“Now can you say Shuri?” The young scientist cooed. “Sure- ee.” Your son babbled in amusement as Shuri tried to combine him to say her name. “Suffe,” he giggled clapping his hands. “No sureee- eeee” the princess tried once again, to no avail. “Shuri,” you called. Alerting your son to your presence. He quickly reached out for you as you walked over to the princess. “Shuri, he is only nine months old. He can barely say, baba.” you grinned picking the chubby baby from her arms. ”hi umama's joy, ” you grinned. Kissing the young prince’s cheeks
“You are never to young to be a genius. Y/N look at me. I’ve been running the Wakandan technology department since I was 16. He could be doing it by 12.” The princess grinned. “Let’s get him walking first, then we can talk about becoming a child prodigy.” You smiled kissing the side of Shuri’s forehead. “Where is your brother?” You asked setting your son on his little feet. Gently supporting his arms, you followed him as he tried to toddle around. “Oh he told me to give this to you,” Shuri exclaimed handing you an elegantly folded note. “Here I’ll trade you Dakari for the note.” Shuri switched places with you. Dakari whimpered slightly as you walked from behind him. “I’m right here unyana wam,” you kissed his cheek once more before settling on the bench.
Hello my love,
I will be back late from my meeting tonight. Okoye has the project plans for the next phase of The Lost Tribe.
All my love,
T’Challa
“I guess I should actually get some work done today,” you sighed pushing yourself up off of the bench. “Come on Dakari. Let’s get some work done before Baba gets home,” The young prince giggled. You laughed, sweeping him out of Shuri’s arms. You both gave the princess a hug. “I’ll see you at dinner eh?” Shuri nodded her assent. You kissed her forehead once more. Carrying Dakari on your hip, you began the short walk to the training rooms.
The sounds and smells of the gym, hit you long before the sight did. The Dora stood in challenge formation, as a new initiate battled Okoye. Noticing your presence, the general winked before flipping the poor woman on her back. ”that will be all for the day, ” she smiled, extending an arm to help the woman up. ”Good job Aduba, we will continue working. But today you held your own. For that, I am proud.” the general smiled. Aduba’s smile stretched across the planes of her face. She saluted the general in time with the other Dora. Before running excitedly to her friends.
Okoye walked over to you. Her attention was immediately drawn to the giggling Dakari. ”nkosana wam omncinci, ” she cooed. ”the little prince is not so little anymore, ” you huffed, shifting Dakari higher on your hip. ”he will be a great warrior, ” she smiled.
”so far he is a certified genius and a great warrior. I'm afraid unyana wam will have the biggest head of them all, ” You teased, while Dakari giggled. You bounced him on your hip. ”T’Challa said you had some business plans for me?” You questioned the general. “Ah, Yes. I had them taken to your office when I decided to train.” She frowned apologetically. “Eh, I guess I will go do a final sweep through of the chateau before the construction workers come for renovations. Would you like to come with us?” You offered. “I am afraid I cannot. We are getting together to plan Ayo’s surprise party while she is out of town. “I was wondering who could convince the general to take a trip off,” You teased, I should have known only Ayo could do it.”
“Well, she was right. I trust that she can take care of T’Challa. We also needed to work on this party.” the woman admitted. “I will not hold you long then. I will be looking for my invitation in the mail,” you smiled. Okoye nodded once more before jogging over to the Doras. Your Kimoyo beads hummed gently on your wrist. You turned your palm up in surprise, before your mother’s hologram appeared from your beads. “So she is alive?” she sassed, raising an eyebrow in faux shock. “Hello to you too umama,” you sighed as you started your journey out to the car. “What is all that sighing for?” she frowned. “Because you aren’t calling about me mama.” She feigned shock, “Who says I am not calling about my wonderful, beautiful, daughter who can take care of herself.”
Mama, you have not asked about me since Dakari was born,” you frowned slightly. “Since you brought it up, how is my little Daka?” your mother grinned. Making kissy faces at the baby in your arms. “Goodbye mama,” you sighed about to turn your wrist over. “Wait a minute. I don’t know who you think you are, hanging up in your mother’s face like that. Don’t get too grown miss thang.” the older woman fussed through the phone. “I am sorry umama.” you apologized. “Now, I was calling to ask if i could hang out with you and Daka today. If you aren’t too busy?” she inquired. “Only if you do not mind watching him so I can get some work done.” you offered. “I never mind,” she grinned. “I’ve got to stop by my office to grab some paperwork then we will be by to pick you up.” you explained. “I am looking forward to it. See you soon babycakes.” She blew a final kiss into the beads. You turned your wrist over. Pushing open your office door, you grabbed the new files off of your desk. “What do you think about going old school today Daka?” you cooed. Walking down the halls, you quickly notified the security of your departure. Grabbing the keys to the car you shared with T’Challa, you stepped in to the brightly lit garage.
You sat Dakari on one hip, hoisting the baby car seat onto the other. You briefly sat dakari in the front seat. Maneuvering the seat into the car, you grabbed the prince and placed him his car seat. At your command, the seat belts slid into place. Ignoring Dakari’s cries of protest, you slipped into the front seat. Waving the metal key plate over the sensor, the car locked into your kimoyo beads. The engine purred quietly as you switched rinto reverse. Ari Lennox poured through the speakers. The city center fell behind as you headed to your mother’s house. You smoothly floated into the driveway. Not wanting to leave Dakari alone, and not necessarily wanting to take him out of the seat. You sent your mother a quick message.
A minute later she appeared on the front porch. Quickly locking the front door, she glides down the steps and into the back seat. After showering Dakari with kisses she settled in, finally turning to you. “Hey baby,” she smiled. “Hey mama.” You pulled the car into gear and quickly began the journey to Gracemeadow.
“How are you my love?” Your mom called from the backseat. Dakari latched onto her finger, playing in his own little world. “I’m good. Been rather busy lately.” You signaled a turn. The hover train passed by quietly. “That’s good. Are you adjusting to the new workload well?” She inquired. “ I believe so. Most of my duties are speaking and interacting with the people. Also with social outreach. The worst parts are paperwork and council meetings. I still prefer paperwork to having to deal with the elders,” you frowned.
“Ah Yes, those pompous pain in the asses,” your mother frowned as well. Your mouth fell open in shock. As long as you had known her, your mother was not one to use obscene language for no reason. “What? I have had my fair share of runs ins with the council,” she shrugged, the corners of her mouth turning up into the hint of a smile. “Believe or not, who the best friend of the king marries, is kind of a big deal. Council had your grandparents and I vetted twice.” She explained. “You’re joking right?” She laughed. “I wish I was..,” she paused, “speaking of Royal men. How is my son in law?” A laugh tumbled out of your throat before you could stop it. “What is so funny?”
“Mama. No one is married. You’ve been calling T’Challa your son in law since the day you met him. Back in year 10.” You smiled, recalling the way the then prince’s eyes widened in shock. “Call it mother’s intuition, but I just knew it was meant to be. You two were going to get together, and stay together. Albeit a very roundabout way, you both made the way back to each other.” She grinned. “And you both gave me my favorite grandchild.” She cooed over Dakari. “Mama, Daka is your only grandchild, unless there’s something I need to,” you started. “For now.” She interrupted. “Though. If T’Challa gets his way, he won’t be alone for long,” the older woman grinned as the car landed gently in front of the chateau.
“What do you mean has his way,” You turned to face her as she unbuckled your son. “Don’t try to fool me. The way you two go at it. Even now that Dakari is born, I’m surprised you’re not pregnant again.” She dismissed. Stepping out of the car with a sleeping Dakari. “Now I know he’s got a promise ring and a whole country on the premise that he’s going to marry you. But have you two talked about making it official?” She pressed following behind as you unlocked the wooden door. “It is official mama. I am a queen in training.”
“Yeah yeah yeah, that’s all good and great for you. But I mean wedding date official.” She insisted, shutting the large door behind her. Your sandled feet padded around on the tile floors as you searched the corners of the kitchen. “We will when we are ready mama. We’ve been in counciling for a few months. It’s been beneficial to us both. We both had some issues to deal with. The biggest thing has been trust and vulnerability. I am ready whenever T’Challa is, But I will not rush him to his decision. He needs to be ready to take that leap with me. If he’s not there yet, he’s not there yet. That’s ok.” You explained.
“ I am glad you all are taking the time to better yourselves. But is been ten years. 8 of those you’ve been together for. Time is marching on. Neither of your are getting any younger. Don’t you want to start a family?” She insisted. “We have started a family.” you rebutted. “One that is planned,” she corrected. You turned in frustration as she stared at you from the kitchen island. You sighed, gently falling back onto the kitchen counter. You took the moment to glance out he window, your mother lightly bouncing Dakari back to sleep. Your head dropped with the outpouring of breath. Searching for the right way to express your feelings. “For the past two weeks, T’Challa has barely said two words to me umama. It went from nightly calls to letters. Letters that he has passed to me through other people. For Bast’s sake they are typed mama. He doesn’t even take the time to write me a letter.” your voice quivered with unshed tears. You dabbed at the corner of your eyes where you felt tears beginning to form. “intombazana yakho,” your mother started as you wiped furiously at the tears that watered the roses of your cheeks. “I did not mean to hurt you,” she tried again. Laughter strangled its way out of your throat. The soft sound worried your mother. Shaking your head, you grabbed the closest dish towel to dry your eyes. “No, I shouldn’t have worried you.” you apologized. “I… I just don’t know what to do. I don’t know if I have done something. If I messed it all up.” Your mother frowned. Cradling Dakari in one arm she made her way over to you and pulled you close. “Do not blame yourself my love. Just talk to him.” she soothed, rubbing circles on the curve of your back. “And you never worry me ok. It’s my job to be here for you. Even now, when you’ve got a child of your own.” You nodded, continuing to gather the tears that streamed down your face.
