A sketch, yes.
But only a sketch because I fear of ruining this if I continue further.

Persona 4 Pachinko Hell
I have (finally) registered for Sega Sammy's 777 Town online service which lets you play from their catalog of digital pachislot and pachinko machines. Persona 4 is one of the available machines.
When you start the game, you can select a character to use as an avatar (there's the IT + human Teddie + Nanako to pick from), and that character will also become the machine's voice over.
Then you start "playing" and a billion silver balls rain down from the top and go into the holes on bottom. If a ball lands in the correct hole, then you get to spin the slot machine, which looks like this:
Tumblr media
The objective, more or less, is to match 3 numbers on the slot machine, but the machine throws a billion animations, probability events, etc, that make it way less straightforward than playing a regular slot machine with reels. The blue Persona cards on the bottom of the screen here represent how many pulls I have at the slot machine.
Gasp there's even animations and character art of Funky Student and Ms Sofue:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The player randomly travels around the Inaba world map like in-game. These animations of the map and the protagonist walking around a location on the map play while you are rolling balls and collecting slot machine pulls:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you're at the Dojima house, the slot changes to Nanako and she dresses up as everyone:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you get 2 of the same number on the left / right reels, then the game enters "reach" mode, aka "Almost Jackpot" cause you're 1 number away from winning a jackpot:
Tumblr media
And what happens then is an animation will play where the number you need is dangled in front of you and the RNG determines whether you get it or not. And of course, you never fucking get it because fuck this game!!!
Tumblr media
Some of the events and animations that play when you hit the Almost Jackpot include:
The crossdressing contest where Yu winning = number you need and Teddie winning = wrong number.
A character fighting a Shadow where they use an attack to "fight" the number you don't need, then they usually fail to defeat the number cause yeah fuck RNG.
Kanji trying to knit a stuffed animal, and he botches it entirely so you get the wrong number.
Etc.
I triggered a "hidden" game mode twice, which led to Amenosagiri coming out and filling the town with fog:
Tumblr media
During fog mode, the background changes to a remix of The Fog that goes pretty hard, and the slot reel characters change to everyone's Shadow (except Narukami; he just puts his glasses on cause lmao there's fog out).
ANYWAY, I met Adachi's NPC randomly at the Central Shopping District!
Tumblr media
I've never played pachinko before but this game pisses me off because I very quickly understood that the unique animations and "everything is fully voice acted" is definitely part of the appeal (it works on me, I'm pathetic). Also I'm salty that there's a remix of The Fog is LOCKED TO A RANDOM PROBABILITY EVENT IN A FUCKING PACHINKO MACHINE SDJSDFJLSJKF.
If you'd like to see some clips of Adachi in pachinko, check out these videos on YouTube cause there's no fucking way in hell I am getting lucky enough to see either of these events lol.

Girlie you KNOW the iceskating has been a priority for us (28)
JSA on Ice
Courtney places both hands on their lunch table the first Monday after the holiday break. “In the spirit of the new year, friendship and reconciliation, Cameron has offered us to join him at his new ice rink after school today. Unless you are grounded or dying, I decree presence is mandatory.”
Beth and Rick blink at Courtney.
Yolanda sets down her sandwich. “I dunno Court. Ice-skating? Do you seriously trust me with knives on my feet?”
Rick scoffs. “Do you seriously trust Cameron not to slap me with a restraining order from the Mahkent Estate?”
The three turn their heads to Beth. She twirls her spoon into her steaming leek soup. “Why am I always the deciding vote?”
Rick straightens in his chair, looking like he wants to stuff the words back into his mouth. “She’s right,” he says. “We always do this to her. It’s not fair.”
Yolanda coughs, covering her mouth with the back of her palm. “Simp.”
“I never said this was a vote.” Courtney sat down in her seat. “Instead of patrol, we’re skating. All of us. And we will be on our best behaviour.” She uncaps her apple juice and takes a swig. “It’s gonna be fun.”
