Some people playing the DLC rn have never played Eggmanland from Sonic Unleashed and it shows.

To be fair, I ALSO think the DLC is holistically too hard (it’s unforgiving on hard mode and, at some points, even on easy). I was stuck on master king for 9 hours. But I’ve seen people say that the DLC is unrealistic for a child as if Sonic has never been this hard before.

Sonic Unleashed is difficult. Sonic 06 (for a number of reasons) is difficult. Hell, Sonic Adventure 2 is difficult. All of the classic games, to a degree, are difficult. This is also an optional, free story. It can be entirely bypassed, if needed.

Sonic is a franchise that challenges you. It dares you to push past your limits because that’s the whole entire thesis of these stories (quite LITERALLY for Sonic Frontiers).

The beautiful thing about being a child is that you have resilience. You will get up and try again. Something we can learn from children (and this franchise) is that it’s okay to fail. Pace yourself.

It’s okay to struggle and complain about your struggle. That’s a good thing, in fact. But this isn’t new.

stobotnik fic where agent stone starts having day to day chitchats with one of the badniks. it cant speak back of course, but its just nice to have something to talk at.

he tells it about robotnik and how he wonders if todays mint chocolate latte might be more appreciated than the raspberry snd cinnamon of yesterday - sure its a bit of a common flavour, but it's a classic for a reason, right? he talks about how the general pushing deadlines is something he hates because of how it stresses the doctor out. sure, ivos a genius and he can do whatever he puts his mind to, but theres no need for such pressure and it prevents him from doing everything he could woth the idea. he gushes how he thinks the doctors brilliant and how he hates when people talk down to him or think he's just the basement nerd the higher ups bring out for silly tech work.

but what stone doesnt know is that every day, the badnik trundles its way to robotnik and replays all these little diary entries to him like theyre some kind of information note or progress report. at first ivo thinks its funny that his agent is so oblivious and prattling on about such mundane things, even if its not great that he is so oblivious since surely he has to know that the badniks are loyal to him and the doctor has ears everywhere - ears which, more often than not, are the very badniks stone is pouring his heart to. he thinks about telling him, but he doesnt and keeps listening to them in case stone drops anything juicy - mainly, if he's letting any info leak to the generals. but after a while it stops becoming about that (of course it does, he can keep waiting all he likes but it becomes plain as day that stone is unwaveringly loyal to him, even he can't deny it) and eventually ivo just likes listening. stone woukd never say any of this stuff to his face andnits nice to get a read on the agents inner thoughts. its... sweet how much he cares about the little thing, like how much ivo likes his coffee experiments.

tl;dr - stobotnik idea where stone treats a badnik like his bestie, but the badnik reports all the convos to robotnik, who falls in love with stone through these diary entries.

All the Classic Sonic character designs just look like squishy erasers you could put on to your pencils.

I mean look at them! They look like they’d be one inch tall and i could squish them between my thumb and finger, and no matter how flattened they get they’ll pop right back into shape, and they’ll make squeaky toy noises. They’re so squishy looking.

i totally missed out on doing a drawing for eid al-adha last month, but i thought it would still be cool to share some of the other eid outfits i made for all these pals earlier this year! they were very fun to draw!

I don't go into my town centre often but today I did and I managed to find a pretty sizeable sonic haul:

Now I'm not a collector but I am starting to pick up most Sonic stuff I see since that is my special interest. So today we got:

-Sonic Colours (Wii) I've owned this game before but don't have my copy anymore. Good to add this back to my collection.

-Sonic Rush Adventure (DS) I've also played this game a lot through... Non-legitimate means. One of my favourites. Glad I found it!

-jakks Pacific Cream the Rabbit. Not rare. But I have a few other neat figures. They had tons of others in stock but I limited myself to one, and I like this figure a lot! She's cute!

-Sonic Heroes (GCN) I mean I've played pretty much every Sonic game so of course I've played this. But good to add it to my collection of GameCube sonic games, which at the moment is just this and SA2 Battle.

-Sonic the Hedgehog (Mega Drive) The star of the show. We don't really have any retro gaming stores in my town, but managed to find this with Heroes at a Collectors DVD store. In the box, with the cart and manual! Super good condition too and relatively cheap, only £15. I'm not big on the collectors scene so that may be a bad deal but I've never seen one in the wild before and I mean come on. That's pretty awesome.

All in all super happy with this. Still always on the lookout for a select few games (most notably Sonic Colours DS and Sonic Adventure DX) but I'm always finding new stuff!

It's amazing how a few details can change the entire look of the stage

Spring Yard could've been one of the final stages of the game according to the level select in the prototype we have. That makes perfect sense to me, since had a lot of ominous neon buildings and a darker starry sky, similar to how the likes of Casino Night from Sonic 2.

Speaking of which...

This version of Casino Night looks so evil and I can't quite explain why. These bright blues and pinks look very artificial, it's a reminder of how removed the player is from nature.

The background also has these green buildings in the distance, creeping from the darkness in an ominous way, if feels like Sonic is completely surrounded!

The finalized Casino Night feels much wider, the buildings aren't dark shapes towering Sonic, instead, they are all shining there in the distance. The foreground also has a more grounded palette, feeling a lot less "unnatural" and "wicked" and more like an actual casino.

While I prefer the finalized version of these stages, these older incarnations have a very interesting vibe!
