WIP WEDNESDAY- EXCERPTS

warning: this is another little AU ive been working on…(do u all see a pattern lol) but yeah. lawyer AU that im slowly working through. its got some workplace spice to it. but heres a lil bit of it. no real warnings besides foul language.
note: who ever wants to participate in the challenge is of course welcomed to do so!
"what would you do without me?"
"suffer". "survive".
you thumb over your phone, ending the call. amused at the irony. cody could—contrary to what he thinks, but with barely any feet left to stand on—survive on his own. just barely. but roman would absolutely suffer.
and though you've never let the words leave your lips, form the letters together to produce such a humble grouping of syllables, suffering would be your portion without them. because new york, in all its supposed opportunity, was overly congested with ambition and malice and corrupt spirit. it was a machine of a city, and would soon turn anything and anyone into a lowly little cog, before it ever showed you some much needed grace and favor. thats why it never slept, and maybe thats why you barely do either. forcing caffeine down your throat to your belly to keep up with the pace. they, the boys, probably did it for the same reasons. and they weren't even from here. conforming to this jungle of a landscape out of pure will to succeed. to say they did it. pride and ego. that's what you think it is anyways. even amongst the satisfaction of so called justice. that's all it ever was.
your stomach grumbling again. pushing forward past the entrance of the firm and hustling up two flights of steps. coffee boxes and bags of cups, sugars and creamer running across to crease your fingers. it was a bad day to forget your gloves. but it was either that or miss the train.
steps clack with an echo. warm, strong fingers pulling at the boxes in your hands. its roman. small smile slipping into his lips. and its probably only because you've come with his coffee.
he takes everything from you. and the relief is sweet to your fingers.
"my savior", he muses. "i got a nice little gift for your efforts".
"paperwork isn't a gift. it's labor". trailing behind him till you both come upon the open space styled office area. "and to be quite honest, i feel like, me, specifically, i've lived past the need to work".
he sets the bags and boxes down in the kitchen area tucked away from paper riddled desks, fashioned with computers, printers and other general office supplies. a mocking pout set into his mouth as he looks to you. standing tall and wide.
"theres this little thing called reality and adulting...", his voice smooth, mirthful and patronizing. and if not for the handsome ways of his face, you'd lean into the violent intrusive thought of splashing hot coffee at him. just where his freckles scatter across his cheeks. "...where you pay bills, get too little sleep, eat, fuck, stress and solve minuscule problems that make you go gray. and then you pay more bills".
"sounds like a slow painful death".
roman pours his coffee. sipping at the undefiled black of it. no sugar or creamers. just the bare bitterness of a pure brew. "we die daily anyways don't we?".
"i'd like not to die without the suffering and student loan debt".
"you do realize that you went to law school and became a paralegal right?"

Fanfic self-rec!!
So a while ago I got tagged by @forest-falcon (im 99% sure), and I didn't get to it at the time, but I really wanted to do it! So here it is, very belatedly and based entirely off my memory of the post because I don't have the energy to conduct an archaelogical excavation of my blog as I can only hope I tagged it well.

Probably the most chaotic way of answering this. Also turned into a bit of me reflecting and musing over my writing.
But in no particular order as I'm proud of them for different reasons :)

Blue Skies- tumblr Ao3 Scott and Bereznik with Gordon too. Very whumpy, then hurt/comforty. I am extremely proud of this one, like so so proud. There is a massive amount of emotion in it, written all in one go and I stayed up to 1 am to finish it. It is a lot about trauma and honestly a lot of putting feelings onto paper. But all the details, the parts I think i did a really good job of viscerally showing instead of telling, the blue skies theme. It's intense and there are many awful, painful things, but there is also hope. That's definitely a main theme of my writing: no matter what I put them through, they will come out of it and there will be hope again.
Bruised- tumblr Ao3 Earth and Sky. Hurt/comfort. Some Virgil worrying over Scott, a bit of classic Scott-angsting, then lots of brotherly affection between them. The end is very Soft. Everyone gets a hug and then to sleeeep.

