Kili cursed silently to himself as he jumped over the roots in the darkening forest, kicking a rock from his path frustrated. “Go search if there’s water nearby, Kili.” He mocked his uncle’s orders, ears sharp for any noise around him. “You’ll be fine alone, you don’t need Fili beside you all the time.” 

He sighed in defeat, stopping to look around like a water spring would just magically appear in front of him.

“I don’t even know the forest, who knows what it’s filled with.” He muttered annoyed, his fingers restlessly tapping on the handle of his sword. He had looked forward to this hunting trip a long time but at the moment the aspect of the unknown was starting to get on his nerves.

A loud crack on his left side made Kili jump and draw out his bow, aiming in the darkness. “Who’s there? Show yourself!” He demanded, glad his voice didn’t waver even if his heart had jumped into his throat.

“By the name of.....oh!” Realization that he meant her flickered across her face as she blinked a few times. “I do indeed in fact....” Pausing again she started when the stall owner asked for payment. Paying for her pastries she then turned back to the dwarf, a curious look now spreading over her face. 

“Why are you looking for the Baggin’s, if you don’t mind me asking?”

It was better to ask and know then be surprised during these times. Normally, in times past she would have promptly informed him that she was the only Baggins in the area. However, after being family friends with a wizard one tended to become a bit more wary then the average hobbit.

Fili let out a laugh. “Uncle, the hobbit is a stupid one. He lets the world see what he lets them see! He hide behind his magic and that idiotic grin we all love so much. I assure you, he is upset. He didn’t even make fun of the fact he walked in on me trying to please myself! HE is quite upset over it all because he knows not what his own heart wants and he is trying to figure you out.

“Do you want to court him? He is a handsome hobbit after all. Smart and funny, very loving, his hair is super soft and great for braiding. If I didn’t have Haldir i might steal him for myself!”