The sound of the front door opening startled you both. “Hello?” T’Challa’s voice rang through the house. “Entle?” Your betrothed’s voice reached Dakari’s ears. Your son began to cry out for his father. As the footsteps padded closer, you turned to the sink, scrambling to wipe the tears from under your eyes. “Umama,” T’challa’s voice laced with surprise filled the room. You heard them embrace before Dakari’s giggled floated through the room. His change in arms was now evident. “Entle?” T’Challa addressed you, “Y/N? Are you not happy to see me?” he teased. “Come on Dakari,” your mom interrupted. “Come one baby boy, I’ll show you where you lived while you were in mommy’s tummy.” The little prince whined, his grandmother prying him from his father’s arms. The king waited until your mother had left the room before her approached you. “Entle? What happened. You fidgeted with the dish towel, straightening it over and over as you avoided the question that currently sat. Fat and heavy on your vocal chords. “T’Challa, did I do something wrong?” you whispered. “What? Why would you think that?” he came closer, turning you to face him. “I.. I just- You haven’t looked at me in weeks T’Challa.” you confessed.
“What do you mean,” he frowned, “We’ve been with each other every night. Multiple times a night love. I don’t think I could do much more,” he laughed cautiously. “No.. Not that… I mean that’s fine- I mean it’s great,” you rambled. “Then what do you mean entle. I cannot help until you communicate a problem.” he stooped down to catch your gaze. Which up until then, had been intent on studying the marble floors. “ Outside of the bedroom. In the halls, I try to catch your eye and you look the other direction. You are always out with Nakia or Okoye. You spend hours in the lab with shuri and ask not to be disturbed. You take dinner in your office. Alone. You come in. We have sex. Then you’re up before the sun, and gone long before I wake.” you spilled. Emotions flooded back into your voice. T’challa’s head dropped, and so did your heart. “It’s just, if- if you didn’t want me around anymore you should have said so.” the last words, tumbled out as a whisper. Silence smothered the room as T’Challa hung his head in silence. “I should have listened to Shuri,” he finally cursed. “What?” you asked tentatively. “I am sorry Entle,” he apologized. He took both of your hands in his own. “I was trying to surprise you.” he sighed. “I was with Nakia and Okoye trying to find a ring for you. So I could propose. I mean we went to every country in the world. I couldn’t make up my mind. So the last time. I asked Shuri to accompany us. And we found it.” his mouth broke into a grin. “I was planning this whole elaborate plan. And Dakari and I had matching suits.” his enthusiasm was infectious. You soon found yourself grinning slightly as well. “ I was trying to keep it a secret. I knew if I was around you too long I would tell it all. So I tried to avoid you,” his grin fell, “ but it seems I hurt you instead. I am truly sorry entle. I just wanted to surprise you.” he frowned. “Oh,” silence filled the kitchen once more, “ I guess I always ruin your surprises huh?” you joke half heartedly. He came to lean against the counter next to you. Intertwining your fingers, he pressed a light kiss to your knuckles. “Mhmm,” he hummed, “ I am sorry I caused you to doubt yourself. It was never you.” He assured. “Hmm… What happened with the ring?” you pried innocently. “Noo,” T’Challa laughed. “What. I just asked a question?” You shrugged. “I’ve already ruined the surprise partly. Let me have this one thing,” the king begged. “Fine,” you conceded. “You want something to drink?” You walked over to the large fridge, which you always kept stocked with water. “I am good. Shuri made us stop by her favorite restaurant before we came back.” He replied, watching you move around the kitchen. Fingering the velvet box in his suit pocket. “Oh,” you glanced over your shoulder. You grabbed a couple of water bottles out of the closet. Moving towards the fridge to restock the bottles. “Yeah, quite a curious little establishment.” he replied, watching as you moved back to the pantry for more water. “They are unlike any other american restaurant i’ve been to entle. I mean- They make tons of money selling chicken, and lemonade. While only being open 6 days a week. With reasonable hours.” T’Challa explained. Your snort surprised and warmed the young king’s heart as you placed the remaining bottles in the fridge. As his fingers ran over the black box, he knew this was the moment.
“Chick-fil-a?” your laugh pulled him back down to earth. “Yes! I have become quite fond of that American Lemonade.” he laughed. He took a deep breath, and kneeled behind you. “Think we could get it flown in for the wedding?” he finished. ‘Are you serious T’Challa? You laughed, closing the large fridge door. You shook your head turning to find the love of your life kneeling before you. Your gasp prompted him to speak. “Very. Because I want you Y/N Fezile to marry me. To be my wife, and raise our son together. And to sip lemonade together. You in the most beautiful dress ever created wearing my ring and my last name. Forever.”
I think we should call Chick-fil-a,” you cried ambushing him in a bear hug after a pregnant silence. His laugh filled the room, “We should huh?” You nodded as tears streamed down your face. He gently gripped your left hand and pulled the stunning ring out of the box. A fresh wave of tears cascaded down your cheeks as it slid over your finger. “Its beautiful T’Challa,” you sighed. The ring glinted in the setting sun.”You are beautiful,” T’Challa pressed a kiss to the ring. Dakari crawled from around the corner. He plopped himself in the middle of you two. “Our family, is beautiful.” T’Challa corrected kissing his son’s cheek. “Our family is the future. And the future is beautiful,” You smiled. Pressing a kiss to both of your boys’ cheeks. The sun setting behind the small family. Only to rise again, over Wakanda. And its new royal family.

Mama’s having a baby child//T’challa X BLACK!Reader
Warning: Fluff, cute shit.
Tags: @idilly @luckylovelyone @Mosaicpieces
Author’s Note: My third work. Please enjoy!!!!
Tumblr media
After taking 6 pregnancy tests, you decided to just accept the facts. You were pregnant with T'challa's baby and when that truly worked on you, you became anxious. You two have been married for about 4 months now. What would people think? What would HE think? You knew he wanted children, but so soon?
You stood outside of his office for about 6 whole minutes, contemplating whether you should knock and just go and tell him.
"He is your husband." you whispered to yourself, " He deserves to know."
 Finally, you knocked.
"Come in." He called out.
He smiled when you walked in, " Why are you knocking?" He asked with playfulness in his voice, "You are my wife. You know that you can just walk in right?"
You chuckled nervously, " Yeah. Still new at this marriage thing."
He gave you a smile that warmed your heart. He was so handsome. How did you get so lucky?
You made your way to him and sat down on the chair across from him.
"What is on your mind, my love?"
You took a deep breath. Here you go. You took his hand that was laying on his desk into yours. You captured his eyes and in his eyes, you saw nothing back but love.
This man was really in love with you...
"Baby," you started, " I'm pregnant."
" I know."
You quickly let go of his hands in surprise. He knew?....HE...KNEW...
"You knew? H-How?" you stuttered, " And you ain't say shit? Had me worrying. How come you ain't say nothing."
T'challa rubs his face. " I didn't say anything because I wanted you to tell me."
"  How did you know?" you asked again.
"I smelled it in you."
Oh. You didn't know his powers were at that level. Well, that's what you get for thinking you can keep a secret from the black panther.
" I wasn't aware that I can actually smell something like that until it happened." He explained, " The morning sickness also helped confirmed things and yes, I noticed."
The room turned quiet for a few seconds until he said, " I am happy and I know you're going to be a great mom."
You smiled. He always knows exactly what to say. You went over to him and straddle him.
" I love you so much," you told him then captured his lips.
                                                      ....
THANKS, 4 READING. Don’t forget to submit requests, I’m starting them next week.... so yeah.

Welcome home (Stephen Strange x reader)
MINOR ENDGAME SPOILERS
Summary: after the decimation, Stephen comes back to not only a battle but to another surprise.
A/N: yeah so I wrote a second part to the very first fanfic I ever wrote. After watching Endgame, which completely ended me I’m still so devastated, I kept thinking about Sleep talking. soooooo... there are a few Endgame Spoilers ahead so beware of that.
First part here
Tumblr media
*
Everything went by fast, too fast. One second everyone thought they had saved the universe, then the other the Avengers tower was in shambles. Y/n laid on her stomach next to a piece of debris, somewhere near her something was on fire. She coughed and groaned, as she did she felt pain radiating down her abdomen. Pushing her self up she brought her hand down to her stomach and saw a cut through her suit and groaned.
Y/n closed her eyes and exhaled deeply before running towards Steve and the Titan, as she did she grabbed her katanas from her back and yelled out.
“Shield!” She yelled, Steve threw it just the right height for her to jump off of it and planted one of her katana swords on Thano’s shoulder. Steve distracting him as she tried to cause more injury. It worked for a while until Thanos threw her at Steve sending both into a piece of the fallen tower.
“You alright kid?” Steve asked panting, y/n groaned at the question and held her stomach. She heard Thanos call the rest of his army, thousands of creatures coming to attack them.
“Holy shit” she whispered, “I have my gun and a couple rounds of amo along with escrima sticks I don’t thinks it’s enough to hold him cap” she hissed as Thor made his way towards them.
