Dead plate talk (part 2)
Why do people ship Vincent and Rody?
If you didn’t see the last post then you may not get what I’m saying entirely but I’ll try to provide context.
Last time I said that they are the different sides of the same coin. Cat and dog. Selfish and selfless. Dark and bright. People hater and people pleaser. So different but connect in so many ways. People like when opposing sides are attracted to one another. When their souls are far more intertwined than they themselves know. Both fools, chasing after happiness with methods that lead to nothing. Rody is offering his everything on a plate for others to eat and Vincent is a gluten that’ll not even leave bones behind.
Vincent was the first to go mad. Since he and Rody are so similar, do you think Rody would have done something horrible as well? Vincent was closer to the edge than Rody so does that mean with just a little push he would be there too? That edge might have been one of the endings. To be consumed? To be (supposedly) left by someone you love? To find your loved one taken? Really up to you. What happened with Rody after?
Spiraling down slowly till they went hand in hand in a sudden drop. What happens when the selfish and selfless finally sees what the other has? When it’s that extremes. It can be quite chaotic.
Also people like to pair those they find attractive together.
messed up little guys that suffer chose extreme actions to try and find happiness. Once they meet they drive the other or both a little (lot) insane. Then you just smush them together like dolls and say “now kiss”.
Aka - Opposites attract but fucked up and with cannibalism

Every now and then I still about the post you did on "Beasts of Horror" about three and a half years ago or so. It's still surreal to me that I discovered who is my favorite twitch channel (Macaw45) thanks to said post, and you have my eternal gratitude for it. I also enjoy your posts and reblogs in general, and I hope you've been doing great as of lately!

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

This is long so be warned.
Rody VS Vincent - Selflessness VS Selfishness
From the way Rody acts it feels like he might have a lot of self hatred? Or not a lot of self worth? He’s far too focused on how to make other people happy. This is the complete opposite of how Vincent is. His hatred is pointed towards other people. Hatred for the world maybe?
Rody doesn’t take care of himself at all. He can’t cook so he can’t feed himself, his living space is filthy, his apartment besides being a mess also needs repair, he barely has any food in his fridge, and he doesn’t own things like an umbrella when his only form of transportation has no way of keeping him dry. The server job he’s working isn’t something he’s doing for himself. That money is never going to be used to change his living conditions. He won’t do that because he will want to use it for Mammon. She left him because of that. Having someone you love be self destructive so you can be happy isn’t great. Rody doesn’t learn from what she says because he can’t see himself being happy any other way.
The act of caring for himself seems like a taboo. Doing things for yourself isn’t a thing in his eyes. Putting effort into something for yourself isn’t a valid idea in his mind. I get this idea from the fact he questions Vincent on why he put so much effort into his career.
Vincent is entirely the opposite of Rody. Someone who is incredibly selfish. He’s willing to scare, hurt, and even kill someone for his own wants and desires. Everything he does is for his own happiness. His cruel control of the chefs is to make sure they don’t mess up what he has built, the hole he has in his offices wall so he can keep an eye on the dining room to make sure everything is going well, and killing Mammon to try making food with “love”. The only reason he tries (in his fucked way) to cook with love is because he believes it may be something he’ll be able to taste. He can’t taste of course but when he hears people saying his food is missing that taste of it he grabs onto that. Delusional in thinking this will somehow taste like something.
Just like how Rody doesn’t understand why he did so much for only himself, Vincent doesn’t understand why Rody is dedicating so much to Mamon. Why spend so much effort to make someone that isn’t you happy? How is that going to make you happy?
They have a lot in common. As I said, Vincent is delusional and so it Rody.
Rody thinks he just has to earn enough money to do a big act of love for Mammon and that’ll make everything better. Not listening to the reason she gave. He doesn’t understand or doesn’t want to care for himself so he makes his own false idea I his head on how he can fix this and be “happy” again.
Vincent against reason thinks that he just needs to cook with “love” and it will somehow let him taste again, or taste at least something. No medicine nor dish has fixed his problem but somehow the thing which he doesn’t even believe in will change things? It’s desperation. He believes taste will be the key to being “happy” again.
Vincent and Rody act this way to be happy. Vincent tries to do things to make himself happy and Rody tries to do things to make other happy which makes him happy. Neither are truly happy. Rody hates himself because he thinks he’s a fuck up, someone that just can’t be happy by themselves. Vincent hates people because they have what he doesn’t and then they complain about his food in a way he’ll never understand.
Saying that their different sides of the same coin would be fitting
Being selfish or selfless isn’t a bad thing, you can care for yourself and others. But taking either to the extreme is just going to drive you crazy and hurt the people around you.