As Sure As The Stars- tumblr Ao3 trans Alan! A realisation of it, and a coming out. And Alan and John together stargazing and a conversation on the roof. I poured alot of growing up queer experiences into it for myself and it also seemed to resonate with others too.
Pride Paint And Rainbow Pins- tumblr Ao3 My first Thunderbirds fic and for Thunderpride too!! Its short, fluffy and sweet! Some artist!Virgil plus a few puns. (And I really wish I had all of those pride pins, because I made the designs of nearly all of them up and I love them). And the pride themes! It really makes me happy in itself. But as well for being my jumping off point in Thunderfam. It has many of my queer headcanons for everyone when I'd been too shy (and anxious about being welcome) to make them into my own post.

Towing the honesty line here and saying that every ship - no matter its nature - has something I flat adore about it; something unique and captivating and that makes me excited about writing and exploring it. Stacking them up and naming names or pairings just feels like a fast track to potential hurt feels and I'm not about that life. Each is my favourite version of itself.
What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?
Most anything, honestly. Any kind of relationship - platonic, romantic, familial, a complex mix of those appropriate for mixing or a more straightforward affair. All sorts of relationships fascinate me, and I'm happy to explore provided it's well plotted out and we - as muns - have chatted about yeses and nos and boundaries and all that good stuff.
How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?
I won't ship with minors or write ships where Ron and a minor are even vaguely romantically inclined. Otherwise - provided we're writing about legal adults consenting to things/being in situations - I'm not overly bothered about it as a concept, however--

I can promise you a 38 year old Ron, say, would whap an 18 year old interested person round the head and chuff 'em off home to their mum as soon as look at 'em. Just because it's write-about-able doesn't mean Ronnie'd be interested. Man's got his own wants and needs and I can flat swear someone 20 years his junior like that example there says cannot, CANNOT meet those.
Are you selective when shipping?
I need to have a good rapport with the other mun, certainly. We need to plot things out, test ideas, make worlds and if we can't do that, I can't get comfy enough to open my (hard as fucking nails but still) muse up to the kind of connections shipping (any kind) entails. Elsewise, of course, there must be chemistry between muses if we're talking romantic shipping.
How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?
Friends I'll write everything from the beginnings 'til the ends of an intimate encounter, but I'll also always follow my writing partner's cues and comforts in that regard. I don't and won't write smut. More power to those that do, of course. It's just not my thing. But intimate scenes needn't be smutty and I'll write, like I say, all the detail my partner's happy with. We start mentioning parts and private zones, that's NSFW and it'll be tagged as such. Mine is, //Behind Closed Doors.
Who are other muses you ship your muse with?
I've been shipping with @hislittledxll since...2016? With @brooklynislandgirl for perhaps a sneeze less time? So they're my darlings and I don't know what I'd do without them. Some pairings I've loved to see in recent media include Paul and Chani in Dune/Dune 2, and Lestat and Louis in Interview With The Vampire (it's so toxic...SO TOXIC, but so beautifully done).

1. i have a wonderful little elderly cat who i love dearly even though she bites me every day. shes my dewdrop muse. she has a water ghoul name too
2. i wont say exactly what i do at work because its kind of specific but the general idea is i make computer programs that are used to modify peoples teeth
3. i almost got a minor in something so specific i feel like it would reveal what school i went to, but its stuff about light and color and vision and perception. i took all the classes but was too lazy to actually do the paperwork. my major (and the subject of my masters) was computer science
4. during college i did an internship at a company everyone ive ever told the stories to says is basically a knockoff version of theranos (i.e. a huge fraud). it was miserable but so funny in retrospect
5. im not a vegetarian but i barely ever eat meat. i was a vegetarian for maybe 5 years as a teenager but i became too obsessed with checking for secret meat products in things and had to stop
6. i lived in australia for 6 months. i arrived there with more organs than i had when i left
7. i can move my clasped hands from in front of me to behind me over my head without letting go and without doing any specific trick with my elbows
8. i drive a purple car (but its really dark and looks black unless its in the sun). i found it by going on a car website and seeing the option to filter by color and immediately clicking purple like some sort of child but its actually a great car
9. i wear almost the same clothes every day like a cartoon character. black t shirt + black sweatpants or jeans depending on the situation + black denim jacket when going out unless its too hot
10. i died (or rather, became dead) when i was 24 years old. it wasnt very exciting i just suddenly realized i could feel my organs liquefied inside me. i dont think i ever came back to life. this has been very influential on my identity