“Okay. Whatever. One problem, Court? I don’t have skates.”
“Me neither,” Yolanda chimes in after Rick.
Courtney pauses mid-chew. “Oh.” She wrinkles her nose and swallows. “I’m sure it’ll be fine. Cameron will take care of all the details.”
~.~
The rink is already in use when Beth, Rick and Yolanda are shown to the backyard by a hobbling Sofus Mahkent. The three stop in their tracks. The big box beside the Mahkent gardens is a state-of-the-art newly-installed ice rink;  with aluminum bleachers, giant lamps overhead it and an installed kiosk with dozens of skates in many sizes. Cameron is on the ice, twirling around in quick succinct twirls like he’s trying out for the Olympics as Courtney watches in her gold puffer jacket on the sidelines.
“No way,” Yolanda breathes out. “How much did that cost?”
Beth twists the bag of skates in her gloved hands. “A pretty penny, I’d guess.”
Rick scowls. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
Courtney’s sixth sense must’ve gone off because she turns around and lights up at the sight of her friends. She pulls them towards the rink and dumps their stuff on the bleachers, talking a mile a minute about how happy and proud she is of Beth and Yolanda but most pointedly Rick coming. She explains that she had gone over the missing skates issue for Rick and Yolanda and had been reassured that he’s got plenty of skates in every size in anticipation of this skating party.
“Isn’t that sweet?” Courtney drops the ones intended for Rick in front of him.
He fixes her with a pained grimace. “The sweetest.”
Courtney doesn’t hear him, too busy helping Yolanda lace up her skates. Her Stargirl high-top boots have made her easily the fastest with laces.
Beth scoots closer to Rick, nudging his arm with her mitten. “Be nice.” Rick side-eyes her but doesn’t reply.
“What are you doing?” she asks when he turns the skates over, inspecting them in the winter sunlight.
He grips the top of the guard to see how firm it is. “Making sure they’re not defective.” He gives them a knock against the bleacher and inspects them again.
“I don’t think Cameron is going to give you defectives skates.”
Cameron comes to a well-timed glide on the smooth ice, stopping right at the edge. He’s dressed in a woolly black scarf over his long-sleeved grey henley. He nods at the crew with cautious optimism. “It’s nice to see you guys.”
Beth goes the polite route, sticking her hand out to shake his like this was a business meeting and not a group of classmates hanging out after school. Cameron rolls with it. “Thanks for inviting us. This looks really cool.”
“I’m glad you’re here, Beth. Really, my grandpa was happy to hear you’d be here.”
She smiles. “I’m happy he seems to be doing better too.”
Yolanda stands up once Courtney is done. She holds onto the banister and wobbles down the steps. Cameron reaches out and helps her glide onto the ice. Within a few uncoordinated strides, she gains her footing and takes off.
“You look like you have a problem,” Cameron says to Rick once they’re all on the ice. He tries to hold in a smirk but it doesn’t seem that it’s working very well.
Rick’s gripping the border for the life of him, inching at a snail’s pace. “Yeah, I have a problem. You’re telling me you have ice powers and instead of touching the ground with your hand–something that would take 5 seconds– you went and installed a thousand-dollar ice rink?”
Cameron pursed his lips. “I couldn’t make an ice rink in my backyard. It wouldn’t be regulated.”
Rick groans, completely ignoring the way he’s seconds to wiping out on his ass to continue his anti-Mahkent campaign. “You have so much money and you’re wasting it!”
“You’re wearing a $400 dollar leather jacket that Mr. Chapel gave you.”
He scoffs. “No, I’m not!”
Beth circles around, helping Rick stand up straight. “Yes, you are.”
“.....oh.”
Cameron reaches over the edge and pulls out an orange construction cone. “Think you need this, man.”
Beth accepts it as Rick scowls.
