One thing I enjoy about The Narrative in Princess Tutu is how implicitly tied to gender Drosselmeyer’s story roles are. Take Princess Tutu and the Knight. They ostensibly have the same fate: dying for the Prince while achieving absolutely nothing. But while Princess Tutu gracefully turns into a speck of light after confessing her love, the Knight is gruesomely torn apart. Over and over again in Drosselmeyer’s narrative, femininity is associated with romance while masculinity is associated with violence.
The Princesses are given one goal: earn the heart of the Prince at any cost. Meanwhile the Prince and the Knight are both expected to be fighters. The Knight will fall against the Raven and the Prince will be left to battle for the rest of his days. And while the Prince is strongly tied to love—he loves everyone—he isn’t expected to compete the way the Princesses are pitted against each other. The men are protectors against the Raven while the women are left to fight over them.
We see the strain these toxic gender roles have on the characters. Without the influence of the story, Fakir most likely would have grown up to be a writer. Instead, the combination of trauma and growing up under the expectations encapsulated by the role of the Knight hardened him. In this way, violence was something that was imposed on him, something he learned to embrace. Likewise, Duck doesn’t want to compete for Mytho or make him hers. She’s more preoccupied with protecting her friends than finding romance.
That’s why it’s so cathartic to see these characters defy their fates. Duck is perfectly contented without her Prince, Fakir puts down his sword in favor of a peaceful life that he’s much more suited to, and even Mytho rejects the idea that he must love everyone equally to pursue romantic love. In this way, defying fate is also defying gender.

The other night I got kinda sad and so I bought one of those things that lets u track a shark around the ocean as it travels to cheer me up and got inspired to draw this
If u haven't been able to tell sharks are one of my absolute favorite animals Ever so what better thing to do than draw them with one of my favorite characters ever?

another thing i was thinking about iterator speculative biology!
iterators can intake water through their puppets too! it's rather inefficient to intake water through your puppet if you are still attached to the structure, but if you are off the string then it is basically the only way you can intake water! (note: the puppet recessives water through the major water conduit wires in the mechanical arm if they are attached to the structure!)
the water (preferably cold, room temp is fine. but warm water makes them ill) will circulate to the vital systems to cool them off, then to the less vital systems, then into the lungs.
if you noticed, the lungs have two parts: water storage, and water to water vapor conversion part. the water vapor then gets breathed out through the puppet vents.
intaking water isn't just to cool your systems off, but it is also to breathe. of course if the iterator is off the string then they do not need to intake water 24/7, the aforementioned water storage in the first part of the lung can hold onto water for quite a while.
but water is still VITAL to their function, depriving an iterator of water is basically just choking them to death AND giving them one hell of a fever.

When Niall had invited Emma for a nice dinner out, she had no idea what was actually going to happen later that night. Still, it would have been a beautiful evening to her just by itself, since they had not been on a proper date as a couple until then.
But when she turned around to look at her partner that night, she suddenly felt like she had been transported into a fairy tale, like Snow White when her prince kissed her awake, or Cinderella when she was given back her shoe by hers. In front of her, Niall was kneeling on the ground with a ring and a question, and Emma struggled to keep the tears from coming as she listened to him.
When she, of course, said yes to marrying the love of her life, she let herself drop to the floor, right where Niall was still crouching, to accept the ring and kiss him until their legs would give in.
[TRANSCRIPT]
Emma: "This was truly a wonderful evening, Niall. And look at the stars! Isn't it just a beautiful view?"
Niall: "It sure is."
Emma: "I could stare at if forever. I want to paint it!"
Niall: "You should, darling! But, uhm... would you look at me for a second?"
Emma: "Of course, Ni. Wh- oh!"
Niall: "Emma... I love you, you know that. I love you so, so much! We're already living together, and that was one of the best decisions in my life. But I think it is time for us to make this whole thing a bit more official, don't you think?"
Niall: "Basically, what I am asking is... will... will you marry me, Emma?"
Emma: "Oh, Niall! Of course I will marry you, cutie!"
Niall: "You make me the happiest man, Emma."
Emma: "You make me happier."
Emma: "I love you."

Sooooo I had an idea recently……
Lenny (my Larry x Karen next gen for anyone that's new) is really artistic, loves drawing / painting!! He likes any kind of art really. He's good at a lot of it.
He has always been into it since he was little, so he almost always has a sketchbook with him by the time he gets to middle school. He obviously didn't meet Cas 'til he was in 7th grade (when Cas starts 6th grade).
At first he didn't think much of Cas, other than he seems cool. But then he'd have classes with him and for some reason his eyes would always drift over to em'. He never understood why. Though it became slightly more clear as he'd doodle in his sketchbook and subconsciously the doodles started to be Cas.
This only furthered when, Lenny started staying after school and watching the school swim practice. He started doing this because Larry and Karen worked late and he didn't wanna be home alone for hours with nothing to do.
(Kathy (his sister) was usually picked up by them cause she'd have after school stuff anyway, and Steve (yes, Mr. Small) was always doing something so he wasn't home til later either.) It didn't start with swim practice, honestly he watched any of the after school activities but he found the swim team to be the most interesting, especially since a certain someone was there.
And yeah, so he'd stay up in the bleachers and doodle. These pages are just some examples of things he'd do. At this point he's well aware he's crushin' hard LOL
I love these two so much ;v;
One of those times he was like "What'cha drawing?" only for Lenny to slam the book immediately LMAO
Also, Lenny never ever showed Cas while they were friends because.. all his doodles had hearts or sweet things that.. "Cas would think I'm weird" but when they started dating he was finally allowed to see them :P
I love these two so much ;v;
The 2nd doodle is just a bonus one because I drew them so it was fitting to add to the post lmao
