My guess is that they change a little.

I ‘like’ my friends at a very high intensity, in the way that I would set the world on fire for them without hesitation and it feels all-consuming

…but it’s not romantic - like at all in the slightest (which can be confusing and frustrating at times)

It is a super powerful increase in ‘like’ that I would call love, but more so in the way you love your family chosen or otherwise; I think romantic love is different kind- I’d recommend looking into the Split Attraction Model (or SAM for short) to see what other people have written on this subject!

Seeing Jeeto come into play in any capacity at all makes me feel like a proud parent watching their children grow. Its always wonderful like those are my emotional support middle aged fictional men. I watched them go from conspiracy to getting crumbs to now their "dates" and gossiping together. Youve gotta love it. Those are my children. Im so proud of them. But im also scared because you killed shen so obviously my feeligns mean nothing to you 🙄😒😒. Also its always really subtle but its funny to see your specific linguistical patterns in liab esp because i can never really explain it. Like ill read a random sentence and be like 'yeah that seems like sreeder wrote it' i just think its neat.

The 'moving forward' ness of zukka in liab is so nicely written. Like ive been reading liab since (almost) the beginning and it has been a ride and its starting to feel more conclusive and that is SCARY but its also nice because you write it very well and i adore the way you write trauma and the healing of it and the ups and downs and the two steps forward two steps backness. Its very lovely.

I knew ara was going to have a suicide attempt (esque situation (idk if that counts)) i called it i win.

i feel like you can always tell the strengths of a writer in the way they write complicated characters and the way you write ara is very telling of that. Like the fragility and also harshness used for her is very realistic and i always enjoy her parts so much.

Like her deciding to move on independant of how zuko or sokka feel about it is and regardless of whether people thinks she 'deserves it' is immaculate.

And thats a good example on your specific strengths as the author of liab (being able to handle delicate situations well, and realistically and make them very thought out and not rushed, stuff like that).

But her 'i need to start getting along with other girls' is great because like,, RHATS SO TRUE. she is genuienlly one of my favorite characters of all time, i could write essays on why i love her. Exquisite.

But reading falling falling stars, there's a bit where efnisien talks about how he was meant to be a culmination of the 'worst' parts of Crielle and penny (penny's brutality and Crielle's ability to control it). do you think instead he got the 'best' parts of them (beauty and brains) instead and is why he was still preferred to Gwyn, but not in the specific shape they wanted him in?

I think Efnisien's assessment is understandable, but it's also like...just his thoughts about something, and not reflective of reality.

He didn't get the best or worst parts of Penny or Crielle. He was raised by abusers, and there were good things and terrible things in that household, but most of the things were terrible. Efnisien's beauty is 'fragile' because he was malnourished so badly, that's not a 'best' thing that he inherited from his family, that was something inflicted on him. His thinness is a symptom of his upbringing and abuse. His pretty face is genetics, he got that just as much from his ancestors as from Penny.

Likewise, his intelligence - as Crielle actually rightly points out - works against him often. It's not a 'best' part at all. People who are highly intellectual but raised in abusive homes often are prone to coping techniques like intellectualisation and catastrophisation, and highly intellectual people are actually more prone to mental illness. Efnisien's ability to think things through without wisdom or guidance or maturity meant he was able to convince himself that he was evil with far more complexity than what Crielle was saying, to reinforce everything she was saying.

These things are not 'best' traits for everyone, anon. Someone being 'ugly' is not the worst thing it's possible to be, and someone being intelligent isn't always the best. Crielle's intelligence was used to manipulate, torture, and sadistically brainwash Efnisien. Is that really her best quality? Her beauty was used to manipulate, deceive and convince people that she was harmless, because folks mistakenly think that 'beautiful' also means 'good' and 'pure' (they're wrong, but it's for this reason that attractive abusers are actually less likely to come to justice than 'ugly' ones). It wasn't one of her best qualities. And it also wasn't something she had a choice over. That's 100% down to genetics.

Also, he didn't inherit that from her anyway, he's Penny's son. And her beauty is also 100% down to genetics.

I'm very wary of attaching words like 'best' or 'good' to traits like beauty (subjective) and intelligence, anon. Like, philosophically, I would not say those were 'best traits' and nor where Penny and Crielle using these qualities in helpful, compassionate, useful, or caring ways. Efnisien didn't either for a long time. In fact he himself makes it clear that he used his prettiness and his beauty to deceive people, and this is why the story makes him look less pretty outside of scenes as the story goes on. He wears less handsome clothing, he wears more comfortable clothing, he doesn't make his hair fashionable any longer, etc.