Shakily Steve stood up, he gave y/n a reassuring nod as he walked towards the line in front of Thanos. They exchanged words, but in that moment she couldn’t hear much from the ringing in her ears. Y/n only saw Steve get a hold of what was left of his shield, slowly she stood up and grabbed her sword.
“Steve, you tell my kids I love them” she whispered as she stood besides them, Steve swallowed hard. He froze as he heard something through his com, someone familiar. Before he could say anything y/n heard the all too familiar cackling of a portal opening. She turned and saw three people: Okoye, Tchalla and Shuri. Y/n gasped as more people appeared, she felt tears in her eyes as Wong stepped out and looked directly at her. She waited for something, anything. Until he gave her a nod.
More and more people stepped out of the portals, until she saw the one person. Her husband, stepping out of one of them. She gasped and held her breath. Stephen turned her way and froze at the sight of his wife. It has been forever, forever since they last held each other.
In that moment, y/n wanted to forget about the battle and run towards her husband. She wanted to let him know about their kids, how much she’s missed him and just hold him tight and never let go. But there were other things at hand, the universe depended on them.
“Avengers!” Steve called out as they waited for their cue, y/n watched the line with tears in her eyes “assemble” he finished as they all ran towards Thanos’ armies. All fighting for revenge and redemption.
Y/n ran towards one of them, tall and strong. She raised her sword up and attacked it along with another two that were caught off guard. Once she had killed the other two and was focused on the tall one she felt it grab her and throw her at something, more or so someone. She groaned and held her side as she sat up looking down at the figure.
“Beloved” the deep voice she missed so much spoke, she gasped and watched as her husband stood up and gave her his shaky hand.
“Stephen” she whispered as she pulled him into a long kiss and pulled apart, there were tears in her eyes. She was happy and she knew that her kids would be too, they would finally meet their dad.
“How’s our child?” He asked, his eyes getting lost in her features. Y/n furrowed her brows and shook her head.
“How did you- you knew I was pregnant?” She asked as one of the creatures ran toward them. She grabbed the katana and sliced, Stephen chuckled as they stood back to back and fought up incoming rabid things.
“Of course I knew” he rolled his eyes and kicked one of them off as she jumped in and stabbed it.
“Our children are amazing” She grunted as she kicked another one and sliced. Stephen pauses his fighting as she continued to tear the things apart.
“Children as in more than one?” He asked, y/n grunted and jumped off a piece of what seemed the training room in the tower and stabbed one of the aliens.
“Surpriiiisee “ she sang as she removed her sword and looked up at Stephen who saw the small lake that was near the tower come towards them. He used his scorcey to control it, but in the moment another one of the creatures ran towards him. “Beam me!” She yelled, a small patch of orange floated off the ground. Running towards it she grabbed her gun and flipped in mid air pointing the gun and shooting the thing before it got to her husband.
“You were saying?” He asked, y/n rolled her eyes and set grabbed her knife from her side and kept fighting. She panted and kicked the things as they came, Stephen doing the same.
“Twin-“ she yelled out before something grabbed her and threw her. Stephen turned to the new type of creature that attacked his wife and restrained is as he fought another next to him. Y/n stood up and ran towards the thing with her katana. Before she can do anything else she paused and turned to her husband. "Twins'' she answered before running towards Peter who had the gauntlet gripped tight.
*
Both Stephen and Y/n headed home, home not being the sanctum but the home she had with her children. She reached for the key under the flower pot and walked in to hear the silence of the tv. Y/n realized that it was late and the kids had fallen asleep along with Katy, their babysitter.
Meanwhile, Stephen froze outside of the house, nervous to meet his children. Y/n turned to him and grabbed his hand, pulling him towards the house. His hand instinctivley wrapped around her waist, he kept it there afraid to let her go.
"Do they know who I am?'' he asked, y/n smiled, she brought her hand up and placed it on his jaw and gave him a nod.
"of course they do,'' she whispered. "Vincent, our little boy carries our wedding picture in his pocket everywhere. And our daughter, Beverly always asks Wong to describe you because apparently my descriptions arent enough'' she smiles as she fixes his hoodie.
"Beverly?'' he asked
"named our little boy after your middle name and Beverly after your mom'' she whsipered as she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a kiss. Their lips seemed to find their way back to eachother, as if it were some sort of megnetic pulse.
''what are they like?'' he asked, she rested her head on his chest as they slowly swayed to and fro. She hummed at the thought of her children, the two most important people in her life.
"They're perfect'' she whispered, "Both are curious, too curios they want to see how much they could scare me. Vince loves dinosours and is obsessed with star wars. Bev, well bev is into taking things apart and putting them back together again.'' she chuckled as she listened to his heartbeat.
"another surgeon in the making?'' he asked, y/n scoffed and smiled at the thought.
''They laugh and talk. He looks too much like you, he has your eyes stephen.'' she closed her own and imagined her children. "and well, Bev. That little nugget has your thinking face, your scowl. You can never seperate them, because they start to cry.''
“Really?” He asked, y/n grabbed his hand and lead him through their house. The light from the TV shining on the tired babysitter, Stephen glanced at the woman as they continued to walk towards the stairs. Y/n hummed softly as she went up the steps and lead him down the hallway and into a room. She slowly opened the door, Stephen curiously glanced and saw two beds.
The nightlight plugged in on one side of the bedroom was enough for him to see. He saw two toddlers, y/n smiled and pulled him into the room where he had a clearer view. Stephen was at a loss for words.
His son, cuddled up next to a blanket and held on tight to a stuffed bear. He noticed the jet black hair, the small details of his face. He then turned to see his daughter who was peacefully asleep, she too held on tight to a stuffed animal. His gaze drifted to the small nightstand between the two, an anatomy notebook and a folded picture on top of it. Stephen gasped, his heart was warm at the sight of his two children.
Y/n placed her hand on his arm, looking towards him to see his eyes glasses over. She gave him a small smile, Stephen turned to her and pulled her into an embrace. He pulled away and placed a kiss on her forehead and chuckled.
“Welcome home” she whispered.

“Alright your grace,” the doctor begin as she prepared the birthing room around the royal couple. “Y/N, please call me Y/N” you interrupted. Dr.Mayre chuckled, “Not one for royal titles, are we?” you shook your head no as she begin cleaning off an area of your stomach. “We are going to induce late labor now. Now, in the best interest of the child, we are not going to speed up labor and we can not proceed with an epidural. This is already a high-risk delivery, we do not want to add in any more unnecessary factors.” the African woman explained as she inserted a needle into the side of your still swollen stomach. “Do you have any idea of how long she will be inlabor?” T’Challa questioned. “Do you have somewhere to be your majesty?” Dr. Mayre smirked as she moved to wash her hands at the nearby sink.
The king shook his head. “Then I suggest you get very comfortable your majesty. This could take a few minutes, or a few hours. The same as any normal delivery. Your body will proceed through the late stages of labour normally, so now we wait.” she withdrew the needle and began cleaning her area. “I have some rounds to complete. I will be back shortly. If labor pains begin, please let a nurse know in my absence.” the woman squeezed your hand softly before saluting her king, and exiting the spacious maternity suite.
“How are you feeling love?” T’Challa settled on the side of the bed and gently gripped your hand. “Nervous,” You sighed, one hand settling on your still swollen stomach. “I’ve never done this before T’Challa. I don’t know what I am doing. What if he doesn’t like me?” You worried.
“Who entle?” The king questioned. “Our son,” you whispered, your face falling. “What if I can’t be the perfect mother for him? He deserves the best, What if…” you began to ramble.
“Hey, breathe,” the man soothed running a hand over your curls. The king settled into the small bed next to you in order to pull you into his lap. “He will love you because you are his mother. And we are only human, neither of us will be perfect, but we can try our hardest. Together,” he smiled. “It is I who should be worried. You two have been close for months now,” The king jokes.
A short laugh escaped your lips, before worry and panic sank in as the first signs of contractions hit. Your face contorted in pain as a wave of searing heat engulfed your stomach and back. T’Challa shot up and allowed you to squeeze his hand as your mouth hung open in a silent scream. “Okoye!” T’Challa yelled as the contraction passed. “Ewe kumkani!” Okoye burst into the sound of the king’s voice. Please, find a nurse and inform her that y/n is in labor.” The king ordered. Okoye nodded quickly and nodded to her accompanying doras. Two broke off with her to race to find the nurse.
“T’Challa,” You panted desperately trying to remember how Ramonda had taught you to breathe. “I am right here y/n forever and always, ”The king kissed your hand as his was crushed in a vice-like grip. “Well not if you keep crushing my hand like that.” the king winced. Once the contraction passed you sank back into the hospital bed, seeking to lower your heart rate. “I… I thought… you were the… black panther?” you joked breathily. You groaned as another contraction washed over you. A whimper escaped as you reached out for T’Challa. When his hand found yours, he was abruptly yanked over to you. “T’Challa, I am not doing this again. No sex, no nothing.” You asserted. You released T’Challa back into his seat and slumped onto the bed.
“Entle, you do not mean that,” he insisted, questioning slightly as you narrowed your eyes. “Yes, I do,” you spoke through gritted teeth. “What can I do to take your mind off the contractions,” he quickly switched topics, silently praying you would change your mind once the baby was born. “I do not know T’Challa,” you cried out in frustration. The king sat back wrecking his brain before the perfect distraction crossed his mind. “I have a new outreach program in the works,” he began as a contraction rolled over you. You cried out in anguish as the muscles in your stomach and lower back tensed all at once. In the most painful way possible.
