I was tagged by @dungeons-and-dragon-age and @shivunin to create my OCs in this picrew, and their swords in this picrew! Thank you both - this was super fun! I love a good item picrew :3
these are definitely a mix of Actual Swords and Vibes, even for the OCs who actually use swords
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Siobhan Hawke - no actual sword use, completely vibes, I just love her so much I couldn't leave her out. All black for Kirkwall, dripping with blood and chains for Symbolism and more Kirkwall
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nika Brosca - a dual wielder, so actual sword use! But the design, particularly the glowy lyrium blade, is all vibes. The hilt wrapped up in fabric with scraps hanging off the end is allllll dust town though. My scrappy Carta girl :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ariya Tabris - sword use Optional™️, only when she can't get her hands on proper daggers or an axe, until she has Vigilance. The design here is mostly vibes, especially the black vines up the blade for the Blight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ciel Andras - (everyone: Andras? me: the orlesian warden commander that bioware forgot ;-;) my Actual Sword user, a sword and board warrior! The sword here is literal, silverite for the blade and blue on the hilt and grip for the Wardens. Plus the hilt that I thought was close enough to Wing Imagery without being butterfly wings, and the black veins in the blade for, you guessed it, Blight Symbolism.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ember Cousland - another dual wield sword user (sensing a type here hmmmm) and it's definitely with her family's sword no I don't care that the stats bottom out so fast. The hilt design here is to represent that, with the mirrored wheat design of the Cousland heraldry, but the on-fire blade is 100% vibes, a representation of her vengeance against the Howes.
tagging forward to: @leggywillow | @exalted-dawn | @rosella-writes | @wheat-and-wheat-by-products | @midmorninggrey |
and @thiefbird have fun friends!!

Have you ever made a post explaining your thoughts on Flemeth? If so, sorry I couln't find it, but if not, what do you think of her?
Yeah, let's talk about Flemeth.
Flemeth was a horribly abusive mother to Morrigan.
Flemeth speaks of and to Morrigan as if she has been a burden; an unwanted pest she is glad to be rid of.
When a female mage warden asks about magic:
Flemeth: Not that I would mind a replacement daughter to order around
Morrigan: Believe me, you do not want that.
When the warden asks Flemeth what she will do when they leave:
Warden: What will you do once we're gone?
Flemeth: (Snort) Have a moment's peace, for once.
Morrigan: I hear the peace of the grave is eternal.
Flemeth: This is the thanks I get for feeding you and putting up with you for this long? Bah! May your child one day treat you the same.
Morrigan: Feed me, she says. Without me, I swear she shall be caked in dirt and eating tree bark inside of a month.
When the warden presents Morrigan with a replica of this mirror, Morrigan is taken back, asking what the warden wants. She doesn’t know how to accept a gift.
Morrigan: It is incredible that you found one so like it. I am uncertain what to say. You must wish something in return, certainly.
Warden: Don't be ridiculous. It's a gift, Morrigan.
Morrigan: You say that as if I should be accustomed to such a thing. I have... never received a gift, not one which did not come at a price.
Morrigan: I suppose I should say thank you. For the gift. 'Tis… most thoughtful, truly.
In Morrigan’s Fade nightmare, she is with her mother, except she doesn’t believe the spirit posing as Flemeth because it is too benign.
Spirit!Flemeth: I am your mother... do you not love me?
Morrigan: You are as much my mother as my little finger, right here, is the queen of Ferelden. I know you, fade spirit, you cannot fool me.
Spirit!Flemeth: Are you more clever than your own dear mother? Surely such pride must be punished!
Spirit!Flemeth: (Slaps Morrigan)
Spirit!Flemeth: There! That is for not showing respect!
Morrigan: That is far more like it, but it is too little too late, spirit.
Morrigan getting slapped across the face is more familiar to her than Flemeth asking if she loves her.
When Brosca meets their own abusive mother again, Morrigan comments "We have more in common than I thought…"
We spend a lot of time getting to know Morrigan in DA:O, and a lot of that is breaking through the trauma and negligence she suffered under Flemeth's care. And no matter how mystical and vivacious Flemeth is portrayed as in the following two games, that doesn't change. Morrigan still remembers, and was literally willing to give up her life before seeing her son suffer the same fate in DA:I. "Do whatever you wish. Take over my body now if you must, but Kieran will be free of your clutches. I am many things, but I will not be the mother you were to me," she says, in one of the most haunting voice acting moments in the entire game. And how does Flemeth respond to Morrigan? With a simple frown, like she's disappointed that Morrigan feels that way.
It irks me enough that Flemeth, a human, was apparently so in need of vengeance more than any elven person in Thedas that Mythal chose her to store herself in. That's a strange choice for the writers to make all on its own. But what makes it so much worse, is that Mythal is the goddess of motherhood and justice. So now we have the goddess of motherhood and justice inside an abusive mother, in a way that Flemeth describes as her being and Mythal's being blended to a point where you could not distinguish them easily, similar to Anders being possessed by Justice. What the absolute fucking fuck were the writers thinking with that???
Flemeth's backstory is a tragic one, yes. But that does not excuse her own actions in any way. I personally know a thing or two about feeling bad for what happened to your parent while also resenting them for the abuse they put on you at the same time.

I wanna ask that question right back! Which of your OCs is most like you? I'm curious!
I thought about this question for like an hour while trying to sleep last night, and all I'll say is don't do deep self reflection exercises in the dark before bed kids
Also this got kinda long, ops 🙈
Much like you (and I'm sure everyone else) I put pieces of myself into all my OCs, intentionally or otherwise, and so they all have bits of me.
I don't know if it's because he's so fresh in my mind, or if it's because I didn't have too much of a plan going in so he just became a natural reflection of me, but Jay is really high up there on the list.
Loud, talkative, jovial, happiest when he's of help to others, solution oriented and takes most unforeseen problems in his stride. But he's also incredibly self-conscious, and terrified of taking up space or being a bother to someone else, often forgoing his own needs bc it's not THAT important, it's fine. Sorry for existing.
He naturally gravitates towards other people's problems and a wish to help them (whether that's welcome or not), but prefers to stick his head in the sand when it comes to dealing with his own shit. When things get bad emotionally he goes into himself, and can become borderline dissociative, just lost to the void.
He's extremely good at finding stuff other people need but can't find, feeding into this need to be helpful. He's bit of a control freak and perfectionist too, and has to stop himself and call it good enough or he'll go on forever (wow look how topical)
I could honestly keep going but this is long enough as it is 🙈 I have no idea how we ended up here but I guess he's my emotional support self-insert blorbo now, bye.
Still, he's his own character. He's much better with people than I am, especially children, and doesn't have Retsuko-levels of rage bubbling right under the surface at all times. He's more manipulative and mischievous, and small grievances bounce off him easier. I only ignore my problems until I have to deal with them, he actively runs away from his. He's more extroverted than me, and doesn't mind big crowds, while they're the bane of my existence. And so on and so forth.
ANYWAYS this somehow turned into the a Jay post, I'm sorry lmao. His character wasn't really planned at all, I just let him grow naturally from the way I played (kinda like with you and your Aeducan), and once I took a step back and looked at him I was like "hold on a minute, this is just me if I was cool and had extra trauma, what the fuck".
Honorable mentions of pillars of my own personality shoved into other characters go to;
Courier May (F3/NV) - So damn angry all the time about everything, much of it useless and a waste of energy, but it's really hard to turn it off.
Nimri Brosca DA:O) - This applied more to younger me, but I can get REALLY ride or die for someone, like to the point where it becomes a major character flaw.
Pomona Hawke (DA2) - Did you eat? Yes? Are you sure? Are you wearing enough layers? When did you last apply sunscreen? Did you remember to drink enough today? [The mother hen questions goes on for another 5 minutes]. Also everything is always my fault somehow.
Sam Jones (VtM:B) - Just absolutely insufferable about social justice, and the other half of my rage that's an answer to injustice. You've not seen me angry until I've had a whiff of something cruelly unfair.
And because I feel like I've been too negative here;
Ridley (Coral Island) - Hard-working and generous :)c

Sorry sorry not sure if you've mentioned this in the false paragon stuff but does varric ever meet mr. Warden Kristoff Doktor?
I haven't mentioned it yet but I've been meaning to!!!
They only interact on-screen if you have Varric in your party during the penultimate main story quest The Ancestors Beckon. This is the quest where you choose to either stop Gennick from killing Brosca or allow her to die. It is also the only quest involving Warden Kristoff that you can have Varric in the party for. In all the other ones Varric is always unavailable for some increasingly specific and oddly convenient reason, and this is played partially for humor. You also have a conversation with Kristoff early on where he lets slip that they know each other, but also makes it clear they parted on bad terms (<- intentionally vague) and that it's best if Varric doesn't know that he's here.
