Part of why I’m so defensive of the name Thistle is that I just think it fits him so perfectly and has some really interesting meaning you can assign to it outside of it just being his eye color.
Where I come from, thistles are considered a nuisance species. They have massive taproots that burrow deep underground, so once one pops up in your garden or yard you’re going to have a hell of a time removing it. The scotch thistle, like above, is considered invasive and listed as a noxious weed, and though there are many native thistle species they all tend to get lumped together by the average person.
And yet, thistles are incredibly important to their local ecosystem. They provide food and shelter for many species, especially pollinators, and are hardy survivalists. In some places they’re seen very favorably, such as being the symbol of Scotland. Their prickly nature means that few people are likely to mess with them, which makes them an effective symbol of resilience and protection.
But, despite this, to many they are just weeds. A nuisance, to be tolerated at best and exterminated with little prejudice if the wrong kind is in the wrong place to the point that it draws attention. Despite the fact that ultimately it is us humans who brought them to these new locations. I think there is no malice in simply trying to be alive.

I feel like if Dipper were ever reincarnated as a demon, he wouldn't fit in super well with the others. Yes, he's been raised to vie for power and step on everyone in his way using whatever means is necessary - it's the same toxic bizz as when he was a human, appealing to gender norms. He's tougher, scarier, more powerful (than ordinary humans, that is), but when it comes to asserting control - being Evil - he doesn't have it in him. Given enough time, I think he'd grow pretty vocal about leaving living things alone. NOT torturing organisms for the hell of it, or stealing people's souls, or conquering planets. Sure, he's a demon. That's no excuse to be a MONSTER.
It's a VERY unpopular opinion amongst neighboring demons, and rumor spreads fast about the Goody Two-Shoed Activist imp raining on everyone's blood-splattered parade, so much so that it makes it to Bill, who's immediately intrigued. Call it intuition, but only one soul's capable of overriding goddamn demon nature for some preachy bullshit about "Doing Good." Lucky for him, demons occupy the same plane of existence, so all it really takes to verify the guy is a snap of his fingers, and POOF! He's floating right next to him. Sure enough, Dipper's fashioned himself a new and improved demonic form, and it is lovely!
No one likes Dipper's kumbaya "Can't We All Just Get Along" ideology, but Bill's almost instantly smitten with the guy, whoever he is, so he's gotta be at least somewhat powerful. Demons take notice when the all-powerful Bill Cipher starts lending his time (and magic?) to some low-leveler like Dipper. Is he being blackmailed? Are they working together? No. Not possible. Bill doesn't "work" with anyone, save for whatever human catches his eye every few decades. Doesn't look to be doing him any benefit, either. The opposite, even. Lending power to a saint like Dipper only makes it harder to cause chaos, after all. Why would he actively go against his OWN best interest to cater some imp's? It's almost like he's. He's.
A henchmen.
(Bill's also 30% more affectionate the first month they reunite, because he still can't believe that his adorable little human husband came back as the same SPECIES as him! He'd never complain over having a sweet human to squeeze, but one with teeth and claws and cute pointy ears doesn't hurt).

I know Cybertronians have a whole religion and stuff and everyone uses he/him but I would like to think that maybe they would use she/her for things they can’t explain as well.
I think they’d call space she or her. Because she’s desolate, but she’s also provided them sanctuary in a war that never ended, she was their way of transport for safety, and I think they might describe Space in much the same way one might describe the sea: Beautiful and full of life when you know where to look, but unforgiving and relentless. Cybertronians don’t die to space the same way an organic would, but I’d imagine it’s still cold and their bodies still need to undergo certain changes so they can handle the eerie quietness and the frigid cold and the nothingness. I think Cybertronians might describe a star or a supernova as she/her, too, and maybe even a ship they find dear to them. The Lost Light is a she, as is The Nemesis, as is the arc. These are concepts I always try to merge onto my fics but I think outright talking about them instead of putting it in a 2k word ramble is good, too. See if people share my vision

so around a year ago, i ran a survey over people's headcanons for different dream smp characters, found here [link]! since it's been a full year, i wanted to run it again to see how/if fanon opinion has changed!
the form itself has changed a bit since last time, adding popular responses from the original as well as an additional slot for you to ramble about your favorite non-pictured blorbo. i'll close it when i feel enough responses have been given, but i'll be sure to give a heads-up beforehand!

