So, some of you might remember, how I found an abandoned 'banished settlement' where people used to live 20 years ago, and they left plenty of cultivated and edible plants behind, including one huge rose plant. It was spread more than 10 meters in both directions, made thousands of roses, I used to decorate my entire place with them, dry them, they didn't have a scent so I didn't make food from them. However, the city has decided to build some ugly buildings in that place, so they flattened half of the area to the ground, made it into nothing but empty dirt. Needless to say I was devastated when I went foraging and found most of my plants, including the rose, gone.
However, the rose wasn't just a plant you can run over and destroy; in the spring I found new shoots, it's starting up again from the roots, and it's not going to get exterminated so easily. I do believe they're intending to destroy it completely, so I'm going to try and rescue it by taking some cuttings and propagating it.
Here's what it used to be vs what it is now.
:(
I took a few of the most sturdy stems I could find, I had to get plant cutters in order to do it, they will not break easily. Here's me propagating them at home:
All of the leaves and growth is stripped down, because a plant without roots cannot support foliage. For roses, I think stems of 12-15cm in lenght are reccomended for propagation, that way they have enough stem to try and grow roots from, and not too much to support. I stabbed them in a pot of soil, and then covered with this big glass thing, because cuttings will usually only grow in high humidity, they need to be supplied with water from air, because they don't have roots yet. I had to cut them down a bit more to fit them in, but I think that will be okay. I watered them excessively, and sprayed the cover with water too, so it would create super humid conditions.
I left this on the kitchen window, so it doesn't have to deal with a lot of sun or heat, it's best for cuttings to be put in mild conditions so they can focus on development of roots. If they start growing new foliage, that's the sign that the propagation is successful!
Here they are 10 days later:
To me it looks like all of them are already growing new foliage, but, it's suspicious, I don't think they would have managed to grow new roots so soon, in my mind it should take a ~while~. Maybe they're just using the plant power they had stored in the stem, and haven't figured out they've been turned into cuttings yet. The only way to really check would be to pluck them out and check for roots, but I won't do it yet, I'll leave them in here for at least 2 more weeks before trying to transplant them somewhere else. But for now it looks hopeful! I might have roses on my balcony!
Here's the first post I ever made about this rose, if you wanna see more pictures of how it looked.
(edit: I later looked into how long do rose cuttings take, and it said 2 months, but it also said that in late spring, you're supposed to only take young, flexible, and not-woody cuttings, and they'll grow faster. So I have messed up a little, sturdy cuttings are to be taken in the fall and winter and they're the most difficult ones to root. It also said you need 25cm and to bury them 70% in the ground. But it seems that it's still going well so do not follow the rules! I did have one that was young and flexible and that one is showing the strongest signs of growth.)

Hello all! For the Horizon Day of Service I decided to help out my native pollinators and maybe even some monarch butterflies! The solitary bees that frequent my garden LOVED my basil flowers when they went to flower last year, so I allowed all my basil to go to flower a bit early this year to help them out!
[ID: Two stacked planters filled with plants. The first is a green planter with calendulas, peppers, dwarf stock flowers, lanceleaf coreopsis, johnny jump ups, sweet alyssum, and basil plants which have gone to flower. The second is a tan planter with more flowering basil, marigolds, chamomile, squash, and a small melon vine. /end ID]
Then I planted even MORE basil so that when my first wave of flowers dies off, the bees have some more!
[ID: three basil plants in a white pot. Each plant is about 5 inches tall. They have not flowered yet. /end ID]
I’ve been making a valiant struggle against the grass around where I planted the milkweed, but that darn stuff sure is tenacious! Hopefully they get a bit bigger soon, and return next year!
[ID: two pictures of small milkweed plants, about 6 inches tall each. A hand is gently holding both plants, helping them to stand out against an army of grass trying to strangle them /end ID]
Finally, the bees really liked my nasturtiums in the late fall last year, so I’m starting some more sprouts to plant! Only one has sprouted so far, but I can see the others disturbing the soil! They should sprout soon.
[ID: a small nasturtium plant in a seedling tray, an inch tall. It has two leaves, and a white tag labeling it as “regular nasturtium” stuck into the soil near it. It is very cute. /end ID]

