no ‘cause i will stay until 3am awake thinking about how johnny cade’s death shook me so much when i first read about it and how much it continues to hurt. because when i think about it, i can’t help but feel like he was literally robbed of his life, and we were robbed of seeing him and ponyboy grow up together and stay together no matter what.

can’t stop thinking about how ponyboy never got to see johnny’s slow but sure recovery and how johnny missed all the support and love from the gang and all the all-nighters they all pulled thinking that they could lose johnny at any moment given if they so much dared to close their eyes.

we missed ponyboy reading book after book for months to keep johnny company, to keep him motivated, to keep him away from intrusive thoughts and harmful situations. we never got to see the late nights they stayed up smoking and trying to not talk about the trauma and pain they went through during those damned days and bringing up the topic at all costs altogether.

we never got to see johnny getting better and dally feeling reassured about that, about the fact that the both of them are there and are okay and they'll keep moving forward one way or another. we couldn’t get to see johnny and pony graduating and pony packing his bags to go to college to another state and johnny and him embracing by the train not as a goodbye but as a ‘we’re gonna see each other in three months, don’t cry’.

johnny could never take his chance at making a life for himself and learning to love his own persona, moving away from his parents with the help of the gang and start working to earn his own money and feeling accomplished and cherished by his friends and finally feeling like he’s worth all he’s getting.

and we never got to see pony and him exchanging letters with lengthy updates and johnny giving him a little piece of the gang in each folded piece of paper he sent in pony’s way, and the awaited reunions by the station house during christmas or spring break or summer holidays.

and what hurts the most, irrevocably, is that nobody got to see johnny grow up and fall in love and make new friendships and live adventures as well as mundane moments in life and have his own path to follow freely. and yes, this is what pains me the most when i think about it, that the gang and us never got to see johnny having a future, nobody got to see johnny growing up.

and i think about what we could have gotten after the events of the book, about pony growing up without his best friend and missing all the things they could have done and become, and missing those letters and those reunions and those books and those stories. and maybe he would have fulfilled his wishes and would have got himself a college degree and a nice job and a family of his own one day, with the memories of who no longer were there anymore falling upon him as a foggy cluster, that one denim jacket never used again and the lot always empty and cold.

shout out to rookies!

This is going to be short. At least now that I’m typing this I hope it would be since I’m a few seconds from knocking out. On top of that, I know I’m going to forget really important people for the same reason of why I hope this would be short... also because as always, I am doing this last minute. ( peace!! )

“It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever witnessed,” Ten whispered into his phone as he poked his head over the couch. “I’m actually fearing for my life right now, bro.”

“Well what are they doing?” Johnny hissed over the line.

“They’re… dancing. In the kitchen. Making pancakes.”

“What the fu—get out of there bro! Obviously someone took our Y/N and replaced them with a pleasant one! Who knows what they’ll do next?”

“As plausible as that sounds… I’m just gonna ask them what’s up.”

“Noooo! Ten! You were so young! So full of potential!”

“I’ll see you on the other side.” He hung up and resumed observing you closely over the back of the couch. “Hey, Y/N! What’s up?”

“Just making some pancakes,” you replied happily before you started humming. “Want some?”

“Uh… yeah? But can I just ask why you’re being so… pleasant? Didn’t you have class with cute dimpled boy?”

“I did indeed, dear friend.”

He frowned at the use of “dear friend.” You were never this nice. Maybe Johnny was onto something here…

“So get this: I actually talked to him today without embarrassing myself!” He almost died right there. Was he imagining this? Was he hallucinating? “Turns out Mark was right. He found my awkwardness cute.”

“Um, what?”

“And,” you drawled out with a little shoulder shimmy, “I got his number!”

“You did what now?”

You shimmied once more. “I got his ten digit cellular mobile telephone device number!”

He gaped at you in utter shock. There was absolutely no way you had spoken to the boy let alone got his digits. There was just no way. It had taken you like a month to even talk to Johnny! And you were living with him! And then another two months to speak a word to Ten, and it was even worse with Doyoung—wait. Doyoung.