“T’Challa, is this really the best time to discuss work?” you sighed, as your body allowed you to relax once more. “Well, it was supposed to be a surprise, but I wanted to give you a distraction. I was only trying to hel….” the king started to apologize. “Where is she?” A sharp voice rang through the door.
“Mama!” you sat up as your mother and Ramonda burst through the door together. “Oh, my baby” your mother cooed flying over to yourbedside. T’Challa rose to greet his mother, who presented him with a hasty hug. “Umama,” the forgotten son called. The Queen mother placed a kiss on her son’s forehead before moving over to his girlfriend. “How are you my dear, are they too intense. No matter what my son says. We can and we will have them provide an epidural for you.” the mother rambled as she stroke your forehead. You groaned as another contraction rolled over your body. “They can’t perform an epidural, it will cause unnecessary complications in the delivery, T’Challa explained as you struggled to catch your breath. You nodded along with his statement. “I’m fine,” you finally breathed out. Your mother took to wiping the sweat off of your brow.
“How is mommy doing?” Dr.Mayre asked as she breezed into the room. You nodded, blowing the breath you had been holding out of your mouth. “Good, Good. Just keep breathing, we are gonna check out how dilated mommy is. Then I’m gonna prep some more for his highness to make his entrance.” the fairly young doctor explained as she quickly washed her hands. Everyone sat on edge as the woman checked under the modesty covering. “Good news,” she began, rising from under the cloth. “His Highness is coming quickly. Mommy is about 9 cm dilated. I wanna get to ten before we start pushing.” Dr. explained as she rolled over to the family. “Have we decided on who is staying in the room?” She searched the room. “I just….” You groaned as another contraction hit. “Want T’Challa to stay..” you breathed out.
Ramonda and your mother both looked up in shock. “Are you sure baby girl?” Your mom asked, brushing the short kinky baby curls back into your puff. “Yes mama. I’m sorry. But I want to experience this with T’Challa. We…” your face contorted in pain as another contraction rolled over you. “will be married soon. I want to see our first born with my husband,” you reach out for T’Challa’s hand.
“Very well then,” the mothers smiled kissing your forehead. “Keep her calm son,” Ramonda warned. The king nodded as she pressed a kiss to his forehead. Dr.Mayre reappeared from under the cloth. “Well mommy is at 9.5 cm. Once we hit ten we are gonna start pushing.”
You nodded in response squeezing T’Challa’s hands in your own. “We’ll be right outside the whole time,” your mom reminded before following Ramonda out of the room. “I… love you,” You smiled up at T’Challa breathily. “I love you too entle.” A few more contractions passed before Dr. said the magic words. “Ok sister y/n, are you ready?” She peaked over the cloth. You nodded, sitting up on both of your elbows. “Whenever you're ready, just give me one good push.”
“The good news is, he doesn’t have T’Challa’s head,” Shuri stated. “Shuri!” Ramonda hissed as she pinched her daughters arm half heartedly. Holding in a smile of her own. “He does favor y/n,” Nakia laughed gently rocking the baby. Hours later you all sat quietly in the hospital suite. Nakia, Ramonda, Okoye and Shuri, sat around the little prince. Nakia gently rocking him. You lay in the bed, your head cradled on T’Challa’s chest. His hands ran peacefully up and down your shoulders. Softly lulling you to sleep. “He has my coloring,” T’Challa insisted. “T’Challa, we are almost the same skin color love,” You laughed softly. “And my hairline,” he insisted.
“Yes, like that is a blessing,” Shuri rolled her eyes, fishing her nephews fist from under the swaddle. “Think about it this way, if he favors y/n in face. Then he’ll favor you in his mannerisms,” Okoye offered. Nakia and Shuri groaned instantly. “Like we need another old man in this palace.” Shuri teased. “Why don’t you all just go to your own rooms,” T’Challa fussed. “Relax,” you smiled. “He’s here and he’s alive. Safely. That’s all that matters.”
“And you. You are alive. I didn’t want to lose either of you,” T’Challa added. Pressing a kiss to your temple. “Go to sleep,” he whispered. The attention in the room back on your son as he let out a small yawn. “You have not slept since you gave birth.” The king encouraged. “But what if he needs me?” You asked, snuggling deeper into his side. “We’ll wake you up when he does. Sleep my love.” He instructed pulling you closer. “Sleep.”
“The room is finished your majesty.” Your eyes opened slowly as the whir of machinery swirled around you. “What room,” you whispered as you pushed yourself up in the bed. You smiled, your eyes finding T’Challa gently rocking your son bare chested. His eyes already locked onto yours. “Thank you,” he nodded to the messenger. “How are you feeling?” He placed your son back in his bed before walking over to you. “Why’d you put him down?” You pouted, the king wrapping his arms around you. “Because I wanted to hold my girlfriend in my arms. Am I not cute enough for you?” The teased. “Both of my boys are adorable,” you giggled pressing a kiss to your boyfriend’s nose.
“What room were you talking about?” You broke the silence as T’Challa held you gently. “It’s a surprise,” he replied. “Can I see?” You popped up from his embrace. “You can’t wait?” He chuckled disentangling himself. “Patience is not really my forte,” You smiled. “ ah, but it is a virtue, no?” The king teased. “Ah, But there are few people who would call me a virtuous woman after the hell I've raised in this palace,” You grinned. “I don’t think Wakanda would survive without me. The people need a little unpredictable.”
“It’s a good thing they won’t have to any longer. This time I’m keeping you right here y/n Fezile,” The king replied. Gently helping you into the wheelchair by the door. “I’d like that Mr. Udaku.” T’Challa picked up your softly whimpering son. He rocks him gently before placing him in your arms. “Say hello again to umama,” the king crooned as he kissed the wiggling newborns forehead. “Hello, Dakari, mama’s joy.” The newborn yawns before settling into his mother’s arms. “Hi baby,” you whispered. T’Challa smiled before rolling you both out into the hallway.
“I am sorry y/n.” He spoke after a period ofsilence. Laced with tiny gurgles from your son. “For what?” You frowned staring up into his beautiful brown eyes. The very same ones that were reflected in your son’s face. “ for everything. I uprooted your whole life. Very selfishly. Then I dragged you into this mess. Then the period of time where I neglected you and our son,” The king rambled. “Hey,” you called. Causing the king to pause. “Come here.” You sat up in your chair. Gently bouncing your son as he began to wriggle in your arms. “T’Challa, as long as we live in the past, we cannot move into the future love. Look at Dakari. He is the future. Our future together. No, it did not happen on my intended timing. Nor when I was expecting it. But he is here, and he’s perfect. That is all that matters. Yes, we both made mistakes in the past, but they all happened for a reason, so we must move into the future. Will it take time to get back to where we were? Yes. But we will get there. In our own time. We don’t need to rush, because now we’ve got forever.”
“Tears formed in the corner of T’Challa’s eyes. He allowed you to wipe away the tears with your thumb, pressing his face into your palm. “Now can I see the surprise?” A laugh tumbled out of his lips as he stood. He wheeled you to a door guarded by two Dora before nodding for them to open the door. The doors groaned open, unveiling a large nursery. The sun just setting over the mountains in the distance. A hand flew to your mouth as T’Challa wheeled you in further into the room. “I know you were staying in the chateau, but I hoped that now maybe, since Dakari is here. You’d maybe want to move back in?” The king asked nervously.
“T’Challa I, I don’t know what to say.” The King’s face fell slightly at your admission. “No, I understand. I’ll have them move the crib to the guest house.” He frowned. “No!” Yobacktracked. “No, I mean…. What I meant to say was. I don’t know how to thank you. I’d love to move back to T’Challa.” You smiled. “Oh,” a grin grew on the young king's face.
He moved behind you. Wrapping you and Dakari in his arms once more. The small family taking in the sunset. Together. “I have one more surprise,” The king started. “Is it my birthday?” You joked as you turn to face him. Your son turning in your arms. The king chuckled lightly, “No but I know how much you loved your job….. And I can’t help but feel that is my fault that you had to leave that job.” he frowned. “Hey, remember. We can not change the past my love.” you soothed. Running a hand along his jaw. “I know. But a man. Can attempt to right his wrongs.” he replied. “I am starting a new program. After, what happened with N’Jadaka. I must attempt to atone for more wrongs than that of my own. Starting with the lost tribe initiative. Here and in Sanctuary cities around the world. We will establish a center, to locate left behind children, spouses, and significant others of war dogs. Whether the war dog committed a crime against their country or they have moved on to the ancestral plane. Their loved ones will be brought here, if they so choose, and given all that is due to them. Such as housing, work, schooling, and a living stipend to help them off of their feet.” The king explained. You quickly quelled the cries of your son, before looking into T’Challa’s eyes. “That is wonderful T’Challa.” You smiled.
“I want you to be our head of operations. Y/N. I want you, to bring the first lost child home.”

Summary: T’Challa is in love with Reader, but is married to Nakia. Both of the women he loves try to convince him to take a break.
Warnings: fighting, mentions of miscarriage, toxemia, hurt, angst, and mentions of death.
A/N: y’all, were getting to the hard part. Just a few chapters left. I hope you guys don’t hate me for some of the stuff that’s about to go down.
Tumblr media
The clock chimed 3 o’clock and your heart shattered. Okoye, Ramonda, and Shuri looked on in pity as you wiped a stray tear from your eyes. “I’ll kill him with my bare hands!” Shuri declared as she gripped your hands.