Set-up aside, the issue of Warden Kristoff's identity is not addressed directly until the plot demands it to be at the end of the quest. Varric clearly recognizes him and is absolutely pissed that he's here, but doesn't out him to the Inquisitor, and refuses to talk about it with them if asked. Warden Kristoff also brushes you off if asked about what's going on with Varric, and basically just tells you that making sure the Warden-Commander is alright is his top priority, and that it should be yours too. Unlike Varric, he seems more guilty & uncomfortable than angry.
(They have some tense party banter during the quest also, and once I get that all cleaned up I'll post it :3)
If they don't end up meeting in The Ancestors Beckon, Varric still becomes aware of his presence, and can be asked for his opinion on the Sit In Judgement quest about him regardless of what else happens in the previous quests, and heavily implies that they talked off-screen. Depending on factors, like Varric's affinity, Hawke's status, and the outcome of The Ancestors Beckon, it may be implied that this conversation gave Varric some closure, or that it just left him feeling worse. I'll post that dialogue too when I get around to editing it lol

hey! from the new ask game, 6, 14, 27 for Nat and Mal (and/or anyone else you'd like)! :3
[[question source]]
6. What would they think of each other's combat skills/techniques?
Not directly about skills, but about classes: Nat is a little jealous of Mal being a sword-and-shield warrior. They have similar backgrounds and worked in similar positions in the Carta, but Nat always needed to be able to hide or scrounge up new weapons, and it's a lot harder to steal sword and shield than little daggers and knives.
Malachite's never been very fast or light on her feet, so she's pretty impressed with all of the rogue skills, especially stealth and whirlwind - style techniques. She thinks Nat spends too much time tight with opponents, though.
Nat doesn't think as highly of Malachite's skills, and also would be absolutely FURIOUS with Malachite for taking the Templar specialization. Malachite can just wade into the fray, holler, and let people wail on her, and complete what she needs to in the battle. That's not skill, Nat thinks.
(Actually, fun timing on this because I'm just learning that Mal should just waltz into the middle of a fight and take over. I'm so used to running Nat, who can't body all the damage from a dragon for 4+ minutes of a fight. Also, just took the Templar spec for Malachite, not because it's the best for her - I think that would have been Champion - but because she is terrified of the Breach and of Cassandra/The Inquisition, and is hoping by playing into the Chantry she might gain favor & power over the rifts.)
27. What would their fears on the graves in the fade during Here Lies the Abyss be?
I'm not certain why right now - might get to think & expand later but _ (also I don't remember how the graves were specifically marked. been a minute)
Nat: Devotion
Malachite: Irrelevance
(And Freebies:)
Mar: Hunger
Miri: Power
14. If they'd been in each other's places, would they have made the same or different choices? And who would they have romanced, if anyone?
This one is Hard. It's going to be Long and lots of Rambly Thoughts, so it's last. With the implementation of 'shorten long posts' I no longer really use read-mores unless for fics. Sorry if that's a bother.
Let's look at Malachite Cadash, Grey Warden and Hero of Fereldan. I'm going to assume the timelines are still the same, they just get picked up at different times (and I'm using my adjusted timeline for years, because that's the one they live in).
She's 19, brand painted on her face to run some work down in Orzammar, when she gets caught up by the guards and rescued - conscripted - by Duncan. The specifics don't really matter here. She's from the surface; she understands surface politics well enough, and she didn't have her family pushing her to join the Wardens. Maybe her family doesn't even know.
That's an entirely different scenario.
Even in her 30s, Malachite is much more fear-driven than Nat, and much less driven to save everyone. She won't be making decisions based on compassion. She'll make her decisions based on what will take the least time and have the greatest effect. She's a surfacer, and that will change her decisions as well.
Best guesses? She'd kill Connor, likely kill Zathrian, and maybe recruit Loghain - depending on how scared she was and how much she trusted Alistair's abilities.
I'm not sure who she would romance - she romances Josie because Josie gives her something outside of her own fear to pin onto (if we're looking only at the characters thematically). Maybe Leliana, to be honest. At 19, she would probably take the dream at face value, and be able to be swayed to Andrastianism and thus not clash with Leli like she does in Inquisition, when she is resolute in the Stone.
And what about Nat Brosca, Herald of Andraste and Inquisitor?
She's 33. Something changed in her life that she lived this long. She would never have gone topside without Rica, and I don't think she could have hung on even until Endrin was born. So, let's say Rica's sponsor falls through. Their position in the Carta is tenuous at best at the start of the origin; it dissolves as soon as Bhelen backs out. They run.
Nat's still wrapped up in the Carta; she doesn't know another way to live. She can end up at the Conclave as Cadash normally does - or as part of another mercenary group. She has very little family to care for, compared to her own life. We can say Rica has a kid, a family. Nat's missing her Gwina - who is her driving force at this point in her own timeline. If she never leaves Rica and the Carta, Nat never gets to grow. Also, if she never carries children she never fulfills her cultural understanding as "woman" and would probably actually be a "man" (or another dwarven gender - lore theory is in the works). I'm still gonna use she/her here for Nat.
So, we're looking at a person who is centered around duty, who believes she needs to try to save everyone, but has been shown over and over again that she is not capable of it. She's dangerous, angry, stubborn, and has just been handed the most powerful object and title in the world.
Where Malachite tempers her decisions, trusts people to make their own decisions, and is always trying to play both sides as Inquisitor, Nat goes full despot. That's really what it is. She wants to save everyone and now she can.
She certainly doesn't try to disband the Inquisition. She probably goes for Cass as Divine, because Cass seems the most controllable. I'd wager she banishes the Wardens, and destroys every other army she gets the chance to (in the middle of a DAI playthru right now and don't remember exactly what choices). Her choice between Mages and Templars would be decided by her reading of Cullen and Solas. I wouldn't expect her to have interacted with mages much, and she would lean towards the controlling aspect of the Templars, but would be swayable either way.
In romances, Nat looks for lifelines - reasons to stay alive - and connection. She won't broker any attempts or feelings of being converted. Once she starts to heal, she looks for people who challenge her and have her back.
What would Nat, burned and damaged and controlling look for? Fight.
She would never feel satisfied with someone who wouldn't fight back to her, even if she thought she wanted someone to submit to her will. She wouldn't be able to stand Solas because he doesn't understand the fight, as evidenced by banter with Varric. I think Blackwall would anger her, but she wouldn't know why. Sera wouldn't be able to fight the way Nat wants, but would get herself punched in the face with a badly-timed prank.
I hesitate to say Nat would romance anyone, actually. The only options I could really see (of companions + advisors) would be hardened!Leliana or Iron Bull. She and Bull wouldn't be romantic, but they'd have good fun. Nat and Leliana would be crossing paths at their most destructive, but most compatible. It would be explosive but somewhat successful.

Another multiwarden worldstate post. Previously on! Duncan conscripted Rafael at Kinloch Hold and the two of them made for Orzammar where the other wardens, Alistair included, await Duncan's arrival.
It's about a (here I take some time to squint wearily at my old-ass travel time spreadsheets before giving up) fuck it, I dunno, it's about a ~several days~ trip from the shores of Lake Calenhad up through Gherlen's Pass to the gates of Orzammar, and since Rafael was up all night in the escape attempt and since Duncan had to drag him out of the Tower in the wee hours of the morning, and since he does not sleep well out on the road in the elements, he's absolutely dead on his feet for a few days.
They finally arrive (and Rafael is able to collapse in a bed in their spacious Diamond Quarter accommodations, thank the Maker) and find that Orzammar is making a big deal of their arrival, with a week's worth of Provings and other festivities on the docket before a joint venture into the Deep Roads. Several concurrent ventures, to be more precise, one of which will be lead by the ruling family's second child and only daughter.
Raf'll have his tits blown clean off with culture shock once he wakes up.
Proving Loyalties
Micah [Brosca], in her late 40s or early 50s, is Kalah's elder sister and Rica's aunt. She's been working for the Carta her whole life (while taking care of first her and Kalah's ailing parents and then, after that, her nieces). Her role in the Carta is as something of a fixer. She's smart, experienced, and can be trusted to operate under her own agency. She'd be on a level akin to Jarvia, if Beraht and Jarvia didn't kind of fucking hate her (and the dislike is entirely mutual).