“What are you going to do about your thing with Doyoung?” he asked.

“What thing?”

“Your flirtationship.”

“I mean, who says we have to end it?”

“Um, your boyfriend?”

“Don’t have one.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, what was the whole,” he shimmied in an imitation of you, “getting his number about then?”

“Well he knows about my flirtationship with Doyoung, and he doesn’t seem bothered by it. So I don’t think he’ll make us stop?”

“Babe, I’m going to give you the harsh truth here: no guy wants their date mate to flirt with someone else.”

“…But he’s friends with Doyoung.”

“Oh my god, Y/N, just face that you’re going to have to be just friends with the bunny boy.”

“But I am just friends with him.”

“Please just kill me now. It is literally impossible to deal with you!”

“…Do you want some pancakes?”

“Oh my god, yes please.”

“Yo, guys I’m—are those pancakes I smell?”

You and Ten looked up lazily to see Doyoung standing there sniffing the air with his eyes closed in bliss. He looked like an idiot.

“Yeah, I made some earlier.”

“Wait, you made pancakes? Did, like, Ten threaten you?”

“Uh, no, no I did not, thank you very much,” Ten replied with a glare in the other boy’s direction. “I was actually the one fearing for my life. They were humming too while doing it. I thought I was going to die.”

Doyoung snorted and plopped on the couch beside you, shifting to let you tangle your legs with his. “Wow, I never thought I’d live to see the day Y/N willingly cooked anything for anyone.”

“She got dimple boy’s number.”

“Oh, yeah, they confessed last week.”

“And you didn’t tell us?”

“Kind of slipped my mind. We had a lot of projects to get done.”

“…Whatever. I just hope you’re aware that this little thing has to end,” Ten told him as he gestured to the two of them.

“Why? Jaehyun and I are friends, and he knows Y/N and I do a little harmless flirting.”

“THE DIMPLE BOY IS JAEHYUN?”

You and Doyoung winced and leaned back as Ten screeched in your faces. Maybe Doyoung shouldn’t have mentioned that…

“Whoa, Ten, calm down.”

“Wh—how could you not tell us you liked Jaehyun?” Ten demanded. “We could have hooked you up way earlier!”

“Because, like I said before, the last time you tried to set me up with Yuta, we almost killed Jaemin!”

“He was fine! Just a broken arm! Nothing a little trip to the hospital couldn’t fix!”

“Oh my god, this is why I never let you set me up with anyone! Someone’s actually going to end up dead, Ten! As in deceased.”

“I know what dead means, thank you.”

“Oh do you? Congrats.”

“I still can’t believe you would keep this from us! I thought we were friends!”

“We are! That’s why I didn’t tell you! Doyoung only found out because we got coffee at Jaehyun’s shop when we were studying, and Mark… well let’s just say Mark found out in a way I really wish had never happened.”

“Wait, Mark knows?” Ten rolled his eyes and flailed his limbs about in frustration. “Mark found out before us? What is this treachery? I am severely disappointed in you, Y/N. I thought you were better than this scheming and going around behind our back.”

“You are blowing this way out of proportion.”

“YoU aRe BlOwInG tHiS wAy OuT oF pRoPoRtIoN,” he mocked back.

“What are you? Spongebob?”

“That’s a quality meme,” Doyoung muttered. “Don’t compare him to that.”

“How dare you insult me like this? The both of you!”

“Oh dear, what’s going on now?” Johnny sighed as he came into the apartment and heard the argument.

“Y/N likes Jaehyun and Doyoung and Mark knew before us and now apparently they’re both interested in each other!”

“Wait… Mark and Doyoung are interested in each other?”

“Wh—no! Jaehyun and Y/N!”

“But… but I thought Doyoung and Y/N had a thing going on.”

“It’s a friendship! A flirtationship! A friendship in which you flirt!” you clarified.

“Ah, I see.”

“Why aren’t you upset about this?” Ten whined.

“Because I don’t crave gossip like you, Ten.”

“Whoa, harsh.”

Johnny rolled his eyes and ruffled Ten’s hair. “It’s true, though, and you know it.”