a longer post on the subject but i firmly believe that in the sequel(s) the schmidts and the aftons will be revealed to have been connected in some way prior to garrett's kidnapping / murder. whether its bc they're aftons, they're the movie version of the emilys, or some combination thereof, idk, but they've gotta have a link.
william operates around freddy's locations. he even deliberately sends mike to freddy's in order to kill him + abby instead of just killing them anywhere. but he travels to a completely different state in order to take and kill this singular random child? in the games, even the one kid killed outside of freddy's (charlie) is still directly outside of freddy's, and has another connection to him through henry. but garrett? seemingly random.
then he recognizes mike, the circumstances of which just confirm my belief that there's some connection. first he needs to know garrett's last name, and that he had a brother named mike. which okay, still makes me :-/ but not 100% impossible. maybe he interrogated garrett before killing him or smth idk. but then how does he succesfully recognize the two mike schmidts as being the same mike schmidt?
"mike schmidt" is a very generic name and they're in a completely separate state than his encounter with the last mike schmidt, but he's caught off guard after simply reading his name. after recognizing the name, he squints as mike, presumably trying to connect the child mike from nebraska to the grown man mike now, and based on how he operates after this he does recognize him, but how? we don't even know if william ever saw mike in nebraska. if he did, it wasn't for any significant amount of time, and it was years ago. i sometimes have a hard time recognizing childhood photos of my own family members, and im supposed to believe that william recognizes the grown adult version of a child he had little to no interaction with in a completely different state at least a decade ago?
presumably vanessa told william what mike told her about his brother, confirming to him that it's the same mike, but he knew / strongly suspected beforehand just from seeing him and reading his name!! why is the idea that they're the same mike even a possibility in his mind considering the locational difference? why did he suspect just from the name and appearance alone?? there has to be a deeper connection.

it's here....
I am watching all the trolls movie in one sitting while taking a break between each one to really process the colorful trip I'm about to go on
so obviously the first question I'd ask myself would be was trolls (2016) good?? and the answer is yeah it's pretty fun but not that it's fantastic more like smth I'd put on if I got bored and wanted to watch a silly movie with songs and bright fucking characters
so I'd give it a 7/10 maybe
now onto some notes and silly remarks shall we?
—————
• the movie starts with a scrapbooking montage/flashback where it's basically explains that bergens eat trolls to feel happy because they're miserable creatures that don't sing, dance or hug
and when the flashback actually starts we literally see gristle (who has NEVER eaten a troll) FUCKING SMILE LIKE??
"daddy omg it's trollstice I'm so excited!! 🥹"
tell me this boy is not buzzing with fucking joy rn look me dead in the eyes and tell me that
and yeah ik that what's said in the intro probably isn't all meant literally cuz when poppy and branch arrive to bergen town all the ppl there start singing clint eastwood by gorillaz (which was fucking hilarious LMAO)
• bridget and gristle are SO FUCKING ADORABLE LIKE LOOK AT THEM
they don't know they're destined to fall in love but bridget's sure as hell already in love with gristle lol
they're honestly so sweet and happy tgt I wish they explode I hate them sm (they're everything to me)
I can't believe they pulled a cinderella and I didn't hate it the entire time cuz ngl bridget is that girl she just doesn't know it
speaking of bridget....
• I love gristle duh he's so dumb and adorable and stupid and a literal man child but in an endearing way that somehow works
but bridget?? she truly means everything to me
she's just so miserable and sad in this movie it's awful to see so ty poppy for helping my girl out cuz goddamn was she in a horrible place yeesh...
I also could not get a ss of her with poppy but the besties??? the sisters?? the girls ever?? yeah they're like all that matters to me like that scene where bridget is set to ruin her life so poppy and the other trolls can escape cuz she showed her what true happiness was?? did not tear up at all 😎
• since I'm talking about bergens rn might as well say that I think the chef was a pretty damn good villain in this move
her motivations are clear, she has a consistent shitty personality and I don't find her that goofy or anything when she's carrying out her plan she's believable as an antagonist
her wanting to steal the throne and become queen kinda does make sense since she was banned from the town and developing a hatred/resentment for the same ppl that threw you away makes sense
and by "ppl" I mean the king aka the one on the throne so yeah she now wants to be queen and kill gristle lol
and since I'm talking about antagonists here let me talk about the biggest SNAKE in the room
ON THE NEXT POST 😁‼️

I have not written today. I have been playing Warframe instead. I have no excuse, it is just what happened.
But I do have a thing to say about Warframe.
There is a plant-like race you can do missions for and one of them is named Son.
He occasionally says, "Bye for now, you shiny thing."
And I can't not smile like a damn idiot every time I hear it.
If I could find who is responsible for that sound byte, I would thank them, but I can't, so I'm just yelling about it here.