“inkosazana! [princess]” Okoye chastised. “What. I do not care who he is. Look at her,” the teen exclaimed as she pointed at your state of distress. “He is your blood,” she pushed. “He is still acting like an esile! [ass]” she huffed. “Shuri!” Queen Mother warned.
“How are YOU my dear?” The motherly woman turned to you. “Wondering which vacation home is best for me.” You answered truthfully as various properties flashed through your mind. “Any of them are at your disposal. I will also see that Okoye will be given leave to travel with you, for as long as you need.” She assured. Okoye nodded her agreement and thanks from her spot in the room.
“Shall we begin?” Dr. Mayre startled the party as she peeped into the room. “Yes, we are done waiting.” You spoke for everyone in the room. “Very well then. I just got your lab results back and I want to run some additional tests to get some other boxes checked off.” She began as she scrubbed her hand over the small sink.
“Is everything all right?” Ramonda asked as the doctor floated over in her seat. “Well yes as far as we can tell. But her urine samples showed high levels of protein and your blood pressure rose a little Ms.—.” The doctor explained. “These are some common signs of pre- eclampsia.”
“Toxemia?” Your breath hitched in your throat. “Yes, I am afraid. I just want to ask you some questions to better gauge your situation. Have you had any headaches or rapid weight gain?”
“Not any severe migraines, but have been gaining weight. How “rapid is rapid’?” You asked. “10 pounds over the course of a few days.” She clarified. “Yes, I just assumed that was normal.” You confessed.
“Gaining weight within itself is, but spread out over the course of two weeks or so.” Dr. Mayre clarified. “A decrease in how often you urinate? Any swelling besides your ankles and feet?”
“My hands were swelling last night but some ice seemed to remedy the situation,” you explained. “As far as the urination, yes. It has decreased. But I was just grateful, I assumed my son had finally decided to choose somewhere other than my bladder to sit.” You joked.
“That could very well be the case, but we don’t want to take any chances.” Dr. Mayre explained as she began to type test orders into her kimoyo beads. “What exactly is this toxemia?” Okoye inquired.
“It is a condition that precedes eclampsia. It prevents the placenta from receiving blood and can lead to birth complications, premature birth, and lifelong disabilities if not monitored. It can also be very deadly for the mother. I want you to stay off of your feet as much as possible. And no stress or work. At least until I can confirm that you either have or do not have toxemia,” Dr. mayre explained as she prepared her blood pressure cuff.
A heavy silence seeped into the room. Dr.mayre began gently inflating the cuff. “If I have toxemia, what are my options?” You asked as Dr. Mayre handed you a urine sample. “Fill this up for me and we can talk when you get back.” The woman smiled gesturing towards the bathroom.
You nodded, Shuri held the back of your gown shut as you padded over to the restroom. Once the door shut, Dr. Mayre addressed the rest of the room. “I did not want to scare her, but this is very critical. If the test confirm what I believe she has a very high risk of pregnancy complications due to preeclampsia.”
“How severe are we talking?” Ramonda questions. Dr.Mayre checked to ensure that you were in the bathroom once more before replying. “She could easily miscarry severe. If anything at all is stressing her, then we need to do our best to remove it from her life. As soon as possible. I’m also concerned about the lack of the father appearing at appointments. Especially this one, I would liked to have spoken to him as well.” Dr. Mayre frowned.
“Trust me doctor, we are all concerned about the father’s absence. If you could give me your after hour contact info, I could have the king call you at a later ti,” everyone jumped as a crash screeched through the room. Shuri was the first one up and running to the bathroom. She pulled open the door to find you slumped against the ground. The urine sample spilled on the lap your gown.
“Get her to the infirmary now!” Ayo barked to the doras stationed outside the door. “Tell them she is on immediate bed rest and I’ll send over her dietary restrictions shortly. Make sure they give her plenty of fluids and cleanse her system.” Dr.Mayre scrambled over to help the Dora pull you off of the floor. She repeated the instructions to Ramonda and Shuri once more before the party left the room.
Hours ticked by slowly as the border tribe and kings guard amped up their search for King T’Challa. The sun sank lower with each passing second, even as your condition stabled. “Where is he?” Shuri fumed as she sent her drones out to search every inch of the landscape. “Princess calm down.” Okoye soothed as she searched the map again. “His beads are still off?” The woman questioned.
“Yes, so are Nakia’s.” Shuri frowned. “Do you believe they are,”Okoye began before a loud laugh boomed through the room. T’Challa and Nakia emerged from the top of the spiral staircase. “This better be good,” Shuri murmured as the couple approached the two women.
Knowing she had been pushed to her emotional limit, Okoye decided to excuse herself early. “Kumkani, Nakia,” she pounded her staff twice before storming out of the room. “What is going-“
T’Challa began, but Shuri held her hand up to his face. “Nakia, please head to infirmary room 221,” Shuri directed. “Is that-“
“Yes, it is. She is waiting for you.” Nakia nodded before jogging out of the room. “What in Bast’s name is going on Shuri,” T’Challa huffed as Shuri sent all of the other scientists away. When the last lab assistant shut the door she turned to her brother. “Where the hell have you been?” She roared, fire rippling through her eyes.
“What do you mean, I always turn off my beads when I want to be alone.” The king justified. “Yes, but usually I can reach you. I couldn’t do that today T’Challa. No one could reach you. And you were not alone, you were with Nakia.” She spat.
“So your problem is with me spending time with my wife?” He spat back. “You know damn well what my problem is T’Challa!” Shuri fired.
“If I did. I would not be asking you right now. How did you know we were,”
“Her beads were shut all the way off as well T’Challa.” Shuri yelled. “Look Shuri we didn’t know anyone would need us this morning.” He tried to explain. “Do you know what today is?” Shuri fires back. Her hand slamming down on her workstation. “Monday?”the king questioned.
“You missed y/n’s appointment T’Challa! You promised her you’d be there and then you weren’t. You know she had them delay the appointment for an HOUR again! Because you promised her you’d be there. She is in love with you and you are treating her like crap!” Shuri yelled at her older brother, her emotions broke through at the end and she was in tears by the last line.
“Shuri...I,” The king began. “I am not the one you need to apologize to. She has toxemia T’Challa. She’s on bed rest, and a strict diet. Any stress or unnecessary movement could cause her to miscarry. Can you even begin to understand how terrifying that can be. She cried when you didn’t show up, and now she’s on bed rest until the baby is delivered. She could die T’Challa! And you weren’t there for her. You were out with your ex!”
T’Challa’s face crumbled as the gravity of the situation settled on him. “She could die?” He croaked. “Where is she?”
“She’s in room 221 obstetric ICU,” Shuri sighed. T’Challa nodded before jogging out of the room down the hall.
•Y/N•
“Entle?” Your spine stiffened as a velvet voice washed into the room. You pulled your body closer into yourself. Fortifying the tears behind your eyes, you waited silently. His sandals softly slapping the ground as he moved closer to you.
T’Challa’s body heat ghosted over your skin as he moved to stand behind you. You continued to stare out of the large window, slightly jumping as his hands touched gently on your shoulders.
“I don’t know what to say-“ The young king began. “Then don’t say anything T’Challa,” you suggested continuing to stare out of the window. “But I want to make it up to you entle. There is no apology I can give that will make any of this better because I messed up. I effed everything up and I don’t know how to fix it.” T’Challa pleased, tears beginning to slip from his his eyes. You allowed him to skip his fingers into yours.
“I’m assuming Shuri filled you in on everything?” Your voice sliced the silence. He nodded, wiping the tears from under his eyes. “I have to have a scheduled c section. I was waiting for you, but we had to make a decision.” You explained, squeezing his hand lightly.
“Ok. Ok,” he breathed through his tears. “ Wha-what day did you chose?” He croaked squeezing your hand for comfort. “I chose your father’s birthday,” you refused to look into his eyes. You heard his voice crack before you felt tears.
“Entle,” he croaked. “Don’t T’Challa.” You put your hand up. “You need to decide who you want T’Challa. I will not keep playing backseat to your life decisions.” You paused, slipping the ring off of your finger. “The doctor says I need to alleviate stress. Unfortunately, you are apart of that stress right now.” A beat. “I’m moving to Gracemeadow, at least for now.”
“Y/N, you don’t have to do that. You can stay here. With me. We can try to fix our problems, we can work on building our family, together.” The king placed his hand on your stomach. “They weren’t OUR problems when you were out and about with Nakia instead of here!” You hissed. “Is that where you were today?”
“Y/N,” he began. “No tell me the truth T’Challa, is that we’re you were today?” A beat. His face crumbled. “Ye-Yes.” His Head hung as your heart shattered for the second time that day.
“Get out!” You screamed. “Entle, please!” Tears poured out his eyes. Your resolve chipped as you saw the tears streak across his face. “Kumkani, we have to ask you to leave, there are high amounts of stress being traced on the heart monitor.” A nurse burst through the door, trying to persuade the king to leave.
“Get out!”you yelled. You flung the ring at him. He caught it in his hand. “Y/N,Please. I’m sorry!” He cried. “Come on T’Challa,” Queen Ramonda grabbed her son’s arm. As soon as he walked out of the room, you broke down and cried as Okoye pulled you into her arms.”

“That’s a new ring,” Shuri quipped from the otherside of the examination room. You sat, absentmindedly rubbing your stomach as you waited for the king to arrive. He was currently ten minutes late, but so was Dr. Mayre. Your hand stopped abruptly as she pointed out the addition. You glanced at the ring as Shuri called again.