“So… are you sure you don’t want us to set you up with Jaehyun because I really—“

“Ten, no!” you all shouted to the boy.

“Ugh, oh my god, fine. I was just trying to help.”

“…No but really, are we sure Y/N and I have to stop flirting?”

“Dude!”

“Ow! This is important, Y/N!” He smacked your hands away and glared down at you. “We have a nice repertoire going on, and I’m sorry, but if your thing with Jaehyun threatens that, I’m pulling the bros before hoes card.”

“…Okay, yeah, no, I’m going to agree with you there.”

You two high-fived and settled back in to look at Johnny and Ten who were staring at you with strange expressions.

“What is wrong with you two?” Johnny asked before turning the TV on. “You guys are just so weird, and that’s saying something coming from me.”

“Oh, please, you and Ten have the strangest relationship here and don’t you even try to deny it.”

“…Don’t try to kinkshame our love.”

“Do you even know what that means?”

“No but I’m trying!”

“Oh my god what is wrong with all of us?”

“Don’t pull me into this!”

“You pulled yourself into this!”

The four of you started bickering about this and that, and you were struck with the realization that for how odd it all was, this was how you knew you all loved each other. It was a strange way of showing affection, but you’d be worried if you all got along perfectly all the time. These guys made you safe and happy when most of the time you were so confused and ashamed in the world. You all may insult each other to no end, but when it came down to it, you’d die for each other. Well… maybe not die because that was kind of permanent, but definitely be maimed. Actually, no, because that hurt. You’d totally take a few insults, though. That was fair game. If that isn’t true friendship then you don’t know what is.

Late Late Show

Summary: At the launch of your new series Riverdale, you and Cole’s relationship has finally become public after KJ leaked a photo of you two out of character onto Twitter. In addition to dating him, your character is Jughead’s love interest, and so you have an interview with James Cordon.

Word Count: 1141

“Everyone please welcome, one of the newest stars of the CW’s hit Riverdale, (Y/N) (Y/L/N)!”

A chorus of applause and cheers greeted you as you stepped into the main studio of The Late Late Show with James Corden, causing a large smile to appear on your face as you walked out. Waving at the exceptionally large crowd, you high-fived hands as you went, trying to stay sturdy on your heels as you made your way up the stage.

Last minute, you tripped, staggering onto the couch where in order to play off your fumble, you laid down on your side with your hand propping up your head. The audience laughed at your charm, and so did James as he held a hand to his heart.

“My god!” He exclaimed over the dying laughter. “I think I just had a heart attack!” The audience laughed, and so did he while he slapped the desk. “Are you--are you okay?”

“Yep,” you confirmed, finally sitting up and fixing yourself. “I wanted to make an entrance.” Your comment was a success as the audience laughed with you, chuckling a little more as you started to untack your heels and set them beside the couch.

“I think that’s the best decision for now,” James chuckled, gesturing towards your shoes. “But welcome to the Late Late show! We’re so happy to have you here!”

“I’m happy to be here,” you smiled, and a whoop from the crowd got them applauding again.

“So, how’s Hollywood treating you? What’s it like being on the set of Riverdale?” He asked.

“Hollywood’s surreal,” you answered. “It feels like just yesterday I’m seeing all these celebrities on the TV in my hometown, and now it’s like I’ll just see Johnny Depp at Walmart randomly.” Everyone chuckled, and you smiled widely. “Being on Riverdale is just as surreal, and a blessing. I’ve always wanted to be an actress, and I know have this amazing opportunity. I now work with amazing people, forming these extremely close bonds with each other, and I honestly look forward to shooting every day.”

“It truly is amazing,” James agreed. “Just like your talent, might I add.”

“Thank you,” you blushed.

“I’m not kidding you guys,” he addressed the audience. “I’m surprised you haven’t been discovered sooner, watching you on the screen is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Here’s a brief clip for you all to see.”

As you all watched the brief clip form Riverdale, you realized it was from an episode that hadn’t aired yet. It was from one of your more challenging scenes with Cole’s character Jughead, where you both are in an argument about his father. (Y/C/N) was trying to have Jughead bail him out of Jail, but he adamantly refused, claiming he’d finally given up on his father.