With Rica beginning to work as a noble hunter and her youngest niece of a teenaged age where she too is looking into picking up Carta work, Micah is starting to worry for them. The girls are good and bright and want to contribute to the household and take some of the weight off of Micah's shoulders, but Micah doesn't want them to feel pressured into the sort of life that she's had to lead.
Her latest ongoing job has put her in charge of rigging the Provings for the Carta. In the process, she's been investing her own earnings, with an eye toward building a nest egg which would allow her to retire and still see the girls provided for. Jarvia catches wind of this and, taking offense and feeling threatened, sabotages her operation, forcing Micah into fighting in the provings herself to maintain the grift.
Quite dangerously for her, the Princess Aeducan has quite a penchant for battling in the Provings herself, and the bracket pits Micah against her. Micah DOES knock her flat on her ass. This might actually have saved her, in the end. When Micah's identity is revealed a few fights down the line, the powers that be see it prudent to sweep her under the rug rather than see her publically executed and draw further attention to the ignomious spectacle of a duster defeating a royal in combat, and so she is instead turned over to the Carta to quietly dispose of.
She, of course, refuses to go down quietly, and in the aftermath of her escape, Duncan steps in to recruit her. This is reluctantly allowed under the condition that the Wardens take her and leave the city IMMEDIATELY and not return.
The Wardens' preparations have all been made and Duncan wasn't too hot on the idea of wasting more time than necessary when a literal Blight is starting so he's like, okay, see ya, and they go ahead and head into the Deep Roads ahead of schedule. Damn. Sorry Raf in particular. The Deep Roads are definitely the wrong kind of culture shock for a baby mage fresh out of the Circle who just discovered the concept of parties.
So they go to make contact with the Legion of the Dead. But right before they go they send word ahead to Highever to update them on their timeline because, guess who also wants to host a Tournament in honor of the Wardens~~ A literal Blight is starting and everyone wants to throw parties, goddamn.
My first playthrough with an (intentional) Alistair romance, I happened to trigger Alistair's love confession with the rose when the party was standing around in the Deep Roads absolutely caked in darkspawn blood, and it was so funny that I'll never, ever let him live it down. So Alistair speedruns his bisexual awakening by falling head over heels in infatuation with Rafael immediately after meeting him while they're all fighting desperately for their lives in dank tunnels underground. Really, Alistair? Really. That's my son and he's a fucking mess, god bless.
A Noble Expedition
The festivities continue unabated but now they're all for the glory of Royal House Aeducan yay~~ Eydis Aeducan (late 20s) is, a huge bitch! High on her own farts, and absolutely fuming after the Proving situation. Let's just say that if Bhelen hadn't beat her to Trian and framed her for his death, she might very well have killed him herself. She strongly considered it, anyway. She's pompous and ruthless and very well acclimated to the bloodthirsty game of Orzammar politics.
Aeducan Thaig is, I don't want to pull up the spreadsheet again, it's not far, it's a couple days round trip, especially since they already sent the shitkickers in ahead of time to clear the way, and her triumphant return will kick off the final evening of glorious festivities. She's not about it. She doesn't want ~parties~, she wants to show up her shitheel brothers, secure her place as future Queen of Orzammar, and engage in w4w (warrior4warrior) fingering in the hot springs, in that order.
When she's exiled into the Deep Roads, she knows her only remote chances for survival are to either find and join the Legion of the Dead or find an exit to the surface, so she makes for the latter, based on her memory of the maps she studied prior to her expedition. This sets her on a converging path with the Wardens, who have wrapped up their business in the Deep Roads (Blight's started!) and are making their own way out, and she begrudgingly presents herself for recruitment. She's not hot on the idea but she's also not going to tag along in their wake for safety like some charity case, and she certainly can't go back to Orzammar. It's not like any of her other options on the (blech!) surface will be any better. And besides, she's a real catch.
When they do reach the surface it does take a gentle amount of time to coax the dwarves out under the open sky (it will be another week at the very least before a still seething Eydis even deigns to so much as look at Micah). Meanwhile Alistair and Rafael immediately collapse in the grass in open relief that they're not in some awful fucking darkspawn infested tunnels anymore. They're crying a little bit but in a very adult and manly way, it's fine.
Next up! A tourney at Highever, a wedding in Denerim, and a mystery in the Brecilian.

Fanfiction writing asks: 22, 24, 35, 45 please :)
thank you!
22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
For the most part, titles are the last thing I come up with. Sometimes I’ll get hit with a good one before/during writing, but like 85% of the time I have to sit and stare at the finished fic and wrack my brain over what to call it lol. My top methods for when I’m struggling to title something are song lyrics and puns!
24. How do you choose whose POV to write in?
It’s usually based on whose head I want to get into and who I think would have the most interesting perspective on the situation! I always do third person- nothing against reading first person, but I just cannot write in it
35. What’s your favorite fic you’ve posted?
I'm sorry but it’s honestly impossible to choose just one so you’re getting one from each of my top fandoms:
Pillars of Eternity: If The Heavens Ever Did Speak
In another world, Nona left Aedyr for the Dyrwood and was granted the power to change the world. But for all that changes, some things will always remain the same- and Nona Vercae will always, above all else, be loyal in her service to her Queen.
I had a lot fun writing that one because it was pretty different from stuff I’d done before, and all the dynamics at play here are just so intriguing to me. I love Nona a lot to begin with, and I love exploring a characters relationship with the gods in this type of setting, and I love how insanely flirty Woedica canonically is with a Woedican Watcher. I had to write fic about that, and even now it’s still one of my favs
Pathfinder: A Toast to the Luckless
Piper and Woljif reflect on tall tales and strange twists of fate. Wine is drunk. Backstories are shared. Candlesticks are stolen.
I just really really really love the friendship between Piper and Woljif. They are the definition of platonic soulmates and I love it. This was the first thing I really wrote about their friendship and I think it’s such a perfect snapshot of their dynamic
Dragon Age: Of Diamonds and Dust
Marja Aeducan and Darvis Brosca lead lives as different as one could possibly imagine. Marja Aeducan, a member of the nobility and second in line for the throne, has spent her life maneuvering the dangerous political machinations of the Diamond Quarter. Meanwhile, Darvis Brosca, a Casteless dwarf rejected by society, does whatever it takes to survive on the streets of Dust Town.
When a Grey Warden arrives in Orzammar, the lives of Marja and Darvis are forever changed. Driven from the city by misfortune and betrayal, the two must join the ranks of the Wardens in order to save their own lives. But the surface has far greater dangers than they realize. The noble and the thief will need to stand together if they're going to fight against the oncoming Blight, the brewing civil war, and the strange surface malady called "sunburn".
Ok maybe I should change my answer to that other question because this might be my most self indulgent fic. It’s by far the longest thing I’ve ever done, it’s still in progress, and it’s where I put all my Warden Thoughts (of which I have many). Marja and Darvis are my Original Blorbos and even after all this time I have a lot of fondness for their story
45. What genre/trope do you tend to write the most?
Mostly fantasy as far as general genre goes! More specifically, I love stories that focus on really strong friendships, and I’m always a sucker for Angst with a Happy Ending

Got tagged again by @dungeons-and-dragon-age, thank youuu! :3 (and heck, sorry it took ten million years to post this, it's been in my drafts for ages)
Hmm there are probaby a few things i would edit or simplify by now, but hey, a fun thing is that i had actually drawn these just for fun waaay before you tagged me :D
More info under the cut ~
Arla Lavellan
Now that i think of it, i think she could be even more strict about touch in general, especially with strangers, or if there would be an option here with "umm okay then, but why tho?" that would probably be the most accurate for most (friendly) touch for her. Like... "okay, if you absolutely need to touch me then okay but WHY do you need to do that?" Except with Josie ofc, they cuddle a lot.
Also Arla loves it when someone wants to do her hair!! Or just brush it! Or whatever! Try different braids! Or just pet her hair! It's nice!
Iria Cadash
Don't touch her toes. Otherwise I think she's the most touchyfeely of them all, although Miero is the most hugger (yes that is correct english now fight me xddd). And yeah, Iria is also the only one likely of these four to ever have had a one night stand (before meeting Sera). I'm not sure if she has or hasn't really, but yeah, she could at least consider it possible more than the other three characters here. That's why there's "ask" and not a clear "no" for her even with strangers. (Answer might still be no, tho, but you're welcome to ask!)
