Proud of my German Adings this weekend. They went undefeated, scoring a ton of points, to reach the #ECJTPrague final. Sadly, they came one win short of the title, but a solid tournament showing nonetheless. This #beer #stein from Germany didn’t come in time for me to use it as one of my #TeamTotzeKapp props at the #Oktoberfest cash spiel. Andrew was making fun of me last night because he says I always come up with the weirdest things that don’t make sense for curling because I had #BabyYoda sunglasses for the team 😂 Apparently I’m slacking because I didn’t bring any goats with me last night. This was a German themed event that I planned to use to help promote 610 & the 2023 Curling Cares Calendar so it’s definitely not 🐐 or Swedish related. Yes, I do have 2 German bears for props too 🐻 What I really need to get is a German beer stein. . . My friends and I dressed up in Baby Yoda onesies to cheer on Team Germany during draw 2 of the 2022 Worlds & I had a poster that said Sixten Yoda Man, hence the Baby Yoda sunglasses. I finally got to wear some of my new German gear on the ice at @curlsandiego tonight. Wore my Sutor Heritage Collection jersey from @DynastyCurling and my Totzek jacket from @foxglide to go w/ my other set of #earrings from @prairiewindsdesign I think I like these German #curlingearrings more than the other set I wore to dance rehearsal last night, but both are cool. . . I didn’t succeed at avoiding sweeping tonight. My body was so beat up from dance last night & swimming this morning that I needed a nap, which made me about 10 minutes late to the pickup game so I couldn’t play skip. I ended up trading places w/ Clyde who was playing vice for Rene who was visiting from Palm Springs (originally from Moosejaw, SK). We had quite a battle - stole 1 in the 8the end to tie. Honestly, we should’ve won that game despite having 2 women on our team, but we had a disastrous 6th end where instead of scoring 3 or 4, we gave up a steal. Almost got it all back in the 7th end - we tried to split the top rock for 3 but it was an inch or two short. Similar to dance (not an ambi-turner), I can really only sweep to the right of the thrower (I’ve been skipping for years now so I never really sweep unless it’s near/in the house) so I tried to force myself to sweep on the left side tonight. I’ll need a lot of work and practice for sure when it comes to sweeping and playing front-end for @curlingpilipinas My draw weight tonight was probably the best it’s been all year especially on arena ice. Good to know I can dial the bombs down. There’s hope for me developing a draw game in the future. Now if I can only set up guards perfectly and make tick shots…. Had lots of fun at OC Curling’s Oktoberfest cash spiel. Thanks Andrew, Mark, and Stephanie for joining me in representing @teamtotzek & @teamkapp.roehrs Stephanie is a newbie and had only ever played on Curl SD’s ice. She was in awe of OC’s ice. I can’t wait to take her to SCCC and Coyotes so she can experience dedicated ice (she might be on my Vagspiel team in February). . . We got so many compliments on our “Olympic” uniforms last night. I wish I could’ve been more into the theme, but there was no way I’d survive curling in a dirndl as a skip. I might consider it for when the last end gets rescheduled (we ran out of time & got chased off the ice by hockey players), but we’ll see. . . Hard to believe #WJCC2022 is over. Bummed my #Adings had a rough day during the final, but Ate is still super proud of @teamkapp for winning silver. And yes, they won silver! It’s easy to forget that sometimes, but there are some Canadians & Norwegians who’d rather trade places right now 😜 In the end, I feel like Craik just had a little more experience than Kapp and leaned on that experience enough to get the victory. . . To borrow a page from what 🐐 Niklas Edin said in an interview about his 2018 Olympic loss - it’s not like they played a bad game, they just faced a team w/ more experience. I’m paraphrasing a little but basically Nik said he lost to someone who was playing in his 4th Olympics (Shuster). 4 years later he got to be the guy playing in his 4th Olympics & the one who took home Olympic gold, seemingly against all odds because everyone & their mom basically already handed Mouat the gold even before the Olympics started. Craik played second for Whyte when Scotland got bronze in 2019 & then skipped the Scottish team to another bronze in 2020. This was Benny’s first year at World Juniors & he skipped his team to silver 👏 I’m so proud & my heart is full of hope for next year. @bennykapp @felix.messenzehl & @johannes.scheuerl have 2 more cracks at getting that Worlds gold 👊💪 #Füssen next year would be prime timing 😉 Oh how I wish I could be there to cheer in person. . . Super proud of @teamkapp on their performance at #WJCC2022 Ate is super proud of her #Adings and have full faith in their abilities to build upon this year. It’s going to interesting finding out what the team will look like next season as Magnus & Klaudius age out of juniors and what effect if any home advantage will have since Füssen will host the next World Juniors. My #Adings lost the #therecanonlybeone battle vs SCO earlier today. It was a close one during the first half and beyond - it got to 4-4 before SCO pulled away and got the 6-4 lead. Throughout much of the first half of the game, I was like “WTF are you doing Booboo?!?” repeatedly. These young Germans were ballsy and basically psyched Craik into making mistakes which resulted in the YOINK in end 1 and the deuce in end 3, but I was also bracing myself because I felt like it was just a matter of time when that strategy would stop working and would blow up in their face and in a way it did - they gave up a steal that gave SCO the 4-3 lead after the 5th end. That was the turning point of the game for me. Lots of games left to play at #WJCC2022 SCO & NOR will eventually play & one will lose if they’re still undefeated at that point. I’m hoping for a fierce bounce back for @teamkapp after this - no more losses! Come back stronger than ever 👊💪 You got this!