On the opposite end of the rink, Yolanda tries to attempt a toe loop jump. She lands in a check position and throws her hands at the success. Courtney claps, and Cameron joins them, performing double axels on his way like it’s nothing.
“That’s pretty good, Yolanda.”
She shoots him a half-smile. “I didn’t think it would be this easy, but I guess after a year in the wildcat suit, I’m more agile than I thought.” She glances at Courtney. “That makes sense, right?”
Courtney shrugs as if to say Beats me. I don’t know how the wildcat suit works.
“How long have you been a skater, Cameron?”
“Uh…” Cameron scratches the back of his neck. “Two weeks?”
Yolanda’s mouth parts in an O-shape. “Why’d you go and get this then?”
“He wanted to practice his powers,” Courtney explains, looping her arm around his. “Safely,” she adds, in case that wasn’t clear. Cameron smiles at her, and Yolanda silently wonders if she’s going to be stuck being a tragic fifth wheel for the rest of her life.
“Rick!”
A crash sounds from the other end of the rink as the orange cone speeds toward them.
“...Should I help him?” Cameron wonders out loud as the three turn around to watch Beth struggle to haul Rick back up to his feet.
“Rick’s not accepting your help,” Yolanda says plainly. She skates towards Rick and Beth, grabbing onto his right arm as Beth takes his left. With the two of them, they manage to get Rick off his ass. The scowl is permanently etched onto his face now as he wipes frost from his pants, sulking. “I hate skating.”
Beth’s face brightens into an endeared pout. Rick clearly did not expect that reaction, surprised when Yolanda and Beth share a glance of amusement. Yolanda puts her hand on her hip. “What’s the matter, Rick? Can’t handle being bad at something that Cameron is good at?”
“What happened to you thinking you’d slice someone with your skates?” Rick mutters, betrayed.
Yolanda shrugs, skating backwards around Beth and Rick. “I got over it. You can too. It’s fun.”
Cameron laps around them, doing another complicated twisting jump as if to show off Yolanda’s point.
“That’s what I told him,” Beth tells her. She reaches forward and takes Rick’s hands. He looks up. “Forget Cameron’s figure skating moves,” Beth says. “And forget the orange cone. Don’t be embarrassed that you’re a beginner. You’ve never skated before. It’s normal. Why don’t you just hold onto me?”
Rick doesn’t pull away and doesn’t move to the bleachers, so it seems he’s willing to give it another try.
Yolanda holds in another eye roll and swiftly spins away before she can witness more Teen Romance On Ice.  She grabs onto Courtney as she passes her by, tugging her sleeve. “Want to explore Cameron’s kitchen with me? We can get hot chocolate.”
“Yeah, I have lots of hot chocolate.” Cameron nods over to his huge house as his eyes turn white. He flicks his hand and forms an ice kiosk hot chocolate booth. Courtney and Yolanda gape at it. “You girls stay here, I’ll go get them.” Cameron doesn’t even remove his skates, leaving the rink and continuing to skate on freshly created ice underneath him.
Yolanda pinches her fingers together. “You have to admit, Court. Rick’s a little right. He is a show-off.”
“I don’t blame him! His powers are cool!” Courtney leans against the rink wall. “I think everyone deserves to show off once in a while.”
“I forgot who I was talking to,” Yolanda replies, but her voice is laced with affection. Finally, finally, Rick and Beth manage to get themselves over to the side where Courtney and Yolanda are talking.
“So?” She tries bouncing on her feet but the skates make it difficult. Courtney grins at her friends instead. “Wasn’t this a great idea?”
“It was,” Beth is quick to reply.
Yolanda nods.
Rick sighs. “It’s going to take a lot more than an overpriced ice skating party for me to be okay with Mahkent but…if you three are happy, I’m happy.”
Beth squeezes Rick’s hand. “You’re a good sport.”
“Yay!” Courtney rushes in for an awkward group hug, then tags Yolanda and bounds away. “Last one to the hot chocolate stand is on Pit Stop clean-up duty after our next JSA meeting!”