And yes, she counts the people of Skyhold as her family now. She hasn't been in any contact with her parents since they threw her out of their home years ago, and she wouldn't count them in for a question like this. And yes, she would just sit down at people's feet there like HEY I HAVE SORE NECK AND SHOULDERS WOULD YOU FUCKING MIND HELPING OUT A LITTLE I'M CONSTANTLY IN SO MUCH PAIN and then expect someone to massage her shoulders for a while as she makes happy ow-sounds.
And yeah, her Mayhem Squad aka best friends includes Bull, Dorian, Harding and ofc Sera (who is also her partner! Just fyi for all of you who didn't know it already xd) and I like to headcanon that she's pretty much fine with any amount of cuddling with all of them.
Miero Brosca
Hug him. Please. Loves to hug people and to hold hands, holding friends in general and just chilling, friends leaning on his shoulders and warm embraces and such is all lovely to him. But any touch with clearly sexual vibes makes him uncomfortable, and he will probably politely ask you to stop. But if nothing sexual is implied or it's been agreed mutually that there are no such desires between you and him, you could basically lie on him like a cat and he'd be all happy with it and like rub your back or pet your hair or something.
Sofie Hawke
Don't touch her without her explicit permission. She will tell you if she's fine with you touching her, but otherwise you should expect that she doesn't want to be touched at all. Most probably she won't even shake your hand and will dodge out of the way if you try to touch her. If she's comfortable with it, she might touch you tho, like pat you on a shoulder or initiate a fist bump or a high five or other casual stuff like that.
With her closest friends like Rene (@artist-rat's Hawke and so Sofie's older sibling and role model) and Varric, and mmmmaybe Fenris too i hope, that's a whole another story. With them she loves hugs and also sits in their laps or even falls asleep there. But i think even with them, she's like a cat; only accepts the affection when she feels like she's free to leave at any given point. If she feels trapped even a little bit, she gets very uncomfortable and seeks an escape.

It's Dragon Age day, and I wanna talk about “Dragon Age next generation of heroes”, basically children of companions and NPCs, that survive or exist thanks to the heroes of Thedas. Everyone stopped using that template years ago, that's how long it's been since I started these.
I am now speaking these kids into existence.
Latest known event of the Dragon age is Dark Fortress, or several stories of Tevinter Nights, in 9:45. Most next gen kids are still children by then, so the referent point is later, possibly 9:52. 9:52 confirmed and I have never felt more vindicated
Quick rundown of how they come to be and when, and I might post character sheets someday. There are links to the pinterest boards, with sources and more info.
Let's start with the 4 that are canon, though one surviving and another existing are conditional.
Endrin Aeducan is the son of Bhelen Aeducan and Rica Brosca. He always exists and survives regardless of your origin, but doesn't always get to be crown prince of Orzammar. Rica becomes Queen with a Brosca warden so, in this world, he does.
Rengar Brosca is Zerlinda's casteless baby, probably close in age to Endrin as they’re both newborns when you first visit Orzammar. He becomes the ward of my Brosca, with Zerlinda in charge of newly formed House Brosca; no record of the casteless means the Assembly can't prove they're not related by blood.
By 9:52 these two would be 21-22.
Tini Kondrat is the child of Oghren and Felsi, named after the warden (Tini Brosca) so I'm assuming her gender is conditional; she gets to be the first (and only) canon girl.
Kieran is Morrigan’s Old God Baby. Mine is Alistair’s bastard son, but he doesn’t have to be; I just enjoy his grandparents lineup being: Maric, Fiona, Flemeth, and some chasind guy.
They're both born in 9:31, less than a year younger than the previous.
And now moving on to the 4 that don't technically exist, but should.
Ailis and Mael Theirin are hypothetical twins of King Alistair and Queen Anora, who are both presumed to have fertility issues, but to me, Morrigan's blood magic ritual is simply a conception spell. Morrigan during Witch Hunt leaves a gift for the warden, leads to a cure for the taint. What if she added the spell for Alistair and Anora, to ensure her son is never bothered as the last of the Theirin bloodline.
Witch Hunt happening in 9:32, they’re born around 9:33.
Leandra Hendyr is the youngest in the next gen, hypothetical mage spawn of Aveline and Donnic Hendyr, and, as far as I know, cannot possibly exist before 9:37. There is talk of children in act 3 however, fingers crossed for magical Hendyr spawn to be canon.
Pernille de Chalons is the hypothetical daughter of Emperor Gaspard de Chalons and his late wife Calienne née de Ghislain (daughter of Vivienne's lover Bastien). To exist, she'd have to be born in 9:20 at the latest, year of her mother’s death, making her a good decade older than everyone else but the same age as Connor Guerrin. Neither her existence nor survival depends on anyone, just her dad’s job, but I wanted an orlesian character.
And now adding Connor Guerrin, because technically he satisfies the criteria more than Pernille, but he also already exists in universe as a grown up.
Bevin is another kid that survives thanks to the HoF, but the choice is either: buy the blade and Kaitlyn makes something of herself and eventually marries Teagan Guerrin, or return the blade and Bevin becomes a hero. Sorry I like the first choice better. Brother of an Arless is a good compensation for never becoming an adventurer.

Writing Tag Game
Okay listen I’m on vacation XD hence why I’m ignoring everyone’s tags/taking forever to respond. But I’ve been tagged in this A LOT and I really liked it/wanted to do it so thank you to everyone who tagged me (oh my god I’m so sorry if I missed one of you there were SO MANY): @noire-pandora, @in-arlathan, @thevikingwoman, @morganlefaye79, @elveny, @kunstpause, @pikapeppa
I’m not tagging anyone because I’m tagging everyone since I’m too lazy to find my tag list (I’m on VACATION). If you’ve not gotten tagged and wanted to do this, say I tagged you.
How many works do you have on Ao3?
147 - I have 145 linked to my profile and two in the anonymous collection.
What's your total Ao3 wordcount?
1,468,248. Almost 1.5 million!!
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Of Miracles and Heroes (FenHawke, Cadash/Varric, Varania/Blackwall): 269
Interspecies Relationships Have Their Ups and Downs (Shakarian): 145
Don’t Make it Hawkeward (Varric/Hawke): 135
The Ambassador’s Vices (Josephine/Adaar): 111
The Girl with the Arrow Tattoo (Cadash/Varric): 101
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do (but - to be honest - it takes me FOREVER). I love comments. It’s so much easier to not leave comments than leave comments, so every time someone leaves one I’m blown away. I feel like - for leaving me a comment - you’re definitely owed an answer! I do apologize that it takes me awhile though - I am very bad at answering because they mean a lot to me and I get easily overwhelmed by the AO3 inbox I don’t know why. Blame anxiety.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
I’ll be honest, I don’t like angsty endings so I don’t have many of them. By far the angstiest ending I have is Flowers, Lies, and Forgiveness. This is a Bianca Davri/Varric Tethras fic set during the final act of DA2. I wrote it from Bianca’s POV - showing Varric unraveling under the pressure of Kirkwall and Bianca’s complicated feelings about infidelity to her husband who clearly cares about her as well. I wrote it for @hollyand-writes who always lets me lean into the tragic “fucked upness” of the pairing when I’m feeling like making Varric suffer.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending
I prefer happy endings so almost EVERYTHING has a happy ending. My favorite endings, so far, are for Cheating the Dread Wolf, which is my Varric/Cadash/Solas polycule (or as I like to refer to it - Solas has a dwarf kink) and The Viscount’s Mistress which is my Hurt/Comfort Cadash/Varric Trespasser bullshit.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've written?
I have not written crossovers - but I am very into AUs in another setting that belongs to a different fictional universe. Most recently I got back into my Downton Abbey bullshit and wrote Flappers for Fen’harel which is basically a Downton Abbey AU Solas/Cadash and I’m not taking comments about the outrageousness of it.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yep. Honestly though? Over the two years I’ve been active in Fandom, the shitty comments can be counted on one hand and usually came from the same people over and over again, who are easily blocked, and should stop seeking out clearly labeled content they don’t like. Me and my work are not for everyone - that’s REALLY okay. I’ve blocked people for no other reason than making things I don’t like - that doesn’t mean they’re bad people.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
GOD DO I.
I am extremely sex and kink positive. Because of this - a lot of my work involves sex in some way or another. I think sex is a beautiful part of many (although not all) relationships, and that it’s frequently glossed over in mainstream media (particularly queer, kinky, and polyam sex).
This ranges from sort of vanilla slow burns (My Cole/Bea fic, Compassion for an Assassin, has smut which hasn’t been posted yet. It’s Cole’s first time and is fairly vanilla and romantic, and occurs approximately 40k into the fic) to some pretty dubious consent near 24/7 dom/sub dynamics with BDSM kinks (I’ve written JUST as much of the Sereda/Gorim problematic smut as @jarakrisafis has in our series Forced Moves).