The story itself is like 'uh, being beautiful and smart can still turn out psychopathic torturers.'

Not best traits, anon. Not worst traits either. Just things that exist, that are used as tools by people both consciously and unconsciously towards all ends. Be wary of thinking this way yourself anon, it sets up an unconscious bias towards believing that people who are ugly and not as smart are somehow 'worse' than people who are beautiful and intelligent.

And the world doesn't work like that at all.

You mentioned slugging Darmas (with enthusiasm!) on Tyr's playthrough as a post-Imp smuggler. Given that Darmas was part of Imperial Intelligence like Tyr, how did that whole dynamic between Tyr, the smuggler he worked for, and Darmas work?

This is DELICIOUS, thank you so, so much for finally giving me the nudge to go off about this on main, lol.

This is truly part of what made the Imperial Agent to Smuggler pipeline hit me like a speeding semi-truck on the interstate highway, for real. It was an incredibly cathartic experience, lol.

I'm still rotating an idea or two or three about the exact specifics because each of them have their own merits, but the universal beat is Cee lets Tyr make the choice here; Darmas and Dodonna used them both, ultimately, but she gets that it's far more personal for Tyr given his history with Intelligence.

(Also, I'd like to shake Bioware by the shoulders. Give me a consistent timeline on Intelligence challenge! Its in the process of being cut at the knees according to the Agent's trip to Corellia!!! But that's... for another time, lol).

There'd definitely be something very crunchy about keeping a lid on Tyr's history as an ex-Cipher for Darmas to let the cat out of the bag as a part of the bit to throw the Smuggler off, but since I've started to develop Cee as his Captain for want of a consistent trail of events to follow and they ultimately end up catching feelings for each other... and also partially because Dorne's deal with her defection during her companion quest series is also one of my favorites, I've been leaning towards it coming up beforehand - though, again, I haven't quite hammered out specifically how or when.

Being manipulated and sort of falling into things by circumstance is something Cee and him ultimately share experience in, so it's kind of important to me and to them that they're able to share that on their terms - or as much of their own terms as possible. It's still more by accident and situationally that his history comes up at all - I imagine its not even something the SIS readily passes around as part of operational security, but as of the moment, I imagine Tyr just figures it's easier (and better) to explain it himself rather than let her try to piece it together from whatever opinionated tales begin to unravel it in the first place. (She'd figure it out either way and he'd prefer someone he cares about not feel lied to, y'know?)

He comes to respect Cee a great deal rather quickly because she's trying her best to hold her own ground in the midst of... everything she's kinda stumbled into from the reputation chasing down Nok Drayen's treasure to a deal with the Republic, so it's quite important to him that he maintains open communication with her.

But, yes, Darmas, whether he recognizes the ex-Cipher or not, is an incredibly personal encounter for Tyr. While he's not Cipher Nine in this particular tale, his reasons for leaving Imperial Intelligence and the Empire behind are largely consistent with those he chooses as Nine: he's not interested in being a statistic, the battered instrument and disposable cog in some Sith's machinery. And beneath under all of that calculation, beneath the facade of realism tempered by an agent's experience and training, ideals are important to Tyr and they always have been, even if he hasn't exactly realized it. To find out he traded the Empire for the Republic (that was meant to be an improvement on the ideals front) and still fell into those trappings, that he was so close to the problem and didn't even see any warning signs, that this threatened the very real unexpected found family and belonging he found in Cee and the crew... It's a lot. And he knows Darmas's type too well to trust that the snake wouldn't slip away given half the chance.

I imagine he does take a swing first, emotions getting the better of him for a moment, at least, before he deferred to Cee's judgement. She was the one they really sent after the pair, after all. But, in the end, Cee left the decision up to him, so Darmas got no deals that day. xD Just a very angry swinging SIS operative and ultimately a blaster bolt to that pretty face of his.

