he knows english easily bc it's his native tongue, specifically BRITISH/OLD ENGLISH

but anything else takes the gears in his mind to start churning so he can't just take something in mandarin and quickly translate it to english

I can't, I wanted to finish coloring everyone first, but. I just can't NOT yap about at least one of them. So um. Matsu. He's my favorite I think?

(his necklace and nail polish are the colors of the unit members! I haven't come up with a unit name yet tho,,)

On the left there is Toshiro's (they/he) hand (they're the unit's leader) and on the right is Fumi (she/they) (who's kinda Matsu's friend from middle school)

I love him soooooo much, I may have projected onto him a little with the whole sea autism thing but uhm. I'm not going to give any of them canon labels (except for pronouns) (I want it to be kinda like pjsk itself, but I also just want to be able to play around with ships and their identities), but!!! More about Matsu. Despite not REALLY giving him any labels, he's very much intended to be autistic. He's insane abt marine life (the projecting part lmao) and especially sharks and ESPECIALLY thresher sharks (which is the shark I doodled there beside him with uh other stuff!). Currently he's geberally pretty cheerful and excitable, actually never shuts up, he starts talking and then it's just. Forever. (Not neg I love him so so so so much). He used to kinda get bullied in middle school and Fumi was a very timid child back then and was afraid she'd also get bullied, so she just coudknr bring herself to help, and she kinda blames herself for that right now, she grew to be very confrontational and a bit overprotective of Matsu, and I have like a whole part of the story planned about them coming to terms with everything and learning to not treat Matsu almost as a child as they kinda tenda to do, and I just love these two so much. Am I making sense? Idk this is just a stream of whatever I have going on). By the way!!! The fourth character Seina (she/her) who's completely out of frame in this cropped pic usually keeps Fumi's confrontational and slightly aggressive nature in check, she's overall very caring BUT of course I put some sad story there ue ue whatever (not whatever, I'm insane about her, but I'll talk about Seina more when I finish her part of the reference).

I haven't thought THAT much about these guys' relationships with canon characters, but since we're on the topic of Matsu (are we?? idk at this pojnt), I think at some point he met Emu and they got along pretty well! Maybe even became friends!!! I think they match each other's energy pretty well, even if with all his excitableness (is that a word in english idk) Matsu is still calmer than her, they definitely have some autism to autism comunication going on. Oh!!! Also. I started thinking about the characters' habits and quirks, and I think Matsu would make EXCESSIVE eye contact. This is partially from the impact left not only by ppl bullying him, but just yknow ppl around him as he was growing up. He's learning to be comfortable with not restricting himself around his friends, but *because* he learned that it's pretty much one of the only ways to at least somewhat fit in growing up, it's hard for him. But they care about each other so so so much and I love them. I just started talking about everyone somewhere along the uhh this whole ramble, so Toshiro!!! I haven't said much about them yet. They're actually partially inspired by my super cool and awesome aunt in some aspects of appearance and behavior, but I still piled a bunch of my own stuff to not just copy a real person,,,, anyways. He's the group leader, he pretty much brought everyone together? They all kinda had some sort of connection to each other previously to forming the unit, but uh. I haven't come up with exactly *how* they're gonna end up as a. Group? Band? Ehatever they are. I think I focused way more on their personalities so far, woops. But I'll get there eventually. Anyways. Right, Toshiro. I haven't developed them as much YET, but geneeal appearance stuff: they have vitiligo, pink-ish hair? Overall mostly a pink colorscheme (they're all color-coded yay). He's pretty into crystals and spirituality in general, also has some physical stuff going on (but I haven't exactly figured out what yet), he can't do a lot of physical activity, has kinda weak bones (Seina helps him out a lot when he needs it!!!), Toshiro is overall pretty energetic and tries his best in everything, tho tends to overwork himself a lot bc he's dead set on getting better at everything and making people around him proud and just being reliable. I also plan on expanding on this in the later story, I think so far the themes I put in their unit have a lot to do with letting go of the past (they ALL have that in common), not letting others' expectations ruin you, accepting yourself, all that. I was kinda worried they were walking too close to N25 at first, but I think it's all good actually, esp when I later expand on their story,,,, oh right also Seina. I think she's my second favorite, she's. I love her. ik I said I'm bot giving them any canon labels, but Seina and Fumi are so lesbians and so I love to me. And also I get arospec vibes from Seina BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT I SHOUDL BE TALKING ABOUT. She's kinds the mom friend of the group, always taking care of everyone. As i mentioned, she helps Toshiro with physical tasks when he needs it, keeps Funi out of trouble and also helps Matsu in socially overwhelming situations MY CAT JUST FELL OH MY GOD ok ok she's okay, anyways. But Seina had "failed" to helo a friend in the past, so now she's a bit obsessed with being helpful to everyone as much as she possibly could, or else she feels useless and worthless. And guess what I also plan a whole arc expanding on it and eventually the other members comfort her and they all work on it and the others try to also take care of her, and of course it takes a lot of time, but I like the idea of her uhh healing? Development idk, THIS bring shown slowly and over time. Okay. I think I finished yapping *for now*