Spoilers for this week’s episode of Stargirl!
Well, bad news first: the show isn't being renewed for next season, so these next few episodes will be the last :( I'm a bit salty that the Flash was given an abbreviated season to wrap things up, but not this show…I like this one a lot more than the Flash (sad to say, because obviously I want to love the Flash show).
But a ton of stuff happened in this episode, and none of it was good for the JSA and friends. Lily (Cameron's grandmother) discovers that Cameron has been drawing Courtney, which infuriates her because the grandparents had told him to give up his art to focus on his powers…and focus on his family, as she indicates. That sets the stage for growing tensions. Cameron's kindly art teacher comes to the house, concerned about him quitting something he loves and clearly has a passion for, and Lily straight up murders him with an icicle to the chest. Sofus had been trying to persuade her to listen to what the teacher was saying before she killed him, and he's clearly troubled by the murder.
Mike and Jakeem bicker over priorities, and Jakeem manages to convince Mike that his paper route's important and that they should help Cindy with her problems because she stood up for them. Unfortunately they help by breaking into her locker and going through her stuff, but it gives them a clue about where she might be going; it seems that the Dragon King had a lab on an isolated local farm. More on that later.
Courtney and Yolanda reconcile, and Courtney later apologizes to Beth and Rick for not telling them about Cameron. However, she wants to tell Cameron the truth about the JSA and his dad, which Rick doesn't approve of but accepts. Buuuut, while Courtney's at the Mahkent house to talk to Cameron, Beth gets a potential hit on the location of the spy cams and it's pointing to the Mahkent house (she notes it could be a false positive).
And then everything deteroriates quickly. Courtney starts telling Cameron the truth, but Lily has been eavesdropping and bursts in angrily. Rick bursts in through a wall, and his emotions are out of control thanks to the hourglass. Soon Rick and Cameron are fighting each other with their powers, while Beth, Yolanda, and Artemis are fighting with Lily and Sofus. Courtney doesn't have the cosmic staff and is understandably dismayed by the whole situation, and she ends up in the crossfire. Lily yells to Cameron that the JSA killed his father. Finally, Cameron beats the absolute crap out of Rick and Lily urges her grandson to kill him, but Sofus weakly gasps that this kind of hate and anger aren't good and consumed his father Jordan, and then collapses from a heart attack. Beth has only just learned about previously unknown capabilities in her tech, and uses her gloves as defibrillators to restart his heart. Somebody calls 911 as the dust settles.
At the end of the episode Jakeem and Mike bike to the creepy farm at night, and peep through the front door but don't notice a guy dead on the floor. They go poking around an outbuilding, and meet up with the Ultra-Humanite in his ape body. Naturally they freak out when he roars at them, and he says he'll kill every one of them. It seems likely that he's been the one watching everyone and was the Gambler's killer, although it's possible those deeds were committed by an underling at his command. But full credit to the person who called the Ultra-Humanite at the end of last season, though that theory was about the U-H inhabiting Sylvester's body. I guess we'll have to see if the U-H has been manipulating or outright controlling Sylvester somehow, because the two are probably connected. It was interesting that Sylvester spoke over comm lines to the JSA but didn't actually appear this episode, and was conveniently out in the field on a search mission.
So now there are a lot of truths out in the open: Cameron knows who the JSAers are and what happened to his dad, and we (and Jakeem and Mike) know about the Ultra-Humanite. But what Cameron doesn't know is that his dad was a villain, so as far as he's concerned these kids simply murdered his noble dad. He also doesn't know his grandparents are varying degrees of villainous, although Lily urging him to kill might give him a clue if he thinks about it (emotions are running very high, so he probably hasn't thought about it). And obviously this was a terrible way of finding out the truth, and will probably mess him up. We also don't know what exactly the Ultra-Humanite's been up to and whether he does have a connection to Sylvester, but I think he must.