There’s very few kinks I’m not willing to touch at least to try out - even if I end up not liking them. And the ones that aren’t for me are 100% allowed to exist and I will fight for them to the bloody end. My only recommendation is CLEARLY labeling your shit and not being afraid to add a tag if someone asks you to.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of? I’ve seen ideas I’ve tried on picked up by other people - but I don’t consider that stealing and it’s hard to trace “who has been inspired by who” because we ALL have been inspired by thousands of other people and frankly more stuff for me when I pull you over to my weird AUs and rarepairs.
I also think that’s a huge part of not getting stolen - I’ve got so much weird niche shit that only a couple people read that stealing from me is going to most likely be caught IMMEDIATELY the audience is so small.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don’t believe so!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! I’ve got some co-written secret smut with @blarfkey which almost nobody has seen, I’ve borrowed @tightassets Hawke, Lavellan, and Shepard for fics that she has illustrated, borrowed @tuffypelly‘s Adaars for some great fics, and my most ambitious project - the Forced Moves series with @jarakrisafis. It started out as us just exchanging gifts back and forth but we’ve wrangled it into Gambits and Countergambits, an Aeducan-origin prequel, that I’m VERY proud of.
I love co-writing very much, but it’s very important to find the right partner and for it to be someone you trust completely.
What's your all time favourite ship?
This is a stupidly hard question because I am, at heart, a multi-shipper.
I love Varric/Hawke and Varric/Cadash. I’m also a sucker for Solas/Cadash. My fandom pool noodle is Varric/Cadash/Solas which I adore, and I’m very fond of Cole/Cadash.
Most recently I’ve been DEEP in Aeducan/Gorim Saelac, Bhelen/Rica/Vartag, and Aeducan/Brosca feels. Dwarf origins are the best origins in my opinion and those characters are PERFECT.
What's a WIP you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I fully plan on finishing everything. My writing style changed a lot, for the better, in a short period of time. I need to integrate my old style/new style and had to get a pep talk about how to do that. Now I’m ready to try as soon as I finish Compassion for an Assassin.
What are your writing strengths?
I write very sexy, hot smut. I also really like playing with character voice and making sure I get them “right” so I do a lot of experimenting before publishing a new character for the first time.
I struggle to write action scenes - it’s like pulling fucking teeth - but people really LOVE my action scenes and they read well. So that’s something I’m proud of even if it feels like doing fucking pull ups.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I never learned anything. My experiences with English and writing teachers were overwhelmingly negative. I’m unsure if I’m just not cut out for classes or if they were that bad, but I always left feeling like there was one “right” way to do it, and everything I liked was “bad”, so what was the point of “learning” anything?
It turns out there’s this very pompous, pretentious thought process in writing where people “assume” things must be done, but GOOD writing teachers teach you the rules and then how to break them. I either never had a good writing teacher or got too intimidated to give them a chance before bouncing.
So I’m exceedingly self-taught. I lack the vocabulary to discuss plot structure, characterization, grammar, etc. I instinctively know most of these things based on trial and error and reading, but I didn’t learn them and I miss a lot of nuance in the rules, but until recently I was still too intimidated and unsure of myself to admit that or take it seriously.
So - my defense mechanism is NOT taking ANYTHING seriously. If my writing is a joke to me, it’s gotta be a joke to everyone else, but that’s been a shield to hide behind instead of being thoughtful about things. I’m here to have fun, yes, but there’s nothing wrong with learning a technique to the art.
I’ve learned - mostly thanks to @blarfkey who is an amazing person and a wonderful teacher - that I am a good writer based on my self-teaching. And being intimidated of people who throw around impressive sounding words is a weakness that I am working on.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Use sparingly and with good reason. It should be short and explained later or clear from context.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter on message boards back in the fucking day. Thankfully none of it exists anywhere anymore.
What's your favourite fic you've written?
This is such a sappy answer and I’m so sorry. My favorite things have been written for and because of people I love and care about. When I read them, I’m not just reading the story, but remembering the relationships I’ve made and how important they are.
So, my top three fics for THAT reason:
1. Cheating the Dread Wolf - written for @blarfkey who inspired the idea and ruthlessly encouraged me to make it happen. This fic was so healing for me because it heavily features Fatherhood within it - and I lost my father in June 2020. I don’t know if I’d have been able to do it without her and it was so important for me to do.
2. Gambits and Countergambits - written with @jarakrisafis and the culmination of a years worth of gifting shit back and forth and crafting a shared universe. The worldbuilding, smut, relationships, EVERYTHING about this fic is so deeply and passionately cared about by both of us and to our knowledge it is completely, totally unique.
3. Relentless, Ridiculous, and Rakish - one of my only primarily gen-fics focusing on a forming brother/sister relationship between Maria Cadash and @tuffypelly‘s Otsar Adaar. I very much enjoyed writing it for her <3
And then my overall favorite fic:
The Viscount’s Mistress: I have a lot of opinions about how fanfiction treats the anchor’s meltdown and the aftermath. It’s one of the things in DAI that resonated with me SO much as someone who lives with chronic pain and a disability. I loved the fact my OC was in the same shoes and STILL saving the world. This is very much a fic that explores all the dark sides of trauma, pain, and the mental health effects of it. But it ends on a happy and hopeful note.

Fic Writer Meme
Name
Fandoms
Most popular oneshot
Most popular multichapter
Actual worst part of writing
How you choose your titles
Do you outline
Ideas I probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice?
Callouts @ Me
Best writing traits
Spicy Tangential Opinion
Name: Jordie is what everyone calls me and my username on Tumblr and AO3 is Lostinfantasies38, so I’m easy to track down
Fandoms: Over the years there have been many fandoms I’ve held dear, but my recent work is in Dragon Age and Dear Evan Hansen. I have temporarily left DA for some fresh air in DEH and have been doing very well there.
Most Popular Oneshot: I actually have a tie for this one and surprisingly, they are from separate fandoms.
Permanent Ink from DA: Origins, featuring Alistair and my male Warden OC Zane Cousland is quite spicy and tender. If you like pining bi-Alistair and schmexy love interests, this one is for you.
For You I Could Be was my very first DEH fic and it’s taken the fandom by storm, which still shocks the pants off me. It’s a deviation from canon and focuses on Evan and Connor realizing they have feelings for each other. Read the tags though since triggering content is mentioned.
Most Popular Multichapter: I’m sure you’re all tired of hearing about Sun Touched and Find Me Well Within Your Grace, but they are tied yet again. Sun Touched is my Dwarven Warden novelization of DA: Origins with Sirra Brosca and Alistair. Find Me Well is a head-canon fueled prequel of DA featuring young Cullistair at the abbey.
I won’t bore you all with the details, but I am very proud of both fics. I hope to come back and finish them once I’m the right head-space to devote the time to them that they deserve.
Actual Worst Part of Writing: The plot and staying on target. I tend to get side tracked by character development at times and that can derail an entire story if I’m not careful. I’m also incredibly careful to not lose a character’s voice while trying to flesh out a whole new side of them in my work. It’s a delicate balance. I want to do them justice, so while playing with them in AUs is fun, I still want them to sound like “them” and not caricatures.
How You Choose Your Titles: Through blood, sweat, and typically numerous tears and hair pulling sessions. I like my titles to reflect the story, but not sound too fucking cheesy, and sometimes that feels like an impossible task. I try to avoid using song lyrics personally, but I have done it once or twice in a pinch, I won’t lie.
Do you outline: FUCK NO. I have tried and I can’t stick to them. I’m also the type that once I write it out, even in an outline, I lose interest in that particular piece. I need the scenes to be fresh and literally banging on the door of my brain so they flow properly. Everything is fixed/cleaned up in editing, but if the emotion is missing in the initial draft it takes a monumental effort later to keep it from ringing hollow. Sometimes the drafts can’t be saved, period, after outlining and I’ve scraped entire stories/chapters because of it.
Ideas I probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice: I have an entire folder of shelved DA stories in the wings that I’m not sure will ever see the light of day now. I’m hesitant to say “never,” but truthfully the more time passes the more likely that word becomes.