“Are you alright?” Shuri asked as you snapped out of your daydream. “Yeah, I’m good.” Sighing, you glanced at your watch once more. “You never answered my question,” the teen repeated as she moved to sit on the examination table with you. “T’Challa gave it to me a few months ago.” you explained pulling the ring off of your finger. You handed the small silver band to the scientist and smiled as she studied it.
“Me ware wo, for marriage?”she questioned as she fingered the small circles. “Yeah, it is supposed to be a promise. That he wants to marry me.” you clarified. “Why are you just now wearing it?” she exclaimed, holding it up to the light once more.
“I was not sure if I was ready to wear that declaration, when he gave it to me. To be honest, I’m not sure if I am ready to be wearing it now-” you began as Queen mother rushed through the door. “I am so sorry I am late. I lost track of time with the gardeners and-” she froze as she looked around the room. She silently counted the occupants of the room.
“Where is Okoye? T’challa? Dr.Mayre?” she raised an eyebrow. “ Dr.Mayre is delivering the first baby of the day. Okoye was called away to solve a border dispute. And the king, has not yet made his debut.”Shuri rolled her eyes as you resumed rubbing your stomach. “He is over fifteen minutes late. He knows it was at 8 right?” Ramonda asked as she settled into one of the plush chairs in the royal birthing room.
“I told him last night, but it may not exactly have been clear.” you murmured. “What do you mean, it ‘may not’ have been clear?” Shuri gaped. “Well, we were in the middle of an argument-“
“You two just stopped fighting! Isn’t there a rule about going to bed angry?” Shuri depanned. “For married couples,” you scoffed, “Maybe we just work better apart,”you frowned. “Now we both know that, that, is not true.” Queen Ramonda chastised. “But Queen Mother. It seems like every few weeks we start fighting again.”
“You both need to work on communicating with each other. Calmly tell me what happened last night,” it was a command more than an offer. “We had dinner with Nakia and her boyfriend. D’Ajuh-”
“You met the boyfriend?”Shuri pouted. “I never get to meet anybody.”
“And you will get over it,” Queen mother dismissed the young scientist. Gesturing at you she smiled. “ T’Challa became overly possessive and jealous. Started being annoying and showing off,”
“Isn’t he always.” Shuri joked. You smiled before continuing, “he made this stupid remark that bothered me more than it probably should have,”
“What did he say,” Ramonda interjected softly. “That is the point of communicating, lay everything out on the table.” She explained, gesturing for you to continue.
“I told him I didn’t want to be carried around while D’Ajuh was here. I said he could carry me around once D’Ajuh left. He was upset and started saying how he thought I would have been grateful, since I’m quote on quote, always complaining about being in pain and having swollen ankles.” You rolled your eyes.
“Is that all?” Ramonda asked searching our face. Knowing she saw right through your facade, your shoulders dropped as you remembered the hurtful comment from the night before. “He said that Nakia would’ve let him do it.” You murmured.
“Come again?” Shuri shook her head as she leaned forward. “I’m just lost, it’s like nothing I do seems to be enough. And the minute it is, there is something else that I’m not “Nakia” enough at.”
“Now what you will not do is downplay yourself because my son is too bone headed to realize how he is treating you. You are not Nakia, and you never will be. He loves you because you are who you are. If he keeps trying to change you, or comparing you to Nakia, then remind him why he wants you in his life. What life is like without you.” She pointed.
“You mean she should leave him?” Shuri gasped. “If she feels that is what is best for her and her child Shuri. I am not in particularly in favor of this plan though. As the Americans say, I am simply playing ‘devil's advocate’,” Ramonda explained to the princess. “No one is going anywhere, at least for right now,” you interrupted. “At the most I may move to one of the vacation homes” you glanced back at the clock.
“Then I guess I’m just in time,” Okoye announced, gliding into the room. “It seems you will be needing a companion?” The woman frowned settling next to Ramonda, dressed in her training wear instead of uniform. “You think she should leave too?” Shuri pouted.
“I think it is a good way for kumkani to see how easily she could be gone,” The warrior clarified. “General, it is nice to see you taking a day for yourself,” The queen mother replied squeezing the warrior’s hand. “There’s no place I’d rather be,” her eyes glanced around the room.” Iphi na ke ukumkani? [ Where is the king?]” she raised an eyebrow, searching for an explanation of the man’s absence. “The appointment is not over is it?”
“It has not begun. Dr. Mayre has to deliver a baby girl-“ you started. “A beautiful baby girl. 7 pounds 3 ounces. Born Oyne Adwesa Didulo.” The lean African woman swept into the room. “I am so sorry for my tardiness. Babies have a measure of time all their own I’m afraid.” She smiled prepping the sonogram machine.
As she stood back she washed her hands then surveyed the room. “Now let’s see. Mom,Aunt,Grandmother, and god mother. Where is Dad?” She addressed those assembled.
“That’s the question of the hour,” Shuri muttered. “Would you like to start without him? Or I can give you all some more time?” The doctor offered.
“Just a few more minutes.” You asked. “Y/N, it has been almost 45 minutes.” Okoye reminded. “I know, but he promised,” you pleaded while staring at the ring on your finger. The doctor nodded her assent before walking out of the room.
Five minutes turned to ten. Ten to twenty. And twenty to forty. Soon it had been another hour. “Would you like to reschedule?” Dr. Mayre asked as tears built up behind your eyes. “No let’s do this,’You half smiled leaning back on the exam table. The African doctor glanced wearily back at Queen Ramonda.
“Are you sure darling?” The mother figure confirmed. “Yes,” you nodded as you wiped tears from your eyes. “I’ve rearranged my schedule five times for T’Challa, I won’t revolve my life around his any longer. We have more appointments to go. He can make one of those.”
“Well in that case, let’s see what’s going on.” Dr.Mayre began, raising the sonogram wand.
“Queen mother?” The older woman glanced up from her flower bed. Smiling as she noticed you standing there. She waved you closer as she sat back on her feet. “What is wrong intombazana yakho?”
“Am I stupid?” You asked moving closer. “Why do you think you are stupid?” She tilted her head, wiping her hands on her apron. “I don’t know. I just have this feeling. T’Challa got overly jealous when D’Ajuh was here. And he kept giving Nakia these looks. Then he doesn’t show up for the appointment this morning. He keeps saying nothing is going on, and that he loves me?”
“How do you feel?” She questioned, brushing loose dirt from her hands. “I feel like I keep playing backseat to his wants and needs. Like this baby. You know this was his plan and now that it’s here, he acts like he wants Nakia,” You rambled.
“My dear,” The queen grabbed your hand and walked you to a nearby bench. “Do you see my flowers over there?” She gestured to a flower bed in the distance. You nodded. “What do you notice about that flower bed,” she turned to point at another section. “That you don’t see at this one?”
You took a moment to observe both sections. “The first flower bed doesn’t have any bees, your newer one does.”
“Exactly, now the flower bed in the distance, has been there for years, every year when the bees are out they pollinate this flower bed without question. But the moment I added this new flower bed, all of my bees left the old flower bed. The one that has kept the hive alive for years.” She explained.
“Queen mother, with all due respect, what does this have to do with me?” You asked. “Men are like the bees. Every once in a while they leave their flowers in pursuit of the newest flowers.”
“This is not making me feel any better,” you groaned glancing at the flower bed in front of you. “Let me finish,” she laughed. “There’s another difference you missed. Those flowers in the bed in front of us, they only live for two months. Soon, those bees will have to go back to their old flowers. But, those flowers over there will die this year. So the bees, who are so busy chasing after my new flowers, will have nothing left to go to.” She explained, smiling in accomplishment, as you are staring in confusion.
“I still do not understand queen mother,” You shook your head. “wam umntwana [my daughter]-“ she smiled squeezing your hands. She stood and brushed the dirt off of her apron, grabbing her tools as she went. “Don’t die waiting for him to choose you.” She smiled once more, before beginning her trek back to the greenhouse.
“Don’t die?” You mumbled pushing yourself off of the garden bench. You shook the thought loose from your mind. Venturing further into the garden you heard voices and walked around to a gazebo.
“T’Challa?” You called as you noticed his silhouette in the structure. A second person jumped up from his embrace as he turned to you. “Y/N?” He started walking towards you. “Nakia?”
“It is not what it looks like,” she began. “Where were you this morning.” Your voice sliced through the air. “Y/N-“
“No T’Challa, where were you?”
“Y/N- I…” he stuttered. “It’s a boy,” you cut him off. You bit your lips to stop the quivering. “He’s healthy. Shuri thinks he’s already gotten your big head,” You laughed bitterly as tears escaped your eyes.
“Bast I hope she’s wrong.” You sniffed. “He might be a premie, the herb is causing advanced maturity. But other than that he’s fine. But you’d know this if you showed up to the appointment.”
“Your appointment was this morning?” Nakia breathed. You glanced at her through your tears. “Yeah, I knew you had a date with D’Ajuh this morning,” you offered, letting her know she was in the clear. Unfortunately T’Challa was not. “The Monday after next at 2. That’s the next appointment.” You turned your back on the king and begin walking back towards the palace.
“Sithandwa [love] wait,” the African king called as he jogged after you. “What T’Challa,” You hissed, not turning to acknowledge him. “I’m sorry.” He offered.
“Sorry means nothing without action.”
“I’ll be there. I’ll be early. I’ll meet with Dr.Mayre on my own time and get caught up.” He pleaded. You fished his sonogram out of your pocket and pressed it into his palm. He stared at the slightly wrinkled paper as you disappeared inside. Elegantly scrawled in your hand writing were two words.
