watching amnesia: rebirth gameplay for the second time, and i still don't know how i feel about it?? like,,,,imo it fits the whole '''''lady horror''''' stereotype, u know like those horror films/games/etc that are usually about a female protagonist whose entire character centres around motherhood, pregnancy, or the loss of a child. idk how to explain it but the cinematography and musical scoring are different to other horror films, and they just?? feel weird somehow?? idek. i just. find myself resenting the fact that female characters exist in horror either to get pregnant, give birth, be infertile, or die.
i just. i'm tired of that. no more pls ;A;
#(also......like there's often the lady ghost who wants to take the female protagonist's baby bc she wants a child too??#ma'am u are a ghost u cannot look after a human child??#and if u need a ghost child surely there are many children who are ALREADY ghosts and would probably appreciate a ghost mum??#i don't understand why u want to take someone else's living baby from them??)#idk tasi is pretty sympathetic as a character#and in her own way the empress is too just a bit#i just wouldn't make the same choices as they did bc it seems.....cruel i suppose#not that tasi had any way to know that her second child would suffer the same fate as the first one#so it makes sense that she would be desperate to have and keep amari#i suspect alys's affliction was tay-sachs#a truly tragic disease with no cure#deterioration occurs so quickly and usually takes the child's life by the age of four#alys seems to have trouble swallowing be easily startled degenerated mental faculties and blindness in the various flashbacks#and her end came to her so quickly it's just awful#i info-dumped about it on my mam before but i just keep thinking about it#i feel that good horror should always include an element of tragedy#but when it comes to little children it's just.....hard to deal with#anyway the game itself is quite interesting#i like it better than soma#but it can't compare to amnesia the dark descent for me#idk there was something very visceral about tdd that just works for me in ways that rebirth doesn't#horror genre#cw pregnancy#cw character death (of a child)#amnesia: rebirth#birb says#yes i did pause in my important make up drawings to write this#that's a sign of how flustered i am! lmao

YELLOWJACKETS OCTOBER ◆ Horror Elements OTHER TAI, ft. quotes from Tawny Cypress
“When I took this role, they told me that Tai is the success story, that she’s the person who wasn’t touched. They never even brought up Other Tai. All they said was that there are three levels to Tai: the success; the love for her wife and her son; and then underneath everything is a darkness that she doesn’t even know is there. Other Tai explains that darkness."

In the night, all cats are gray
Tumblr media
The phrase comes from the French, la nuit, tous les chats sont gris, and has also been attributed to Benjamin Franklin, in a letter to a friend in which he says that appearances don't matter when it comes to attractiveness. The phrase has also been used in reference to social standing or personal accomplishments, the meaning being that all people are the same in the dark.
The idea is that darkness reveals our true selves, a theme found in many different cultures.
In the above screenshot, Zuko and Katara are both dressed in black, and under cover of night.
In the world of atla, in which color represents nationality, Zuko and Katara are not acting as arbiters of their nations. Zuko, the former prince of the Fire Nation, who willingly left his nation to join team Avatar, is shown wearing black in a previous episode to hide his appearance. While the others dress themselves in red, disguised as Fire Nation citizens, Zuko appears to have no country of origin, symbolizing his renouncement of loyalty to the Fire Nation regime, as well as his renouncement of his social status as prince (which also echoes the story of Siddhartha Buddha).
So for Zuko, wearing black already has a particular meaning and association with his redemption.
For Katara, black is the color of night, which is heavily associated with her element. Katara is most connected to water through her bending, and linked to the moon. She is like her bending, a representation of the changeability of water, the darkness of night, and burns with the passion of the full moon. Like the night and the deepest depths of the ocean that is her element, Katara also can be dangerous, and like the moon, she has a hidden shadow side that is revealed especially in this episode.
So here Zuko and Katara are, bathed in the shadow of night which transforms them as equals, two children avenging their mothers.
Water, night, and the moon are also associated with the feminine (waterbending also being based on the more feminine martial art of tai chi), so this being a quest linked to motherhood is important. This episode also heavily deals with the dark feminine, a concept used to define primal instincts and emotions. Katara avenging her mother while bathed in her element is an aspect of the dark feminine, and so is Zuko letting Katara take the reins just as his mother committed murder and treason under cover of night to save him when he was a child.
Circling back to the original phrase being about the elimination of the barriers between social class or physical appearance (something also significant for Zuko, who is physically marked by his scarred face), it's not surprising that this episode is also considered one of the big zutara episodes. The original phrase is about romance (actually, it's about sex, but we'll keep it pg here), which is also something governed by the dark feminine and its symbols, which all appear in this episode.

Some doodles of Jay and Morro’s parents I am so normal about these two  Liberty Justice (the blonde woman) used to be the elemental master of electricity but quit being a ninja to be an actor. She’s currently a popular actor and one of the main actresses in the Starfarer show. She’s very secretive of her private life and appears to have no family members. She appeared out of nowhere one day and rose in popularity. All the public knows is that she is currently single and divorced. Tai Lu (the black haired man) used to be the elemental master of wind but was rumored to have died due to a dragon attack. Wu seems to have a clear dislike of him. There are contradicting stories about him and people have a different view on him, some say he was a hero, some say he was a traitor working for garmadon. Also unrelated note but Morro is biologically blond and there might be a chance that Jay is too but they dye their hair.