They include: (1) a modern carta/cop AU ft. Sirra/Alistair, (2) part 2 and 3 planned continuations of Find Me Well following Alistair and Cullen through DAI, (3) Varric/Charise Trevelyan DAI story full of intrigue and the House of Repose, (4) world weary veteran Grey Warden Alistair/Rylie Trevelyan DAI, chock full of dashing heroics and a swooning damsel in distress, (5) Cullen/Eryka Cadash DAI with lots of tension/angst due to the Carta & Commander angle causing friction [interpret that how you will, lol!] (6) a modern color soulmate AU with a unique twist ft. Cullen/Alistair (7) a Siren!AU ft. Sirra/Alistair and a cutthroat island of traitorous bitches (8) and finishing my incomplete DA stories. As a bonus, (9) there is a football AU for DEH that I started during NaNo, but it may end up in the scrap pile, too. I’m still picking at it, but meh, we’ll see.
Callouts at Me: Guilt.
Honestly, I know we do this for free and we have no obligation to write/complete these stories, but we all do it because we love it. Yet with each incomplete story, coupled with my rather abrupt departure from the DA fandom, my guilt has grown exponentially.
However, I can’t allow it to hold me back and continue to eat away at my soul. It keeps me from being productive and having a hope and a prayer of finishing what I started. If this means that I play in a new fandom for a while, then so be it. I wish I had more familiar faces to follow me there, but I understand it’s not for everyone and I would never make demands. Though, that doesn’t mean I don’t miss my usual readers and the comments I looked forward to, but I have relocated and I have to accept that. Just know that I still love you all and miss the fuck out of you.
Best Writing Traits: Emotionally evocative prose and creating realistically flawed characters are what I’m best at. My characters are not perfect, because who the fuck can relate to perfection? Who would want to? They are flawed, broken, dealing with a shit ton of trauma as best as they can, and generally bumbling through life. Yes, they may have a LI, but they are not “cured” by love. They are supported by an equally flawed person as they continue to stumble through life, though with fewer face plants than before because they have someone to (hopefully) catch them whenever they aren’t overwhelmed with their own crises. And making all the pain and growth as lyrical as possible is my favorite part.
Sometimes I nail dialogue, too, but more often than not that’s simply luck after hours of talking to myself and laughing/crying so hard I had to include it in a fic.
Spicy Tangential Opinion: Every single kudo, like, reblog, or comment is special. I know it’s easy to focus on the “quantity” of them - but each one represents a real person that one of my stories has emotionally resonated with. Every day we write and post we’re affecting real people behind our stats, which means we can treasure every single one. Talking about the numbers and engagement erases that fact, and I wish more people treasured every individual interaction for the meaningful gesture about their work it is. Each one is a little spark of ‘you are loved’ in the world. {Keeping this Manka because you summed it up beautifully! Bravo!}
Throwing this out into the world! Tag list below (authors only this time, sorry my lovely artist friends) but feel no obligation to do so! Also sorry if you already got tagged!

prompt 51 of any pairing you'd like!
Thank you for the prompt! It helped break me out of my cycle of picking a prompt, writing a couple of paragraphs, changing the pairing, writing a few more paragraphs, picking a prompt...and so on 😂 I chose to write about my Brosca Frankie x Alistair in Orzammar, partly because I I love them and partly because I’ve found Alistair really challenging to write every time I’ve tried and I want to get better at writing him!
Prompt 51: Public Kiss
The Tapster’s Tavern hadn’t been Frankie’s first choice of establishment. It was familiar, true, but very few positive memories had been formed there. But the others had wanted a warm, safe place to sit, drink, forget all their responsibilities, at least for a little while. The Orzammar pub fit most of those requirements - it was a warm place to sit and drink at the very least, and so that was where they had ended up.
The novelty of sitting at chairs and tables finally the right size for her while her companions shifted awkwardly on their smaller chairs - Sten had abandoned his completely and sat directly on the ground - wasn’t enough to offset the discomfort and Frankie resolved to not stay long regardless of how long her companions lingered.
Alistair sat beside her, his presence both a comfort and a curse. The tattoo on her face had a meaning here and her warden status did little to counteract it.
On the surface, being a Grey Warden earned respect from some, fear, or danger from others, but regardless of exactly what it meant to each individual, it carried a certain level of status. But here? She was still a brand, worthless. As they had entered, she had seen the desire to be known as the tavern chosen by the Grey Wardens and their surfacer companions warring with the distaste of serving her.
“You’ll need to order for me,” she’d muttered to Alistair when they arrived. Warden or not, she’d doubted they’d be any less reluctant to serve her than they’d have been before she joined the Wardens.
“What, don’t have any coin left in that pouch?” Alistair had joked. “I knew you kept me around for a reason.”
The twitch of her hand towards her cheek had been involuntary but it happened nonetheless, and Alistair had clearly noticed.
“I’ve put my foot in it again, haven’t I?” he’d said, a reassuring hand coming to rest on her shoulder. “Sorry. I’ll take care of it.”
It was still unclear if he’d noticed her flinch at the additional contact.
He’d made good on his promise though, supplying her with the minimal drinks she’d consumed. Throughout the night so far, he had stuck close to her side as Frankie’s eyes darted around the room, watching, waiting for trouble that seemed inevitable. The sun had faded her brand as they travelled, but the mark still remained, ink spreading across her cheek like an awful shadow and highlighting that she wasn’t welcome.
Beside her, Alistair laughed at whatever story Leliana was telling and Frankie shifted, positioning her body even further away from him. Orzammar may not respect her, never would, but there was no reason that he should suffer the indignity of being publicly involved with her.
A fight broke out across the room, drawing Frankie’s attention as she assessed the level of threat. Before Duncan, before the Wardens, she had been involved in a number of such fights, and a significant factor in the instigation of many of them but now it was hardly worth a second thought.
In fact, the fight only served to distract her long enough that she didn’t notice Alistair leaning down level with her ear.
“You know you don’t have to stay here with me if you’re uncomfortable,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper, loud enough for her alone to hear in the rowdy tavern. “I get it, why you don’t want to be seen with me.”
“You do?” Blood rushed to Frankie’s cheeks, pink spreading across her pale skin. Of course he had noticed. He was too perceptive not to have, and she just hoped she hadn’t made him feel bad.
“A big ugly guy like me? Absolutely.” His cheerful laugh didn’t help ease her anxiety. “But I mean it, I do. I don’t want you to be subject to all of the rumours and gossip and whatever else spreads around these places. Assuming Orzammar gossip is the same as Redcliffe gossip, anyway, I’m not exactly an expert. But if you don’t want to be seen to be involved with a human, I get it. Really.”
Frankie just blinked at him as he rubbed his neck nervously, unsure what to say to that. He thought she was embarrassed to be seen with him?
“That’s not it at all,” she said finally, wincing when the words came out much more dismissive than intended.
“No? Oh, I just assumed then. Wrongly, obviously. They do say to avoid assumptions, ass out of you and me and all that.”
“Alistair I’m casteless,” she interrupted. “I’m completely worthless here. Less than worthless.”
“You’re not worthless! You’re very worth...ful. Full of worth.” One of Alistair’s large hands rested over her own. Her face, still pink from before, grew even hotter as her heart skipped a beat and she tried to subdue the flight response the action triggered within her.
“I know I’m not worthless, not now that I’m a warden.” Alistair opened his mouth, presumably to argue that being a warden didn’t have any impact on her worth but Frankie didn’t give him the chance. “But here, you’ll lose any credibility if they think you’re lowering yourself to a… to me.”
“Frankie Brosca, I don’t think I’ve ever been considered credible in my life,” Alistair objected. “What have I got to lose?”
She didn’t answer, eyes averted. Alistair cupped her face with a hand, a single calloused finger tracing over the ugly brand, drawing her face up to look at him.
“I don’t care what they think,” he said. “I just care about you.”
“But what if…”
“No matter what,” he interrupted firmly, and Frankie felt a shy smile start to creep across her face.
“Promise?”
“Promise,” he said, leaning down to kiss her. “I don’t care what some old fashioned dwarfs who aren’t even smart enough to appreciate you think of me.”
“Thank you Alistair,” she said, pressing return kiss to his lips. His words meant a great deal to her, more than she could find the words to express, but she hoped he understood.
“We can leave if you want to,” Alistair said as she nestled closer against his side, trying to relax as she pushed feelings of insecurity away. “Right now, I don’t even need to finish my drink. Or I could finish it very quickly. Up to you really.”
“We can stay.” The anxiety hadn’t fully subsided but it had eased knowing that Alistair truly didn’t care about her status, about what everyone around them would think of her, of him for being with her. “At least for a little bit.”
“I’ll stay with you.” Alistair beamed at her, the smile lighting up his whole face. “I don’t care what they think. I care what you think. That’s it.”
