Description : The story follows Iwakura Kazumi, a man currently down on his luck after his company goes down. While trying to rebuild his business and in need of a place to stay, he takes up the caretaker position at the Maneki Neko Jinja, a small shrine built by his great-grandmother in honor of cats. But he soon finds out that he has to share the space with someone–or something; three bakeneko who have been living there for a long time, and who seem to know his great-grandmother. Now he has to learn how to deal not only with the three cats, but also with the people who come and go to the shrine.

Here it is: the Name Change-O Chart 2000 in Japanese.
This isn't my copy of the book, which is still in shipment ;v; image credits go to tumblr user @smolquacking-kazoo who generously gave me pics from their copy.
Since this chart is in Japanese, it does not use the 26-letter Arabic alphabet, but instead uses 44 characters from the Hiragana alphabet (minus the ん character and some other obsolete ones).
Unfortunately, this means that the third chart using the last letter of the last name is omitted in this version. Instead, each character has two new names assigned to it: the top for first name and the bottom for surname, both using the first character of the subject’s real name.
the text on the left of the first page is simply a less long-winded explanation of how the whole system works. And below the cut, you'll find my translation of the actual chart.
Enjoy, and maybe you can use this chart on some of your fave anime characters lol
(note!! since Japanese is rife with homophones and there are no kanji here to indicate specific meanings, plus the weird mix of katakana, these translations involve a fair bit of guesswork and creativity on my part. please feel free to correct me on any of these translations as I'm sure there are probably much better ways to translate most of these. for now though, I at least hope I get the general meanings across)

After the company he established went bankrupt and he was left with nothing but the clothes on his back, Iwakura Kazumi comes to a small shrine at the far end of Tokyo to become its caretaker. However, upon arriving, he finds three cats who have called the shrine their home; a big, ugly ginger tabby and two furball-like gray kittens, one a gray-she and the other a gray-he.
As it turns out, they are bakeneko (cats that turned into yokai) and can change into human forms; the tabby into a handsome man with a death glare, and the two kittens into twins about three years of age…
Maneki Neko Jinja no Tenteko Maina Hibi (The Fortune Cat Shrine’s Hectic Days) is a light novel series by Arima Kaoru, with original character designs by Yuuko, and a manga adaptation of the first novel by Yachimata Jun. It centers on Iwakura Kazumi, a man currently down on his luck after his company goes down. While trying to rebuild his business and in need of a place to stay, he takes up the caretaker position at the Maneki Neko Jinja, a small shrine built by his great-grandmother in honor of cats. But he soon finds out that he has to share the space with someone–or something: three bakeneko who have been living there for a long time, and who seem to know his great-grandmother. Now he has to learn how to deal not only with the three cats, but also with the people who come and go to the shrine.
Aside from having bakeneko as main characters, the story is actually pretty grounded; it mostly focuses on Kazumi’s days as the caretaker of the shrine and how he handles the changes in his life after the incident with his company. There’s also something between Tora (the ugly tabby/ikemen bakeneko) and Kazumi’s great-grandmother, though I felt like it was touched upon in the manga very briefly. But then, the manga only adapts the first novel, and most likely, there’s more material in the LNs, so it’s possible this is tackled more in the novels (I’ve only read the manga (^ ^; )).
A manga with a simple story, nothing over-complicated, but nonetheless enjoyable, for me at least.