For Cee's part, she was never particularly interested in Darmas's charms from the beginning, though I imagine she trusted him enough as an ally by the time this all comes out. Her main wound in all of this is having found out the opportunity to genuinely work for the greater good for once was all an orchestration to actually serve the enemy. In broad strokes, Cee ended up smuggling in an attempt to pay off inherited debts from her father, so very little of being a starship captain smuggling goods had ever been her choice, let alone her ideal choice. She's not particularly pleased that her wariness of the offer to privateer in the first place was perhaps not entirely misplaced given the company, but she doesn't hesitate to take the offer again from Sumalee. She's far more confident in the authenticity of the arrangement and its truly what she'd generally prefer to put her acquired talents to use for.

Truly though. This gave being able to clock Saresh a run for credits as far as satisfying decisions, lol! It's very important to me and my cause (this au) xD

The Starwake System would adore Pompompurin so dearly much ! Look at him there ! He's so friend shaped filled with endless love and joy ! There are no other universe where the Starwake System and Pompompurin are not friends ! . . . Micah extremely loves and enjoys anything that are soft to touch and food that have caramel on them ( Micah would often add onto sugary substances , including caramel , onto their food like waffles and popcorns and apples — occasionally , they’d be bold to add them onto food that they typically shouldn’t do , like . . . eggs and rice and sausages !? — much to Phoebus’ dismay . . . ) , so we can see these Micah and Pomponpurin always having a grand time bonding over sweets and softness ! Even Micah and Pompompurin can get jam sandwiches together . . . Pompompurin would love Micah’s soft star and cloud pattern blanket that they often carry in hand or inside of their backpack . . . ( We know this for sure that he would take the blanket to snuggle with when Micah isn’t using it or looking and hide with it before Micah would look for him and then catch him with the biggest giggly hug ! ) Most of the Starwakers enjoy being outside and going everywhere to learn and love more — they and Pompompurin would have so many fun and thirlling adventures together ! Pomponpurin enjoys collecting shoes and so does Philos and Micah , they can get cool shoes together and even the Starwake System can introduce Pomponpurin to heely shoes for them to travel around together in their cool heelies ! i had some similar thoughts earlier too! looking out for himself is definitely something she's been trying to teach him and it is sort of looking like it's finally paying off. i've been trying to figure out what exactly goes through her head when roman brings up logan souring on her but i can't quite pinpoint it. is it disappointment? anger? i don't know, she just looks sort of uncomfortable and it's killing me. it's the first time we see roman really sort of go against her and it doesn't even make his tummy hurt visibly. the absolute audacity when logan souring on gerri is literally his fault too. the shift in roman and gerri's dynamic is fascinating to me because it seems like everything that happens is just literally making it worse </3

As for my own inscription: the easy answeres would be either Scribe of Stories or Knight of Hearts. I'd imagine Scribe of Stories would be my advanced title, something akin to a reality warping Crusader with much more range, bit a reliance on narrative.

The harder answer is to diagnose myself for my negative title. I think the thing I lack most of self confidence, soul; and its a toss up if I need to manifest it in myself, or if you need to manifest it in the world around me. I'll go with Mage of Clubs, likely turning into Summoner of Soul, as my negative title.

let's be honest. mr dean "magic fingers" winchester who once turned a walkman into an emf meter DOES try to hijack his hearing aids so that they vibrate and give him a little head massage. the question is: does he succeed?

oh absolutely incredible concept here kath i wish i had your brain. i think that dean's priority would actually be to make his hearing aids bluetooth though, because i'm not sure how effective hearing aids would be as head massagers because they don't sit exactly against your head (mine don't, at least, they follow the back of my ears around a little). dean WOULD want to make that a possibility though and he's deranged enough to attempt it. he'd build a slightly chunkier more comfortable 'vibrator box' to sit on top of them that would give him a funky lil massage. that becomes more of like an external device which he makes out of bits he has on hand though rather than him actually fiddling with the physical hearing aids. when it comes to actually tinkering with the hearing aids themselves he would want bluetooth sooooooo bad but not be able to justify the cost of buying them when he could just always try and make them himself, right? and turns out he CAN'T just make them himself because he's not That Good but what he DOES manage to do is put a little radio inside each of them so he always has access to a classic rock station which he can turn on and off.

dean probably takes his hearing aids off the first second he can because he finds them kinda uncomfortable so it won't happen at home or in the car but sometimes when they're hanging out researching a case in a diner sam will look over at dean and see his ears and head vibrating slightly as dean mouths the words to a zeppelin song only he can hear <3