With Alistair by her side, her body snug against his as she stole the occasional kiss, the Tapster’s Tavern suddenly didn’t seem so bad.

tag game
Fic Writer Edition (tagged by @silver-latin-and-salt, tagging, idk, whoever is writing atm? @twistedsinews @leahazel @junemermaid, anyone who’d like, no one who doesn’t, etc.)
Fandoms: atm, primarily Shadowhunters. But also BioWare: Dragon Age and Mass Effect and maybe someday I’ll post some Jade Empire.
Also the occasional other game or TV show or Yuletide inspired one-shot. It’s a wide and ridiculous range of things, from a Georgette Heyer regency epilogue to Code: Realize and #7kpp to Firefly & even some Sleepy Hollow ficlets from back in s1 before we realized how terrible TPTB were going to be.
Number of fics: I have 158 works published on AO3.
This includes a couple of fanmixes that are linked on there to companion fics/series, two collaborative fics which are not just mine, even less so than most writing that is, and four WIPs: two of which I am still working on, one of which will absolutely 100% NEVER ever get more, and then that last one will probably not get more but who knows, maybe in ten years we’ll do a reunion and try again (it’s one of the collabs).
AS WELL AS: forty-seven different ficlet collections, sorted by fandom and pairing(s), because otherwise I would honestly have almost 1000 things and never be able to find a single damn one of them when I wanted to (and neither would anyone else). Like, ten of them are just for Shadowhunters because I split up the coda-fic by season and then also I put the porn in its own thing and Clizzy is kind of a post-canon AU so they’re on their own too and spin-offs of a particular fic setting get their own collection so they’re all together and etc. etc. etc.
Fic I spent a lot of time on: Do we count time actually writing? Or just the amount of time it hung out in my head before I finished it? Because I probably spent the most actual physical writing time on Lost For Words, which is a frothy cotton-candy experiment in long-fic for Mass Effect that I posted chapter by chapter as I wrote it and actually finished. (I have never successfully repeated the experience, tho I suppose a couple of my Shadowhunters fics will sort-of qualify in terms of length when they’re done, but they didn’t get posted semi-regularly and in progressive chapters in at all the same way.)
In terms of time between debut and completion, that would probably have to go to Cruel Intentions, which took over five years between initially going up on the Dragon Age Kink Meme and actually getting a conclusion.
i am for you and if broken hearts were whole have both been lingering WIPs for over two years at this point now, though, and a couple other DA2 fics were pretty close to that five year mark as well. 😅
Fic I didn’t spend a lot of time on: ashes of angels because I was coming up on my bingo deadline so I just pounded it out in a day. (It’s actually quite good tho! I think so, anyway! I am very proud of it! Read part one first, if you haven’t yet!)
also Impossible, (DA2, Bethany/Sebastian, confessional!porn) which mostly wrote itself in pretty short order, which was delightful. (Tho I also had a very astute beta for that one; don’t think he’s on tumblr anymore tho, or I’d yell at him in thanks again.) I told y’all I had a priest!kink problem. Not that you hadn’t all noticed on your own, anyways...
Longest fic: Finished? The aforementioned Lost for Words at just over 62k.
In limbo? Persephone Rising is literally three times longer than my next longest fic (and still not done!) but it is also a collab fic with three authors, so I suppose that sort of evens out?
Active WIP? i am for you at 59k. I’m not sure how much more is left of that one, tbqh... it will probably end up a bit longer than LfW, tho maybe not by much.
Shortest fic: I have no fucking clue, 47 ficlet collections, remember? In terms of a thing that I forgot to collect, apparently it is Consequences, which is my Brosca after the Landsmeet in DA:O.
Most hits/Most kudos/Most bookmarks: ALL THREE FOR i am for you! (Wonder how it’ll do when it’s no longer marked as a WIP?)
Total word count: On AO3: 1,137,609 !!!
(Sorry, you can see why I had to make that big tho, right?)
Fic I want to rewrite/expand: Except for the revisions to what is now Maleficar, I much prefer to leave fic as is, once it’s up there, so nothing on the re-write front. It was what it was when I did it, and it’s important to remember that, even when you move on to new stuff, imo.
But! I have potential/hopeful sequels in the WIP folder for and breathing is wishing, out of some dreaming tree, with an if in its soul, and several assorted ficlet collections & prompts I’ve sort of teased over the years.
Favourite fic of mine: At the moment, they have hung the sky with arrows because it’s a thing I’m not sure I ever really thought I was going to write, and then I did and I surprised myself a little, but it was fun and it ties together a lot of my thoughts on the Shadowhunters finale in a way I really enjoyed. (Also it has an actual plot! I don’t do that terribly often, I’m usually very introspective in my fic.)
Sneak peek of a WIP/Share an idea? I started a Shadowhunter!Magnus fic for a bingo square, but then scope creep! so I made a moodboard, but there is maybe a fic on the way... eventually. After my Bangs. 🤞🏻
The first time Magnus Bane met the High Warlock of Manhattan it was during his "travels", the two years after graduating from the Academy when most Nephilim wandered from Institute to Institute, seeing how things were done differently around the world, how they were still so often the same, learning about all the things you couldn't see in a classroom.
He wasn't actually in New York City in order to meet the High Warlock, of course, not as a 17-year-old foot soldier, that was well above his pay grade, as the mundanes put it. But when all the full-fledged Shadowhunters had work to do, he was assigned escort duty when the High Warlock showed up to do his yearly wards inspection.
Magnus met High Warlock Lightwood at the main entrance, and almost swallowed his own tongue at the sight of him, a broad shouldered, long-legged white man dressed in a conservative but very well-tailored suit, with heavy eyebrows, even heavier eyelashes, and a complete and utter lack of anything resembling an expression on his face.
A shiver went down Magnus' spine as he met the High Warlock's gaze, and he refused to think too much about why.
Magnus managed to introduce himself reasonably coherently, he thought, offering a hand to shake, but the High Warlock just raised an eyebrow at him. "I thought I'd talked them out of this nonsense last year."
"Uh." Magnus swallowed. The man was both terrifying and ludicrously attractive, and Magnus resigned himself to being a slightly stuttering idiot for the next four-to-six hours. "Not my call, I'm sorry to say. Sir."
The High Warlock rolled his eyes, and stepped forward. Magnus barely managed to dodge out of his way, and followed along behind him as he stalked towards the Angelic Core, where all the Institute Wards were anchored.
He never once acknowledged Magnus' presence as he worked, never asked for directions, or needed any sort of assistance. Magnus followed him anyway, and couldn't even bring himself to be upset about the waste of his time because damn, that view. He could see the shift of Lightwood's shoulders beneath the line of his coat, the tension in the muscles in his arms as each tiny motion correlated to whatever he was doing with his magic. There was so much power there, constrained and under his complete control.
The High Warlock never took so much as a wasted step in his clearly perfectly planned spiral of a route through the Institute's halls, circling out from the Core, stopping at each node, hitting all four corners of the building, before reaching the main doors again several hours later.
Once there he finally turned and looked at Magnus directly. He dipped his head in some slight acknowledgement, straightened his cuffs, and his face shifted into something that was merely neutral and professional rather than granite. "There were no concerns to note, Mr. Bane. The wards have been refreshed, and the contract terms have been met."
"Thank you," Magnus managed, though he had to cough to get his voice to cooperate.
The High Warlock's face softened, a hint of something that wasn't quite surprise in his eyes, but Magnus wasn't sure what to call it instead. "You're very welcome."
He nodded again, slightly more sincerely, perhaps, though there still wasn't enough of an expression on his face to properly qualify, in Magnus' opinion, and then he turned and left.
Magnus blinked at the doors as they shut behind him, and let out one long slow exhale. His shoulders relaxed, and it was only now that his posture sagged that he realized he'd been extra tense the entire time, as if waiting for an attack that had never come.

OC Masterlist
@kiraia pointed out (rightfully so) that I made quite a few vague posts about my OCs, but that I’ve never properly introduced them. It’s true, mostly because I tend to wait until they are well developed to properly do anything with them, which doesn’t happen all that often. So consider this a formal introduction to my current OCs :)
(Under a cut because there are quite a bunch of them. I hope it works on mobile, because otherwise yikes! I’m very sorry.)
Sad Mages Worldstate
It’s probably the one I talk about the most. It’s the most developed worldstate, with the most developed OCs and I’ve written a lot of fics about them.
The Warden: Ana Surana [Tag | Complete bio | Fanfictions]
pairings: Ana x Daylen Amell (friends with benefits), Ana x Alistair (DAO romance), Ana x Carver (current pairing, now married) + I occasionally throw Isabela into the mix because reasons.
