Cut Fankids Round 5

Once again that time for the yearly fankid cull. But I like to lay them out in a list like this to make them easy to add back if I change my mind. The theme (which is usually always the theme) is it's kids I don't wanna design. So they're getting the axe.

- Tory Lund (Omega; 37) & Pierce Sego (Alpha) (TowerFallShipping)

Avarel Lund - Omega!Boy; 15 (Twin) (one-night stand)

Alois Lund - Omega!Boy; 15 (Twin) (one-night stand)

The drama here was funny (so perhaps still happens anyway, who knows), but also I really am pretty stumped on a design for these two or even just who they are as characters. I really like the Max/Tory twins and a design for Rayner wouldn't be too hard if I just did it (and he's the important one with a story so won't cut him) but these two really do exist just for drama with the parents and not because I like the fankids. So just gotta cut my losses. Tory/Rafe just end up mirroring Wally/Brendan a bit more now (since that’s why they have the same age gap as Wally/Brendan, meant them as a parallel) but instead of being able to overcome the hurdles of accident baby when they're young, forcing them to make their relationship serious, they just aren't able to make it work, despite trying.

- Eusine Mori (Beta; 46)

Feng Mori - Alpha!Boy; 14 (Unofficially Adopted/Ward of Eusine)

This isn't a direct cut per se, more moving Feng's parents around to try and save him. He's a character with enough backing I feel even were I to cut him, I'd still think about him. It's mostly Eusine as his guardian I just don't see anymore. So he's now added to Will/Karen's fam as the adopted lil bro of that family. Which since he's always been meant to be a bit flamboyant looking once I design him, I feel like it would fit right in with those two. Something something a weird Faller child with a cursed doll/Pokemon is something Will and Karen can probably handle better than Eusine. Also I’ve been kinda wavering on this fam, not sure if I want to keep them (more it’s Yumi who’s the issue, I have no idea what to do with her but don’t wanna cut her yet) so perhaps this will help shake things up enough to help with that issue.

- Tracy Sketchit (Alpha) & Daisy [Rivers] Sketchit(Omega) (HandymanShipping)

Beatrice Sketchit - Omega!Girl

This is not this ship being cut, just the kid (who in my head I always call Beat-Rice which is not endearing her to me enough to ever actually design her). But what is happening here is while I thought I cracked the code on a ship for Misty…I didn’t. Not really feeling Misty/Lorelei at all anymore as a ship. But adore the kids I designed, especially Aurora, so she gets to be a Handyman kid now. But what’s that you say, she is very clearly designed as a Lorelei kid? Don’t worry about it, she just super stans Lorelei. Thus why she’s theming her team around her and kinda styles her hair to match Lorelei’s iconic hair spike. But since she always was meant to take after her aunts a lot, in that sense, switching Daisy to her mom works fine. And Misty’s entire fam has wild hair colors anyway so why not a surprise redhead. I suppose it’s possible if Beat-Rice revives herself and a good Lorelei ship comes to me, I might flip Aurora back to Lorelei. Could even flip her back to Misty once I figure out what’s going on there. But for now she’s chilling here.

Not the kids being cut here, just the ship. I just…can’t see them as a couple. No matter how I try to twist things around to maybe make it work. Decided on the ship out of desperation and the knowledge it would lead to good fankid designs (which it did, cracked the code in that sense at least). As I mentioned, Aurora goes to Tracy/Daisy and Calla will stay with Misty. I’m still debating who the other parent is. If I’m feeling lazy might just use Rudy (and was who I threw up as a placeholder). Say he’s that rando guy Misty is on a date with in HGSS (since I’ve always kinda contemplated if I could figure out who that guy could be, could just use him since am gameverse. Is her “canon boyfriend” in gameverse afterall). So basically going back to my earlier route where Misty has a daughter with basically an “OC.”

Also in gen, I’m thinking about shuffling some other kids around to different parents (for those whose designs either would make sense or would only need slight tweaks). As a way to trim ships without actually losing kids I designed for said ships. But still debating those so would make that another post.

Hello, anon! Sad to say I haven't been reading up much during my break, but I do still have some recs that I think were amazing reads from a few months ago! Though I'll be honest, even then I wasn't reading a lot, but-

Here are my top 5!