A Precariously Stacked Pile of Random Season 2 Thoughts
These are notes I took as I watched the season. Usually after I’d already posted about the episode in question, and I thought of something I would have added to the post. Rather than edit them into my posts, I’m rounding them up and posting them all at once. As such, they are vaguely chronological. Unfortunately, because I made the notes legible to me and me only, I didn't bother to write down what episode I was referring to. I've also added some notes in as I was editing these notes. So this is also a bit of a scavenger hunt. Enjoy!
Iroh poisoning himself: dumbass moment or 5D chess?
My autocorrect corrects “Sokka” to Sock, and “Sokka’s” to socks. This causes double takes when editing.
Badgermoles have excellent eyeliner. Is that where the Kyoshi Warriors get their jaw dropping cat eye?
Why is Ty Lee spelled Ty Lee and not Tai Li? Why is Dai Li spelled Dai Li and not Dy Lee?
Sometimes Sokka makes me think of Mulan. Am I crazy?
Are the swampbenders’ moves based on a real martial art style too?
Why didn’t Aang use his swamp sense to locate Appa post-appanapping?
Where did Toph, who spent her whole life as a prisoner of her parents’ house and a moonlighting WWE wrestler until Team Avatar busted her out, get such emotional intelligence?
Why did Zuko’s dad put forward the plan to disinherit Iron in favour of him less than 24 hours after Lu Ten’s death? Why did he think that moving quickly was the right approach? Does the Fire Nation not do grieving periods? In what world was 'strike while the iron is hot' the correct course of action here?
Looking back, I’m amazed that season 2 didn’t end in Zuko’s redemption. I didn’t much like Zuko Alone, but I was sure that a season that included that much set up for a Zuko redemption arc would prioritise finishing that arc.
I haven’t even met this Firelord guy yet, but I am peeved that that twerp has a name as cool as Ozai.
Why haven't I met that Firelord guy yet?
I really thought that the older brother character in Zuko Alone would make an appearance later on in the season, giving Zuko a chance to flex some newly acquired morals. But the parallel to Lu Ten and the general message about the evils of war lands better if we never hear of him again.
Zuko in the first half of season 2 had me so annoyed that I was incredibly uncharitable to him in my write ups. Reading through some of the stuff I wrote while watching episodes, I kind of wince now. Zuko in the second half of the season was much less annoying. Which I feel bad for saying, because he’s clearly not in a good place in the second half of the season.
I would love to know why the writers decided to have Toph and Iroh meet in the wilderness. I think it’s a good choice, but I want to know how they came up with it, and why those characters? Is there anything about Toph (especially at that point, when we’ve known her for 1 episode) that suggests that she and Iroh should meet? Or would get along if they did?
Zuko has so many rock bottom fake outs this season: Zuko Alone? Nope, he gets worse in The Chase. The Chase? Nope, he gets worse in Bitter Work. Bitter Work? Nope, he gets worse in the finale.
I’m still peeved that Azula won a 6 on 1 showdown. Sorry, but that breaks immersion.
I bet the Blue Spirit could make lightning.
If water is the element of change, why does the Northern Water Tribe have such strictly defined traditions? I get that it's literally the element of change, in that water can exist in different physical states, but shouldn't the metaphorical interpretation also be true?
I like that Toph can think like an Airbender sooner than Aang can think like an earthbender.
What is Sokka’s boomerang made of? Is it metal? Because if it’s metal, does that mean that there’s a blacksmith somewhere in the South Pole? With a forge?
I still can’t get over how dumb the whole eclipse plot was.
Tumblr media
Suki is TINY!!!
Tumblr media
I mocked this guy’s 80s aerobics video leotard aesthetic, and I stand by that mockery, because this guy is ugly. Those colours are awful. But do you know who else has those colours?
Tumblr media
Jet this season fascinates me. He’s positioned as genuinely repentant and legitimately seeking a second chance and I don’t believe him for one minute. Why don’t I believe him? This show has a theme of learning from mistakes and doing better, so shouldn’t Jet be a perfect fit for this show’s themes? I should be primed to believe him. And yet I don’t.
I have to applaud Iron’s enthusiasm for their new life in Ba Sing Se. A lot of that cheer (at least before the tea shop) is put on for Zuko’s sake. I don’t know where Iroh gets the energy to keep trying with Zuko after years of minimal results, but I’m glad he does.
I think Aang and Ty Lee should hang out. They have similar circus energy. Or maybe it’s that they’re the only two characters in the show so far who are remotely playful.
Aang = surface silliness, core of calm. Not that the silliness doesn't run deep, but he seems to have an untouchable anchor of calm deep within that rarely gets disturbed. Gyatso raised him well.
~~*~~*~~*~~*~~Poetry bouncer ~~*~~*~~*~~*~~
I need next season to have more Appa & Mono subplots à la their escapades in The Swamp. Not à la Momo’s Tale.
Tales of Ba Sing Se definitive ranking: Momo Aang Sokka Zuko Iroh Katara & Toph
I love that Momo still sleeps in the Momo bag from The Blind Bandit
Are Suki and her warriors sitting in the middle of some Earth Kingdom forest in their underwear?
So are Smellerbee and Longshot just done? Will they be back in season 3? What happens to their life now? They are known associates of an enemy of the state who was just executed. It doesn't look good.
Everyone on this show has big ears. Zuko has the smallest ears simply because he has the least amount of ears remaining. But everyone else? Big ears.
Can I have more Gyatso? I forgot how cool he was. More Guru too please.
Hakodilf.
Everyone in the SWT has such wonderfully fluffy hair.
I like Sokka’s boots. Southern Water Tribe boots in general.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If this is the grand total of the SWT, I have some bad news about population dynamics.
Is there a proper naval term for what the SWT are doing? They’re a stealth strike force that seems to be going after individual enemy ships, using both direct and indirect tactics. Not pirates, because as far as we know they aren't going for FN supplies. They're doing what submarines do, but above water. There’s got to be a proper name for that.
Is there a raft of FN corpses chilling in the waters in front of the NWT's big wall?
I saw ATLA described as a show where all the characters are Asian-inspired people of colour, but isn’t Suki a blue-eyed redhead?
I had no idea that you could decline an Agni Kai. Zuko should have done that.
Why are the Dai Li so in love with Azula? I get that they're pissed with Long Feng for getting arrested, but wouldn't the logical choice be to direct their loyalties to the Earth King rather than a wildcard princess? I'm not going to pretend for a minute that the Dai Li are loyal to the Earth Kingdom or to Ba Sing Se, but the Earth King is a known quantity. Seems to me that it would be easier for them to re-puppetify him, rather than a FN princess.
Katara & Zuko bonding over their missing mothers is the same “makes sense until you think about it for five seconds” as Song & Zuko bonding over losing their fathers to war. Technically the same, sort of, on paper, but actually kind of rude to equate them once you know the full story. Same with the parallel between Lu Ten and the older brother in Zuko Alone. The proper dead mom parallel is Katara and Jet. Although Katara doesn’t object to the Zuko comparison, so I have no grounds to do so.
I’m really glad that Katara didn’t remove Zuko’s scar with her spirit oasis water. Both because she kind of really needed that water, but also because one thing this show has always done right is permanence. No quick fixes, no fake outs, no take backs. Lu Ten is dead, and he stays that way. Princess Yue is the moon, and she stays that way. Half a dozen people’s moms are dead, and they stay that way. Aang is the last Airbender, and he stays that way. Zuko is scarred, and he stays that way. There are no hand waves, no easy fixes. All the characters can do is learn to live with it, and go forward. And I’m grateful the show is like that, because that permanence, as well as being a good lesson to learn, functions as a reward for audience investment.
Aang did come to a crossroads of destiny in the finale, chose his duties to the world over his friends, and got aggressively slapped down for it. I have a feeling that he’ll take the wrong lesson from that, since he was already inclined to shun that path.
Overall Season 1 was prettier.
Ty Lee was the cause of more than one Beat Up Sokka Quota fulfillment this season. Make of that what you will.
Will Zuko & Azula spend season 3 bouncing between the FN and Ba Sing Se? They could be heavily involved with establishing the FN governance over Ba Sing Se, since the city is already inclined towards royalty.
Favourite episode this season? The Guru. The Blind Bandit and The Swamp are tied for second place.

In Defense of a Rude Ass
Tumblr media
Lomfon isn't any worse than Tai.
Bow had told Tai several times that Lomfon was interested in him, so it isn't as if Lomfon just developed some crush on Tai the second he heard Tai in his head.
Tai heard his soulmate the night his parents' announced their divorce (his birthday), and avoided Patts for two years which is an extreme reaction.
Lomfon heard Tai (and Patts, but did he hear Patts because he was in Tai's head like Tai heard Patts kissing Nara?) and went to eat with Tai while waiting for the rain. This isn't a bad reaction.
Tai told Tien he could hear his soulmate, and Tien told him to speak to him and "unfuck" his issues, yet Tai didn't because he is stubborn.
Lomfon told Patts that he could hear Tai, and Patts aggressively told him to not speak to his boyfriend even though he can HEAR HIM IN HIS HEAD!
Tai knew Patts was his soulmate, got drunk, and bit Patts out of anger while withholding that information, and we thought it was cute.
Lomfon knew Tai was his soulmate, took him on a pseudo-not-date date, waited until the rain, spoke to him, then kissed him. The kiss wasn't great, but he didn't sit on it for two years then get upset when he thought the guy moved on.
Tai questions soulmates because of his parents' divorce, yet won't stop harping on his mother even when his father tells him to be like Elsa and let that shit go. Tai is still upset AT HER WEDDING because Tai doesn't mind his business.
Lomfon questions soulmates, but even when he asks Tien and Tai, Tien tells him he'd pick his soulmate, and Tai tells him he is unsure himself. Lomfon, based on the advice of two people (because he doesn't have anyone else), does what he needs to in order to prove to himself what is happening in his head, which is his business!
Why didn't Lomfon tell Tai without the kiss? Because once Lomfon learned that the keychain he has been carrying around for years was Tai's, it changed his plan. Because Lomfon was testing his feelings, not Tai's.
Lomfon is selfish, but so is Tai. Instead of telling Patts, the guy he basically soulmate ghosted for two years, that he was his soulmate, he took his cat to his clinic and bit him! And instead of telling Patts about eating with Lomfon, he lied.
Tai has people who understand this soulmate business, but Lomfon has no one, probably because his ass is rude to be honest, but for Tien to loudly tell his friends next week that he doesn't want to work with "THAT FREAK" is rubbing salt into these wounds.
Tien has always supported his brother in regards to the rainverse soulmate stuff, but can't do that for Lomfon because Tien is heartbroken. It's understandable, but Lomfon's actions are too. Tien told Lomfon to leave his brother alone, but Tien also said he'd pick his soulmate. Lomfon is conflicted and needed to prove to himself how he felt, yet he was punched, called an asshole, and now a freak. He is alone without anyone who does understand what is happening to him.
If we wanted to extend this rainverse soulmate element to queerness, Lomfon realizing he is what he is and likes who he likes regardless of how much he has tried to control it is a revelation, but on top of all that, he is being called a freak for it and is completely alone without anyone who understands what is happening to him.
Lomfon might be a rude ass, but he isn't a freak, and he isn't the bad guy. If Nara could kiss Patts setting off an entire rescue journey yet apologize for it, then Lomfon should be able to do the same. If Tai could withhold information from his soulmate, Lomfon should be able to do the same. If Tien gets to pick his hypothetical soulmate each time, then Lomfon should be able to at least see if he would too.
Lomfon is young, dumb, and rude, but so is Tien and so was Tai.
If we gave Tai two years and four episodes to get it together (even though he still fumbled this episode), we should extend that patience to this 20-year old. Mostly when Tai, standing in green and blue, is just as conflicted as Lomfon.

