
Charlie: (tearing up) “So’ve you. And I will too. Um.” (blinking hard) “Vaggie… Morningstar?”
Vaggie: (choked laugh) “Getting ahead of the ceremony, babe, but yeah. Almost.”
Charlie: “Okay.” (sniffling) (Smiling) “Then- oh, thanks Razzle. Uh.” (at vaggie) “Gimme one sec?”
Vaggie: “Take as many as you want, it’s our ceremony after all.”
Charlie: “R-right.” (quickly dabs at eyes with handkerchief Razzle gave her before handing it back) “Then, um, that’s enough ceremony for me, to be honest. You’re enough- you’re all I wanted out of this whole wedding thing anyway, Vaggie.”
Vaggie: “…yeah?”
Charlie: “Yes.”
Vaggie: “Same. I- yeah… you..” (clears throat) “Same here.”
Charlie: “Yeah..?”
Vaggie: “Yes.”
Sir Pentious: “Awwwww.”
Sir Pentious: “…..ah.”
Sir Pentious: (shuffling note cards) “Ah, ahhh… errhm… wasss that, in the vowsss?”
Charlie: (giggling) “Well it is now~”
Vaggie: “Whoops.”
Sir Pentious: “Ah, my apologiessss !” (shuffling frantically) “I- I musssst have missssed, the update- ah, errr-”
Charlie: (laughing) “You didn’t miss anything, Pen, don’t worry!”
Vaggie: “Go ahead Pentious.” (squeezes Charlie’s hands) “We’re ready.”
Charlie: “Heh.” (squeezes back) “We.” (still kinda crying)
Sir Pentious: “Oh yess! Hmmm.”
Sir Pentious: (stares at disorganized notes)
Sir Pentious: “Dearly damned and other demons, sinners, winners, whatevers! We are gathered here today to…! To….” (flips card) “…to kiss- the, ah… brides?”
Angel Dust: “What, kiss them? ALL of us assholes? That’ll take a bit.” (ginning) “Hold onto ya lips, toots!”
Husk: “Pass.”
Alastor: “I must most strenuously decline, ha ha~!”
Niffty: “KISS THE BRIDES! KISS THE BRIDES!” (giggling)“Your death swift would be SWIFT and BRUTAL! And go GREAT with the decorations!”
Cherri: (cackling) (hollering) “You better not, Penny, you’d better not!”
Sir Pentious: “N-NO CHERRI I SSSSWEAR I WOULD NEVER-!”
Sir Pentious: “Oh… ah…”
Sir Pentius: “…they sssseem to be preoccupied with each other, in any case… erm.”
Sir Pentious: “Congratulassshtionsss?”
Charggie: (thumbs up) (still kinda kissing) (still kinda laughing and crying too)
meanwhile
Lucifer in the background: (HOWLING TEARS OF JOY INTO HIS HAT)
Ozzie: (same situation but with Fizzie instead of a hat)
Carmilla: (stiffly but sympathetically patting them both on the head)
Clara & Odette: (waving a pair of lesbian and bisexual flags & holding up a 10/10 score card respectively)
Clara: “…”
Clara: “…what about the rings?”
KeeKee: (walks over) (WRETCHES) (licks paw) (walks off)
Clara & Odette: (stare blankly)
Clara: “…… did the demon cat just cough up their wedding bands.”
Odette: “Apparently.”
Clara: “Aww. That’s really gross.”
Odette: “Don’t be homophobic at the gay wedding, Clara.”
Clara: “I’d never be homophobic at OUR sister’s marriage, Oddy.” (elbows her) “You know what this means?”
Odette: “Finally you are not my default favorite sister. I have to actively choose you, and the privilege can be revoked.”
Clara: “And mom can’t guilt us about wanting to walk a daughter down the aisle anymore.”
Odette: “….”
Odettte: (revises her score cards to say 100/10 instead)

I always think it's a little surprising, irritating, endearing, something when big, tough men find solace in being gentle with their daughters.
There's reason to do tough things with them, too, to make sure they grow up strong and independent, but I think of a man like Simon "Ghost" Riley, who spent a huge percentage of his life being beaten down consistently by almost all the men who were around him.
And sure, he trusts the men in his task force with his life now, no question about it, but... I think the sudden calm he experiences when he starts to raise a daughter is beyond strange for him, but also weirdly... healing, too. Enjoyable.
That's not to say he doesn't, and hasn't, enjoyed the boyish things in life, the watching sports, the playing in the dirt, the pretending to hold guns part of growing up... but he finds himself sitting through your daughter's ballet class, overwhelmed by the calm that surrounds him, actually able to focus on the intensity of her pliers, her releves, the way her pink skirt ripples when she leaps into a sauter.
