hi! I know this is random but I wanted to ask if you think someone who likes Japril should watch past season 10/11 (after Samuel’s death specifically) bc I spoiled myself a little and I’m worried about their angst arc 😭 like I know they’re gonna be okay in later seasons and everything I just idk. also idk what it is but the writing feels a bit weird (maybe it’s bc I miss Christina)

Heey, yeah I get it! I'm often an angst fan, but when it makes sense, and a lot of times in grey's they just want to make everything as dramatic as possible.

To answer your question I'd say maybe give it a try and decide if you want to keep watching. The quality of the show will keep going down, but still a lot of people enjoy it. (and a lot of people stop watching at this point (or at the end of season 14))

But one thing I will say, even if you decide to stop watching after season 11, if you like Japril there are certain episodes that are Japril centric (like 12x11, 13x16, 17x14) or have great Japril moments (like 14x23, 12x24, 18x20) that you can watch without watching the rest jgghjg

Have you ever seen any historically accurate CC for native Americans? Obviously it differs by tribe somewhat but I feel like all the cc I've seen feels very......... costume-y 😤

oh, interesting question ! most of the stuff i’ve seen ranges from abysmal to offensive, lmao, so ... not really. there are significant differences between specific tribal nations, between regions, across decades, etc., and most of the cc i’ve seen is indeed very costume-y and monolithic. i don’t think i’ve ever seen a native character in anyone’s decades challenges or historical stories set in what’s current the u.s., so that’s probably why there’s so little cc. but i digress bc i’ve already lightly ranted about this elsewhere. i dressed my native founder in colonial attire when i was in the 18th century part of my legacy gameplay for obvious reasons, but i would’ve loved having more culturally accurate clothes/hairstyles/body markings to incorporate.

THAT BEING SAID @peebsplays made a historical dress based on an 18th century nimíipuu outfit, which i’m assuming is fairly accurate ! not my area, tho. if anyone knows of anything else, maybe they’ll weigh in !

when i read "collecting shells" i immediately knew what i wanted to write for it and this is how i think go fish!Sanji would react to reader collecting sea shells as a niche hobby:

When you had started collecting shells, it didn't start out as a hobby, far from it in fact. You didn't even know collecting sea shells was considered a hobby until Luffy pointed it out to you.

"Oh, wow! You collect shells y/n? How cool!" Luffy gushed with his signature bright smile that lit up his face. That's one of the things you loved about Luffy, he had the ability to make any rudimentary task seem like the most special thing ever. "What a cool hobby!"

And that was when your shell-collecting hobby was born. At first, you had just wanted a souvenir of some sort, just wanting a small piece of each island you visited so you could look back at your collection one day and remember all of the places you've ever been to.

It was something very special to you. So imagine how you felt when you nearly forgot to grab a shell one day, during a routine island pit stop to restock the ship's supplies, when the weather suddenly took a turn for the worst just as the straw-hat crew was making their way towards the ship.

You liked to grab a shell right before you left. Usually, you had your routine: you would go to the closest beach to where the Going Merry was docked at, take a moment to survey the assortment of shells scattered along the beach, and pick out the shell that most reflected your either long or short time on the island. You loved it.

But during that particular trip, your shell-collecting routine didn't go as planned and you nearly had a heart attack at the thought of missing a shell.

The weather had suddenly turned for the worst as you and the crew were walking back towards the Merry. All of a sudden, it started to downpour so everyone decided to run back to the ship as fast as they could before all of the ship's supplies got ruined (well, everyone except for Zoro, who was already back on the ship with his stuff, not wanting to stick around on any island longer than he had to).

As you all were running up the plank to board the ship one by one, Luffy suddenly called out to you from the dock as you tailed behind Nami with Sanji right behind you.

"Wait! Y/n!" he called out and you stopped at the top of the plank to look back at him through the rain. "What about your sea shell? Don't forget to go and grab one!"

You gasped and your eyes widened. Your heart nearly dropped at the thought of forgetting to grab a shell and in turn, forgetting all about your visit to this island. "My shell!"

"Your what?" Sanji asked loudly over the rain, next to you.

