I'm scrolling through some ambient noises to help me write, and it got me thinking. Y'know those white noise machines people use for sleeping?
Do you think there's a very specific brand marketed at Gothamites?

Okay. So, today I read The Sound Machine by Roald Dahl because someone suggested it to me irl. What they forgot to specify is that this story is science fiction and existential horror rolled into one fucked up dough. I think it manages to do the entire "effect of the eldritch abominations on human psyche" very well. And it features a mad(ish) scientist whom I low-key headcanon as ADHD. And it is so normal until that one exact moment when it is not. Anyway, this is me requesting everyone reading this to go read The Sound Machine. I promise you that it will not disappoint.