I haven't come up with their virtual singers, name of the unit, sekai and A LOOOOTT of other stuff yet, but uhm. I have so many ideas oh god

and id LOVE to see all of their designs when youre done with them and THE COLOR CODING!!! I LOVE COLOR CODING SJDHHFJD this is just. awesome i dont even have words just pure excitement at this point

Posting to expand on just what my au is/what's going on. It's not simply a human remake, though it did start out that way. Chronologically:

Draxum hates humanity. That much is canonical to the show. But where it diverges in my au is his process of making mutants. Instead of taking animals and mixing their DNA with people(Lou specifically), he took "abandoned" human eggs to mix with Lou's DNA to form an embryo and *then* mix it with animal DNA. However, after doing the Lou portion first is when Yoshi was able to break free, taking the test tube babies with him. So they weren't able to be mutated, and neither was he.

The age differences went like this: Draxum used Raph's egg as a test to see if it worked. Once the embryo stabilized, he then did Donnie and Leo, and a few months into their incubation was Mikey. He had been waiting until they were born babies to mix them with animal DNA, but due to his ignorance on baby care Raph had a sickly period and the entire thing was shoved off.

How did they not recognize their father as Lou Jitsu? He's old! In my au he was Lou from age 20 to 28, trapped in the battle nexus until age 34/35, and then it's another 13 years until his sons find out he's Lou Jitsu. So he definitely looks different. And that's intentional, on his part. He was wanted by not only Draxum but Big Mama, and thus the entire Hidden City authorities on her payroll. He grew out his hair, restyled it, dressed much less flashy. And raising 4 sons all alone as a criminal put some greys in his hair, for sure.

Are there still mutants in the au? Of course! That entire aspect is the same, minus the fact the boys and Splinter are mutants. Though, because of their whole "we're the children of two presumably dead people and also live in the sewers", they're just as tolerant. Also, Piebald is a mutant still.

Who is their mother/egg donor? An original character named Cyra Raheem. She was a founder and data analyst for a software development company, which is a fancy legal way of saying she was a "hacker". She'd stored and frozen her eggs in the hope that she'd one day have the free time for children, but disappeared sometime shortly after Lou Jitsu was taken into yhe Battle Nexus. The eggs stayed frozen for a few years after, until Draxum sought a maternal "donor", and her past high status in illegal spaces caught his attention. Finding out she had eggs in cryopreservation was a treat, really.

What happened to Cyra? She was looking into Big Mama(who she thought was human) after Lou went missing, by request of Sho, and when BM caught wind of it, Cyra went missing for quite a few years.... And who knows what happened to her in that time?(I do. I know)

Why are they in the sewers if they're human? As previously mentioned, both Cyra and Lou are considered legally dead. The boys' existences are unexplainable to the average person. And Yoshi is wanted by BM and her police force, which can and do roam the surface. Just to be safe, he kept them underground.

How'd they meet April? The same way I consider their meeting in the show, which is basically PHEEBS fic. But obviously Leo isn't kidnapped as a giant turtle spectacle, so in this it's a bit darker..he was kidnapped for human trafficking reasons because of his "unique"(barf) skin and eyes.

If they're not turtles, how will they withstand the fights? Uhh.. fiction magic...? They do the same stunts they would in the show and everything, but as humans they'd get hurt significantly worse. So a mix of fiction magic and unseen recovery periods.

How can they take blows to their back that a shell would protect? See above question.

What's the equivalent to Donnie's shell being weaker/softer? A few things, actually. More sensitive skin and nerves on his back, for starters. His mother, with more widespread/"stronger" vitiligo, had a few other health issues/autoimmune disorders. Donnie unfortunately inherited them: mild rheumatoid arthritis and symptoms of multiple sclerosis(mainly affecting his eyes, bones, and balance).

What happens to the turtles left behind? Draxum hadn't bought them yet! So no turtles were harmed in the destruction of the lab

And as for anything in the future or plot related, I can't/won't answer..

Okay so this is def not canon because I don't really think there's an afterlife or whatever but *throws this at y'all*

It was tranquil, passing on their power. After watching years of rocky transitions, power held for too long it corrupted, the unfortunate result of a promise between lovers, and the love of their life having hers cut short, Samira didn't have high hopes for what would come next for them.

Yet, it was, against all odds, peaceful. Between one moment and the next their power had moved on and so too had they. To the beyond, where they had no idea what would come next.