GET TO KNOW THE WRITER - VAL EDITION !
what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? i first played ffxv back in the fall of 2017 and fell head over heels in love with the game. to this day i don’t think there’s ever been a cast of characters that’s had such a lasting impact on me as the boys have, and at this point ever will. i actually first started off writing prompto, sometime in early 2018 and shortly thereafter kind of fizzled out of that because i was new and super shy and didn’t really know anyone in the community. i was around 18/19 then and actually took a break from tumblr for a little while, but always kept in touch with the xv community on twitter/instagram so the love i had never went away. fast forward to 2020 and after replaying the game i decided to pick up noctis who at that point had been my end all comfort character for a few years. he very quickly became my little pincushion and then unintentionally a processing tool i used to process a lot of issues in my own life. i notice a lot of nuance in my old notes and ramblings that 100% reflect my struggles at that time and its like huh! wow! didnt know it did that. regardless, noctis is the muse i hold most dearly to my heart and someone i will love for the rest of my life. < he 3
is there anything you don’t like to write? ive seen it all brother. i can be convinced with one skimmed over ao3 tag and then some. regardless, i don’t have any hard no’s that aren’t the incredibly obvious, and i think rp is a great way to develop and analyze your likes and dislikes in a safe environment. it’s okay to be into something in one thread and then change your mind later, that’s something i had to learn the long way but i'm better off for it!
is there anything you really enjoy writing? i really love angst. not sure what happened developmentally to get here but we’re here. i think that shows a lot in my preferred range of media i write in (or just consume casually,) there’s just a certain…. je ne sai quoi 🤌 in writing your character going through the absolute extremes of the human experience. besides that, i really go crazy with character analysis/general meta. i love to deep dive into mundane (or otherwise) aspects of a character and build up traits to fully flesh out a muse.
do you write in silence or do you play music? i need complete silence or i will literally never finish a sentence. i am way too scatterbrained to focus on two things at once and need to lock the fuck in when i’m writing a reply.
do you plan your replies or wing them? who do i look like shakespeare. i’ve never planned out a thing in my life im consistently operating strictly off vibes.
do you enjoy shipping? im a dirty little shipping whore. shipping is god's gift to the planet what else would i do if not daydream about my two little guys passionately kissing in a field of wheat.
what’s your alias/name? val :3 my psn tag is a variant of valkyrie, and after i was tired of my old alias i looked there for inspiration. say thank you god of war (2018) for shooting me into another norse mythology frenzy, feels just like middle school.

last show you watched? i love a good netflix documentary and i just finished one called the program: cons, cults and kidnapping, which was about exposing the troubled teen industry. it’s a super interesting watch but deals with quite a few heavy topics so if you’re interested please heed caution! i also just started american nightmare, but im only about 30-ish minutes into the first episode…. gotta lock in.
last song you listened to? according to spotify it was safari song by greta van fleet but according to the fortnite festival session i just had it was carry on my wayward son by kansas. literal war flashbacks.

do you have a tumblr best friend? i have my gaggle of tumblr friends turned irl friends in my pockets at all time and i wouldn’t trade any of them for the world. i met one of my oldest friends in ye olde supernatural rp back in 2013? and over ten years later WE’RE STILL FUCKING HERE. so many of the most important people in my life i’ve met through tumblr and the amount of shit we've seen through the rpc's we've been in has bonded us all for eternity lmfao.