"ugh it's going to be so annoying seeing so many kids at the fnaf movie-" have you considered shutting up.
There is a 80% chance you were exactly like those kids at some point. And there's nothing wrong with that. People being excited about something they love isn't "cringe". I sincerely hope that the whole theater will be laughing, crying, and clapping in unison. If TLT plays in the end credits I hope people starting singing along off-key. I hope that before it starts, someone notices that someone is wearing a security breach t-shirt, and starts gushing about their favorite characters. I hope someone references game theory and at least three people do the worst matpat impression you've ever heard.
FNaF is a francise with a considerable child audience. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You can respect their bubbles and let them have silly arguments with eachother, just let kids be silly and overzealous and awkward. This is their moment too. Don't take it away from them.
Be free of the shackles of cynicism and self-loathing and enjoy the present with earnest joy.

i got rickrolled today but it didn't work because i have adblocker installed, so youtube just told me i violated the terms of service. yesterday i was trying to edit a picture as a joke for my girlfriend, and google made me check a box to prove i'm human because i wasn't "searching normally".

but you're like me, i know it - you're careful, you try the library meetings and the stuff at the local school and all of that. the problem is that you kind of want really specific opportunities that used to exist. you are so grateful for libraries and the publicly-funded things: they are, however, an exception - and everything they have, they've fought tooth-and-nail to protect. you read a headline about how in many other states, libraries have virtually nothing left.

you want to read a new book, but the book has to have 124 buzzwords from tiktok readers that are, like, weirdly horny. you can purchase this audiobook on audible! your podcast isn't on spotify, it's on its own server, pay for a different site. fuck, at least you're supporting artists you like. the art museum just raised their ticket price. once, they had a temporary exhibit that acknowledged that ~85% of their permanent art galleries were from cis white men, and that they had thousands of works by women (even famous women, like frida! georgia o'keefe!) just rotting in their basement. that exhibit lasted for 3 months and then they put everything away again.
walmart proudly supports this strip of land by the street! here are some flowers with wilting leaves. its employees have to pay out-of-pocket for their uniforms. my friend once got fined by the city because she organized a community pick-up of the riverfront, which was technically private property.
no, you cannot afford to take that dance class, neither can i. by the way - i'm a teacher. i'm absolutely not saying "educators shouldn't be paid fairly." i'm saying that when i taught classes, renting a studio went from 20 bucks an hour to 180 in the span of 6 months. no significant changes to the studio were made, except they now list the place as updated and friendly. the heat still doesn't work in the building. i have literally never seen the landlord who ignores my emails. recently they've been renting it out at night as an "unusual nightclub; a once-in-a-lifetime close-knit party." they spent some of those 180 dollars on LEDs and called it renovating. the high heels they invite in have been ruining the marley.
do you want to experience the old internet? do you want to play flash games or get back the temporary joy of club penguin? you can, you just need to pay for it. i have a weird, neurodivergent obsession with occasionally checking in to watch the downfall and NFT-ification of neopets. if i'm honest with you all - i never got into webkins, my family didn't have the money to buy me a pointless elephant. people forget that "being poor" can mean literally "if i buy you that toy, i can't afford rent."
you and i don't have time to make good food, and we don't have the budget for it. we are not gonna be able to host dinner parties, we're not made of money, kid. do you want some kind of 3rd space? a space that isn't home or work or school? you could try being online, but - what places actually exist for you? tiktok counts as social media because you see other people on it, not because they actually talk to you.
there was a local winter tradition of sledding down the hill at my school. kids would use pizza boxes and jackets and whatever worked, howling and laughing. back in september, they made a big announcement that this time, rules were changing, and everyone must pay 10 dollars to participate. when im not scared shitless, i kind of appreciate the environmental irony - it hasn't gone below 40. so much for snow & joyriding.
i saw a bulletin for a local dogwalking group and, nervous about making a good first impression, showed up early. the first guy there grimaced at me. "sorry," he said. "there's a 30-dollar buy-in fee." i thought he was joking. wait. for what? the group doesn't offer anything except friendship and people with whom to walk around the city.
he didn't know the answer. just shrugged at me. "you know," he said. "these days, everything costs money."
