Since I am riding a mental Realm of the Elderlings wave at this moment, I would like to share my RotE shelf. Immediately after reading the first book a few years ago I grabbed hardcovers of the entire series because I knew without question it would become an all-time favorite, and I was absolutely, 100% right.
The Fool and Fitz mean much to me.

so far so good?? i’m currently up to ch 14 of Alloy of Law - made a joke just the other day of “mistborn but put a cowboy hat on it” lmaoo
i think it’s serving as a good transition(?) point for me with it still being in the same world, so I get some familiar terms and elements mixed in with the totally new stuff, yknow??
I’m still early on and I’m doubtful it’ll match up to my feelings toward the OG (my introductions to franchises/universes always feel Extra Special haha) but I’d say give it a shot if you’re curious!!
---
I’m reading the W&W books physically, but bf has said we might go back to audiobooks for Stormlight Archive “”because they’re big”” lol
don’t know the full gameplan but he’s read all(?) of sanderson’s stuff to my knowledge so im kinda just trusting his judgement as my guide into the greater Cosmere lmaoo

I really, really want a long and emotional fantasy (or sci-fi) series to dig into but am suffering because I don't know of any I'll like for sure.

I've been reading this fun fantasy book from the 00s about a bard who is released from prison after 17 years of solitude and torture. It centers on him slowly trying to reintegrate into the lively world despite his traumatic past while trying to figure out why he was imprisoned in the first place (he was never told). I was really into the tone, and the mystery of his imprisonment, there was a strong dragon component to the society and lore that I am (of course) a big fan of, and I found the world so interesting...
And then, 60% through the story, a new character is introduced that the MC gets a crush on, the POV swaps to the new character, and it essentially becomes a romantic comedy in tone. They have to fake kiss and dress up and infiltrate a fancy ball and everything.
Brooooo. 😭

A friend informed me that you can be a dragonborn, meaning I without hesitation caved and bought Baldur's Gate 3.

I think the most disconcerting thing about being transgender is how it feels to interact with someone who knew you for literal years pre-transition that does not recognize you.

Flight Rising is celebrating its annual Night of the Nocturne festival, which means I have zero life outside of grinding for dragon eggs for the next 2 weeks.
Join me in egg hell if you also play, please.

The past few years I've taken to reading a lot of modern fantasy series, and while occasionally one like The Locked Tomb will surface and pull in a big fandom, that is a rare exception. A majority of the time it just leaves me stirring in emotions about characters with little outlet.

I remembered suddenly and violently that dragons are the best thing in the entire universe yesterday, so I finally took the plunge into the two immensely popular dragon series I'd yet to check out -- Temeraire by Naomi Novik and McCaffrey's Pern books.
holy cow I love dragons
I love them

I smashed through my 2022 reading goal with ease, so I decided to change things up for 2023 and shift my new year's resolution to beating video games instead of reading books. I'm not really a gamer (at... all, really), but from owning a Steam account for over a decade, I've collected lots of things to play.
I'm setting my goal to 13 video games, which is roughly 12.5 more games than I normally play in a year.
If you have any suggestions for which ones to play from this list, let me know! I will mostly be playing whatever sounds fun in the moment otherwise. Any title bolded means it's one I'm leaning toward prioritizing from my cursory glance through my library.
Action: Bastion; BioShock Infinite; Moon Hunters; Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time; Sayonara Wild Hearts; Transistor
Horror / Mystery: Alicemare; Fran Bow; The Hex; Little Nightmares; Night in the Woods; Oxenfree; PRICE; SOMA; What Remains of Edith Finch
Platformers: 1001 Spikes; DLC Quest; Hollow Knight; INSIDE; Nihilumbra; Thomas Was Alone; VVVVV
Point & Click: Dropsy; Emily is Away Too; Hiveswap Act 1/2 (beaten already but want to replay to get all the achievements); Life is Strange: Before the Storm; The Red Strings Club; The Room; The Room Two; The Room Three; The Room 4: Old Sins; The Secret of Monkey Island; Tell Me Why; The Walking Dead
RPGs: Child of Light; Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition; Disgaea PC; Dragon Age: Origins; Dragon Age II; Final Fantasy VII; Final Fantasy X/X-2; Labyronia RPG; LiEat; OneShot; Rakuen; Tales of Beseria; Tales of Symphonia; Tales of Zestria
Puzzle: Antichamber; Catherine Classic; Ether One; LIMBO; Portal; Portal 2; Snakebird; The Talos Principle
Visual Novels: AI: The Somnium Files; Angels with Scaly Wings; Eliza; Hatoful Boyfriend; Heaven Will Be Mine; HuniePop; Long Live the Queen (technically beaten already but I want to 100%); An Octave Higher; Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy (playing this one right now!); We Know the Devil; Zero Escape: The Nonary Games; Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma
Other: Age of Empires II; Age of Empires III; Homeworld; Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale; SteamWorld Heist; This War of Mine
