I don’t know much about the Sufi whirling other than is a spiritual/ meditative dance. I’ve never seen a woman perform, I thought only men were allowed. Very beautiful and moving. So glad this popped up in my YouTube suggestions

AT LOVE'S COMMAND
If you don’t see the hidden River, see how the waterwheel of stars continually turns. If the heavens receive no rest from being moved by Love, heart, don’t ask for rest—be a circling star. Do you think God lets you cling to any branch? Wherever you make an attachment, it will be broken. Before God everything is like a ball, subjected to and prostrating before the bat. How should you, O my heart, being only one of a hundred billion particles, not be in restless movement at Love’s command?
Mathnawi VI, 913-915; 926-927
(translated by Kabir Helminski and Camille Helminski)

"Ah, to be offered such fiery directness from my fellow dancer!"
"Do you feel it too, my dear: the void filling our cups with meaning? Do you see the stories of the darkness and the abyss: the anger of this realm? Have they all but painted themselves across my features, and a vision so unmistakable behind these eyes, that even you may perceive them with clarity?"
"Praises be."

The Wisdom of Rumi
The Wisdom of Rumi
Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī (30 September 1207 – 1273), was a Persian mystic, philosopher and poet, founder of the Mevlevi order of Sufism. Rumi was known as the “drunken Sufi” because he found ecstasy in dancing, poetry and music. One day Rumi was walking along a street in Konya, Turkey (then part of the Persian empire) when he heard the rhythmic beating of a goldsmith’s hammer. That melodic sound spurred…

Each step he takes is guarded. Bare pedes slip from one step to another- scraping soundlessly as he rolls his ankle joint. Silks in varying lengths drape from shoulders and hips, a small sheer tunic that highlights the light from his spark crystal.
Rather than hide it.
The first of the drums start, and he begins to follow the rhythm- optics closing and visor going dark. One set of hands reach up- palms pressed against each other above his helm, and the other meets at the spot at the center of his chest. Slowly, carefully- heels begin to rock up and down, turning the motion of his hips into a sinuous figure eight.
He knows, somewhere - in a hidden alcove, a Prime watches. He knows that the other Priests are observing, seating other devotees on their soft cushions. Another dancer, hidden in the darkness- comes forward to mirror his motions. They dance around each other, steps soft and gliding as they move eerily in sync.
One of the drummers starts to chant: O Primus eternisori, halithe'a- o'halithete. You are the eternal sun, the eternal flame that burns the wickedness away.
His helm falls back as the motions of the dance lull his processor into that soft glow of euphoria. The rush of motion, the surge of his adrenochromes- and the pulsing of his spark as it oscillates in time with the drums.
He does not see the other dancers as they appear out of shadows, a consistently shifting concentric circle with him interweaving here and there through their lines- an atom lost from its bonds and floating free in the darkness of space.