It's a new realization, a new kind of war (between him and learning how to be a parent), but it's one that doesn't revolve around the consistent anxiety that warps his stomach when he watches boys, little or not, teeter the line between roughhousing and fighting, picking on one another for shedding accidental tears that, really, cause no harm.
With your daughter, he's set in charge of watching her play with her friends and finds there is no lump in his stomach when she giggles with them, no dark possibility drifting in the back of his mind that she'll reach out and get her arm broken by someone she trusts--the fights she fights with her peers all between the characters they play and not between their fists, their games of laughter and drama and screaming but not of raging violence.
There's people who ask him, people who joke, wouldn't a man like him prefer a son? He must've been so disappointed... Yet, Simon still has yet to think of the best way to tell them that he honestly enjoys having a daughter a little bit more, that she runs to him and not for a second is he afraid she's hiding a snake up her sleeve, because she's only ever greeted him with flowers.

Llamaaaaa, I’ve got major brain rot over the Maifia babes! Would the situation/ romancing of reader change much if she were the daughter of a rival, Don or a straight and narrow police captain?
oooh... the daughter of a police captain? It might change a few things
Sans: He lies to everyone. Her dad is no exception. He's dedicated every aspect of himself to ensuring she belongs to him- what's one more person to lie to? Though staging her father's death was certainly an option, Sans draws an oddly specific line at killing family (wonder why?).
Sans is charming, in the way many stereotypical sociopaths are. He plays the safe, stable, polite boyfriend that wins her family over with bad jokes and good manners. His facade of having a boring and safe (yet very successful) banking job means Mc's dad might even actively prefer Sans over her past partners, because he believes she'll be safe.
And... well. He's not wrong. The only times Sans has ever been honest with Mc's father was when asked if he loved her, and if he'd keep her safe.
Red: Fuck cops. Red's gonna be the irresistible bad boy with a heart of gold, the attractive and dangerous side of life that she's been denied until now. Power and glamour and parties and all the wild luxuries and freedoms his protection brings- what's her dad gonna do, arrest him for taking a consenting pretty lady on expensive dates? Red likes subtly gloating about how the cops have absolutely no evidence against him for anything.
... He's also going to show her the reality of the police. He'll show her just why he's so antagonistic toward a captain. Things are a lot more complex than her 'straight and narrow' dad has lead her to believe, it's never been as simple as the good cops vs. the evil monsters... why do you think he got so powerful in the first place, doll? Here's a clue; it wasn't because the cops were well liked.
... Cop or not, though, Red gets antsy at the thought of her losing someone she loves. So for the time being, Mc's dad is unaware that Red's 'family' have designated him completely off-limits. Red may despise everything her father stands for, but he's not going to let the man die.
Skull: It doesn't change much about his wooing method. He's still a mess, he still tries to win her over with classical romance methods and pretty things. Who her family is has absolutely no meaning to him. Though... he might start deliberately targeting people who pose a threat to her, considering her dad is most likely well known.
Honestly, if it gets to the point where she's bringing Skull home to meet her family, I can see Mc's dad taking something of a weird shine to Skull. Not knowing about the giant's crimes, obviously. Skull might be physically imposing, but her dad has met a lot of imposing people, and when Skull is around Mc he just seems so... harmless. Like a puppy following her around, waiting for a pat. Skull's total adoration is so clear and untainted that it shines through his terrible appearance.
Her dad gets the strong feeling that no matter what Skull does, he will always put Mc first. He approves of that.

Hazbin Hotel would be so much more interesting if charlie’s naïveté and surface-level kindness were treated as the actual flaws they are and didn’t work. Heads up, this kinda just turned into a text wall of charlie neg and ranting so don’t read if you don’t want to see that.
How she currently is, she just doesn’t make that much sense in the setting. I’ve seen ppl say that charlie is a fresh take and contrasts the edginess, but I just don’t see how she is possible. You’re telling me she’s been in hell for 200 yrs but still has this childish and naive personality, is still disgusted by the sinners being cannibalistic, violent, and even just horny, and is so detached from those she calls “her people”? She was born in hell, shouldn’t that make her more used to the sinners’ depravity and not less? She doesn’t seem to have a good grasp on what the sinners want or how they behave. It would make more sense if the show leaned into the toxic positivity white savior nepo baby angle (or rather, actually portrayed it as a *bad* thing) and rather than naïveté, her ignorance was out of self-centeredness and/or lack of true empathy for the other sinners. She would be more interesting as a character too imo.