You quickly dropped your crate of supplies on the ship's deck, not caring anymore if they got wet or not. "I have to go get my sea shell!" you replied quickly, running past him and back to the dock.

"Don't worry, y/n, we will be waiting right here for you!" Luffy reassured with a nod. "Now go get your shell!" he yelled and raised his fist in the air.

You gave him a grateful smile as you dashed towards the nearest beach, Sanji watching you go with a curious look in his eye before bringing your supply crate inside and out of the rain.

That night, as Sanji was cleaning up the kitchen, you were still at the table finishing up the warm soup he had made that night for dinner (he loved that you were a slow eater, it meant that most nights he got to spend a little bit of extra alone time with you in his favorite place), he asked you about your niche hobby.

"Feeling better now?" Sanji asked, breaking the comfortable silence as he cleaned off one of his knives with a rag, sneaking a look at you with a small smile. "All warmed up from being out in the rain too long?"

You hummed in agreement. "Absolutely," you nearly purred in delight (Sanji felt his heartbeat stutter for a second at your tone. He's never heard you like that before). You looked at the chef with gratitude. "Your food always hits the spot Sanji, but the soup you made tonight just hit differently. It warmed me right up."

"Ok good," Sanji laughed softly, looking at you for a few seconds through his blonde hair, and flicked it to the side slightly. "I can't have you getting sick on me now." He finished cleaning off the one knife, setting it down on the counter, picking up another to clean before he asked with a raised brow, "So, uh, why did you go back today? Something about a sea shell?"

And that's how he learned about your niche hobby.

You told him all about it; about how you wanted a small token from everywhere you've ever been, how long you've been doing it, described some of your favorite sea shells you've found so far, and how you couldn't wait to show your collection to your kids and grandkids someday and in turn, telling them all about your adventures with the straw hat pirates.

As Sanji listened to you explain your hobby to him, he couldn't help but smile to himself, stealing glances at you every so often. He loved listening to you talk about the things you were passionate about. He loved the way your face lit up and your eyes sparkled.

And for something as unique and special as this? He loved it even more because he knew that this little hobby of yours went way beyond just collecting shells, it was your own way of physically manifesting your hopes and dreams. Each shell you acquired was another story you would tell your future kids about. You were sharing a part of your soul with him, and Sanji was completely enamored.

From that night forward, Sanji had decided that he too would start a sea shell collection of his own, without you knowing, so that someday in the future, he could surprise you and your kids with it, with the beautiful sea shells he had secretly collected right alongside you, his future wife, the whole time.

He couldn't wait to see the look on your face someday.

Ooh! Now for some reason I imagine Aleksander witnessing how Alina and her friends fucked up his life, being like "Fuck go back!!" and pushing a restart button 😭

So. I think he would take more drastic actions to ensure that his plans would go well (this time).

He's a patient man so he would wait to find the right opportunity and the right King to begin. But, the truth is, that he would still need a Sun Summoner. But knowing that Alina is the one he awaits for, I imagine him going to Keramzin while she's still a child (7-8 years old), taking her to the Little Palace and training her according to his wishes. Nurturing his thoughts in her. Making her reveal her power, embrace it and become strong with it.

It's one thing to struggle to change a person's views when she has already made her own and another to shape her the way you want to while she's young and oblivious.

So yeah, he would make sure everything would go to plan. And by having Alina at his side and close since her childhood then there wouldn't be too many problems for him after it. Since Alina was the one, big obstacle he couldn't get over in the trilogy.

(Also Aleksander if he went to Keramzin to get Alina and saw Mal)

You like Sondheim? His early work was a little too Rodgers and Hammerstein for my taste. But when Sweeney Todd came out in '79, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. He's been compared to Andrew Lloyd Webber, but I think Stephen has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '23, Thomas Kail released this; Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, a full scale revival of the original text and score, complete with a 26-piece orchestra for the first time since 1982. I think the undisputed masterpiece is "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd." A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about Sweeney's personal reputation! It's also a Shakespearean chorus and a warning in the form of a prologue about the story, the tragedy even that's about to unfold before our eyes. Hey Paul!

What made you ship it?