Your son.

Take A Break Pt.14
Setting: AU where T’Challa loves Reader, But is married to Nakia. Both of the women he loves, try to convince him to take a break.
Warnings: Anger, yelling, angst, jealousy.
A/N: there’s a lot of foreshadowing in this chapter. Let me know what y’all think at the end. Hope it was worth the wait!
*I’m putting all other stories on hold to get a few more chapters of Take a Break out. Thanks for reading!
Tumblr media
“So, D’Ajuh, what do you do for a living?” you asked over the table. The sunset illuminated the garden around you as the family dined outside. A tall, well built man sat next to Nakia across the table from you and T’Challa. The sun sparkled in his brown eyes as he cleared his throat. “I’m a teacher, at Isidleke school in the city. I teach the 11th and 12th graders mostly. Try to prepare them to study in college or university if they choose.” Nakia grinned up at the man, blushing as he squeezed her hand in his own. Their brown fingers interlaced on the table, contrasting the cream table cloth beautifully in the summer sunset.
“Do many choose to study abroad, when given the option?” you inquired. “Yes, many see America over the television nowadays, they practically leap at the chance.” their interlaced hands waved around together as D’Ajuh expressed his passion for the children and their success. “Though not usually for the right reasons,” the mild mannered teacher laughed. “Though, I am proud to say, many come back with an appreciation for their brothers and sisters in America. Also, a lot more grateful for what they have here.” The african man smiled as he took a sip of his water.
“That I can understand, it definitely gives you a different outlook on life, spending time there.” you smiled. “Y/N, spent some time working in America on behalf of our country. Many of her stories from abroad were very enlightening as to what people deal with on a daily basis.
“Exactly, this is the experience I feel that many of our students should experience to better appreciate what we have here at home. If I may speak quite frankly,” the man stopped to glance at T’Challa for approval. “Please, a friend of Nakia’s is a friend of mine.” he gestured for the man to continue.
“Well, many of my students, have expressed interests in wanting to open an exchange student program here in Wakanda, where students may come and study with our students here for an American semester. Especially those in the sciences, arts, and humanities. I believe it is a grand idea and beneficial experience for both groups of students.” the young teacher explained. “Many students in America will never know, or experience a culture of people who look like them and have technology like this very often. Also having an total immersion experience here in Wakanda, which will help with maturity and problem solving skills, besides creating more well rounded brothers and sisters.”
“I believe it sounds like a wonderful program to at least consider,” Nakia added glancing at T’Challa. “I agree, i’d love to meet with you about that D’Ajuh,’ the king nodded. The dinner descended back into comfortable silence. The couple continued to sneak glances and share laughs. “Would someone like to share what is so funny, eh?” you chastised jokingly. The couple chuckled like two children caught passing notes in class. Nakia blushed darker as D’Ajuh cleared his throat, “Well, I was telling Nakia, that she looks radiant in this light right now. And her skin has a glow that would only rival that of the Wakandan sunset.” the teacher ducked his head.
“Are you having sex with my wife?” T’Challa interrupted.“T’Challa!” you hissed swatting his arm as Nakia tried to refrain from choking on her water. D’Ajuh tried to aid her attempts as he gathered his own thoughts. “Um,” he stuttered.
“You don’t have to answer that,” you apologized as you shot a glare in T’Challa. “I am your-”
“T’challa,” you warned your voice gaining a slight edge. The king sank back into his seat still staring intently at the young couple’s hands. His hand sought out yours and squeezed posessively. The night held a certain awkwardness as dinner progressed. It seemed that every move D’Ajuh made, T’Challa had to out do. If D’Ajuh offered a roll, T’Challa offered a cake. If D’Ajuh complimented Nakia, T’Challa was showering you in praises.
As dinner finally came to a close, the other man helped Nakia out of her seat, while T’Challa tried to convince you to let him carry you around bridal style for the rest of the evening. And tonight, for some reason, “no”was not registering in the King’s vocabulary or conscious.
“T’Challa, stop it!” you hissed, swatting his arms away. “D’Ajuh gets to help Nakia out of her seat, I just want to help my pregnant girlfriend around the palace.” he fussed and whined. “Exactly, I am pregnant, not incapacitated or invalid. I can walk T’Challa, after Nakia and D’Ajuh leave then I will let you carry me to my room, ok?”
“Nakia would not mind me carrying her,” T’Challa muttered as the couple walked towards them. “What is that supposed to mean?” you rebutted as anger began to pour into your veins. “Is know a bad time?” Nakia asked, noticing the visible tension between the couple. Her hands were again intertwined with her lover’s. “No, now is a great time. What do you need.” you forced a smile. “We are about to head out. I just wanted to thank you guys for hosting us.”
“T’Challa’s eyes remained glued on the couples’ intertwined fingers as he shook D’Ajuh’s hand and hugged Nakia goodnight. Nakia escorted her boyfriend back to his car and T’Challa walked with you around the newly quieted palace.
“You remember what tomorrow is, right?” you asked as you walked down the silent corridor with your love. The moon reflected off of his beautiful skin as you gazed at his features contorted in thought. “Tuesday?” he asked. “Tell me you’re joking?” you froze, consequently jerking him to a stop. “Entle, what is tomorrow?” he furrowed his brow reaching for you.
“Don’t touch me T’Challa, we’ve been looking forward to this day for three months.” you frowned, “I can’t believe you forgot,” you felt tears and anger building up. “It’s the day we learn the gender of our child T’Challa. We had to clear your schedule months in advance for this T’challa.”
His eyes widened with guilt, “Entle, I’m so, sorry. I can’t believe I forgot. I’ll be there, at 9:30 right?”
“8:00 T’Challa, 8 in the morning,” you corrected, sighing, his mouth gaped open. “I- I can’t do eight,” he began. You held your palm up to stop him. You breathed out through your nose, “Tell me you are joking T’Challa. Tell me that you are joking and this is just a bad dream.”
“Entle, I am so sorry-” he began. “No, T’Challa, sorry will not fix this. With you and the jealousy, your pride flaring up at the table tonight, I have had it. I have rescheduled this appointment five times to fit your schedule. You need to have an amazing explanation for why you suddenly can’t do this tomorrow, when we planned this six weeks ahead” you fumed tapping your foot.”I’m waiting kumkani.”
“What jealousy?” the king gaped. “Are you serious, are you serious T’Challa? Everytime the man did anything, you had to outdo him. Every kiss to Nakia’s cheek was a kiss to my forehead. He cut her a piece of meat and you cut my whole meal into bite sized pieces, for our unborn child Challa. I’m a grown behind woman, I can cut my own filet mignon. Don’t get me started on your Nakia comment, ‘Nakia would let me carry her’.” you mocked his voice.
“What! She would have! I thought being a pregnant woman you would have loved for me to prance around the palace, carrying you for the rest of the night! You go around here complaining about walking and your ankles so much anyway.” he argued back. “Yes, I do. Because I am in pain, carrying YOUR child, that YOU planned to put in my body on YOUR own. I wasn’t planning to have this child T’Challa, neither was I planning to put myself through this pain. And I would have loved for you to carry me around, IF it was really about making ME comfortable. You just want to show off infront of D’Ajuh, because you can’t get over Nakia. You can’t get over the fact that she is happy, with someone else now. As long as she was alone and just watching your children, everything was fine, but now that she is happy, you can’t seem to get over the fact that someone treats her just as well, or better than you do. So. You know what, maybe you should go carry Nakia around the palace tonight, because you won’t be laying a hand on me, selfish bastard.” you stormed down the hallway into your old bedroom.
“Y/N wait! The king called as he jogged after you, his anger doused by your words. “What T’Challa?” you sighed stopping at the end of the long hallway. The silence settled upon you tow like a blanket, as the stars observed from the sky. “I am sorry,” he pleaded, again reaching for your hand. You cocoa skin glew in the moonlights as you moved it out of his reach. “Sorry is not enough-” you began, your tired body sagging under all of the hurt and anger. “Not this time T’Challa, I need action. Some form of proof that you truly want me. You need to decide who you want, before you lose both of us.” You heard his breath hitch at the ultimatum.
“Entle,” he croaked. “Not tonight T’Challa. Good night,” you managed to whisper out before continuing down the hall. His tears and hurt echoed down the halls, while yours remained silently upon your cheeks as you vanished from his sight.
“The moon filtered through the gauzy curtains in your bedroom. You finally found the strength to wipe the tears from under your eyes. You bypassed your bed, in search of the small black box that had been given to you by T’Challa. You found the small wooden cube buried under a pile of socks. You quickly pulled the cube from your drawer. Wiping tears from your eyes, you returned all of the socks to their places and carried the box onto your balcony. Settling down onto your swing, you pulled the top off of the delicate box and studied the small ring inside.
Tumblr media
“Do you recognize it?” he asked as he pulled the slender object from the soft fabric lining. At a loss for words you nodded as he held it up to the light. “The marriage sign.” you breathe, as he continues to turn the ring over and over. The candlelight flickered over the metal as he continued to explain. “Me ware wo. A symbol of commitment and perseverance. The unspoken promise that “I shall marry you’.” he grinned up at you. Though the upturn of his lips quickly fell, your face, still contorted in awe, now held a glimpse of fear.
“You do not have to wear it now sthandwa sam. But this is my promise to you, this ring clearly displays all of my intentions. I plan to marry you, sooner or later. Whenever you are ready. This is my promise to you of my commitment and my perseverance in courting you and raising our child. Together.”
