Who is the voice of the female Deputy?
When I saw this question, I decided to try to find an answer.
I looked up all the actors listed in the credits, listened to their voices (in interviews, demo reels, or other videos), and… I’m still not sure who played the female Deputy.
While I usually find it relatively easy to recognize voice actors in French, my native language, it turns out that’s much harder for me to do in English. Also, it doesn’t help that they’re usually very good at changing their voice/accent and that, in real life, most of them don’t sound like the characters they play.
I still believe the person who played the female Deputy is also “Cult Follower Female 5” (CFF5), but it seems to me the actor used a different accent and tone so the cultist sounds a bit “villainous”. In any case, I didn’t find anyone that sounded exactly like the two characters…
According to my ears, though, the female Deputy and the female Captain from New Dawn have the same voice. Outside of cutscenes, the Deputy has 314 lines in Far Cry 5 (which you can listen to here, here, here, here, and here) and the audio files were all reused for the Captain. In cutscenes, so the “lines” that were specifically recorded for New Dawn, the character sounds exactly the same to me, which means the voice actor must have worked on both games.
I looked at the names that appeared in the credits of the two games and narrowed the list down to the 15 (+1; see below) likeliest candidates, so here are the people who, in my opinion, could potentially be the voice of the female Deputy, as well as, when the information was available, either in the game or on IMDb, which character(s) they played:
Claire Armstrong
Kailea Banka
Carolina Bartczak (Cult Follower in FC5; apparently not in FCND, but you never know)
Kimberly D. Brooks (Gun for Hire)
Nicki Burke (Cult Follower in FC5, Selene in FCND)
Lucinda Davis
Stacey DePass (Nana in FCND)
Amber Goldfarb (voice of Faith’s Priestesses, “Cult Follower Female 3”, and, I believe, Rae-Rae)*
Julianne Jain
Mara Junot (Sherri Woodhouse, “Civilian Female 6”)
Helen King
Erica Linbeck (voice of Anne, but also this and this)
Cynthia Kaye McWilliams (Resistance Soldier)
Debra Wilson
Kim Yarborough
Mayko Nguyen, who plays Kim Rye, was credited a second time as a “voice talent” in Far Cry 5, which implies she may have also played one of several NPC. Since she worked on New Dawn, she too could be the female Deputy’s voice.
Again, English isn’t my first language, and after spending two days listening to all those voices, everyone started to sound the same to me :’) If you’re a native English speaker and/or have a great ear, though, maybe you’ll be able to more easily solve the mystery! We can do it!
*IMDb says Amber Goldfarb played “Noodle’s owner” (the woman who called Ms. Mable for her pet snake) but the files tell me the voice is actually “Civilian Female 6”, so Mara Junot.
And under the cut, just in case, I included all the other female voices who appear in the credits.
FAR CRY 5
MAIN CAST Beryl Bain (Tracey Lader) Sarah Booth (Tammy Barnes and, according to IMDb, a “Civilian”) Luisa D’Oliveira (Deputy Joey Hudson) Jenessa Grant (Faith Seed) Debra McGrath (Nancy) Tasya Teles (Mary May Fairgrave)
VOICE TALENTS Carolina Bartczak (Cult Follower) Lauren Jackson (Skylar Kohrs) Erin Mathews Julie Nathanson (Jess Black) Kristen Peace Murry Peeters (Grace Armstrong) Claire Rankin Cara Ricketts (Dr. Sarah Perkins in FC5, Mickey in FCND) Charlotte Rogers Paula Shaw (Ms. Wilhelmina Mable) Jane Wheeler (Adelaide Drubman)
PERFORMERS (I’m not sure they recorded voices and they apparently didn’t work on FCND) Michela Cannon Roanna Cochrane (Cult Follower) Athena Karkanis Karen Knox Janet Porter Melissa Robertson Alyssa Trask Brandi Marie Ward
FAR CRY NEW DAWN
MAIN CAST Reina Hardesty (Carmina Rye) Leslie Miller (Lou)
VOICE TALENTS Rylee Alazraqui Mary Faber (in the “Additional Thanks” section in the FC5 credits and in Lost on Mars according to IMDb) Camryn Jones Rachel Kimsey Melanie Minichino (Gina Guerra) Carolyn Ratteray Marisha Ray Nadia Verrucci
PERFORMANCE CAPTURE PERFORMERS (again, I don’t know if they recorded voices in FCND) Ava Augustin Tamara Brown Jenny Raven Ajanae Stephenson Lydia Zadel (also credited in the “Additional Thanks” section in FC5 and a voice in Lost on Mars according to IMDb)
Good luck!