The clip ended, and the audience was in a loud applause in which James joined. “How do you play such a challenging role on set?”

“Uh,” you started, trying to think. “So Cole and I have this ritual with our scenes when we get new scripts, partly for memorization, and partly for performance,” you paused, trying to get your words together as you started to make hand movements with your words. “We go over the script at least four times before we take it to the studio. Once, is where we both give each other pointers on how we believe each line should go and how to interpret the scene. The second is where we go over it in completely ridiculous accents, in the opposite way of how we want the scene to go,” you smile as a few giggles are coaxed out of the crowd. “The third time we make amendments to what we suggested the first time through, and the last time we do a full out with each other, with actions and everything so that we don’t have any surprises on set.”

“But I’m guessing the writers and directors do,” James laughed, and you joined.

“Definitely. I try putting forth everything to try and have the audience believe that I’ve transformed into (Y/C/N), and that she’s a believable human being despite anything that may happen.”

“You should give me some pointers later, yea?”

You giggled at James. “Of course.”

“Now,” he scooted his chair closer, indicating a slight change of subject. “I think we’re all thinking the same thing here. Rumor has it that not only is (Y/C/N) and Jughead involved in a relationship, but so are you and Cole.”

You smiled shyly, and a chorus of ooohs, rose from the audience.

“Now, I want direct confirmation,” he said. “Because KJ Apa, he plays Archie for those of you who don’t know, uploaded this photo of you and Cole onto Twitter and his Instagram, with the caption: #Get a Room.”

The audience got louder with their noises, and your face turned red as you laughed and hid your face behind your hands.

“Don’t hold out on us (Y/N),” James chuckled. “Is this rumor true?”

Everything got really quiet, and you peeked between your fingers before turning a darker shade of red and nodding.”

Things erupted once again, and James jumped in happiness for a moment before settling back down. “My wife now owes me $40,” he laughed, before settling down. “So, like, how did this happen? How is it working on set together? Is he here right now?”

You laughed at his rapid fire questions. “He actually is here right now, he’s backstage,” you paused for a few woohs. “We’ve actually been together secretly for two years. We’re not a very public couple, so we kept it from the limelight. When Riverdale was casting and he got a call from his agent, he had just come back home from another small project.” You smiled at the memories. “He actually, refused to play Jughead unless they casted me too.”

Awwws rang out in the room, and you smiled wider.

“That is just absolutely adorable,” James commented, sniffling. “Someone get me some tissues.

Giggling with the audience at him, you answered his other questions. “I actually hadn’t expected them to agree, since my character isn’t one from the comic, but everything worked out and I’m extremely grateful for all the fans for accepting me and (Y/C/N) because it’s absolutely amazing. We’re not apart as much anymore, we sort of have the same film schedule, and we only kiss each other on set.”

James laughed. “Well great for you guys, I hope to see you both a lot more. How do the fans feel about it?”

“Like I said, they’ve been nothing but welcoming and supportive, and we’ve actually been shipped for awhile so I feel like most of them would accept our relationship.”

“Just know that I already do,” James replied, smiling. “Now, (Y/N), are you up for a game?”

You smiled mischievously. “Always.”

I feel this might be accurate. Barba bending the rules (more on that below) for a lover or a friend (say, Alex Munoz or Eddie etc), out of loyalty. That would compromise him somewhat, but his motives would still be relatively pure. Depending on the rule/law he broke, of course.

revolutionarynerd answered: A sexual secret. Even in NYC a bisexual ADA for instance would raise eyebrows. My money is on Barba’s personal private life getting spread all over the news/internets in the course of a hacking operation targeting someone higher up.

It's a revenge porn ep and when the suspect('s allies) find out Barba is prosecuting they threaten to leak sexts/nudes/dating profiles b/c they do not know who they are fucking with. Barba goes ahead, out for blood & maybe even using it to score some points in court. But then after sentencing we see his private self; humiliated, confidence wilting. Not helped by the media hi-lighting his humiliation rather than his victory.