underrated genre of post is when the convex bloggers post one of the most insanely specific images you've ever seen in a meme template you've never seen before in your life, with a clip attached to it. And you go into it like surely not; surely this random video clip of a conversation can't be that specific and capture all of these extremely disparate elements. And you watch the clip - it's from like season 6 or whatever when convex was big - and it illustrates the theme or emotion displayed in the accompanying image perfectly. It's never a normal human emotion and it's always convex and it gets me every time

a vex, a watcher, a demon, a vampire, and a moth person enter a bar. inexplicably, they're all riding horses painted to look like race cars. they play level up by jono and tell the bartender and patrons to "buy at boatem", then leave without buying any drinks. the bartender finds out later that there are several bottles missing, a piece of paper reading "I O U" in their place

Scrolling through OC ask memes is very funny sometimes because a good handful of them have questions that... we don't think apply terribly well.
Yeah, they're a bug, tattoos are a bit complicated. They can't swim because they're an insect. Their ancestry is Cricket and their blood type is green. They don't know what a car is.

Continuing to be back on my bullshit, I'm rounding out the year with the next installment of my Blue Beetle au nonsense or.
AKA @wazzappp 's Blue Beetle headcanons give me life and I'm yoinking them because. Everyone deserves a little body horror. As a treat.
(Well. Except for Oo'Li, by virtue of being the type of alien (yk more or less) that the scarabs are using for that sweet sweet basic DNA template)
Anyway, following my timeline of Jaime ending up with his second 'upgrade' after the reboot re: Khaji Da's last ditch effort to keep him from smashing into the ground of terminal velocity, Xiomara and Roma end up more buggified after their altercation with the Crimson Scarab in issue...2? I think, when their powers get drained, in the same vein of their scarabs getting inventive with ways for their hosts to defend themselves in power drain scenarios.
In keeping with their power-sets/specialities, Roma ends up with a scorpion-esque tail (yes ik that's not an insect but if she can manifest tentacles Im saying it counts) and retractable claws, while Xiomara has fully armored hands/gauntlets and extra insectoid legs

I'll be honest, having seen a lot of the boil over, I think the thing that keeps catching a particular subgroup up about the finale is that the finale unequivocally says two things:
c!Dream was not always this way, he was at one point, just a 20 something year old running around in fields with his friends.
c!Dream was, and still is, unmistakably and indisputably human.
I feel like these two facts, being presented in such a way that there's no way for it to be misunderstood, are sticking points for that group because it forces an understanding that they have been actively been working against.
c!Dream did horrible things, but he was still human. He was human the entire time. He wasn't born evil, he wasn't a one-dimensional purely malicious villain that existed only to fill a role. He was human. He was human, and he did horrible things, and those horrible things did not negate his humanity. c!Dream was a human, and he was hurt, and he handled that hurt poorly, and he hurt people as a result. He wasn't always this way, he ended up this way because of how he was hurt and the poor choices he made to handle that hurt.
It's vicious towards people who've been stuck on this idea that c!Dream is inhuman, that's he's a monster, that he was always selfish, evil, "the problem". Because they need that simplicity in a narrative and can't handle the implication that anyone can end up being horrible. That there isn't a neat little line between good people and bad people, and that anyone can both be hurt and hurt others.
c!Dream is an ugly, vicious reflection of what someone can become when they believe their goal is worthwhile and they don't care if what they're doing is wrong. He is though, above all else, a human. Just a person. Who was hurt, and made bad choices. Nothing more, nothing less. Familiar and terrifying.
I feel like there's a certain group out there that absolutely cannot stand this idea that anyone can do horrible, irreparable damage, for much the same reason that some people don't like mirrors.