Are there, by chance, voice files of the female deputy actually speaking, or a name of the voice actor who recorded the sound effects?
The female Deputy never speaks, but it sounds to me like she has the same voice actor as one of the cultists. You can find a transcript of most of her lines in this document if you search for “CULT_FOLLOWER_FEMALE_05”. One of the Angels might be played by the same person too.
I know Randy Yuen did motion capture for the Deputy in general, and maybe the male Deputy has his voice, but there is no information about who played “CULT_FOLLOWER_FEMALE_05” and the female Deputy…
The actor’s name must be in the credits, however, so probably one of these people:
VOICE TALENT Doug Abrahams Marty Adams Claire Armstrong Ted Atherton Kailea Banka Carolina Bartczak Lawrence Bayne Bruce Blain Jesse Bond Sarah Booth Marc-André Boulanger Wyatt Bowen Paul Braunstein Kimberly D. Brooks Jason Bryden Nicki Burke Mark Camacho Braeden Clarke Lucinda Davis Stacey DePass Bruce Edwards Jake Epstein Jonathan Goad Amber Goldfarb Alain Goulem Rob Greenway Gavin Hammon Ian Hanlin Lauren Jackson Julianne Jain Mara Junot Helen King Jameson Kraemer Gabe Kunda Tristan D. Lalla Erica Lindbeck Erin Mathews James Mathis III Jon McLaren Scott McNeil Cynthia Kaye McWilliams Chimwemwe Miller Julie Nathanson Mayko Nguyen Peter Outerbridge Lindsay Owen-Pierre Giles Panton Christopher Parson Kristen Peace Murry Peeters Simon Lee Phillips Geoffrey Pounsett Claire Rankin David Richmond-Peck Cara Ricketts Kyle Rideout Charlotte Rogers Paula Shaw Jesse Sherman Ivan Sherry Howard Siegel Jonathan Silver Dylan Taylor Jeff Teravainen Brett Watson Jane Wheeler Dan White Scott Whyte Debra Wilson Kim Yarbrough Farid Yazdani
And there is a little more information about who played who on IMDb.
This is all I know for the moment... but I hope it helps :)

I bet I could shit a better movie than anything Disney has put out in the past few years.
Only problem is I don't have the money to pull it off...
but it would be about an angel cast out of heaven because he called out his master for being abusive and misanthropic, and so this angel befriends humans, fights crime, and eventually fights his angel comrades in a gauntlet before killing a god with his bare hands...but this has severe, and I mean SEVERE consequences.
It would be 2D animated, stylish, have an edgy soundtrack comprised of gritty 2000s licensed music (Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Finger Eleven, Breaking Point, Drowning Pool, Disturbed, zebrahead, etc.) and voice talent from the 6ix (Scott McCord, Rob Tinkler, Lyon Smith, Martin Roach, Jamie Watson, Dan Petronijevic, Emilie-Claire Barlow, Katie Griffin, Stacey DePass, Julie Lemieux, Alyson Court, Tracy Ryan, Caroly Larson, etc.)
Unfortunately, it's never going to happen as long as I live...or as long as any of the voice actors I want to cast live....which is a shame because I would love to have them in an adult animated project for the first time in what seems like decades. (Yes, I know Fugget About It exists...)