I really enjoy Yellowjackets but the way it throws its poc characters to the side, the way the fandom does is so unsurprising but saddening at the same time. Shauna is one of my favorite characters, she's cool and stuff but, being honest, the trope of housewife having an affair because she's bored of her current life has been played before. So what if this one had certain elements outside of it, it's still common so it kind of grew tiring to see Yellowjackets constantly shove this plot at me when Tai's storyline is right there.
Taissa, a biracial woman who, even after living through something horrific as a kid, "bounced back" and lived the life she always wanted. She was a lawyer, now ran for and won a position in office, married a beautiful and smart woman and had a son, has a whole perfect family who she loves. Only for the trauma, the aspect of her life she promised herself and others to never talk about, is now coming back and in the process causes her to do things she doesn't want to do. The plot that could have come from Taissa alone is out of this world. You mean to tell me that a biracial lesbain running for office wouldn't be more entertaining than Shauna's storyline? Why couldn't Tai be the main focus?
And I don't even want to get into the fandom, but I have too. Listen, I like TaiVan for all that they are. They helped each other survive during a time where they thought it would be impossible. But what annoys me and, sadly, almost pushed me away from this ship, was how the writers and fans treat Simone and Sammy. Like the shows only way to have Tai together with Van was to put her wife in a coma and abandoned her son? That really does not sound like Tai, who fought to get her old life. And very insidious how some fans make certain jokes that just reek of "Let's push away the black characters to make room for the yte ones", because I've seen people call Simone the villain, to other things, just because she told Tai to get help all while framing Van as the better option. I've seen people in the fan call Sammy unnatural or even a demon just because he exists in a way that is not natural, by that I mean acting out and expressing coping mannerisms because he saw a version of his mother who terrified him but can't express, but I forgot because he's a little black boy who needs help people will ignore him or dehumanize him, because that's how this works right? The shows main, and only dark-skinned black characters were quickly pushed aside by the plot for what?
And I have a feeling the show may make us watch Taissa go through great lengths to keep Van alive (even though I do want Van to live), but won't extend the same want to Simone, which will read badly with the undertones in so many ways.
And the fandom treats Tai poorly as well (don't even get me started on some pretending to care about her family just to hang it over her head and call her a deadbeat) and reaching some nearly very ableist thinking when talking about her. Taissa deserved so much better, from the show and the fandom, and I hope they do better in season three but I'm not so sure to be honest, because most of the scenes even having mentions of Tai's blackness were because of Jasmine, not the showrunners, who it would be fine if it were small things here and there but to add so many crucial parts to your character because others won't begins to become a pattern.