I've always loved their dynamic, and IMO their relationship is one of the best things about ATLA. Even though I shipped Kataang from the start, the way Aang and Zuko went from being mortal enemies to genuine friends is something that's so special to me. The connection they made when they glanced at each other during The Storm, and then the famous "Do you think we could have been friends, too?" scene gives me the chills EVERY TIME. There's this particular kind of vulnerability that they share with each other and no one else. They share the unique privilege and burden of being the Avatar and the Fire Lord, they're the descendants of Roku and Sozin (one literally, the other spiritually), and they're the only ones who can work to bring out about the kind of world that Aang remembers and that Zuko dreams of - TOGETHER. But what really made me ship them is how they keep getting drawn to each other and are never able to escape the other no matter how hard they try, until they both relent and accept that their destinies are inseparably intertwined, that each of them carries a part of the other within them, and dflkgjsldkfjsad IM OBSESSED

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

The vulnerability they share with each other. Both of them keep their emotional walls up pretty high. Zuko is closed off and brooding, and Aang hides a lot with his smile and seemingly open nature. Even though they let down their guard with Mai and Katara, there's a deeper part of themselves that even the women who love them can't quite touch. For Zuko, it's the validation and healing and eventually justice he seeks as someone who both perpetuates and suffers from being part of the FN imperial family's generational cycle of destruction. For Aang, it's the loneliness from being cut off from the world he once knew and from his destiny as the Avatar, a revered and almost mythical being especially in a world that has waited for his return for so long. Aang and Zuko are unique among the ATLA cast in their emotional isolation, and it's only in the moments when they bare their souls to each other (even when they're still enemies! even when it doesn't feel entirely safe!) that they begin to find a kindred spirit. (I know I sound very normal right now but I'm actually internally screaming)

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I haven't been in the Zukaang fandom for very long, but from what I can tell (and from what I'm told), there aren't a lot of Aang-centric fanworks, especially when it comes to fic. So I guess my unpopular opinion is that we could use a lot more Aang-centric Zukaang art and fic...mostly so I can enjoy it LOL. Zuko taking care of Aang? Give it to me because I. will. eat. it. UP. I've already discovered a couple of fic authors, including you, who tend to write Aang-centric fics, and they live rent-free in my brain 😍

Hello, I have something kinda.....weird to say the least, if you don't mind reading my thoughts that is?

Basically, a few months ago, I had a strange and surreal dream/nightmare kind of thing. It was about Monty Python. But it was a depressing and tragic alternative universe. A universe where John Cleese and Michael Palin both got assassinated/killed on the day of the "Friday Night, Saturday Morning" Life of Brian debate interview, where a religious extremist who really hated the film Life of Brian with a burning passion took out both John and Michael out of spite. Like, utter spite, ya'know?

It was....horrible to think about..yet it was an interesting experience to think about.

I'm okay now, I'm aware it was JUST only a bad recurring dream. But, it just shivers me to the core to think about what would've happened on that day in that alternative universe. What would the world look like? What the Pythons think about the sudden passing of John and Michael? Just what would've happened on that day......

Wow... That's sounds terrible actually & definitely like a dream I wouldn't want to dream myself...

It really is an extremely chilling thought and like you said, interesting in a horrible way. Don't even know what to say - the fear that must cause to the other Pythons, the sheer tragedy of taking someone's life for simply making a funny little movie, all the beautiful things we would have never gotten (like movies, books, documentaries...) etc. Glad it never happened in reality!

Any tips on writing smut? or like words that are really cringy that I shouldn't use?

Honestly, idk if I'm the right person to ask lol I just power through writing smut 😅 I think I'd just say to read smut and kind of pull inspo from other writers (not mimic them or copy them, just pull inspo) and then just try to have fun with it!! I think with writing anything, the more fun YOU have while writing, the more fun your readers will have while reading it because you're actually enjoying the process. Definitely check out @silkscream and @pinkchubbiebunnie they're two of my favorite writers and their smut is honestly TOP tier

As for words, honestly, I think anything is fair game in smut. I've read every word under the sun in smut lol I am not a fan of the word moist even in smut so that's about it and that's just a personal preference of mine but other people don't mind with smut 😂
