This is going to sound kind of funny, but ITV consummation/intimate scenes are what made me realize that I wasn't a very sexual person. As weird/unclear as some of those scenes are, I liked some of the fade-to-black intimate scenes or the scenes that are suggestive but don't show anything super intimate. I liked seeing couples being physically intimate in ways that weren't sexual. I also liked that I could interpret some of these scenes as non-sexual if I felt like it. I didn't realize until +
+ college that this wasn't necessarily the way most people felt about physical intimacy. But I've always preferred physical intimacy in the form of cuddling or kissing or strong hugs more than sexual intimacy (I'm not opposed to sex, I just can't see myself having it all that often). Does this make sense or does this just sound like lack of experience? How do you feel about sexuality/intimacy in ITV/media in general? Do you have any particular opinions about it?
Hi anon!!!!!
I don't think it's funny (as in a manner of ridicule) at all, and it makes perfect sense to me! I think it's great that you came to a realization about yourself with the help of media. That's a good thing!!!!!!!
As tharki as I am, I have always really loved the way Tellywood portrays intimacy. The restrictions of the medium have always led to creative ways of properly portraying that special bond between the characters, without getting too gratuitous. You can read more about my thoughts in my intimacy in tellywood tag! (Oh and this post, which is adjacent to the topic, but I just feel has some good examples of Tellywood intimacy done well v/s those that didn't work for me.)

rules: tag nine people you want to know better
tagged by: @andthatscanon and @sassyfoxunknown (idk when I was tagged, I’m so sorry)
three ships (I’m going with ships that I’m currently obsessed with): PriRa (PriyaxRam from Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2; I’m pretty sure almost everyone calls them RaYa but I’ve already tagged all their shit as PriRa so fuck it), Elizajen (LizziexJen from Legacies, I will never call them Jenzzie), and Methan (MGxEthan, also from Legacies)
first ever ship: definitely all six OG winx club ships (tecnaxtimmy is the only one that’s still going strong in my personal opinion, wow, they really fucked up every other ship so badly, I hate it here)
last song: Jaan Ban Gaye by Mithoon, Vishal Mishra and Asees Kaur from the film Kudha Haafiz (they kept playing this song on Bhagya Lakshmi so I caved and searched for it)
last movie: my family and I had a movie marathon last weekend where we re-watched Dhoom 2 (the superior Dhoom movie), watched Hungama 2 for the very first time (I’ve seen worse sequels/reboots) and I finally got everyone to watch Uncharted (please keep in mind that this would’ve been my 4th time watching the movie, I LOVE THIS MOVIE)
currently reading: more than I should Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett (I’m a little more than halfway done, it’s a fun time but I’m also more stressed than I probably should because I’m just dramatic like that), Neon Gods by Katee Roberts (I have so many conflicted feelings about this book and I don’t know if I want to actually finish it), Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthrust (I just started reading it because I need a break from the two books that I just mentioned) and King of Fools by Amanda Foody (because I missed the world of The Shadow Game and thought it was time to finally continue reading the trilogy, I only have a few chapters left)
currently watching: most tellywood shows that are currently on air (also, the entirety of KSBKBT is currently available and idk if I should watch before it goes away because do I really need that in my life rn??)
currently consuming: noting atm because I’m fasting for Ramadan
currently craving: food, because I’m fasting for Ramadan... wait, could water also count as a craving because if so, water over food

Don't want to sound pompous and condescending. But trying to understand why women like arrogant bastards as main characters in fiction. Would they be just as agreeable if they were in a toxic relationship with such guys in real life? I usually can't connect with such characters. May be I am an old soul, 20 going 50. Since you seem to have a long drama watching experience, care to shed some light?
It’s …………….. complicated. It’s not just fiction, many women go for this type irl also. This doesn’t have anything to do with drama watching, it’s about the standards that women have to deal with in heterosexual relationships. And it’s coz no one has really taught us how to be in healthy relationships. Most parents don’t sit their kids down and tell them what healthy/unhealthy relationships are like; at max, young women are taught how to attract/please their partners and hang on to them, and never really about the reciprocation they deserve (whether it be physical, mental, or emotional), or to prioritize their own well-being. The media doesn’t help, with its toxic and wildly inaccurate portrayals of “love” either. I know it took me many a year to unfuck my own mind from the Bollywood/Tellywood ideas of “pyaar” that were established in my formative years (when the internet wasn’t such a prominent platform for feminism) and to determine what healthy relationships should be like. Tbh, it’s a privilege to be able to do that, because that means we have had access to resources that teach us well, whether it be guiding forces (parents, teachers, friends, etc.) who taught us well, information via books/the internet, or personal experience, which have helped establish ground rules for what we should look out for in relationships. Many women still don’t know/understand the basic principles and values of feminism and thus are uninformed of these things (which is like……….. at the top of the feminism pyramid. Basic human rights are at the base.) You can’t really hold it against them (unless they’re being willfully ignorant.)
Coming a little more to the fiction part of it, these characters are always sold as more attractive and flashy than the more sensible and sorted dudes. If Biryani is on the menu, why would anyone go for Dal-Chawal over it???? It’s all in the writing and portrayal of the character. We’re sold lead characters in a very calculated manner by the makers; with everything from their clothes/style to their mannerisms to their background music, subconsciously signalling that this is the character you are supposed to root for/get attached to. That continuous subliminal messaging WORKS if you’re just consuming media mindlessly without stopping to analyze what exactly it is that you’re imbibing. Baaki toh, it’s about one’s own personal values and standards; everyone consumes media through the lens shaped by their own experiences and opinions; if they’re uninformed about feminism and healthy relationships, then they’re not going to hold the same progressive views as us.

Amazing people 5/? @tellywoodtrash
TT!!!
I am so thankful for the day I decided to search through the tellywood tag and found your blog. To have met you has been one of the highlights of my life and I am so, so happy. So happy!!!
From our long discussions, to crying in frustration at ITV's stupidity, to drooling over people, we have done it all, and we have been very happy!
Thank you so much for being a part of my tumblr journey. Thank you for being a part of my life ♥️

Tellywood Bloggers
If you hate it so much, don’t watch? I understand critiquing a show while following it. But these bloggers just want to shit on something for cool points. While also making posts which have a condescending tone and may make others watching the show feel like less than for it.
I enjoy TV in all its crappy gloriousness for those small gut wrenching moments that make me come back to them or the chemistry of the leads or drama and emotions. Tellywood is not famous for being progressive. While it can be problematic for a million different reasons, acknowledge that it is, and that it doesn’t have any real impact on your everyday life and move on. Tellywood is like my sane corner where I can unwind in the privacy of my home without being judged.
Given the nature of my blog, i follow and reblog a lot of tellywood bloggers. So far I’ve come across wonderful people who take the time out to do live blogs and summaries (Tellywoodtrash, parmeshwari, Ishqsa, theincorriginlemagpie) and I absolutely enjoy spamming their replies. But I also see a new breed of tellywood bloggers who spam the tag of the shows with negativity and lots of hate. They take Tellywood and themselves way too seriously.
This is one of the reasons i like blogs like Ishqsa and Tellywoodtrash. They give shows a chance, make up their minds if it’s their kinda show and no matter how much their followers badger them, they just do their thing and watch what they watch. Why would anyone waste time and energy on watching something they hate and then take the time out to fill the tags with that hate?