VALORANT UNIVERSITY HEADCANONS
@eviethelesbian once again thank you for the Headcanon List. Also shoutout to @darthladyofillusions because I included ur OC :)
Harbor is a history professor dating Astra, the archeology professor.  Both of them met on a trip to a site in India
Both of them reached for the same the brush at one point and they laughed it off later
Both of them are excellent teachers in their own way.  Varun has a habit of going on tangents about stories and is super nerdy about his subject.  Efia’s classes are fun and her energy is infectious
Cypher has a family and does cyber security for the University.  Nobody knows his actual name.
Nobody knows him that well but when he comes out of his office he’ll say hello to anyone nearby.  He goes home quickly though and usually avoids working late.
Cypher’s office is full of pictures of his family, drawings from his daughter, screens, and the scent of imported Moroccan teas
He and his wife and kid see the students off when they graduate, and all of the students are amazed to realize that this guy has such a good family life.  (They thought he was a no-life kinda guy)
Liam ‘Brimstone’ Byrne is the university’s Dean and basically runs everything as much as possible for the good of the students.  Tariq and him are the brains and guiding hand of the university
He retired from the military after he was given an educator’s license and became a professor of tactics at a military academy.  He then took his skills elsewhere and turned the college into what it is now
Liam keeps the students at the forefront of any policy changes and takes an interest in professors that are considered brilliant but difficult to work with.  He’s an expert of recruitment and reining in the right people
Has snacks in his office for students but they can only get them if they complete a pull-up on an pull-up bar he has in his office.  One arm only.
Sabine worked at R&D at a pesticide company but is the only Organic Chem teacher that the Valorant U could get.  Somehow is a good professor despite hating students and no general teaching
She doesn’t really hate them but it isn’t a good idea to get on her bad side.  It’s rumored she poisons the students she hates.
Stared daggers into the first person (Jamie), to make a Breaking Bad reference and since then nobody brings it up
Classes with her are pretty tense but if a student actually tries and gives their all, she’ll notice and be kinder to them.  Especially students who study chemistry.  Double for O-Chem.
Sabine’s style of teaching could use work, but when she tries to explain complex ideas she’s genuinely in her element.  She once explained how tetrodotoxin and nerve ion channels worked to Zyanya’s little sister
Zyanya is a professor for sure, probably the best Spanish teacher ever.  Beyond terrifying to new students
She will not let students forget proper accents and grammar, and god help the people that do.  Somebody once forgot their homework and Zyanna was literally this close to killing them
Her Spanish is specifically Mexican, and that extends to the class through some of the words she teaches.  Especially bits in culture and authenticity
Zyanya’s idea of testing people is borderline an interrogation.  10 minutes of extensive and stern conversations and multiple pages of writing.  People say it feels like their souls have literally been drained
Students come out of the classes fluent or scarred for life
Ling is a professor of medicine and completed her PHD around the same time Viper completed hers.  They were amazed to see each other teaching
She does Tai Chi for relaxation but did at one point learn Kung Fu while living abroad in a monastery for a couple of years.  She once broke a board in front of her class just to prove it
Hosts meditation hours during finals week and her office hours are always super useful for all of the medical and nursing students.  Calming as hell to anxious people
Tala got a scholarship via cross country and another from basketball, and wants to major in physical therapy.  She also got a job doing late night shifts at the library as security.
Hazal is in a band called Nightmare.  Her and several other introverts got together and started one.  Only perform in the most obscure venue.  She can play bass REALLY WELL
Tala found out and now shows up to every performance the band has.  If it weren’t for the lights flashing red and blue, you could see Hazal blushing when she spots Tala in the crowd
That’s how she met Hazal.  Tala was approached by her because Hazal wanted to study late and the two became acquainted
Both of them love the late nights that they share and Hazal is always at one of Tala’s games.  Tala picks her out of the crowd every time, and at the end Hazal always kisses her
Mateo is a veterinary student and is everyone’s friend.  Except Iselin because some of his patients got into her office once and trashed her latest project model
He keeps fish, dogs, lizards, cats, and nearly everything else.  At one point he was in charge of a project that kept some monkeys around at one point
The animal counterparts are a chameleon (Dizzy), a Chinese High Banded Shark (Thrash), a bullfrog tadpole (Mosh), and an Axolotl named Wingman
He has a crochet version of his (radivore) crew, courtesy of Omen being bored one day
Mateo is a Gen Z kid, and his vocabulary beyond salvaging
Jamie is an English major, I mean, obviously
Everyone likes Jamie, he brings a certain energy to everything he does and it resonates well with people.  His writing has a level of power and rhythm that makes it both easy to listen and layered
He is a songwriter, and poet, and even has a collection of published short stories.  His mums are proud.  His scripts are also incredible and his goal is to get his own musical to Broadway
When Jamie is in a play, it’s usually as the protagonist or the main antagonist.  It is wonderful to see him on stage, especially because he’s trained as a Shakespearean actor
Tayane is THE art student and the reason most of the faculty drinks.  And also the reason why most of the students drink too
Absolute ragers getting thrown anytime Tayane is involved.  This woman does not stop until the sun is up
Her graffiti portraits are inspired, colorful, and almost always on government property or university property.  Brim started commissioning her in order to stop her from painting everything
The commissioned murals are a lot better for her, and gave her legal access to make huge projects on some of the older buildings
One of the walls is a silhouette of a woman with big circular glasses, geometric pink and yellow patterns around her, and surrounded by flowers
Vincent Fabron is the art teacher and Viper HATES him.  He’s also that one teacher an unreasonable amount of people of have a crush on
He was a tattoo artist while taking art lessons in France, then moved into high class art.  His gallery pieces gained a lot of attention and he gained a lot of money from them.
Now he teaches art, and has done graphic design for many upscale companies.  His own business card has won awards from design and art societies though
Omen is a guy in a scarf and hoodie that is somehow in everyone’s classes.  He crochets in the back sometimes.
Texts notes at 4am to anyone who needs it and is incredibly nocturnal.  He doesn’t need sleep he needs friends
Students never remembered or learned his name, so they just started calling him Omen after the laptop brand he uses
Erik ‘Breach’ Torsten is a coach they brought in and actually manages a paralympic team.  May have criminal past according to some of the athletes he manages
He will scream at people in Swedish during games, practice, going over strategies, and if he sees them in public.  Friendly but so loud
His prosthetic arms were a courtesy of the university’s science program.  They were partially a gift and partially a test to see what they could do.  Erik made sure that he could flip people off with the arms
Iselin the professor of Industrial Design, and she is the most stern professor ever.  At times she works for a wilderness recreation company and does product design for them.
She is very organized, and her lecture presentations are always available, she lists the pages to read, dates for every assignment are posted a month in advance
Iselin’s a professional and rarely eases up, but the few times she’s been out with the other faculty she’s been surprisingly fun.  Especially with Ling for some reason
Kirra is a Biology professor that has so many plants in her room.  Has a parakeet, dog, and fish tank at home too.  Does wildlife photography on the side.
Kirra protested in college and was arrested once for sabotage.  So she is totally chill with people missing class for stuff, and gives extra credit for students involved in causes
Goes on wilderness expeditions with some students for a class and memorized several survival books worth of information and knows every plant, animal, and fungus she comes across
Klara is an engineering major and Tayane just comes to those classes because she can.  It usually results in the equipment being plastered in stickers and paint.
They met when Tayane decided to tag the garage that Klara was keeping her final project in.  Both of them sort of caught feelings as soon as they saw each other
Klara fell so damn hard, and realized this while Tayane was doing a kegstand.  Klara whispered ‘she’s perfect’ mindlessly and then realized Sunwoo was right next to her
Sunwoo finished what was in her cup, patted Klara on the back, and said ‘good luck’ before walking away and pretending she didn’t hear
Her final project has been her ‘Lockdown’ which is basically an EMP crossed with a massive DDOS hack.  It went off once and downed the college’s internet for a week.
She’s going to switch it to something a little less destructive at this point, and Tayane is helping her brainstorm.  Currently it’s a robot but she’s trying to figure out what to make it do
KAY/O is Tariq’s gamertag.  The man is a CS:GO fiend and has crazy flashes due to muscle memory
Liam and him are MARRIED.  I’m not budging on this one and you will find me dead in the ground before I let this go
Tariq’s good at a lot of random stuff and doesn’t help out too much at the college but is well-known as the ‘guy who Brim allows to help grill things’ because nobody else is allowed
Helps Liam plan out things for the students and assists in any sort of set up that he can do
Ryo is studying Japanese History and works as a mechanic at a chop shop.  It is shady as hell over there but Yoru will hook people up if needed.  They definitely steal parts though
He takes business classes and there’s a real chance he might double major.  His business acumen and aggressive nature would make him the ultimate CEO
Sasha is the professor that most students simp for, and he teaches Russian Language classes.  Throws things at students that don’t pay attention and rarely misses
He has an owl nesting outside of the window to his classroom, he named it Matrioshka after the nesting dolls.  It had owlets so it seemed fitting.
His babushka lives out of the country but gets a continuous stream of gifts from him
Sasha is that one professor that has a weird story for everything in his room.  The bow he has? killed a grizzly bear with it.  Glass eye on display?  It was a gift from a glassmaker that was caught with illegal firearms.  Weird rock?  It was at the sight of a historic battle and has a bootprint in it
Has SO MANY books from Russian writers he reads in his off time.  Also does archery at a cabin he has in the woods.
Nobody could handle Novikov at the cabin, the sheer hotness of him splitting firewood, bow hunting, and chopping trees would send people into a simp coma
At the end of the year, he writes each student a short note in Russian telling them something worthwhile.
Sunwoo is an amazing sprinter and also amazing at darts.  Loves adding photos to the corkboard she has in her dorm
She isn’t really sure what she wants to study at the moment or even if she wanted to go to college.  Gotta love families pressuring college on their kids right?
It isn’t as depressing though, she shows real talent and enjoyment in studying Business but surprisingly is leaning towards learning Journalism as well
She writes stuff for the school paper, a blog, and even has a (somewhat inspired by people around her) science fiction story.  She hasn’t thought of a name yet.
It’s about secret agents that fight against an alternate dimension that tries to steal a powerful crystal from them.  It’s quite popular with the people who she let read it and people are constantly asking for updates
Sunwoo is trying, and hopefully she’ll manage to find somewhere she can feel comfortable
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kayra is studying botany, and started a garden in one of the common areas.  At first it was small but cute, then after a few weeks the flowers and bushes spread outside of the garden and overtook the common area.
It's now her favorite place to get away from people because trellises were added in and nobody can see through the vines.  There’s a chance she keeps patio furniture in the garden too
Has been living in an apartment with Hazal.  Tala has been the only one in there and says its overrun with houseplants and hanging lamps.