She looks down on the other sinners (and honestly so does the show?? When she’s showing lucifer around and introduces him to her friends, they’re framed as unappealing as a joke… these are the characters the audience is also supposed to care about.. and many of the bg chars, such as the cannibal town residents, are portrayed as simple-minded brutes), there’s a lot of condescending “….ooookay” type of lines and she constantly has to think of nice ways to frame the clearly negative things she thinks about others. So why does she want to save them so much? The more reasonable explanation is a sense of white savior-ness than actually caring about them.
She’s eager to excuse whatever sir pentious did (which I’m assuming she doesn’t know?) and let him in, despite how he makes the other residents (including her own gf!) uncomfortable. And yes I say excuse, because she never inquires about his past sins or discussed him repenting. It seems to start with sorry, but also end with sorry too. This could’ve been made interesting if she simultaneously looked down on but also excused all sorts of heinous acts. Like val is the most openly manipulative and scummy character, he licks her arm, and yet she’s still apologetic about ruining things (Side note, if she’s genuinely apologetic, then she’s actually an idiot because why is she talking to the boom-mic employee *while they’re filming???*).
She doesn’t know what she’s doing and has no concrete plan but gets incredulous at ppl who don’t blindly trust her. Angel has to leave in ep 4 and she gets SO frustrated over it, like you seriously expect everyone to drop all of their other commitments for you? She has her webster definition notecards for the meeting with heaven and has to improvise and rely on angel being good at the club but she gets mad that lucifer isn’t 100% behind her plan?
Also, trust falls? Really? Then she goes “why isn’t this working? We’ve tried everything!” But on that note, the actual episode portrayal is kinda exactly what I’m going for. Not only do the trust falls not work, charlie says, “I love all of you so much,” pulls her puppy eyes, and only vaggie catches her. It’s surface level and shallow, and does not win anyone else over.
In contrast, vaggie’s attempt at building trust, throwing everyone into a battle, *actually works* (despite vaggie only being in hell for 3 years and being heaven-born, she already knows how things work better than charlie!) and yet charlie talks about it as though it already failed. She says “we work best as a team,” with the underlying message being “I can’t trust you to do things on your own.”
If she was waiting so long to reconnect with lucifer, then why hasn’t she called him in years?? Altho I’m currently rotating lucifer in my brain so I might be a bit biased
“If angels can do whatever and stay in the sky” they can’t?? Your dad is RIGHT there. I. What
She has a power dynamic with every other character except lucifer since she has her demon powers, not to mention she’s giving them a place to stay. When vaggie says she appreciates that charlie doesn’t use her powers, charlie doesn’t say “it wouldn’t be right,” she says it would be too *mean.* But if someone pushes her buttons, who’s to say they wouldn’t slip out (see her flip on a dime after val hits angel. Obv it’s justified in this case, but it shows that she’s willing to use her powers on sinners)? Again, it would be interesting if the show actually leaned into this angle. Imagine if she put on a nice front, never swore, seemed genuinely touching and understanding, but the second someone annoys her she annihilates them and becomes threatening and violent. Then she turns around and is nice again. Too much like alastor? idk
Also, many characters refer to her by calling her lucifer’s daughter, so clearly ppl know that if they cross her they’ll face his wrath by proxy (this also fits in thematically with what lute tells her in the first episode, that she’s exempt from the exterminations bc nepotism privilege). So realistically, everyone else would be a bunch of sucking-up yes-men bc they’re afraid of her. Which they kind of are when push comes to shove?
At first, she doesn’t help at all during the war and lets everyone else fight for her. Doesn’t want to get her hands dirty ig, even though all of this was caused by her in the first place. She only starts fighting at vaggie’s urging.
Like husk points out, every meeting charlie has with the angels makes things worse for all the sinners. Despite lucifer’s warnings that the meeting with heaven won’t work, and against vaggie saying to calm down, charlie basically picks a fight with heaven at the risk of *everyone else EXCEPT HER.*
What were charlie and lilith doing to stop the exterminations before lilith took her 7 year leave? Hell, what was charlie doing during those 7 years? Why does she have 0 connections outside of vaggie, who she only met 3 yrs ago? Why does she have to introduce herself to rosie, rather than her already knowing her name?
Also in ep 7 she says to alastor “I can’t believe how you can do exactly what you told me you would do!” (standing by and watching everyone fail at redemption) almost like she wasn’t paying attention to him at all.
“Why would vaggie hide that she was an exterminator” -> Rosie asks “how did that make you feel?” “It made me mad and doubt if she loves me” like I get it, it was a betrayal, but IS she stupid
Ready For This is charlie manipulating a town of ppl to join the army. Her pitch includes “on the way to the hotel the scenery is nice and you can make friends :3” and “have you ever wanted to die for a cause? Notably I myself am spared from being killed but uh that’s your problem.” Alastor pipes in that you can eat the angels and that’s what actually moves the crowd, because he understands them.