Born in the Gallows and taken to an orphanage in Highever until her magic manifested.
Grew up close to Anders, Jowan, Amell and (to a lesser extent) Finn.
Had a baby that she was forced to give to the Chantry.
Main DAO choices include: romancing Alistair, getting her heart broken after making him king, stupidly refusing to do Morrigan’s ritual and watching him sacrifice his life for her.
Later she starts dating Carver (whom she actually met at Ostagar where they had a brief fling before the Battle).
Takes part in the Mage Underground and helps Anders build his bomb.
Starts hearing the Calling shortly before DAI.
Is Hawke’s contact during HLtA.
The Champion: Alwyn Hawke [Tag | Complete bio | Fanfictions]
pairings: Alwyn x Anders (DA2 romance, on and off), Alwyn x Cullen (one time), Alwyn x Rylen (post DAI, considering making them endgame, not sure yet).
Purple Hawke.
Carver becomes a warden.
Supports the mages.
Develops a close friendship with Ana.
Breaks up with Anders after the Chantry explosion, wishing he’d trusted him enough to share his plan with him. They do get back together later on.
Is the first one to learn about Ana hearing the Calling.
Stays behind in the Fade during HLtA, but eventually finds a way out.
He was found by Inquisition scouts in the Western Approach, suffering from amnesia.
Later falls in love with Rylen.
(Note that I still need to update that last part into his bio.)
The Inquisitor: Violette Surana [Tag | Complete bio | Fanfictions]
pairings: Violette x Orsino (once twice), Violette x Samson (current partner).
Ana’s mum.
Orlesian who grew up in Ferelden during the occupation.
Was taken to the Gallows at age 13.
Was a close friend of Malcolm Hawke.
Had her baby (Ana) taken by the Chantry. Later escaped.
Hates the Chantry.
Attends the Conclave in the hopes that Ana might be there.
Starts sleeping with Samson after his capture because he basically said fuck the Chantry to her face and it turned her on.
Hardened Leliana becomes Divine.
Other OC: Neriah Amell-Hawke
Is Ana’s daughter. She got her out of the orphanage after the Blight (thanks, Leliana).
Her father is Daylen Amell. Carver adopted her when he married her mama.
Is 18 as of Trespasser.
Second Chances Worldstate
This one started off as an AU for a fic starring Ana and Alistair which is why these two worldstates are so similar. The point of divergence is that Jowan went to Amell for help instead of Ana for some reason.
The Warden: Daylen Amell [Tag | Fanfictions]
pairings: Day x Ana (friends with benefits), Day x Morrigan (DAO romance and while I did consider for a while not having him follow her through the eluvian, I changed my mind. There’s too much growth potential.)
His father was Maurevar Carver, because I say so.
Main DAO choices include: Sparing Loghain, Alistair becoming a drunk, not doing Morrigan’s ritual because he can just throw Loghain at the Archdemon (which he did).
Helps Ana get their daughter out of the Kirkwall orphanage. Bails on them right afterwards.
Does follow Morrigan through the eluvian and actually ends up being a decent dad to Kieran.
Does not become Ferelden’s Warden-Commander.
The Champion: Alwyn Hawke (yes, again)
Like I said, this was originally an AU, so it made sense to keep the same Hawke. There are quite a few differences, however.
pairings: none.
Does not bring Anders to the Deep Roads. Carver dies.
Suffers from severe depression afterwards.
Goes from purple to full blue after Leandra’s death.
Stays behind in the Fade. Probably won’t make it out in this worldstate.
The Inquisitor: Asaara Adaar [Tag | Fanfictions]
pairings: Asaara x Cullen (starts before DAI, now married).
Meets Cullen shortly before the Chantry explosion. They fall in love.
Not going into too much details because it will be part of Second Chances’ main story.
Other OCs: Ana Surana and Neriah [Main fic | Other fics]
Again, can’t go into too much detail because spoilers.
pairings: Ana x Carver (before the Deep Roads expedition anyway), Ana x Alistair.
Day brings Ana to Kirkwall shortly after the Blight to meet their daughter. She ends up staying after they get Neriah out of the orphanage.
Single mom. Works as a waitress.
They find drunk Alistair in their garbage. Ana wants to help him get better.
Other OC: Issala Adaar [Tag]
pairings: Issala x Varric (post-DAI).
Is Asaara’s overexcited little sister.
Likes to tinker with explosives.
Built a handheld cannon. It’s clunky, not very accurate and is prone to misfire. In other words, it still needs a lot of work.
Varric thinks she’s adorable so he made her his personal bodyguard.
Angry Dalish Worldstate
The Warden: Shaelyn Mahariel [Tag | Fanfictions]
pairings: Lyn x Tamlen (Origin), Lyn x Bethany, (considering Lyn x Alistair between DA2 and DAI but even that might be too cruel.)
Doesn’t want to be a warden.
DAO choices include: Alistair remaining with the wardens because he doesn’t want to be king.
No in-game romance, she was too heartbroken after losing Tamlen.
Eventually starts dating Bethany.
Travels to the Free Marches after the death of her clan to kill the man responsible.
Almost dies in the resulting fight against Hawke (thank the Creators Anders was there).
Goes home and confesses to Bethany that she almost killed her brother and that she would have done it had he not been so badass. They break up.
The two of them reconcile post-DAI, after Hawke and Merrill’s wedding.
The Champion: Kris Hawke [Tag]
pairings: Kris x Merrill (now married).
Blue Hawke.
Sadly couldn’t save Merrill’s clan.
Didn’t want to hurt Lyn that badly during their fight, he was just defending himself. Deeply regrets it afterwards.
The Inquisitor: no one specific yet, but likely a Lavellan romancing Solas.
Alistair stays behind in the Fade.
Elves in Luuuuv Worldstate
The Warden: Kallian Tabris [Tag | Fanfictions]
pairings: Tabs x Alistair (DAO romance)
Probably the most canon-compliant OC.
Main DAO choices include: making Alistair king with Anora as queen and becoming his mistress.
Madly in love.
Will have a happy ending.
No Hawke or Inquisitor yet.
Homecoming Worldstate
The Warden: Elaine Cousland [Tag]
pairings: Elle x Nathaniel (pre-DAO, now ex-husband), Elle x Leliana (DAO romance), Elle x Sebastian (current).
Was BFF with Anora during their childhood.
Actually met Sebastian before he was sent to the Chantry. The two of them had similar lifestyles back then, so when Elle visited Starkhaven with her father, the two of them developed a rivalry of sorts in their romantic pursuits (think Merteuil and Valmont, but a lot more light-hearted). They do spend one night together after learning that he is going to be sent to the Chantry.
Eventually fell in love and married Nate. They kept their relationship a secret, however. They divorced after the Blight.
Main DAO choices include: romancing Leliana, making Alistair king with Anora as queen, sparing Loghain and performing the ritual.
Her relationship with Leliana didn’t survive the distance.
Leaves the Wardens after the Chantry explosion and basically goes on the run from everyone because she feels responsible for what happened.
Helps Sebastian reclaim his throne. They fall in love. (I’m currently writing a fic about this, actually)
Still unsure about her DAI fate. Either she replaces Hawke in HLtA and stays behind in the Fade, or she becomes Inquisitor.
The Champion: Violetta Hawke [Tag | Fanfictions]
pairings: Letta x Isabela (DA2 romance).
Yes, she was totally named after Violette.
Is Kris’ sister.
Carver becomes a Templar.
Spared Anders.
Sails into the sunset with Isabela.
DAI fate will depend on what I decide to do with Elle.
The Inquisitor: no one yet.
Loghain survives HLtA.
I am considering having Neriah (yes, again) be the Herald with someone else as Inquisitor since she’s only a kid. In this worldstate, she grew up in Kirkwall’s orphanage before being taken to the Gallows. She escapes the massacre and Carver eventually takes her under his wing.
I'm planning to have two additional worldstates (I want one per warden origin). One called "Happy Dwarves" with a male Brosca romancing Zevran and one called "Dead Heroes" with a male Aeducan romancing Leliana (and probably Alwyn again, idk). I also have a couple of Cadashes that I want to put somewhere, a woman romancing Josie and a man romancing Divine Cassandra. Idk yet if they'll be Inquisitors or if I'll just add them to one of the existing worldstates. Odds are one will be Inquisitor while the other just tags along.
I probably missed a few things here and there, but that’s basically the gist of it. Thanks to anyone who actually stuck to the end, lmao.
