if i had a nickel for every time a telltale game i loved had a villain who used a piano to power some sort of device/perform a ritual as the final boss fight in the 4th chapter. i’d have two nickles, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.

Okay i love Monkey Island so much and Elaine is absolutely such a girlboss especially in Tales of Monkey Island 🙏 this was inspired by a screenshot I took of her in that game because she's so pretty. WAAAH.

Phoenix's life is already so goddamn weird, he might as well have to deal with Monkey Island nonsense amirite
[image id: a digital painting of the ace attorney court with two men at the defense bench. phoenix wright is leaning on it, staring at guybrush threepwood with frustration and disbelief. Guybrush looks rather pleased with himself, stroking his chin. phoenix is saying "you did what-" but is cut off by guybrush, saying "he should have known the risks of 'insult knife-monopoly'". end id]

I have this headcannon that you can agree or disagree with, whichever because it's still just my headcannon.
Return to Monkey Island state in gameplay that all the adventures Guybrush had are being told as stories to his child, so they can go in any order the viewers would like, aside from maybe MI3 where him and Elaine get married and after where they are actively married.
My headcannon is that Guybrush doesn't tell Boybrush the story of what happened in tales all the way through or hasn't told him the story yet because he still has major ptsd from the events that happened in it.
Think about it, you have all these silly adventures you went on trying to find the secret of monkey island and the treasure of big whoop along side your love interest, always chasing after her being kidnapped by the villain who comes back, never facing any real danger and then boom one day it all changes when your stabbed in the chest with a sword and die in your wife's arms, only to then come back as a ghost and then a zombie as well and see her take your murderers side. (Under mind control of course but it still hurt.)
This man sacrificed a lot, even risking his single shred of life to save everyone and possibly end up stuck forever in limbo with no hope of going back.
They laughed at it and made light of it when he returned but that stuff just doesn't go away, it sticks with you.
That's why I believe in my headcannon that he probably had a lot of trauma with it, maybe some he told Elaine, maybe not. But that story in particular probably took a very very long time to finally tell his son.