~ Chemistry MATTERS. Chemistry is the life blood of my roleplaying muse - for any type of ship: Friend, enemy, platonic, romantic, etc or any kind of au we may or may not try to do.

Following: I do try to read over everyone’s actual rps before I click the follow button so I don’t clutter my dash with things, though there is a good chance that if I’m following you I want to talk to you in some way shape or form. Its fairly easy to get me to follow you in truth.
Unfollowing: If you post more out of character things than in character things there is a chance that I will unfollow you. If you tend to post more pictures - without just cause such as a meme of some sort - on a regular basis then I will unfollow you because I do not need my dash crowded with things that have nothing dealing with the threads that you have going on. Posting picturess of your fc or particular scenes with your muse is fine - to each his own - but spamming the dash? I’m not a fan.
Note: Also remember that Tumblr tends to unfollow people sometimes so if I accidentally unfollow you and follow you once more it is not entirely my fault as it could have been an accident.

hiii, this is random but i want a fursona acct for myself, and im not sure what to post if im not an artist? 💀 sorry if this is silly
i dont think this is silly at all, but im not sure if im the best person to ask since 90% of this blog is my own fursona art 💀but i can share a few ideas!
if you want to make a fursona and/or share concept art of your sona without having to actually draw, you could try checking out piccrew and seeing if there are any you like! theyre similar to ye old character makers from deviantart before flash died - most of them are humans but theres a few really nice furry ones
speaking of deviantart - you can also just go onto various websites (including tumblr, but also DA, pinterest, honestly even google) and search "free to use / f2u character base" , many of these bases are compatible with really simple art programs like ms paint -- it would basically be like using a coloring book to fill out the details of your own sona :) just make sure you credit/link back to the maker of the base if you do post it online!
if youre a writer -- or even just like talking about your sonas/ocs lore -- you can post about that!
if you have money, you can commission artists for art of your sona and reblog (or repost - with credit) onto your blog to keep a collection of art!
one of my favorite ways to recreate ocs is on ponytown ! even if you dont care much for mlp, or dont want to play the game itself, you could still use the character creator to make really cool mockups of your ocs/sonas (there are options for dogs/cats/dragons/etc, not just ponies!) -- theres options to export the images straight off of PT into pngs and even gifs!
most people dont talk about this much anymore, but honestly, you can roleplay. i feel like rp fell out of the general furry fandom because its seen as "cringy", but thats bs - as long as everyone involved is a willing participant and having fun, then go crazy! you can rp on your blog, make "muse" posts (i dont know how to explain this very well - look up "rp muse" on here for some examples) etc to help develop your sona/ocs more!
EDIT TO ADD: i somehow completely forgot furry memes exist. u can absolutely just reblog a ton of memes to get into the vibe of your fursona. something i like to do on my personal blog is tag specific memes with the names of my ocs (or my friends ocs) to get a vibe for that character specifically :)
ETA: similar to the above, you can also just make pinterest moodboards for your characters and post those here as well!

STANDARD THEME. requiem, k. 626: confutatis ( w.a. mozart )
nothing feels more like a damian soundtrack than mozart. the heavy vocalization and dramatic violin perfectly capture how he moves, how he thinks. if this entire eight minute segment isn't laid over a montage of damian doing damian things in batman & robin live action i don't want it. the drama, the consistent fading through high and low emotions just fit him too damn well.
BATTLE THEME. the one who waits ( river boy )
as a complete contrast to his standard theme, battles are a joy to him. fighting is upbeat but sincere: he has the confidence to win but the calculation to understand that this is not truly a game. this one's from cult of the lamb, if i remember correctly it's the song that plays when the lamb interacts with the one who waits. to go alongside damian's family theme of demons, it just fits.
BOSS BATTLE THEME. skull hacker ( mick gordon )
i am a mick gordon stan before i am a human so maybe this is biased but i can't not add this one. when you fight a demon, you need appropriate music. if damian is a boss to fight, he should have the fitting music for an absolute bloodbath. though bfg division was my initial thought, it has too much of the feel of one against many rather than the one on one feeling you get from skull hacker (or im scarred from sinking too many hours into doom 2016). to fight damian one on one, especially the older he gets, is to taunt death herself.
EMOTION THEME. i was lost without you ( clint mansell et al )
soft piano music with the somber hint of bitterness and inevitable doom always hits the right spot for angsty young boys like damian. this one's partially my own nostalgia but mostly because it has the right level of buildup that matches his character arch overall. he learns to carve his own identity over time and the sound goes from such a mournful feeling to more bittersweet, it just feels right. an alternative here would be stand strong, stand together from the same ost as it has such a more superhero vibe to it but its too hopeful :)