This is technically an ongoing series but I loved this to bits, and I will insert this as my collective top 1. Am I biased? Yes, yes I am, but that's besides the point. Chuuya, born in the muggle world, finds out he is a wizard and attends Hogwarts, where he befriends Dazai, the adopted son of notorious Mori Ougai. I loved the incorporation of Harry Potter and Bungou Stray Dogs into this, being an old fan of the former and a current fan of the latter, and it's just genius writing. Good characterization, and good plot too. It's not just a rewrite of the HP series with a change of characters, the plot was tweaked too, to better fit BSD's vibe. Definitely my top 1 on this list.

Honestly, anything by setosdarkness in AO3 is a blessing. This one, I think, I've read maybe 5 times already, because I get so much serotonin from this! It's funny, it's crack, it's on-point in a way, and it's the fix-it I need what with ADA, Port Mafia and the Guild all being in one party, playing charades. Easily my top 2, this is my comfort fic of sorts. I read it again recently, after coming back here, you should too if you're into crack/no angst fics!

THIS!! This fic is one of my firsts in the BSD fandom, and I loved it so, so much, I even have the linked Spotify playlist saved in my library. THIS is what you read if you want slow burn and tension and mafia involvement and ANGST but also some good soukoku shit. I swear, their characterizations is on point with this. Basically, Chuuya gets married off to Dazai and their marriage signifies peace between their groups. Kouyou leads Chuuya's, and Mori leads Dazai's and THE PLOT TWISTS and SLOW BURN is so worth it.

My favorite shin soukoku fic, for one reason and one reason only: CAT RASHOMON!!! Seriously though- neighbors au is everything. How I long for domestic shin soukoku. This is no angst/lowkey crack but overall just very light-hearted. I love the way other characters are involved in this too! If I remember this correctly, soukoku also pop up as a side couple, but the focus is mainly on cat dad Aku and adopted cat dad Atsu.

Can't finish off a rec list without some RanPoe so here! It's basically just them being geniuses yet completely oblivious to one another's feelings. I love Louisa's involvement with this, and this fic is the reason I stan platonic Poe/Louisa when I initially haven't considered it since they don't interact much in canon. Oh, and it's a college au, all fun and games and maybe some mental breakdowns over finals (if I remember correctly). Just a light, fluffy fic with a healthy sprinkling of humor. I'll probably read this again for the feelgood vibes it gives me.

Now for some honorable mentions!

All you need to know is FukuMori watch their son Dazai grow up with Chuuya- whose dads are VerRim. Very domestic, highly recommend this.

No, it's not the popular one from Haikyuu lol BUT! Paul and Arthur adopting Chuuya instead of... you know, whatever happened in canon?? The perfect fix-it, especially after reading Stormbringer.

Again with the family dynamic of zskk/dazai and verrim/chuuya except this one's more focused on soukoku. It's ABO, but it's also a royalty au with an amazing plot, and overall development with twists on canon events. If you don't mind omegaverse then this I urge you to read this!

On the topic of long fics, here's an iconic one for skk. Think: singers! soukoku but better. If I remember this right, this was inspired by the song "still still still" sung by soukoku's voice actors??? Which was a catchy song btw, check it out. And it gives us fake dating, turned real dating, with lots of bad decisions and Dazai taking up acting. A good read if you want a longer fic!

Much shorter soukoku, with the classic coffee shop x flower shop worker au. I love the flower language from this fic, and the light vibes. I also love the way other characters were incorporated into this?? And I like soukoku being idiots in love.

Now I've reached my link limit damn this site but I will not be stopping just yet.

For fics with less than 4k words: here's one where atsu and rashomon interact, it's all soft sskk; here's where aku spoils atsu, in the soft way okay? Get your mind out of the gutters; here's one where almost everyone in ADA kiss dazai to break the curse of an ability and because dazai is a little shit he lets them; here's ranpo introspection and coming up to the deduction that he has feelings for a certain mystery writer; and here's the prologue?? of Full Tacit Understanding (see Top 2) but it's just Chuuya grocery shopping and Dazai watching him.

These are for the brave, but here's Chuuya in a dress plus relieving sexual tension and here's an ongoing series where sskk help one another but there's also some plot... but mainly I'm adding this here 'cause it's hot.

I'd also like to add that my bookmarks have some good stuff but also know that 60% of my bookmarks are privated, and with good reason <3 That's all I can think of, I hope you like these, anon!

Ouran High HCs

For the fifteenth birthday of one of my favorite romantic comedies, and the day that I started watching said romantic comedy with my boyfriend who is relatively new to anime it got me thinking about these characters and how wonderfully diverse their personalities are. The show has 100% chaotic energy and I love it so much. I wanted to look at every major character in the host club (Haruhi, Tamaki, Kyoya, Hikaru, my favorite twin Kaoru, Honey-senpai, and of course Mori-senpai.) using all their personalities and make some head-canons for favorite group of crazies!