Have to confess that I've never liked the Ultra-Humanite in the comics because IMO he's terribly overused, but seeing him for a few episodes should be fine in the show….and since it's been cancelled, they couldn't overuse him even if they wanted to. Even I was excited to see him here. And I'm still hoping that the Mahkent family's secret will be revealed before the show ends, and that they're something like Frost Giants. We did get a hint of something bad in their history when Lily was looking at her old photo album in this episode, which seemed to show someone burned on a bonfire in front of a burning house. It seems likely that the grandparents are insular and protective of the family for a reason; maybe some family members were burned as supposed witches.
Very exciting episode with a lot of stuff happening, and I hope Sofus recovers. The art teacher's murder is really sad, because the poor guy was so nice but has been kicked around by so many villains and I'm hugely bummed about what happened to him. It's good to finally see Artemis fighting with the JSA, as I was starting to wonder if that plot had been forgotten, and she's a big help in the battle.
There will surely be a lot happening over the next four episodes, since the story has just begun to really heat up. I just hope (or wish) they have enough time to end the series in a truly satisfying manner.

I really enjoyed your recent and first ever Camney fic that you wrote, it felt very in character given the current circumstances. And since you said you're open to getting fic ideas to write I wondered if you could maybe give a shot in writing how Cameron reacts to finding out that Mr. Deisinger's dead? I know I know that you did hint at it by the end of that fic in the author's note but still, it's a subject that has me going around in circles because he was sad about finding out that his friend and art teacher that supports his love for art and knows what it means to him (the others one being Courtney and I dare to say Sofus) was sent to a psychiatric ward in S2 thanks to Eclipso but now he is gone (at least it seems so, still can't shake over why his eyes went Paintball when he died) so that must have an effect on him. Remember what he said back then? "Why do bad things keep happening to good people in this town?" So like, yeah, I'd love to read Cameron realizing Paul is dead and it could've been by his grandma's hands. Whether you want to extend it and give it a mentioning of Camney is up to you but all in all I'd be down to reading it because I'm not sure these final 3 episodes will even have the time to address that with Jordan and Ulra-Humanite being now the focus. (Or even other stuff like Mike's closure with his mom that Pat was trying to reach and I could go on with other stuff) so yes, please write that one! :D
youtube
Anon I’m glad you liked that fic so much but I did not write it, @hournites did. I AM the person who is accepting fic requests for next week so sure, I can do that. But! Just to clear things up!
@hournites = ThatKillerVibe on AO3, frequent collaborator on fics, podcast cohost, close friend of mine
@bluevalleybreakingnews = HeroicWeatherConditionsOfTheUniverse on AO3, has a Camney fic (it’s technically a S3 spec fic but there is PLENTY of Camney) that’s currently up and probably my best work after Broken and Blue (co-written by TKV).
Thanks for the rec, I will add it to my list! And thanks for reading my and TKV’s fics!

HARALD GIERSING MODERNISM
Linking my illustrative style to places where each fairytale originates from, I wanted to look at Danish art, and one particular movement which intrigued me was expressionism and modernism.
Tumblr media
“MODERNISM REFERS TO A GLOBAL MOVEMENT IN SOCIETY AND CULTURE THAT FROM EARLY DECADES OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY SOUGHT A NEW ALIGNMENT WITH THE EXPERIENCE AND VALUES OF MODERN TRADITIONAL LIFE”
- TATE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One artist whose work I really admired for its bold flat colours and abstract shapes was Harald Giersing, a danish painter. I believe this style would be well executed using oil pastels instead of paints to encapsulate the textures Giersings art projects. Additionally, Giersing includes very angular and blocky shapes within his art, which I tried to imitate in my illustration by eliminating this ‘flow’ through the curtains and duvet. Achieved through simply messily applying the pastels, I really love the effect. Furthermore, this was one of my first oil pastel illustrations and its fair to say I love the blendable yet messy effect which almost creates an abstract ‘loose’ feel.