Can you do a PokéMysticons remake of The Lost Scepter using these characters in replacement of the Vexicons?
Mimi (voiced by Julie Lemieux) - A twelve year old girl who is the leader of the preteens. Her best friend is Mallory.
Zoey (voiced by Barbara Mamabalo) - A twelve year old girl who is the combat artist of the preteens. Her best friend is Kasha.
Chloe (voiced by Stacey DePass) - A ten-year old girl who is the fearless mechanic of the preteens. Her best friend is Willa.
David (voiced by Ben Disken) - A ten-year old boy who is the practical joker of the preteens. His best friend is Digger.
Mallory (voiced by Amy Matysio)- The leader of the PokéVexicons and Mimi's best friend. She is a Glaceon who has light blue skin, ice-white spiked hair and a blue staff with a jagged dark blue crystal which emits strong beams of icy, snowy energy. She also has an animal sidekick named Deeva, a pale aqua blue fox-like creature (Choko's counterpart) that she wears around her neck like a muffler. Her bracer is a serpent/snake, which she attacks with by calling out "Ice Serpent, Strike!"; the same color as Zarya's blue Wolf Bracer. She is the most rebellious of all four PokéVexicons and enjoys a good fight.
Kasha (voiced by Bahia Watson) - An orange Luxray and Zoey's best friend. She can emit three blasts of red energy from her claws. She also has skates that enable her to levitate in midair at high speeds. Her animal bracer is a bright orange panther, from which her attack phrase is "Shadow Panther, Pounce." Ironically, she makes cat puns.
Digger (voiced by Charlie Adler) - A large and muscular Rhydon and David's best friend. Because his typing is rock/ground, Digger's armor is made of solid stone and he can turn into a huge boulder-like ball of rock to carry the other three PokéVexicons and his PokéMysticon friends inside. His animal bracer is pink basilisk, from which she calls out "Basilisk, Stampede!" as his attack phrase; same pink color as Emerald's Unicorn bracer. His weapon is a large hammer, from which he can project a strong blast of pink energy. Out of all four PokéVexicons, he is the most playful and somewhat loves to play tricks. Hence his name, Digger loves to dig tunnels underground and in "The Lost Two-Headed Dragonling", his favorite song is revealed to be Pop Goes the Weasel.
Willa (voiced by Stephany Seki) - A Gengar with small, purple bat wings and is Chloe's best friend. She is a big practical joker and enjoys playing tricks on her friends for the sake of internet fame.
That would be a lot of characters to deal with, as I would be dealing with the PokeMysticons and their teenage friends, as well as the PokeVexicons and their friends, not to mention Gawayne.

Leafie: A Hen into the Wild. J. Sabo’s 2 Cents.
After a short hiatus I have returned to watching movies and putting in my 2 cents on the matter. And I know what you’re thinking: “Oh, J., that sounds sooo tedious and hard, just to watch movies and write about them.” Anyways, we’re not here to talk about my personal pain and turmoil. We’re here to talk about Leafie—and her turmoil. Originally a novel of the same name, Leafie tells the story of an egg laying hen who dreams of a world outside of her status quo. When she is given that opportunity, Leafie’s world is becomes filled with wonder and miracles. But, like a coin, the other side of Leafie’s life is hardships. Join me as we descend into one of South Korea’s biggest animated features and feel the feels! Note: this will be different from my other 2 cents because I’ll be talking about the whole movie. So, FYI, spoilers ahead.