Haruhi:

- She/they icon, we stan

- Always preferred to wear more masculine clothes growing up, they were less expensive than the feminine ones. Plus she felt more comfortable in a pair of shorts as opposed to a dress.

- A very active child, she was always running around her neighborhood, going to the park and doing things with her dad.

- Her dad taught her everything that she needed to know about makeup once she became a member of the host club.

- She worked a part time job in order to help her dad pay the bills and to get food money.

- She thought that she was arosexual before joining the host club. Despite the confessions that she got in junior high they either went entirely over her head or she told them that she was too focused on her studies for romance at that time. Of course all that changed when she met our favorite blonde haired himbo goofball.

- She did wind up taking the conversational French with the twins and often times they'll slip into it for practice. Of course, Tamaki always understands when they talk shit about him so they just do it to mess with him.

Tamaki (my favorite):

- Bisexual king, honestly I love that for him out here living his best life.

- He didn't have much of a childhood between constantly needing to be there for his mom and make sure that she was healthy and okay. It's why he made the host club in the first place to live out his childhood that he was robbed of.

- Is actually way smarter academically than most people might think. If you were to look at the class grades he's always right behind Kyoya. He dedicates a lot of his free time to studying. He's not inherently stupid, just naive.

- His mom was the one that got him into cosplay by introducing him to the various kinds of fabrics. It stemmed into a personal interest that he could lose himself in and distract himself from the loneliness.

- He practiced flirting on Kyoya back in middle school for the future host club once he had his heart set on it.

Kyoya:

- In the words of the great immortal J Michael Tatum "Kyoya is probably gay". It was something that didn't even occur to me until I watched him do an Ouran panel and then I was like holy shit the king makes a good point.

- While Tamaki was his gay crisis, he quickly realized that he would spend forever pining after him and eventually shelved his feelings. Tamaki was his best friend and that was more important to him than his feelings.

- Kyoya has always been a really keen observer of people's true intentions. He's excellent at reading people and knowing what they want from him. The only people he has never been able to read perfectly are Tamaki, Kaoru, and Haruhi.

- He originally didn't want to be a doctor but he eventually wanted to prove himself so badly that he told his father that he would surpass his expectations no matter how high they were.

- Doing background checks on people is fascinating to him. It's not just for blackmail purposes but he likes learning people's weaknesses. He's also an excellent chess player.

Hikaru:

- The definitive over protective sibling. Anybody hurts Kaoru they will wish that they were dead. Kaoru is the most important person in his life and he would do anything to protect him.

- His tsundere tendencies come from a place of wanting to protect those he loves not out of anger.

- While he is begrudgingly worse at letting in other people once you fight your way through his walls he's actually a really amazing friend and s/o.

- His love of the fashion industry stems more from the model side of things than anything else. He can't design anything of his own to save his life.

- He never cared about any girls in his life before Haruhi came into his. Even though he didn't know how to deal with his feelings she was the first person who ever really showed that she cared about him.

Kaoru (my preferred Hitachiin sib):

- One big gay disaster that is absolutely crushing on Kyoya (I just learned about this ship today and it has stolen my life juice.) To blush when he's working with Hikaru to please the ladies all he has to do is think of Kyoya in his brother's spot.

- Is the far superior designer that can actually make really beautiful clothes. Most of the costumes that are worn by the club are designed by Kaoru.

- His hair is a lot softer than Hikaru's even though it's the same style, hair product and everything. I think that his would be more poofy and Hikaru's more spikey.

- Kaoru has always felt like he had to work harder to be like his brother that when you spend time with him alone at first it will be almost like you're talking to a replica of Hikaru and not a separate entity. At first it's a little bit awkward but once you get him out of his shell you find what a sweet and amazing person he is.

- Kaoru is an incredible skateboarder. He loves the feeling that he gets from the wind in his hair and designed his own skateboard. A lot of his hobbies outside of the club are athletic related causing him to have a more defined body than his brother since Hikaru is basically a cat.

Honey-senpai: - If this boi could make cakes and pastries for a living without the threat of eating them all he would make the best sweets. He knows when something is just the right amount of sweet and when something is too sweet.

- He learned martial arts to be stronger because he knew that people would try to take advantage of him due to his childlike nature.

- Honey had a fight with his grandmother before she passed away over something completely selfish. That is why he is so attached to Usa-chan.

- Him and Mori were always really close, even as children and understand each other better than anybody.

