Serious Injury Traffic Crash

VEHICLE 1: Blue 2019 Honda Civic SI, Florida tag.

VEHICLE 1 DRIVER: Michael L Cuellar, W/M, FL

VEHICLE 1 DRIVER INJURIES: Cuellar suffered life threatening injuries in the traffic crash

 VEHICLE 2: Tan 2019 Subaru Ascent, Florida tag.

VEHICLE 2 DRIVER: Victoria A Hunt, W/F, Cape Coral, FL

VEHICLE 2 DRIVER INJURIES: Hunt suffered non-incapacitating injuries in the traffic crash.

VEHICLE 2 PASSENGER : Glenn H Hunt Jr, W/M, Cape Coral, FL

VEHICLE 2 PASSENGER INJURIES: Hunt suffered minor injuries in the traffic crash.

 SYNOPSIS:

Vehicle 1 was traveling southbound on Del Prado Blvd S in the center lane approaching the intersection of SE 32nd St. Vehicle 2 was traveling northbound on Del Prado Blvd S in the left turn lane waiting to turn left (westbound) onto SE 32nd St. Vehicle 2 made the left turn into the path of Vehicle 1. Vehicle 1 swerved to the right in an effort to avoid a collision but the front bumper of Vehicle 1 struck the front right side bumper of Vehicle 2. Vehicle 2 rotated counter-clockwise and came to final rest facing northeast on the sidewalk on the westside of Del Prado Blvd. Vehicle 1 was redirected to the right (southwest) and jumped the curb on the south side of SE 32nd St. Vehicle 1 continued in a southwest direction and struck an elevated parking lot retaining wall where it came to final rest. The driver of Vehicle 2 stated that she saw oncoming traffic and felt she had plenty of room to turn and Vehicle 1 appeared out of nowhere traveling very fast. Multiple witnesses that were traveling southbound behind Vehicle 1 stated that they observed Vehicle 1 traveling at very high rate of speed. One witness also stated Vehicle 1 was racing another vehicle just prior to the crash.  

The driver of Vehicle 1 was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital via ambulance with life threatening injuries and is currently in critical condition. The driver of Vehicle 2 suffered non-incapacitating injuries. The passenger of Vehicle 2 suffered minor injuries.

 Major Crash Investigators J. Barkley and P Wilson responded. Forensic Tech K. Buckner-Brager also responded.

Alcohol/drugs ARE NOT a factor in this traffic crash. Next-of-kin HAVE BEEN notified.

Investigation is on-going to determine an at fault vehicle.

Subaru Unveils New “Dog Tested. Dog Approved.” TV Ads

The love for four-legged friends continued by Subaru with a series of custom digital content and partnerships

Continuing its tradition of creating popular pet-focused ads, Subaru has launched all-new “Dog Tested. Dog Approved.” advertising spots.

The four spots showcase the Barkleys, the adorable family of Labrador and Golden Retrievers, who recently helped to launch the all-new Subaru Ascent.

In the newest “Dog Tested. Dog Approved.” spots, the Barkleys will take on everything from driving lessons, to the first day of school and even a doggy-run car wash.

The television spots, created by Carmichael Lynch on behalf of the brand, aired during the 24th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, where the brand marked its 14th consecutive year as a proud sponsor of the SAG Awards and the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. The all-new 2019 Subaru Ascent was featured on the red carpet.

The four “Dog Tested. Dog Approved.” spots feature the Barkleys in scenarios not unlike those that drivers find themselves in with their own families.

“With more than half of drivers having pets, we believe it is important to celebrate the love of pets shared by our owners. Pets are considered members of our family and utilising the Barkleys in our campaigns allows us to connect with our customers in an authentic, fun, and entertaining way,” said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President, Marketing at Subaru of America.

In addition to the creative spots, the brand is partnering with BuzzFeed and Funny or Die on custom content that will highlight #MakeADogsDay later in the campaign flight.

The custom content will include short-form videos created specifically for social platforms to engage with an audience that has an affinity towards pets.

To round out the campaign and extend the celebration of pets, the brand will also be sponsoring this year’s PUPPY BOWL XIV on Animal Planet, marking its eighth year as the event’s Official Auto Sponsor, which airs on Sunday, 4 February.

Did You See The New Subaru Ad?

The dogs are back, as what can be seen in the new TV commercials for Subaru of America which aired during the Screen Actors Guild Awards. There were 4 commercials, each being around 30 seconds long. All featured the Barkleys, a family of Labrador and golden retrievers.

The Subaru commercial provides a humorous take on the situations in which families find themselves. The commercials are titled "Driving Lesson," "Drop Off," "Car Wash," and "Drive Away." In "Driving Lesson,"

noisy geese cause one of the puppies to become distracted and accidentally reversed into and knocking over a mailbox.

In the commercial titled "Drop Off," the parent dogs parted ways with their child on the puppy's first day of school. After a short pep talk, the puppy walks away, then turns to look at the parents pensively, one of the parents whines and whimpers in despair

The commercials make you smile and tug at the heartstrings. It is easy to see the strategy behind the commercials. Instead of pushing hard and overselling the brand, the ads seek to connect by entertaining the audience.

You don't have to be a pet owner to appreciate the humor and cuddliness. Because of the way the commercial is made, it is not country-specific. The situations and humor portrayed are universal. Because they are dogs, there is no language barrier. Subaru Gothenburg could air the commercial and it would have the same impact. Although the commercial was made for Subaru of America, I won't be surprised if the commercials are being aired in various countries right now.