LEGACY CHALLENGE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TW: mention of drug use & miscarriage
My first ever Sims 4 Legacy challenge stars the Volkovs (generation 1 & 2) and the Kealohas (generation 2 & 3). We first started the series following our Founder Alexis Dionne Ketter turned Alexis Dionne Volkov as she paraded around San Myshuno looking for any daddy to give her woohoo or money. She found several - Roy D. Dillon, Tai Lum, Bjorn Bjersen, and Wolfgang Wilder - before eventually falling in love with her enemy, Kristopher Volkov, and starting a life with him in Moonwood Mill. Together, they share six children: Ezra, Autumn (our Heir), Nicole, Edward, Clint, and Renesmee.
Alexis is now an Elder, her dust era slowly approaching, and we have still been focusing on her as well as her daughter and our Heir, Autumn Priscilla Volkov turned Autumn Priscilla Kealoha. Autumn is currently an Adult, married to her Spellcaster childhood best friend Shanna Kealoha, and the two little lesbians recently welcomed their first {living} child, Sage Kealoha, into the world. But Autumn hadn't always had such a picture-perfect life; she struggled with severe drug addiction in her teen years and early Young Adult years after the sudden death of her big brother, Jacob Volkov, broke the heart of her former friend & lover Addison Chopra, had a rough battle with infertility, and miscarried her first son, River Kealoha. We will see what's in store for Autumn and her little family as they explore parenthood, the world of Spellcasting, and move away from Moonwood Mill.

She eventually gets her wish, becoming engaged to her good friend, celebrity chef Joseph Bastianich, and having his baby and our Heir, Rosalie Bastianich. Though things get messy after a traumatic life event causes Joseph to become entangled with alcoholism.
Fast forward in the future, Gwyneth has stuck by Joseph and had a second daughter, Bella Westwood-Stallings, after getting abducted by Senior Pollinator Technician #3, or Tanisha Stallings, in the backyard of her home. Her life almost seems picture perfect as Joseph recovers from alcoholism, Rosalie blossoms into a teenager, and Tanisha becomes her good friend and a good mother to their daughter Bella. NIKKI & AKIRA (occult)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The story of Nikki St. Germain & Akira Kibo was never meant to be a series, but their antics are so comical and ridiculous - especially since Nikki is my Simself - that I had to turn it into one.
Nikki simply went on a blind date, not expecting much from it, and happened to get paired with Akira Kibo - yes, the Akira Kibo - of San Myshuno. Things did not go well after Akira didn't flirt back with Nikki. She went home after, never expecting to see Akira Kibo again. It turns out that Nikki was deeply mistaken and had no idea what her future held for the two of them.
Akira asked for Nikki's forgiveness and the two began dating again, leading to an official relationship, until Akira cheated and contracted a WTD and almost gave it to Nikki. As revenge, Nikki broke up with him and turned him into Vampire, hoping he would fry in the sun. Little did she know that Akira would turn into one of the most powerful Vampires in the Simnation, win her heart over again, impregnate her with their daughter Beverly, and make their lives a living Hell.
I have not posted a Nikki & Akira episode since earlier this year, but I am highly considering bringing it back weekly or bi-weekly since the de Vause series is now retired.
watch here: ♡

Besides those four series of mine, I also create chaotic and silly TikToks, mod showcases, Sims-related tutorials + tips + tricks, Sims photoshoots, & report Sims-related news. All of my series - besides Nikki & Akira - are partially in fullscreen mode on my YouTube channel, as well as Sims-related tutorials. I plan on making a Sims 4 YouTube Let's Play series starting early 2024 and a Minecraft YouTube Let's Play series hopefully sooner. I am very active on Twitter as well, and regularly post updates, sneak peeks + spoilers, polls, photo shoots, etc. about the Legacy & Not So Berry challenge.

Some more fun facts about me: I'm 22, a Scorpio, live in Greater Los Angeles, have been playing the Sims on-and-off since 2009, became a Sims 4 content creator in December 2021, love the colors blood red & dark green, love Lana Del Rey & Amy Winehouse & Fiona Apple & Mitski & Aaliyah & Lauryn Hill, hate labor, love to complain (this is a joke), enjoy wine & writing & reading & coffee, and also play Minecraft, Roblox, & GTAV, and love wreaking havoc on my Sims.
-
the best way to keep up with me is on Twitter or the YouTube Community, but all of my socials are here.

Dragons Among Us Theory!!
Alright, KFP4 trailer is out and I have a couple of theories that all point to one similarity and that is; DRAGONS! Now, we all know this is the Year of the Dragon and all that jazz but this trailer takes it to another level from beginning to end so let's start how we always do here and press play; at the very start! We start with this Gate called a Paifang which is commonly used as an entrance for shrines, it can also be used for common structures and architecture but ssshh!
Tumblr media
This gate is obviously made from natural materials such as burnt paper which is common practice in said shrines during the new year to make wishes along with Wood which is a Chinese element! So, we might have hints of chi manifesting into the elements of the mortal realm into something far more mystical than we have ever seen within the series! Now, this is closely connected to Dragons, dw I didn't forget! Our first hint is Tai Lung here, aka "The Great Dragon", he's only here for this one sole reason. (People aren't gonna like hearing this but he's gonna be the last bit of energy for what is to come!) The Chameleon cannot truly transform into others perfectly, there is always an imperfection such as when she transforms into the elephant which has designs upon her head on its trunk, Tai Lung has red pants instead of purple, and Po as we've all seen is rather spiky! This all leads to ONE THING, she is a shapeshifting Dragon! And one that fits this description is Shen/Chen in Chinese mythology and makes sense of those weird aquatic like Lizards in her army that match no know species we know of. Aka they are Dragons in disguise acting as normal lizards.
The second thing is her tail here. It grows rather than switches and flips and sheds scales of different colors as she did with Tai and Po, this I believe along with the shadow that follows is her true form.
Tumblr media
There could be a number of reasons why she wants Po's staff much less chi that aligns with the power much less essence of a Dragon because she is either a fallen dragon, an old god whose Shrine was left in the past by locals, or merely a Dragon wishing to ascend above what she is. It explains why the Director calls her more mystical than Kai, The Maker of Widows! She's an ancient being whose already tapped into chi and the nature around here along with knowing Dragon style already! And shoutout to my boy @thegreatying for telling me about Tibetan Temples cause I was confusing them with another type of Chinese temple so peep that info here!: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tibetan_Buddhist_architecture Honestly, this is going to be one of the best villains of this series with this concept alone, we are finally getting hints at Dragons and the door between the mortal realm and Heaven (aka the spirit realm) into the plot that continues on from what kfp3 left behind. The fact that chi is now normal and accessible makes beings like her look less special and less powerful. But gives her an opening for something even bigger than we could all expect!! So, that is my theory, that The Chameleon is just a code name for her taken form and that in reality, she is a shape-shifting Dragon and her army is also Dragons in disguise! With the themes of temples, shrines and maybe some commentary on Tourism in our future and how they affect old shrines and gods when we find it too inconvenient to visit them... Or maybe just maybe we'll get a hint at a true god-or maybe a Demi GOD YOU KNOW WHO IM TALKING ABOUT WUKONG! Anyways, that's all for now~!