- His constant animosity between him and his younger brother is because he feels like he is constantly being babied due to his personality.

Mori-senpai:

- Mori has autism. He is also selectively mute. I'm sorry I don't make the rules, the show itself gives them to me.

- Looks like a tough guy but in actuality would give the best hugs. I want a Mori hug. Haruhi probably gets the most Mori hugs because he is immensely protective over her.

- Aro-ace baby but gives the best platonic cuddles to any of the club members that are having parental issues.

- While he prefers spicy over sweet he does have a sweet tooth at random times of the day. Has been sighted at a local Cold Stone five minutes before closing in the dead of winter, while it's snowing outside by Kaoru and Kyoya while they were trying to find a place to get warm while out on a date.

- He actually didn't start his athletic endeavors with kendo, he started with ballet and gymnastics when he was really young.

And that's all my head-canons for the day! Happy anniversary to my favorite ridiculous throw everything against the wall and see what sticks to it romantic comedy. I hope that one day we will either get a season two or at this point it would be better to just do a hard reboot. Hoping that one day we will see our boys animated in high definition, even though I feel like an HD Tamaki would definitely kill me.

Happy ffwf!

First of all? Who said you weren't my fave fanfiction writer? I will fight them!

But also, I have many favorite fanfiction writers, and I am using this joke ffwf ask as an opportunity to promo some of them, so thank you!

One of the first ATLA fics I read when the renaissance happened last year was "Memento Mori" by doctorate_in_realology aka @hootyapologist . I read it even before we were friends and fangirled so hard when I found out lol. If you love Aang and aangst and Aang aangsting about his lost culture and family, this is the fic for you! A beautiful exploration of grief. And Jake's other ATLA fic is awesome and so are the snippets of Owl House fic and original work I have been privileged to see from. He's a great writer and my go-to for a good action sequence!

Anything by Tashii or @irresistible-revolution is some of the most gorgeous prose I have ever laid eyes on! Reading her fanfiction is one of the closest things to a religious experience I have ever had. She writes community, spirituality, and love in the realest way and has made me enjoy character and relationship dynamics I never thought I would through the way she makes emotions feel SO REAL.

I know this author doesn't want to be tagged about this fic anymore because they are tired (and they deserve! the fic is 188 chapters long!), but MsKingBean89, who wrote All the Young Dudes, will remain one of my most cherished writers of all time. I literally have this fic printed and bound into three volumes, that's how much I love it. Their writing is simultaneously funny, cynical, and simple. The effort they put into their research to give relevant and intersectional history to their fic is unmatched by any writer I have read before. They are an icon and probably are just some average joe somewhere in the UK just living life but with an army of stans on Tumblr losing their minds over this fic.

nerdylizj on AO3 wrote a beautiful Percabeth fic called "Transatlanticism" that left me breathless! To this day, they are the first writer who has handled Percy and Annabeth's post-Tartarus PTSD in a real and gritty way. Their fic is beautifully written and left me feeling broken and mended back together all at once. I plan I reading everything they have written in the PJO tag because I just love their take on the characters and their writing feels like a comforting hug in the throes of grief.

You actually recc'd this fic for me but Merprinces on AO3, who wrote "Perfect Rings of Saturn," has my whole heart. Their command of metaphor and allusion is unmatched by any fanfic writer I have ever read. The envy and adoration I feel simultaneously upon reading their words consumes me, and I cannot wait to see what else they write, because, by god, I have never felt so amazing as when I am reading their words.

Finally, YOU are my fave fanfic writer to collab with because I love how genuinely you think about how characters interact and the motivations of their actions. You are always so thoughtful about what is really driving a story: the characters and what they represent for our real, human experiences here in real life. Planning and talking about fanfiction with you always leaves me laughing and feeling so jazzed to continue participating in fandom, even when it's stressful or something has been disappointing.

Teen Wolf - *Stiles*. He is the beating heart of the show and the human touchstone in all the weirdness. I just. I LOVE STILES SO MUCH, OK? And those broad shoulders and giant dark eyes get me every time. *Peter Hale*. PETER HALE HOW DO I LOVE THEE LET ME COUNT THE WAYS. He had maybe the best character arc in the series. He goes from straight up psychopath to someone who might just accomplish some heroic acts at the end of it all, who can actually throw himself on the sword to sacrifice himself for others (but only because he can come back.) *Allison Argent*. She goes from this quiet, pretty sheltered rose to an avenging angel wielding a steel crossbow. She struggles between love and duty and in the end, chooses both. GONE TOO SOON, ALLY. I love them all tho and I could monologue for years about all of my bbs.

