rosh hashanah approaches another year of contemplating the times ive had really good honey cake and wondering if i should try again but thats the road to eternal torment i must accept in my heart that maybe i am not ready to make a good honey cake and thats ok

#literally ill double the spices go for recipes with more oil or fat plenty of sugar and honey in the hopes that will make it #more flavorful and moist and yet every time its like bland and dry #and i explode #even my beloved smitten kitchen i tried her recipe and it turned out mediocre :((((((#when i know someone made that same recipe and it was one of the two really incredible honey cakes ive had before that haunt me #if id never had good honey cake i could accept its a mediocre pastry and not bother #but now im like ive tasted it before and i want to have it again :((

see, i actually think the problem with Gorillaz getting any kind of feature-length film and/or an animated series that is plot driven at all is that by this point in the band's existence it would be impossible for them to produce something that would meet fan expectations...

i've noticed that the nature of Gorillaz as a largely decentralized collaborative project means that everyone wants something different out of it, you know? fans tend to engage with it on wildly differing levels, depending on how engaged they are with a specific era of the band, a specific take on the characters, with the the actual musicians behind it, etc etc etc... by now the idea of "Gorillaz, but as a concrete narrative in a linear medium" has been so long hyped-up that i'd be willing to bet every demographic of fan has a very specific vision for what that looks like. and you just can't cater to all of them at once.

esp given the Gorillaz track record over the years of taking on projects that are way, way over-ambitious for the resources it has, i feel like through no fault of the band it'd be hard for the final product to be anything other than underwhelming...

idk Gorillaz is so interesting to me because of how amorphous it is, and always has been, as a project. i feel like that's just a quality that's been baked into the concept from the start, and i really wonder if trying to fully tie that down would please anybody as much as they think it would.

reading abt the barometz in the manga, i thought it was silly that laios said it tasted like crabs. cuz just how right? but then i eat a fruit (cooked like a vegetable) that first tastes like a typical nut but then got shrimp aftertaste (i dont like shrimps) anything could just taste like... anything. wow......

Jod help me I'm about to try something I'm allergic to to test if I'm allergic again

#its coconuts #ive decided to try mud wtr and i ordered their starter kit which comes with their creamer and sweetener #the creamer is made with coconut milk and the sweetener is made with coconut sugar #ive hated coconut since i was a kid bc it gives me a sort of cold burning sensation in my sinuses #and then i found out its not supposed to do that #the one time i actually ate a significant amount of coconut as a kid (instead of tasting it and instantly spitting it out)#was when there was a bottomless coconut shrimp basket deal going on at like red lobster or smth #and i love shrimp and couldnt really taste the coconut so i ate a shit ton #and then my throat and mouth got all itchy like my brothers whos allergic to tree nuts does when he eats pecans or walnuts #that was the last time i knowingly ate coconut #then like last year i started going to this boba tea place and getting jasmine tea with jelly boba a lot #and it made my throat itch too. but i had never really had jasmine tea before so i was like #'oh maybe its just bc the flower flavor is really strong? like kinda perfumey? im sure this is normal'#and it tasted good so i kept drinking it #a few months later i decided to google what jelly boba are made of bc i got curious #and i found out theyre made of coconut water 😭#so i switched to popping boba and stopped getting itchy #...and then a few months later i was like 'well maybe i just imagined it' and tried it again bc those jellies were GOOD #...and they did in fact still make my throat itchy. and then i realized i had just paid $7 for Potion of Mouth Hurty #........ANYWAYS im gonna try this coconut creamer and sugar when it comes in to see if it makes my throat itchy #anyone wanna put any money down on the result 😂#rambling #tbh this is probably better than my other plan which was tor try goji berries to see if im allergic to them #bc apparently goji berry can have cross-reactions with some of my other allergies #at least if the coconut stuff causes a reaction i know what that will be and the answer is throat itchy which is basically just annoying #i have no idea what the reaction to goji berry (if any) might be bc ive never had it before #plus if the creamer/sugar DOES make my throat itch i can just... stop using it and continue to drink the mud wtr without it #what would i do with an entire bottle of goji berry vitamins if i tried one and it gave me a reaction??

sauce really changes everything like some fish with just green beans and potatos is delicious the way it is but when you have a sour cream sauce with honey and garlic and lemon on the side it just takes it to a whole other level

im so addicted to chinese/japanese/korean street food videos if i moved/visited to any of them id gain sm weight but itd seriously be worth it

#thoughts #theres a lot of rich/heavy food here in the US but i feel like the taste is never worth the calories or having tummy ache #like its all processed or is only good because of extra sugar #when i see the street food of other countries its still obviously heavy and decadent #but its all prepared fresh and uses a variety of ingredients so i feel like its heavy food thats worth every bite #ykw what i mean. i never think its wrong to eat a lot or eat when u want #but the behated american heavy food/big portions honestly just lack flavor and variety that it doesnt seem worth it to eat all that

like why is it that the furthest ive ever strayed from ye olde white fantasy foods is that one time i let a player in a d&d game invent pizza in the feywild. why is that. literally i dont even represent the foods i eat in the settings i create

i saw la croix made a plum flavor and almost lost it at the target but when i got home and tried it, i remembered why i don't like la croix. it smells so so good though

#it sucks I have to chug it to even taste a smidge of what it's supposed to be #i NEVER find plum flavored ANYTHING that isn't some kind of fermented alcohol so this was a treat #unfortunately i ended up mixing crystal light packets in there. so its like an italian soda or whatever now #which honestly overall it still a much better alternative to drinking high fructose corn syrup sodas in the long run for me
