SUMMERTIME SADNESS!

To celebrate summer in a very special way, we are holding an event! In this event every writer we support can participate! The theme is "Summertime Sadness".

Every fic written must contain angst! (It can have a happy ending so long as the overall theme is angst driven).

If you are apart of our network, you are able to write for this event.

The event will be held starting July 15th until August 15th.

There is no minimum or maximum word count.

"I Was Always Popular In School" c.2004. Acrylic on canvasboard. The title is sarcastic. School was horrible and I had really bad judgment in picking "friends". They were toxic, didn't care about me, were intentionally cruel. I was also just becoming ill with schizophrenia by the time I reached 15. I was in schizophrenia prodrome, had no idea it was happening (no one does). The combination of both issues made school, especially high school, absolutely miserable. I felt like the figure in the painting. Alone, huddled up and learning not to be open with anyone without being taken advantage of (or mocked outright). . I painted this in the summer of 2004 when I was in a severe clinical depression. So the minimalism is intentional (I was probably too tired) and the monochromatic color scheme is both being tired and also trying to put across how bored I was in school, how "one-note" everything seemed (if that makes sense?) .