Marvel - *Thor*. Why are you like this? Why are you this magnificent warrior prince and this flawed broken man and everything in between? I’ve been a Thor stan since day one. But his humor and his grace always bring me back. He loves with all of his heart and his sly sense of timing never fails to make me laugh and he is literally the only being in the seven realms Loki gives a shit about other than himself because he is just that great. I just love him a lot. *Shuri*. THIS WOMAN. SHURI. Tech princess style icon genius child, I love you with all my heart. She saves everyone’s ass more times than I can count and she does it with a witty one-liner every time, looking fantastic. Never enough Shuri love in this world. *VALKYRIE*. The queen of my heart. Another glorious character arc and killer storyline. How she goes from flying warrior goddess to washed up mercenary and back again TO QUEEN OF ASGARD. Like. She is the wisecracking keeper of my soul and I love her x3000.

Pacific Rim - *Mako Mori* I mean. She is Mako Mori. She gave Lady Danger her heart and she used her beautiful brain and flawless technique to save the world. She was wholly herself, every step of the way and never lost what made her the person she was. She loved her family with all of her heart and is an incredible role model for women and humans and like Raleigh Becket’s puppy dog stare when he sees her? I GET THAT FEEL, RALEIGH. MAKO IS A QUEEN, LIVING ON A FARM WITH PUPPIES AND PLANTS AND HAPPY EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE. Stacker Pentecost. THE HERO WE DESERVE AND THE LEADER WE NEED. That calm, reassuring voice. The ability to make hard choices when we need them most. A father we should all be so lucky to have. Stacker gave everything and I hate that but it was his choice. It was everything he had worked for. He is forever the Marshal of my heart. *Herc Hansen* HA. as IF I could come this far and not pick Herc Hansen. I mean. He is so flawed and so rough around the edges and everything that a parent shouldn’t be but everything they can become too. Saving his wife or his son and picking his son and living with that resentment and hurt every day of his life. Being a decent person to humanity and a crap father to the only blood he has left. AND THEN THE CHARACTER GROWTH, PEOPLE. “That’s my son. MY SON.” Just. Watch the scene with Herc in LOCCENT at the final battle of the breach. Watch from Chuck saying goodbye until the end. TALK. ABOUT. THE. FULL RANGE OF HUMAN EMOTION. So, so good.

y’all didn’t ask for it so here it is! my Definitive Unspoiled Ranking of these cute castaways and how i think they’ll all do (really just posting this in case i’m right so i can go back and say i told u so)

20. debbie wanner - i love her but i just think she’s gonna be in trouble :/ however if she makes it deep i will be Thrilled

19. ciera eastin - y’all better make big moves tm

18. troyzan roberts - just. keep it. i can’t.

17. tony vlachos - i want TeamTV to go far with all my heart but it’s not realistic. that being said i think he’s smart enough to survive at least a few rounds. do i still stan? always.

16. jeff varner - dad, but he needs to just chill

15. brad culpepper - yeah no thanks

14. sandra diaz-twine - nnnnnnnnn i really do want her to win again so bad but these freaques better be smart enough to not let her get to merge honslee

13. cirie fields - a goddess, she will still make us proud

12. sarah lacina - to be tbh? i think sarah could really go either way in this game. she has the potential to be really good and surprise everyone imo but there’s also a big possibility she’ll flop again. i think her reputation going into this season is one of the most beneficial, though.

11. james thomas - i don’t even wanna talk abt this because i can hear mj whispering in my ear about his tummy

10. caleb - hard pass but unfortunately i don’t think anyone will come for him as early as they should

9. andrea - oh hey queen! i don’t see people letting her get too close to the end but i feel pretty confident about her going deep once again unless she fucks up early on

8. ozzy lusth - yeah it really is annoying that this dude gonna get to run all over that island again but what can you do

7. zeke smith - KING!!!! ugh i want him to win so bad but i think he’s likely to make problems for himself again and play a lil too hard and visible again and give a kickass jury speech again. love.

6. malcom freberg - i’m not a huge malcolm fan, sorry, i’m just not. with that being said, he’s a very solid player and he is definitely gonna do well and i’m pretty okay with that

5. tai trang - ughhhhhhh tai you let me down Hard last time. but who’s voting out tai realistically?

4. hali ford - THE second coming of kelley wentworth? perhaps. okay, probably not. still an icon.

3. aubry bracco - aubrysus is gonna come and do THAT again this season mark my words!!!!