while i understand why folks in the yj fandom want more onscreen dialogue about the Cannibalism Rituals, i don’t think the sudden jump to hunting down/slaughtering natalie felt unrealistic or ooc for anyone in the group. i actually thought the sudden, slap-dashed ritual development made sense—both for the show’s narrative structure and the scene’s context.
simply put: they’re hungry. they’ve spent the entire season hungry. they already cannibalized jackie’s corpse and don’t really feel bad about it. starvation completely annihilates a person’s rational brain. “why would they eat nat, one of two hunters in the group?” they’re hungry. “why wouldn’t they cannibalize coach ben, who they don’t trust and who’s visibly wasting away?” he wasn’t there when they decided to draw cards, and they’re hungry.
“if they were so hungry, why didn’t they accept lottie’s sacrifice?” lottie is the only person giving them any semblance of meaning and hope in circumstances defined by brutal, senseless violence. even tai—arguably the biggest nonbeliever of the group—joined the prayer when shauna gave birth, and saw shauna survive placental abruption with her own eyes. everyone has a vested interest in keeping lottie alive. “nat didn’t believe either. why would she join the cannibalism hunting ritual?” she’s hungry. the cards are a practical way to choose who lives and who dies. she’s hungry.
“okay but hunting and killing their friend is still so extreme” yeah it is, but they don’t hunt and kill their friend in 2x08. they allow javi to die right in front of them so they don’t have to kill natalie. we don’t know if shauna could have killed natalie in the cabin beforehand; we also don’t know if the group would have been able to kill nat, had they caught her before javi intervened. we still don’t how the girls will go from here to outright murder. i’m assuming season 3 will cover this shift, if we don’t see it happen in 2x09.
a script has to achieve the same narrative development in 10 pages of dialogue that a book can achieve with 300 pages. in a book, we’d have more time to discuss the rituals and reasons in more depth, let everything simmer. i fully understand why people wanted to see those discussions, and feel their absence acutely. but i don’t think this lack is necessarily a writing flaw, especially when you factor in all visual and audial storytelling elements. other big shifts in yellowjackets were also just as sudden and shocking: shauna killing adam, the jackie bacchanal, and simone finding the dog head come to mind in particular.
here’s what we are explicitly shown and told: they’re hungry. they don’t want to kill people. there’s something nebulously supernatural happening in the woods. many survivors are cobbling together spiritual meaning from scraps, while others are finding fewer and fewer reasons to not believe anymore. in this context, 2x08 worked for me and i’m excited (terrified!) to see what happens next.

La Pluie meets Nora Roberts
This week we open up with a shot of Saengtai (who is slowly learning to believe that maybe having a "soulmate" isn't all that bad) reading Nora Roberts.
Tumblr media
Now as a former teen Nora Roberts aficionado, I immediately clocked that Tai was reading the first two books of her MacKade Brother quadrology. For those that are unfamiliar with Nora Roberts and this series, it revolves around four brothers, with each brother having their own, separate novel. So it's a little on the nose that Saengtai would be reading this series out of the numerous ones that Nora Roberts has published, especially the books that are based on the oldest and second oldest of the four brothers.
All four novels of the MacKade brothers takes place in Antietam, which if you have any knowledge on the American Civil War, you will likely recognize for being home one of the bloodiest battles of the war. While each brother and their lovers attempt to forge a connection, there is a supernatural element with the restless souls that still haunt Antietam.
The one that Tai was reading was one Robert's bundles, which included only the first two novels, centering around the first two brothers, Rafe and Jared.
I'm going to give a brief synopsis of both books below, before doing a bare minimum dive of the significance I think La Pluie was attempting to draw.
The Return of Rafe MacKade
Here, the main protagonist is Rafe MacKade, who had left his hometown years prior after making a name for himself as the handsome, hot-headed, rebellious, good-for-nothing second-oldest MacKade brother. He's the black-sheep out of the four brothers, yet the incident which drove him away from Antietam, 10 years prior to his return, was one where he was attempting to protect a woman from her abusive boyfriend so he turned to punching the crap out of the man; but y'know how rumors develop in small towns. He returns to his hometown after 10 years as a successful businessman, something that townsfolk couldn't believe which shut them up about all the gossip they used to spread about him. He buys the local haunted house to turn it into a B&B, which in doing so leads him to meet his heroine, Regan, an antique dealer that is helping him decorate the B&B.
At first glance, Rafe and Regan seem to be complete opposites, with Rafe being a 'rough-around-the edges' type of guy and Regan, an elegant and classy dame. Rafe, while being the typical loud-mouth 'alpha-male' guy that is stereotypical in 20th century novellas, you come to find out is just a guy that is unable to fully articulate his own emotions and understand his developing feelings for Regan. Regan, on the other hand, for all her elegance, is a bit arrogant and unapologetically opinionated and definitely not looking to get into a steady relationship, much less with Rafe. They're both two incredibly stubborn individuals that are always butting heads, which leads to both miscommunication and a lack of communication, but they slowly start to learn that they actually need each other, even if they try to deny it.
The Pride of Jared MacKade
The second book revolves around Jared MacKade, who currently works as an attorney who, unlike his hot-headed brother Rafe, is much more level-headed and collected, yet just as prone to being purposefully ignorant to his romantic emotions. Jared is the oldest of the four brothers and had previously been married but ended up divorced, which lead to his distaste and shrewdness when it came to love. His story with his lead, Savannah, first starts when he meets her to let her know that her father had left her some inheritance. Savannah, having been disowned by her father as a teen and kicked to the curb due to her pregnancy, understandably pissed and initially wants nothing to with Jared.
Both Jared and Savannah are stubborn as mules, but their instant connection was undeniable. Jared was a traditionalist in love, which created some conflict due to Savannah's past and what she had to do as a teen mom to survive. The connection between them was palpable, within their second meeting they were already all over each other, making out. Yet, for all their connection, they're both initially a bit skeptical of doing more than toying around. Both Jared and Savannah had to overcome their own obstacles, Jared and his prejudice and Savannah and her hidden insecurities (that arose when she started to work alongside Regan), but despite their rocky road with love, they find a way to make it work.
La Pluie in connection to Rafe and Jared
There are some very obvious parallels that I believe La Pluie is attempting to draw with having Saengtai reading the MacKade tetralogy, but I also think there are some running themes that may be hinting at the future development for our Saeng brothers and their love interests, Phat and Lomfon.
First, the obvious parallel of the four MacKade brothers with the four Saeng brothers.
Second, the first novel, I'd like to argue, seems to hint at the future for Lomfon and Saengtien. From what we've seen so far, much like Rafe MacKade, Saengtien is perceived by almost everyone in his life to be brash, hot-headed, and rather incompetent. We've seen this from how Tien's own mother treats him and even from how Lomfon treated him in the first couple of episodes. Similar to Rafe's brashness, Tien's own brashness tends to spill out either in protection of his family, particularly Tai, or in the midst of his own confusion regarding what he wants. And just like Rafe, Tien is only starting to learn to comprehend the feelings that he's developing when he's with Lomfon. Tien has taken it upon himself to be the backbone for Tai and his family, that in turn he has sacrificed a part of himself. Instead he turns to his brashness as a mechanism to appease everyone, a shield and a distraction of the pain that he is also incurring while caring for everyone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lomfon on the other hand, while he seems to have a good grasp of his own self, seeing how he works independently but never seems to be ostracized, rather (seemingly) he chooses who he surrounds himself with, he also hides himself. Lomfon, similar to Regan is opinionated, especially when it comes to the idea that the one you hear during the rain is your soulmate. I'm sure in a society that has attempted to find reasoning to the deafness, that sentiment is likely taboo to express, yet he's willing to against the norm to create his own happiness, much like Regan did in opening her antique shop.
If Rafe's story is anything to go by, I wouldn't be surprised to see Lomfon strongly denying his developing feelings regarding Tien, as he's still primarily focused on Tai. Lomfon's seems to be developing some kind of feelings towards Tien, if the small head caresses and playing with Tien's hair is anything to go by. His feelings towards Tien seem to be slowly developing, even if he doesn't fully realize it. Meanwhile, I think it'll take Tien something big or in the heat of passion to get him to confess to Lomfon his growing feelings, especially once he realizes that Lomfon wants to get in between Tai and Phat. Tien, the ever-sacrificial loving brother that he is, will always put Tai and his happiness over his own, even if that means that he has to argue and destroy his budding friendship with Lomfon.
Tien let's himself be still, let's go of his prickly exterior, only when he's around Lomfon. He needs Lomfon, to provide the quiet energy that allows Tien to just exist for himself and nobody else. Now it's time for Lomfon to figure out how and why he needs Tien as well.
Frenemies-to-lovers is sometimes an even longer slow-burn than enemies-to-lovers, but it's okay, we can play the long game. I have hope that they'll get there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thirdly, the parallel of Jared and Saengtai, really comes to their demeanors and their anxiety that develops from impressions of failed love, yet they are still classic romantics at heart. Saengtai, similar to Jared in the beginning of his book, has been burned by the illusions of love. Yet, both, once they meet their soulmates, instantly feel some level of attraction to them. Their attraction is palpable to both of them, but attempting to overcome their own fears and prejudices, even when everything seems to be outwardly alright, can rock the boat.
It's going to be interesting here to see if Phat has some hidden insecurities that arise when he realizes that he has some potential competition. That just maybe Saengtai could be swayed by the man who shares the same interests and that solely being his soulmate may not be enough, even if, for all intents and purposes, he may be the right person for Tai.
Phat and Saengtai obviously feel a spark and found an immediate connection, but it'll be interesting to see if their relationship will end up in shambles, like Tai's parents, or will their bond only serve to be strengthened beyond the idea of just being soulmates.