just as a small bit of heads up when it comes to interacting with both my killer / aggressive type muses and my survivor / victim type muses:
your muses can absolutely attempt to or successfully harm my muses. if they are in the middle of a struggle, they are being attacked or mine are grabbing at your muse? your muse can respond in turn how you see fit! i do not mind at all c:
----- luda mae isn't exactly physically strong anymore due to her age; however - she has blood on her hands as well, not nearly as much as charlie or thomas but she is not above using her age and perceived frailty because of it to her advantage.
----- birdie, wes, maria, my reagents, night hunter/don, vincent, and the legion, all of them your muse is fully okay to go after, grab, maim, throw shit at, lift off the ground, throw them, pull on their hair, you name it - if its something your muse realistically should do during struggles and fights and such, yours can harm my muses.
----- also, technically speaking? for my survivor / victim muses, in terms of one-shot interactions ( ie. responding to an inbox thing from me ) your killer muses are welcome to kill them for those brief interactions.
if its easier to imagine: think of it in similar terms to the entity putting survivors through trials only for them to in essence "revive" and be completely fine for the next. c: i usually treat my inbox content as one-off pieces. they aren't necessarily meant to be a part of the muses' overall stories by default. so, if your killer muse wants to kill one of mine in an ask response? go for it! if my muse is being mouthy to your killer and they reasonably get ticked about it and wanna teach them a lesson? go. for. it.
----- otherwise, i dont plan on killing off any of my muses for realsies and anything other than one-shot inbox things? don't just outright kill my muses without warning or talk. :)

the ONLY muse i would say that high chances are, those things won't quite be as effective would literally be with thomas.
granted i'm not too sure exactly what height / weight that bubba stands at. while he is a pretty stocky guy, he also doesn't look nearly as beefy as thomas does. thomas is portrayed being as physically intimidating as possible.
I write thomas as being 6 feet 9 inches tall. he's a bit of a heavy set guy. and he is built quite literally like a brick and cement building. he isn't just strong - he is CONSISTENT HARD LABOUR strong. his muscle tone is functional, not just for show so to speak.
while for sure, stabbing at him, knocking things over in front of him to cut his path, etc. will slow him down / break his attention on who he's after? don't mistake his size for incapability to catch up real quick. hes like a rabid dog - poke at him long enough to agitate and he is a bullet train coming right at you.
and just because hes often got his hands full by his chainsaw, doesn't mean he's useless without it. i'd wager that being literally pummeled to death by a man his size may be worse than a "quick" death by chainsaw blades to the face.
so what i mean is: your muse ABSOLUTELY CAN attempt to attack thomas as well! :) i would just say that it may not go nearly as well as hoped dsfjksa
( this is NOT to say however that i will disregard any discomfort when it comes to your muses being hurt / attacked btw. when i write any sort of altercation that may result in bodily harm, i auto-default to beginning an action and allowing the response to be either left open-ended for a brief interaction, or for you to decide your muses' next move / how they dodge it / etc. ya'll are always welcome to shoot me an im or make note of it in the tags or ask etc to ask about any of what i've spoken about here c: )