Re; Barba being in the closet: there are valid arguments on both sides. If Barba is not straight (just for speculation purposes, of course, because we’ve never seen him with a romantic partner) it’s possible he would be out and proud, because he seems like he doesn’t give a fuck about what people think of him. But it’s also possible he’d be in a glass closet, just for the sake of his job (and/or his future aspirations. I touched on this in my fic Running, btw, which involves Barba running for the DA position). So he may, in fact, want his “secret” to stay a secret.

I must say, the idea of forcibly outing Barba is interesting, because it would allow for an intense but not necessarily preachy Very Special Episode, plus we might get some awesome Raul acting in the process, but would the current writers care enough to do that well?

The idea of a forbidden affair (with a woman or a man who’s married or otherwise problematic) seems a little more likely. Especially if it’s someone else at the DA’s office, and they both get exposed. Maybe Barba would choose to fall on his sword to protect his partner? This could give us some juicy moments for sure.

At any rate, I’d love to see Barba with a crack in his armor. Either because he feels exposed, or because he’s willing to be exposed to protect someone he cares about.

Professional Secret

I love this. It might not necessarily fit with the concept of a “secret” (i.e. something Barba has been hiding) but I LOVE the idea of a frame-up. Barba would be indignant, and the squad would be supportive, they’d reassure him they don’t believe the hackers and they’ll do anything in their power to restore his reputation. That would give us a much needed glance into the SVU team dynamics, and it would show us just how much Liv and the squad value Barba. So it definitely won’t happen.

OH HELL NO Secret

If he did, he defends himself, saying he knows now it was wrong, it was long time ago, he's a different person, he's grown since then - but it alienates him from the SVU squad when they find out. The hacked info is used to discredit him and his work with SVU, & by extension squad themselves.

I do like the idea of a secret which would compromise his work/the convictions he’s managed to get in his career, BUT NOPE. Like, you might be on the right track re; a secret which would paint him, the DA’s office and the squad in a bad light, and that’s the reason they all need to solve the case, if not make sure the secret stays hidden, but HELL NO.

More Hell No Secrets

Barba is in fact innocent (excluding withholding of evidence) and it's information that somehow threatens his mother. Or else, shows him burying something harmful to his mother. 5. The hacking reveals something with his health - I'd bet on psychiatric, maaaybe rehab of some kind.

On another show, I might appreciate topics like these being explored delicately. On SVU, nah. I would love a reference to Barba’s mother/family, but the fact the DA’s office is hacked, and that’s how Barba’s secret is revealed (via his work email, basically) probably means it would involve either Barba’s work or his personal life (because he may have foolishly used a work account for something non-work-related).

Actual Secret

@webbgirl34 has what is probably the most likely theory, though:

With the way this season has gone, I’d be willing to lay money it ends up being something to do with Liv. Like him covering up for something for her or him doing something on the gray side to help her out.

I can just see that happening. Barba will reach out to Liv, not to reveal a personal secret which might give us some insight into his character (God forbid!), but to tell her something she already knows. Like, “Hey, Liv, remember that time I helped you with (X)? It’s back to bite us in the ass. We need to fix this, or both we could both lose our jobs.”

Imagine if Barba’s secret involves, like, Johnny D (remember, lol?) i.e. Noah’s paternity, i.e. the time Barba was perfectly willing to bend the rules to help Olivia? Or, if the writers are unwilling to rewatch their own show and revisit actual past events, what if they come up with another instance of him possibly even breaking the law, just to help Liv?

Last season, we did see a Barba who followed the rules and ratted on Liv/Tucker, but arguably that was because he was mad/jealous. Or, because he really was that stringent about the law (lol). Maybe we’ll go back to rule-bending Barba? In a ret-conned way (since we won’t actually witness said rule-bending)? We’ll hear about a made up past incident, a plot contrivance, to better sel the “secret” angle?

Again, I can totally see this happening. I just hope it doesn’t. Even though it would likely be better than a potentially compromising, salacious and deeply personal secret.
