Moon Tree

This one took me a while to work on; originally it started out as a sketch where I wanted to combine nature and space to create a surreal, fantasy image. I spent a lot of time finding the right colours as I wanted to keep it minimal and focus on the shapes of the rocks and branches.

Might return to this image one day as I still feel like something’s missing. Let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks!

Greenhouse Effect Coffeeshop is located directly on Nieuwmarkt Square. It is one of the city's top tourist destinations, dense with both historic buildings and trendy businesses. The greenhouse effect is actually just one of many coffeeshops directly on the square, which is arguably the prime real estate for such businesses. The shop was formerly located on Warmoestraat, and was attached to a small hotel. It was a popular place. With the change in rules in the Red Light District, however, the coffeeshop was forced to relocate. In the Nieuwmarkt, it now occupies the old location of Hill Street Blues Coffeeshop. Unfortunately the old hotel of RLD is now closed. Incidentally, the greenhouse effect is not affiliated with the Green House chain of coffeeshops in Amsterdam.

2. Coffeeshop Amsterdam

Coffeeshop Amsterdam (formerly known as Dumpking 2, still owned by the same owner) is as famous as it is popular across the region. Undoubtedly, this is partly due to its great music and atmosphere.

Coffeeshop Amsterdam offers an extremely varied non-smoking menu with great strains to suit any taste. The prices are reasonable, especially in terms of the high quality products served, and the Coffeeshop Amsterdam Specialty Cakes is considered by some to be the best in the city.

3. Tweed Kamer Coffeeshop

De Tweede Kamar is a coffeeshop that has its roots in the history of Dutch cannabis culture. Established in 1985, when Dutch cannabis regulations were fairly new to the world, the name 'tweed kammer' is a playful reference to the Dutch parliament, which has the same name.

De Tweede Kammer was the first coffeeshop to introduce weighing and packaging products in front of customers back in the day. This allowed customers to see, feel and smell the quality of goods in a sense of openness and transparency, which still serves as the philosophy of the shop.

4. Boerjongens

Boerejongens is a favorite among 'Amsterdamers'. They have four locations throughout Amsterdam and you may recognize their shops because of their classy interior with lots of marble, wood and brass golden details. Really different from the dark black coffeeshops in Amsterdam of the past.

You are greeted by a host with bowler hats (they've gone for that extreme blinding look) and trained staff to assist you in choosing their products. Boerejongens sells some of the best weed, hash and space cakes (called Spacetree, like a pastry, get it?) for a reasonable price in Amsterdam.

There are so many different types of weed on their weed menu and they have some great Amsterdam genetics hash!

5. Johnny

Coffeeshop Johnny is located in Amsterdam's Jordan Quarter, and was established back in 1991. Started as a hobby by its owners, it has now grown into a full-fledged business.

The staff are very passionate about this magical plant, and they will meet all of your needs and questions. Inside, they have a digital screen showing all the different types of weed and hash and everything in between, from grinders and pipes to general merchandise.

The Internet Wonders if Jack Black Could Replace Marvel Star Chris Pratt in Everything

It’s been, ohh, maybe a week tops since Twitter last spent a solid amount of time dunking on Chris Pratt, but in the latest round of “wailing on Chris Pratt for [insert valid and not-so-valid reasons]” the platform’s users have posited that Pratt could easily be replaced by School of Rock star Jack Black in any role he’s inhabited to date. Why? Well, why not? It’s Twitter.

The wealthy Pratt, who married Arnie’s daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019, has starred in a string of major blockbusters, including Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Endgame, Jurassic World and The Lego Movie, and has also been a perceived thorn in the internet’s backside for a while. Things really stepped up a gear last February, though, when Umbrella Academy actor Elliot Page referred to the Christian church Pratt attends as “infamously anti-LGBTQ”, a claim that Pratt refuted, saying “nothing could be further from the truth.”

The religious actor has also been accused of being a right-wing Trump supporter. For his part, Pratt has neither confirmed or denied it, and he was listed as having donated money to Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, but by 2017 he appeared to have become somewhat apolitical, telling People of his frustrations that “You’re either the red state or the blue state, the left or the right. Not everything is politics. And maybe that’s something I’d want to help bridge, because I don’t feel represented by either side.”

He added “I don’t feel we have to be at war with each other like we are, and it’s just getting worse.”

Back in October, when the “Worst Chris” discourse was once again running rampant online, Vulture put out an opinion piece on just how tired they thought the whole thing had become, with contributor Rebecca Alter writing “It’s great that Chris Evans is an outspoken Democrat, but the job of all of these guys is to be a himbo onscreen and a millionaire off, and it’s weird to want more from them instead of amplifying the voices of actual activists who do politics as their job.”

If Pratt or anyone sick of the Chriscourse had investigated the reasons he was trending on Twitter this week, they certainly wouldn’t have found much of it to be an incoming Band-Aid to either America’s political divide or Pratt’s ongoing social media woes, though honestly it’s kinda great to see how much love people have for Jack Black.

The new barrage of Chris Pratt hate/Jack Black love was inevitably met with a mix of bemusement and scorn by people who are just plain sick of it all.

Can I just say that Chris Pratt does not deserve to be cancelled at all? Sure, the church he attends is homophobic, but that doesn't make him a bad person. He's a really chill, kind dude who just needs to be educated on why his church's beliefs are harmful.
