Maia and her fox friend, for @bleaksqueak! I'd meant to post these a while ago, but then my computer started shotgunning problems. But we are here at last!

I made two versions, mostly because i had sparkly inks i wanted to test. here are some detail shots!

maia is the witchy mc of @bleaksqueak's comic solivaga, captured here just a millisecond before registering the horrors. her face in the next millisecond was less flattering.

Set in a supernatural world of magi and maven, Solivaga is an ongoing dark fantasy story following the travels of those tasked with the impossible: saving the Veil itself from its inevitable decay.

Besieged by a ravenous lifeform seemingly birthed from a mounting glut of corrupted aether, the denizens of the veil seclude themselves within safe zones to live their lives away from the realities of ever-encroaching oblivion. One young magi found such solace in her own problems: magic that won't manifest, a looming graduation, and a few twitchy phobias that don't lend well to life in a magic world... until she found herself face to face with the very eye of the oncoming storm— and should she choose to accept its offered hand, fate will bind her name to its cause, magic or no magic, graduation or no graduation, and phobias eternal unto death! ...or perhaps she's being melodramatic about mandatory tutoring under the worst possible tutor. But hey— at least she's got a cute fox familiar. A world with magic foxes in it can't be so bad off, right?

My reality has always been my own. Since I was a little girl, I've lived in my own little world, oblivious to what was happening around me. The fact that I can't connect with the outside world still bothers me.

It's not just daydreaming or some fancy stuff. It's more like a complete disconnect from other people, as if we're living on different wavelengths. Now that I'm older, I worry that I don't feel enough. No matter how many therapy sessions I go through, it feels like I can't share the weight on my shoulders.

I feel like half a human, like something's broken inside me. I know there's something off, maybe not entirely wrong, but it's distressing. The only company I really enjoy is my own. Other people bore me easily, and I don't find them interesting on a deep level. It's not that I think I'm better than them, I just can't stand being around them. I simply don't care about them; they require too much effort, and I'm tired. It's frustrating to see how effortlessly others form and maintain relationships while I struggle to bond. I can't figure out what it is about them that makes it so difficult for me.

And maybe that's the kicker—I don't think I've ever truly bonded with anyone. Not my parents, not my siblings, or anyone else. Now that I think about it, it's always been just me.