You nodded as he placed the ring back in the box. Your hand reached out to cover his as he closed the wooden box. You cleared your throat, “ ‘Challa, it’s not that I don’t want to marry you-” you began in a shaky voice.
“You have nothing to explain. I am the one who betrayed your trust, and I must re earn it. Do not apologize sthandwa sam, baby steps.” he covered your hand with his other as he placed the box in your palm. Whenever you are ready.”
The sounds of birds in the distance snapped you out of your daze as you stared at the ring in the moonlight. You blew off a light layer of dust that had settled on the vibranium. Glistening like new in the moonlight, the ring seemed to call out to you. You plucked the metal from the velvet and placed it over your left ring finger. You stared at it before gliding back into your room. Once again burying the box, you quickly took a hot shower before sliding into bed. Laying on your back, your stared at the new addition to your left ring finger.
One last thought fought for control of your conscious as you slipped into a deep sleep. If you wanted T’Challa to treat you like his, maybe it was time, you started showing everyone, you were.

“Nakia, they all look great,” you smiled at the young queen. You laid over the large king size bed in T’Challa’s room. The two no longer slept in the same bed, but Nakia still made use of her walk in closet.
The queen stood in front of her floor length mirror pressing a simple white dress to her torso. She ran her hands over the fabric as she pondered the option. “I just don’t know. I’ve never been on a date before,” she sighed tossing the dress on the bed.
You groaned rolling over and sliding off the bed. You grabbed two dresses and waddled over to your friend. “How do you want to feel tonight?” You questioned staring at both dresses. “I want to look sexy, but classy.” She quickly added. She chewed on a fingernail as you searched through all the dresses that lay on the bed.
Finding a simple peach ensemble, you smiled and pressed it into Nakia’s hand. “Stop chewing on your nails,” you smiled pulling her hand from her mouth. “Y/N, I don’t know what I am doing. This is all so new to me.”she panicked slightly.
“Hey, you’re going to be fine, and he’s going to love you. Now go try the dress on.” She nodded and walked behind the silk panel. As you rummaged around for a pair of shoes, a strong set of hands settled on your waist.
“I suppose there is a good reason for why it looks like my closet exploded all over my bed?” A deep chuckle greeted your ears. “Nakia is going on a date,” you smiled, relishing in the feel of his hands on your waist.
“A date? With who-“ T’Challa began as Nakia walked out. “How does it look y/n-“ Nakia fretted as she ran her hands over the peach colored dress. “Are you sure it is not too much?” She jumped as she noticed T’Challa in the room.
“Oh T’Challa-“ her apology died on her lips as he smiled. “You look beautiful Nakia,” T’Challa smiled sadly. “Thank you,” she blushed.
“How do you feel about it?” You questioned as you spotted a perfect pair of shoes. “I like it, but are you sure it’s not too much for the queen-“ She rambled. “Hey, if you like it, that’s all that matters. Who cares what your father thinks.” You interrupted handing her the shoes.
She smiled gratefully walking over to put on the heels. “So when will we meet the lucky man?” T’Challa nonchalantly nosed in. “Not anytime soon,” Nakia replied double checking her purse. “You don’t usually bring a guy to meet your husband on the first few dates. Especially if he is his king.” She pointed. Quickly grabbing her phone.
“But what if your husband is more like your big brother, who you happen to have kids with?” T’Challa responded. You and Nakia both broke into laughter. “What?” The king frowned as you hugged Nakia goodbye.
“Have fun!” you encouraged. “But not too much fun,” the former prince added before you slapped his shoulder. “Eish woman! What did I do?”
“Kumkani wam, you are now asking for an annulment of your marriage instead of a divorce?” The merchant tribe elder clarified. The three months had past, the new sun finding T’Challa and Nakia back in the throne room.
“Precisely, annulments may be granted with due cause if both parties agree,” T’Challa reminded them. “Is the queen in agreement with the request?” Another elder questioned.
“I am. I suggested it,” Nakia spoke. “Very well, what is your claim of cause your majesties?” The elders sat up.
“I have been dating another man for three months now, I would like to make it official. Though that is quite hard to do when you are married eh?” Nakia grinned.
“Quite right my queen,” the mining tribe elder laughed. Nakia’s father fumed. “You condone this? As an elder we are to uphold the highest standards of law-“
“Yes we are, and our law clearly grants the rights to an annulment for any woman or man who seeks it with due cause. Also, my position as the youngest elder on this council calls for me to bring you all into this century. That maybe your daughter on the throne but she is a grown woman. Look at her! The queen has fulfilled her duty as wife and queen to this man. Now that there is nothing holding them together, they are two people in love with different people. I mean, king T’Challa has a baby on the way with his wife’s best friend. And they are both cheating on this marriage. I see more than enough reason to grant them an annulment counselor.” The woman retorted.
“Thank you counselor, your vote will be considered.” The merchant tribe elder interjected before Nakia’s father could retaliate. “ If your majesty’s could give the council a week to deliberate.”
T’Challa nodded, “Of course. Council dismissed.” The elders nodded before ceremoniously exiting the throne room.
“How is D’Ajuh?” T’Challa asked as the last elder shut the door. “He is well. We are coming up on three months together tomorrow night. He is truly wonderful to me,” Nakia gushed. “How are you?”
“I’m good, we find out the sex of the baby in a few weeks.” T’Challa smiled. “A little late aren’t we? What is she now? Six months?”
“Just a month late, Y/N wanted to wait until we could both attend the appointment together.” T’Challa explained. “Well I’m very happy for you both but I have to go pack,” Nakia groaned pushing out of her chair.
“Is their a diplomatic meeting I forgot about?” T’Challa followed. “No, D’Ajuh is taking me away for the weekend. For our anniversary.” Nakia explained as they ventured down the hall. The sun filtered in through the large glass windows, cross crossing the intricate rugs along the floor.
“Oh, just the two of you?” He nosed. “No T’Challa you and y/n are invited as well,” Nakia joked. The sarcasm was lost on the young king as he pondered his schedule. “I’m afraid I’m not free but maybe next time,” he concluded as they stopped in front of Nakia’s door.
“T’Challa I was joking. Don’t you think it would be weird to go on a romantic get away with my husband and my pregnant girlfriend?” Nakia sighed.
“No, we could play gin and rummy or something. It would be fun,” he pouted. “Good-“ Nakia’s eyes widened as she bit back the bike that rose up her throat.
“Are you alright?” T’Challa reached out a hand to steady her. “I’m quite alright thank you. Nakia pulled away quickly before nodding. “Goodbye T’Challa.”
The queen quickly slipped into her room and shut the door. “Is she alright?” Your voice drew the king out of his daze. “I don’t know, I tried to help and she pulled away.” He gaped.
“I can take it from here.” You kissed your boyfriend’s cheek before walking into Nakia’s room. The area was oddly empty. You heard shuffling in the bathroom and decided to investigate. “Nakia?” You knocked gently.
“Come in.” She strained from the other side of the door. “Hey,” you frowned when you saw her slumped beside the toilet. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, just a little upset stomach.” She dismissed. “How long has this been going on?” You questioned, opening the medicine cabinet over her sink. Searching through the organized bottles you grabbed some nausea medicine.
“A few weeks? Nakia, why didn’t you tell anyone?” You scolded, handing her two of the pills. “Because I didn’t want you guys to freak out. I’m a big girl, I can handle a little stomach bug.”
“Sure, But you don’t have to. And what if it’s more than just a little stomach bug? When was the last time you had your period?” You fussed filling a small cup with water. You placed it in her hand, before working your way to the ground
“I can’t remember,” she whispered truthfully. “I’ve been too scared. We’ve only been dating for three months. One night we were drunk, and I forgot I had to take fertility enhancers as queen and-“
“Wait back up, you have to take what?” You screeched. “Oh yeah, you’ll love them. ‘ so you and the king can have many healthy children’” Nakia imitated her father’s deep voice.
Both of the women dissolved into laughter. “I may have to speak to the elders about that one. That man would enjoy that too much,” You shuddered at the thought. “He said he wants seven.” Nakia mentioned, “I’m just glad I’m not the woman that has to give him the rest.”
“He may get a good two more out of me,” you laughed shaking your head. “Aww but that’s so close to seven. Just two more.” Nakia faux begged. “He better hope for twins,” You sassed.
“But in all seriousness, I think you should at least let Shuri do a body scan. Just to make sure you are alright at least.” You squeezed her hand.
“If it will make you be quiet,” she groaned standing up. “I can only promise the next 20 minutes,” you smiled allowing her to help you up.
“Your hormones levels are surging. Specifically Human Chorionic Gonadotropin or HCG. Which is a strong indicator of pregnancy but-“ Shuri began. Dragging Nakia’s vitals and statistics over to the large wall. She crossed her arms biting her lip as she stared at the readings.
“So is she pregnant?” You asked the teen. “Well that’s the thing-“ she enlarged the body scan on Nakia’s abdomen, “There is no placenta visible. But there has to be a placenta somewhere to be producing these hormone levels.” Shuri huffed scrolling around on the scan.
“So, could it be a glitch?” Nakia asked from the table. “Are you insinuating that my technology doesn’t work?”
“No one is suggesting that Shuri, there just has to be something wrong you see it yourself.” You consoled.
“I know. I just don’t know ok. As much as I hate to admit it, I think you need to see a professional OBGYN.”Shuri sighed, slouching against her desk.
