I apologize for how messy and unorganized some of these doodles will get btw. Also for my handwriting. I had an ADHD induced fever dream one day and woke up to all of THIS mess.

ALSO SOME DISCLAIMERS PLEASE READ:

1. There is some blood below, nothing insanely graphic but jsyk.

2. There will be a doc attached to this post that goes VERY in depth about the story connected here. The images are included on that as well to make following along a bit easier. You don’t have to read it, but you will def get more context lol.

3. There is not a lot of Leosagi or Rise stuff in general here! There’s some mild things in the doc abt them, but most of this is about Yuichi/Miyamoto Usagi bc I love him, yet also love to traumatize him. Sorry king <3. AAAAND it’s a set up to something I have planned in the future that WILL be very leosagi/rise heavy.

Samurai Rabbit producer Ben Jones on Yuichi Usagi as a character, introducing him in this SDCC 2021 panel, and the different look of the show as they focused on a younger audience:

"So as Stan mentioned, our Usagi is much younger so as the show is told from his perspective we wanted to lighten the tone as well so mostly we drew from other sources like Hong Kong action comedy films like the films of Jackie Chan or Stephen Chow.

So you get things where you know - Usagi will be in the middle of a fight with Gen and he'll be perched on top of of his tetsubo."

"or you see the fun way he decides to ride his motorcycle - cuz he's a teenager and, you know- has no concept of mortality"

"so that just - ...that just seems like a great idea."

"[...] because it's an action comedy, we still have the stakes of an action movie but we have sort of you know, Usagi again not understanding mortality has a lighter reaction to it so he's pinned up to the tree by these knives and - he's just sort of like treating as a minor inconvenience."

I just think it's funny how this is one of his defining traits being introduced right off the bat in the 2021 SDCC panel, that lack of tact or fear in dangerous situations xD

GREASE IS THE WORD

you ever listen to a song and think ‘wow that’s so [ship]’

because that’s me with Summer Nights from Grease and Leosagi

so guess what that exploded into

they appear as humans at their school because their emblems (the turtles’ sash things and Usagi’s three dot circle) are cloaking brooches.

above images are based off of poses from the movie

otherwise they are their normal mutant/yokai selves!

this was just an idea that I had that I made a little sketch of and now we are here :) will probably make more of this kinda AU (is it an au??) in the future with references to other songs.