Natalie Scatorccio x Fem!Reader
—-
a/n: i hope you all enjoy!!
warnings: swearing, mentions of fire, mentions of death, mentions of a panic attack, tell me if i missed anything!!
Chapter Five - Give Me a Reason To Love You
Chapter Five - Give Me a Reason To Love You
—-
1996-
It was haphazard, but after ripping a bunch of little strips of random t-shirts, Misty had managed to create a secure bandage for the gash on your face. There was a loop running over your eyebrows, one in between your mouth and nose, and another around your chin. It was awkward, and you felt a little claustrophobic- which made you think back to when Nat had placed her arm around you on the plane- but it was better than leaving an open wound to the elements.
I’m so tired, of playing, playing with this bow and arrow,
Gonna give my heart away,
Leave it to the other girls… to play
The music in your ears was a welcome distraction, and you were glad that you had decided to bring it, your small walkman and black headphones, since you always wrote best when something was playing softly in the background.
Night had fallen, and with it came darkness, and cold. A sudden burst of light, and Natalie had used her lighter to spark the fire the girls had made. You leaned forward, greedy, rubbing your hands together and placing them palms out towards the growing flame.
You could hear Nat laugh slightly over your music.
For I’ve been a temptress too long,
After everything that happened today, it was nice to stick with facts, and not make believe. The worst thing imaginable had just happened to you. Everyone thinks “it won’t be me” until it is them. They say, “it won’t happen to me, it couldn’t” until it does.
And you weren’t a fool. You saw how Tai and Van gravitated towards each other, your saw the looks, the care and concern, the touches. They were in love, and you weren’t a fool.
You knew what having a crush felt like.
But you had never expected to have a crush on a girl. Much less the enigma that was Natalie Scatorccio.
Just give me a reason,
To love you
Give me a reason,
To be… A woman
Natalie sat next to you after a moment, staring at the fire that was rising strong, flaring into a bright red and orange inferno.
You let your mind wander back to the cold, the cold of the wilderness, that not even a fire could assuage. The fire was warm, but not warm enough, so you wrapped your arms around yourself- thinking of insulated houses.
I just want to be a woman
Natalie was like fire, in a way. She was unpredictable. One day she could be burning houses down, the next she was keeping a group of teenagers warm in the wilderness. But like fire, she could be used- fire doesn’t just start all by itself. It needs a match. A catalyst. And the world had given Natalie plenty of sparks.
You wondered if she got to close- would she burn you? You always thought of yourself like a deadly nightshade, but plants could catch on fire easily.
Are you willing to take that risk?
“Give me a reason to love you,” you think.
—-
“I’m sure the plane has an emergency transmitter sending out a distress signal,” Shauna says suddenly. Everyone glances up at her from the fire, and you can still faintly see the image of the flame burned into your eyes, flickering across her face, dancing in the warm glow the actual fire casts.
“They’ll be here to rescue us by morning.”
But Shauna doesn’t know the future.
You were distracted by the sound of loud chewing, nuts cracking between someone’s teeth. Your stomach twisted at the thought of food, and you looked up at Van, at her apathetic face staring into the flames.
“Still…” Jackie started, “Maybe we should conserve some food? In case they don’t get here till later in the day?”
Van nods, her face twisting into a disgusted sort of scowl.
“You want to save the CornNuts?”
They stare at each for a moment, before Jackie looks down, and no one else at the fire speaks for a while.
—-
“You okay, Laura Lee?”
Tai taps Laura Lee’s arm, who’s still clutching that poor bear, and you notice the tears in her eyes.
She stares at the ground a second longer before replying, shaking slightly.
“This is all my fault,” she whispers.
Everyone sits up taller and looks at her. What could somebody like Laura Lee do to make our plane crash, you wonder? She’s sweet and kind, and prays more than anyone else you know.
“I did something really bad,” she whispers. Tai looks to Van, who simply shakes her head. Tears start falling down Laura Lee’s face, and her voice grows thick with sadness. “I kept screwing up in my piano lesson last week. Mrs. Brophy kept yelling at me. ‘Sharp. F sharp. F Sharp.’ I just… I couldn’t take it anymore. So I called her a bad word.”
She sniffles, and you can’t help but look around the fire, seeing everyone’s shocked and confused faces glow in the orange light.
“Just in my head, but… God heard me. Now we’re all be punished.” She says it so mournfully, and even though you’re sure God has bigger things to deal with- you can’t help but feel for her. She truly believes she caused this- but she didn’t. It was a freak thing. No one is to blame for that.
“What did you call her?” Tai whispers.
Laura Lee looks up with her big eyes filled with tears, true regret on her face.
“Cunt,” she says, so softly.
Van is the first one to laugh.
At first, everyone tries to hide it, looking down at the ground, keeping their lips pressed together tight, but eventually- the stress of their day’s events are wearing on everybody, and maybe this release is what you need.
Soon, the wilderness is filled with the sound of girls listing hysterically, gathered around the fire.
You see Laura Lee even let out a small giggle, which only makes you laugh more, until Lottie speaks.
“I steal shitty clothes from T.J. Maxx,” she rushes out, staring at the flames. The laughter dies to down. “I return them, and I get credit that I never use, and I have thousands of dollars in T.J. bucks.”
More laughing, even as Misty touches up the fire.
“I, uh, used to sneak downstairs after everybody had gone to bed,” Jackie starts with a wistful smile on her face, “and watch Color of Night so I could pause it on Bruce Willis’s wang.”
“Definitely why we crashed!” Tai chimes in, earning more laughter.
“I mean, Jeff’s not bad, but damn.”
More laughter, even as Shauna looks away, no laughter pouring from her mouth.
And, maybe it’s the adrenaline still in your veins from earlier in the day- but you confess next.
“Um, sometimes I leave these really stupid, really mean notes on Gordon River’s desk before school paper meetings.” Everyone waits for a second, for some grand reveal of how he wronged you. “He’s just so fucking bitter towards me ‘cause I’m a better writer than him.”
More laughter. A part of you wants it to stay like this forever- this peace. But, you can hear the wilderness all around you- the rustle of a few branches, the soft scurrying of a squirrel or a chipmunk through the leaves, the sounds of an owl.
The wilderness is only just sinking it’s claws into you.