Her perspective on violence and where she chooses to draw the line is really confusing. Why does she care about sinners being violent to each other if they’ll just respawn? She stops alastor from beating up sir pentious at an arbitrary point, but is fine with him eating and presumably killing the gangsters who come after mimzy. (Edit: forgot to point out yet another example, that she was fine with vaggie tossing sir pentious and angel off the balcony but stops her from tossing niffty as well for no reason.) Why is she so apologetic to the angels actively killing sinners but was distraught over vaggie having partaken? Why was she opposed to the CANNIBALS being eager to eat the angels and saying “idk, they seem kinda murder-y” WHAT. What? I’m struggling to even begin to describe how ignorant that is during a WAR. What did she think was going to happen, that she wouldn’t have to fight anyone herself? Why did she stop her dad from killing Adam but doesn’t react strongly to Niffty finishing the job? If it mattered so much to her, the lack of reaction seems strange to me.
Isn’t it just so poetic that her weapon in the war is a shield that she uses exclusively on herself, which she hardly even needs due to her contractual immunity?
Why doesn’t she think to use her powers to build and maintain the hotel? That doesn’t require any violence or domineering. Yet when lucifer comes over it’s run-down and falling apart. Or ask lucifer to help her build it? She was concerned that asking for the meeting with heaven was such a big ask—why not start with this small thing? Father-daughter bonding.
Why does the show end w lucifer + the sinners congratulating her, and in particular, rebuilding the hotel? Hell doesn’t know that sir pentious got redeemed, so from their pov charlie’s idea didn’t work at all.
Can you tell that I’m writing this while I’m rewatching the show?
Aaand that’s that. Her char has always come off to me as somewhat condescending/fake, but I keep finding more and more things to dislike about the way she’s been written. Unfortunate. Honestly tho I might enjoy watching her more if I read her through this lens. You could probably write a similar post for most/all other chars in the show, limited only by the amount of screentime they get lmao

today on "viserys isn't the nice guy he thinks he is," we have his willingness to publicly belittle or complain about things he clearly demands of alicent in private. he'll humiliate her in front of high-ranking men for something, then when alone will turn around and berate her for not doing that very same thing.
in episode 4, alicent tries to engage daemon in conversation about the tapestries, offering to go view them together in an effort to reach out to viserys's side of the family. it's viserys, not daemon, who repeats her words mockingly, and then the two of them snicker about it. (bless rhaenyra for noticing alicent was visibly upset here and stepping in for her.) meanwhile, later we see viserys frustrated by the fact that alicent's failed to become close to people like daemon.
in episode 6, alicent is arranging viserys's blanket to make him comfortable. in front of lyonel strong, he acts as if her assistance is a nuisance, complaining to him that he's being "endlessly fussed over" and saying "it's a wonder i can visit the privy alone." and yet seconds later, once lyonel has left, he goes to get up and demands to alicent, "aren't you going to help me?"
as with most things for viserys, i'm sure he's blissfully unaware of how hypocritical he's being. but it's interesting that viserys seems to like to posture around powerful men that he admires (daemon, a targaryen prince, and lyonel, a lord and the hand of the king). he does this at his teenaged wife's expense, but then privately has no problem with demanding that she do the things he's publicly shamed her for doing the moment those same men aren't around to witness it.
i can think of a great deal of men irl who are exactly like this and i have the ick for every single one of them.

Sir Walter in Persuasion seeing Anne after her Sea Breeze Restoration TM and being like, "Girl, what have you been using? Whatever it is, don't you dare stop."
"But like really, what is it? I want in."
In the course of the same morning, Anne and her father chancing to be alone together, he began to compliment her on her improved looks; he thought her “less thin in her person, in her cheeks; her skin, her complexion, greatly improved; clearer, fresher. Had she been using any thing in particular?” “No, nothing.” “Merely Gowland,” he supposed. “No, nothing at all.” “Ha! he was surprised at that;” and added, “certainly you cannot do better than to continue as you are; you cannot be better than well; or I should recommend Gowland, the constant use of Gowland, during the spring months. Mrs Clay has been using it at my recommendation, and you see what it has done for her. You see how it has carried away her freckles.” Ch 16
She was looking remarkably well; her very regular, very pretty features, having the bloom and freshness of youth restored by the fine wind which had been blowing on her complexion, and by the animation of eye which it had also produced. Ch 12

I'm literally watching the first episode of "im in love with the villainess" right now and lemme tell y'all from all the self indulgenced, isekai audience inserts there are
Rae Taylor is by far the most relatable one cuz, i too would be more than ecstatic if i were transported to another world and the pretty villainess decided to dedicate all of her attention to me (yes even bullying is attention and maybe just like Rae herself i would like to get stepped on, HARD!!!)