We start out with Leafie and her duties as an egg laying hen. Each day becomes the same: eat, eat some more, poop out eggs, rinse and repeat. In an attempt to stop, she fakes her own death by starving herself, guaranteeing her freedom in the form of a mass grave of other hens who have died. She is then attacked by the One-eyed Weasel but is saved by a mallard duck, who is given the name Wanderer by Leafie. When life at the farm proved fruitless, Leafie instead goes towards the forest to set up her new life. With the help of a real estate otter, whom Leafie calls Mayor Otter, Leafie gains a spot of her own right next to Wanderer and his mate. Tragedy strikes when the One-eyed Weasel takes the life of Wanderer’s mate, leaving him widowed and their egg motherless. Enter Leafie: she sees the egg and, always wanting to lay on her own eggs, sits on it, keeping the egg warm. Time passes by and Leafie becomes attached to the egg, referring to it as “her” baby. Wanderer, allowing her to tend to his egg, gives Leafie instructions to take his baby to the everglades when the egg hatches. Leafie and Wanderer share a moment, one singular comforting moment, and then he is killed by the One-eyed Weasel. But as a life is taken, a new life is born; the egg hatches and sees Leafie as his mother. Leafie already felt like a mother to the egg, but is in tears when the hatchling calls her “mamma”. Tears come from Leafie, (and from me).
So far, that is all I want to talk about. This movie, this great movie, is something that needs to be seen for oneself instead of read. I just gave you the first portion it if. But enough of the plot, as talking any more of it will spoil everything, let’s talk animation.
The animation in this flick was amazing! The bright colors of the summer season of the film showed how beautiful life can be. It was almost like the background was an expression of how Leafie felt. The summer showed her wide-eyed joyfulness of being free. As the story progresses and seasons change, so does Leafie. Most of the animators working on this film majored in painting, so that explains all of the wondrous backgrounds. And some of those animators have worked for Disney and Pixar. So right there says a lot about this film.
I also want to talk about some of the symbolism. Symbolism is open to interpretation so it’s different to each person. Here’s a few that I thought was significant to the story. First off is Leafie’s flower. From the moment she sets off on her own she finds a nice little flower. She sticks the flower in her tail and it becomes a part of her. The flower symbolizes her life. Leafie was going through a moment of rebirth, renewal, so the flower was bright and alive. Then the flower during winter; the flower starts to wither, such as all things in winter. Leafie’s time was up, and the flower symbolized that. Another great example of symbolism is Greenie’s ribbon around his foot. During a misadventure, Greenie had a ribbon tied around his foot.  The ribbon symbolizes Greenie’s bond with his mother. Then, towards the end of the film, Leafie manages to cut the ribbon down to size, symbolizes her separating herself from Greenie. All birds have to leave the nest sometime, and Leafie understood that, no matter how heartbreaking it was.
I can go on and on about how great this movie looks, but what got me was the leading lady herself, Leafie. Much like Mrs. Brisby from The Secret of NIMH, one singular moment overshadows her and that one moment is the highlight of the film. But that’s not what I remembered. Leafie has become my new favorite character. Why you might ask. It’s because she’s one of the most maternal characters I’ve ever seen. She wouldn’t hurt a soul, especially one that needs her the most. I fell in love with Leafie and her bond with her adopted son, Wanderer’s offspring Greenie. What she would do for Greenie earns her the title of Mother of the Year. Even when a certain scene, of which I will not spoil, required her attention, she did not abandon anyone. There is one scene, which I will keep to a minimum as much as possible, where Leafie has to make a decision only a mother would ever understand. It’s either her life, or the life of five innocents. As a mother that did everything she could for her son, she makes her decision.
I have nothing but love for Leafie! This is my new favorite film. Granted, I watched it all on YouTube but it was worth it! My advice to you is watch the Korean subtitled version first, and if so, go on to the English dub. I have a soft spot for the English version just because Stacey DePass voices Leafie. I love her… Go on, watch the movie! Make sure you bring tissues; you’ll be needing them.
--J. Sabo

On Wednesday I went to Format Masterclass with Hazel Marshall. This was a very useful masterclass because Hazel Marshall managed to explain basic rules of how to make a successful TV programme and pointed out what is trending at the moment. Information from this masterclass will be useful in any future role.  Within two hours she talked about:
what is format;
what is trending at the moment;
how to make a format;
how to build a structure of the programme;
how to set a tone;
how to set a world.