2021-
The scar on your face had gotten better with age. Once you had gotten out of the wilderness and some moisture had returned to your face, the scar healed much better. Countless doctors appointments, antibiotics to make sure there wasn’t anything brewing under the now-closed skin.
For months after the crash, when reporters followed you at every turn, they would always ask about your scar.
Did it come from the crash? Did it come after? Did one of the other girls hurt you?
The sudden vision of a hazy, humanoid figure. A crown rested upon her head- but it wasn’t like the one in movies or books. It was a crown of bone, of antlers, like a deers. The Antler Queen-
You rubbed your eyes, looking into the mirror, tracing the faint scar on your face. You had gotten really lucky with it. It was only on your face, not your head, so you didn’t have a concussion or a brain bleed. And besides for the fact that there was a huge gash in the middle of your face, it was superficial. Deep, but it didn’t hinder your ability to move your face or talk in anyway.
You thought about Natalie.
You didn’t think about her a lot these days, but she used to always smell like cigarettes and alcohol- especially those first few days after the crash. And with an apartment soaked in the stench of nicotine, it was hard not to think about her.
She tasted like cigarettes and alcohol too, even after the wilderness, in those few months you spent motel hopping around the south- shutting the blinds each night, turning the TV on loud and getting drunk and high and whatever else to pretend like you weren’t utterly dying inside.
Not only was the wilderness inside you, but it was wrenched itself into your soul in such a way that you would never be the same again. It had forced your organs aside, made a place in you where it wasn’t supposed to be. Something inside of you was broken. Displaced.
You doubted you could ever fix it.
The last time you saw Natalie was about a year ago, another stay in a motel, upstate New York, fucking around in some random city- far away from the forest.
That was when she overdosed. That night is hazy, but you remember pleading for her to stay with you, stay alive, and she did. You stayed just long enough to make sure she was alive, then you came back to the city. Moved into your cigarette-soaked apartment, got your job at Whole Foods.
A new number. A new address. A new job.
And in a place like NYC, she had no hopes of ever finding you again.
And you were fine with that. That’s what you wanted.
You couldn’t see her hurt herself again- and maybe that was selfish, but it was for you.
But on nights like this, when it’s fall, and it’s a little cold- you think about her. On nights like this, when a bird has found it’s way too close to your window, you think about a night you spent with her.
Neither of you had dont any drugs that night, surprisingly, and only had a little to drink. So in the dingy motel, in that cold bed, Natalie had wrapped her arms around you while you kissed her neck, laughing, talking about something you can’t remember.
When the wind picked up, it didn’t bother you. But when the tree started to scratch against the window, that’s when it started.

2019-
At first, it had only spooked you. You were tired enough for one little noise not to totally terrify you. Besides, with Natalie practically surrounding you, you could barely hear the first scratch against the window.
The next few were the same.
Until the wind came again, faster and stronger, scratching, scratching, like the sound of a knife hitting bone, like the sound of someone screaming far away. The last sound prey would make, before they died.
You shot up in bed, dragging Natalie with you, while she blinked the sleep out of her eyes and tried to tug you back to her, asking if you had a nightmare, while tears streamed down your face and you covered your ears, letting out a small cry.
“What- what’s wrong?” Natalie asked, cupping your face with one hand to get a good look at you, her finger sitting perfectly over your scar.
“The tree,” you gasped, “the tree, the tree, Nat, please-”
She didn’t say anything for a moment. Just thinking, until she pressed a small kiss to your hairline, and whispered:
“We’re in Texas, baby.”
She grabbed the remote from the bedside table, turning the TV on, some random talk show about the best five kitchen appliances to make cooking easier.
And like that, with Natalie wrapping herself back around you, your face in her neck and the sound of a talk show host’s squeaky voice, you fell asleep.

get to know your tav!
tagged by @auspex-author and @lolthslover (thank you!) sorry it took me so long!
meet Divya (she/her), asmodeous tiefling, way of the four elements monk
Tumblr media
what is your tav’s…
favorite weapon? her hands (both in unarmed strikes and spells)
style of combat? a mixture of spells from a close-ish distance and throwing punches/kicks. also more defensive? she didn’t learn combat before becoming tadpoled, as she never really wanted to be a fighter.
most prized possession? considering she had no possessions when she lived in the church, she had nothing but the clothes on her back for around eight years.
deepest desire? to become a monk at the temple of ilmater in the city of baldur’s gate.
guilty pleasure? she was not allowed to partake in any guilty pleasures while living in the monastery, but now she can do things like eat a cookie or drink wine or mess around with Wyll without feeling too much religious guilt afterwards.
best-kept secret? before she went to serve in elturel’s church of ilmater, her mother revealed to her that she was not her father’s child. that is why she lacks the tiefling’s signature infernal eyes.
greatest strength? she stays cool, calm, and collected in the face of danger. always thinks before she acts, and tries to limit her damage to others around her.
fatal flaw? she has spent so many years taking on the pain of others, that she doesn’t know how to truly grapple with her own. from elturel’s descent into avernus, being shunned from her church of ilmater, becoming separated from her family, and now being tadpoled, it’s a surprise that she’s about to keep her head on straight. this does eventually boil over, though, and Divya is unable to handle her heavy emotions on her own. (maybe I should write about it? hm yeah that would be fun)
favorite scent? whatever cologne Wyll’s wearing
favorite spell/cantrip? fist of unbroken air. bad guy always go wheee.
pet peeve? when people don’t try to understand the pain some people go through or just dismiss it entirely
bad habit? tends to pick at her nails if she’s anxious/stressed, usually paired with trouble falling asleep
hidden talent? not a talent, but her thumbs are double jointed. gave Shadowheart quite the scare when she first showed them off.
leisure activity? the Forgotten Realms equivalent of tai-chi and yoga, she uses these practices to ground herself and find inner peace
favorite drink? a monk? drinking? you can’t be serious! arabellan red
comfort food? her mother used to make this delicious lamb stew. Gale has tried to replicate it, but hasn’t succeeded yet. mostly because lamb is hard to find.
favorite person(s)?
Wyll: not only is he handsome, but he seems to have a good head on his shoulder and a positive attitude (for the most part). He will also (usually) think before he acts.
Karlach: though they are fairly polar opposite when it comes to their personalities and the way they handle combat, opposites attract, and they work very well together.
Gale: his knowledge intrigues her, she enjoys having long conversations with him about whatever he’s thinking about at that moment in time simply because it’s entertaining.
favored display of affection? quality time, for sure. it’s one of the reasons she and Wyll get as close as they do — he’s always in her party 😉 also physical affection, but preferably behind closed doors or behind big boulders because she gets embarrassed easily
fondest childhood memory? the first time her parents took her to the church of ilmater
anything else you’d like to share?
Tumblr media
Divya is a little socially awkward. only speaking to others about their pain and sorrows for around eight years has left her with little to say when her party members come by and have a chat. she is a much better listener than talker.
Her biggest insecurity is her vitiligo. Growing up, the other children in school would call her a cow, which also made her insecure in her body image. She doesn’t eat too much because of it, and up until the events of the game, had most of her body covered to hide her pale spots. If anyone asked about her face, she’d say she was a victim of an acid attack.
She and Darcy, another tiefling tav of mine, were friends when they were children. Darcy is four/five years older than Divya, so she was only eight when Darcy was kidnapped from Elturel. She often wonders if she’ll ever see her friend again.
The Church of Ilmater in Elturel cast her out after the city’s descent into Avernus. They did not want anyone resembling devils in their halls.
Wyll is the first person she has ever been romantically involved with. Here are a few fics about their relationship:
To A Wild Rose - Wyll (successfully) rizzing up Divya
Just A Kiss - Divya and Wyll’s first kiss shared at the camp party
Show Me How - Wyll gives Divya some… pleasure (nsft)
Tagging @rolansrighthorn @dustdeepsea and @my-favourite-zhent give me some tea on your tavs!!! (only if you want to tho uwu )