I am having a great time at the Glasgow Film Festival. During my first two shifts, I have met many people and the majority of them have been working at the festival for years and are industry professionals. Although, most of the volunteers are students that studies media or arts and this is a great opportunity for networking. My main responsibilities are to communicate with the festival audience, check tickets and help with any issues relating to screening and tickets. Ability to solve problems and good communication skills can be adapted to my future career path as a vision mixer or director. Moreover, being a volunteer gives me an opportunity to see how the festival is being organised from the 'inside', for example, how many people working in the festival and what kind of responsibilities they have.
On Thursday and Saturday I had my Glasgow Film Festival shifts.
This week I saw:
1. Mothers' Instinct (2018) Directed by Olivier Masset-Depasse [Film]. France, Belgium: Axia Films, Haut et Court, Karma Films, Indie Sales.
There are echoes of Hitchcock and Patricia Highsmith in this luscious, devilishly entertaining Belgium thriller. Suburban neighbours Alice (Veerle Baetens) and Celine (Anne Coesens) are the very best of friends. Their inseparable sons are more like brothers than chums. When tragedy strikes, they both struggle to accept the consequences. A once happy relationship is infected with suspicion, paranoia and resentment. Are their responses a natural reaction to trauma, or there something more sinister afoot? The suspense of finding out will take you to the edge of your seat...
2. The Pluto Moment (2018) Directed by Ming Zhang [Film]. China.
A meditative and metaphysical journey into the artist psyche, The Pluto Moment follows a film director’s search for inspiration deep in the mountains of southwest China. Inspired by the Chinese mourning song ”The Tale of Darkness”, Wang Zhun (Xuebing Wang) seeks to delve into rural China alongside his producer and photographer, only to find himself reflecting on his role in the world. Parallels to Fellini and Antonioni, as well as cinematography surpassed only by Wong Kar-Wai, make this a film to melt into, as well as one you won't forget.
3. Easy Rider (1969) Directed by Dennis Hopper [Film]. USA: Columbia Pictures.
Few films embody the changing times of 1960s America as sharply as Easy Rider. Dennis Hopper’s state of the nation road movie follows bikers Wyatt (Peter Fonda) and Billy (Hopper) as they head for the New Orleans Mardi Gras. Roaring down the highway, travelling light and sleeping rough, they encounter the jagged edges of a deeply divided country. A triumph of low-budget, independent filmmaking, Easy Rider also brought stardom and a first Oscar nomination to a scene-stealing Jack Nicholson as a disillusioned lawyer drawn to these irresistible free spirits.
4. Tell It to the Bees (2018) Directed by Annabel Jankel [Film]. United Kingdom: Vertigo Releasing, Good Deed Entertainment.
The Scotland of 1952 is no place for the faint-hearted. When mill worker Lydia (Holluday Grainger) is abandoned by her philandering husband, she struggles to pay the rent and feed herself and son Charlie (Gregor Selkirk). Local doctor Jean (Anna Paquin) is one of the few to help and a friendship develops that blossoms into a romance that will scandalise the town. Director Annabel Jankel has crafted a sensitive adaptation of the Fiona Shaw novel that captures oppressive small town life and the way love has the power to challenge narrow minds and deep-rooted prejudices.
‘Anti-Abortion Camp’ (2016) Brainwashing Stacey, Series 1, episode 2,  BBC Three Television, 24 January 2017. Available at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04fvzyv (Accessed: 23 February 2019).
Les Miserables (2018) Series 1, episode 5, BBC One Television, 27 January. Available at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0c1rcs2 (Accessed: 24 February 2019).
Les Miserables (2018) Series 1, episode 6, BBC One Television, 3 February. Available at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0c2ktn4 (Accessed: 24 February 2019).
The Greatest Dancer (2019) Series 1, episode 8, BBC One Television, 23 February. Available at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0002vxl (Accessed: 23 February 2019).
I also applied for PA/Runner and Assistant Coordinator position for an American reality show.