And so Samira stared at a quiet void, unlike the space they once called home. It was seemingly made of fog, soft and swirling in an invisible wind, beckoning towards an unknown destination. Given they had nowhere else to be, they followed, noting their form.

It was a strange mix of their mortal body and immortal power. Silvers mottled and mixed with dark shades in the same vitiligo they'd lost in eternity. They rather liked it.

Eventually the path came to a clearing, the fog turning to a sort of beach, lapping waves of the same substance with that soft sound that never failed to soothe, even when the grief ached too much to bear. Samira sat, contemplating.

The new pantheon would be alright, Mariza had managed to even out into something resembling a competent deity. Aphelion had passed eventually, so too did Star, new gods fixing the voids they'd left in their respective absences and madnesses.

They had nothing to worry about. Not in this "here". Wherever this was.

"Well, it's been some time, hasn't it?"

A familiar voice called out from the beyond, and Samira bolted upwards, searching for the source until they saw her.

Indra. Her eyes (only two of them) twinkling with delight. A grin on her face as she peeked above the water's depths, rising up until she stood a mere breath away.

Samira couldn't hold back, running into Indra's arms and holding her close.

"Oh my dear Indra," Samira choked out, "You're as beautiful as the day I lost you."

They stood like that for what could have been seconds, or what could have been years, it didn't matter. Samira was... happy. Unabashedly so, for the first time in so long.

"It's good then," Indra replied, "that we're not going anywhere then, isn't it?"

It was. Moons and stars it was.

Hurrah we have another three, and there are only three left after this!

Kaalki, Xuppu, and Ziggy are yet another three kwami's of the third/outer ring of the Chinese Miracle box. For more information on this ring, please visit my post here.

Starting off we have Kaalki: Kaalki is the kwami of teleportation and presents as female. She wears a mixed outfit that would have been worn by horsemen, but also performers throughout different generations in the Chinese regions. She only grants one power to the wielder of the horse miraculous, Voyage, which allows them to create a portal and open a gateway that leads to wherever they'd like. She has these powers herself, of course, though she can use it much more quickly and can travel further distances. This version of Kaalki strays way further away from what's canon in the show. In canon, she's sort of snobby and "womanly", I'd say, with a high ego and stuff like that. However, in my rewrite, I wanted to make her feel more connected to a horse. If you've ever met people with horses, or own them yourselves, you know that most of us wouldn't act in such a feminine, "city girl" way. So here, Kaalki is a tom boy. She's stubborn and blunt but works really hard on tasks she is given. She is strong willed and it is hard to force an opinion on her. She will stand her ground, and she's not afraid to get messy, which is why I gave her choppy hair as to signify. Hahah character designs.

Fun fact: Kaalki is the only kwami who has vitiligo.

Next with Xuppu: Zuppu is the kwami of jubilation and presents as male. I don't know the name of the outfit I gave him because in my notes for the kwamis I wrote, and I quote, "p a n t s". So I guess I was really excited that I gave him pants or something so sorry, I don't remember the history tied to it. Whoops. He only grants one power, Uproar, which gives the wielder of the monkey miraculous the ability to disturb/malfunction/mess with/alter an opponents power/ability, basically screwing everything up for them. It's the ultimate uno reverse. Xuppu has these powers himself, and can even screw with the powers of other kwamis if he's feeling like it. We're going to assume we know what Xuppu's personality was like in the show. I've made him a jokester. He likes to play pranks, even when they go to far. He's an absolute troll. He encourages risky, outrageous behavior of others, and laughs in the face of trouble and consequence. He's like that one kid in the class who will make inappropriate jokes again and again, even under the threat of being sent outside. He just doesn't care, everything is a joke to him. He likes entertaining people, and wants to be the center of attention at all times. He likes wielders who have a sense of humor, and absolutely despises seriousness.

Fun fact: Xuppu is arguably the most human looking kwami within the Chinese Box.

Lastly, Ziggy (fun fact I have a cat named Ziggy lol): Ziggy is the kwami of passion, and presents female. Her dress comes from the Song dynasty, and is very very colorful as she adores vibrant colors. She only grants one power, Genesis, which allows the wielder of the goat miraculous the ability to create whatever they want, so long they know enough about it to make it. (Unlike Ladybug's Lucky Charm which creates something useful for the situation at hand, the wielder of the goat has to think of something on their own without knowing whether it'll be the solution to the problem or not) Ziggy has these powers herself, though she rarely uses it for fear of looking selfish. We know nothing about Ziggy from canon, I can't even remember if she was really a girl or not so you know what? We're just gonna go for it. Ziggy is somewhat timid and shy, but she's very smart and quick on her feet. She likes people who are in control of their lives, and know exactly what they want and how they're gonna get it. She's sort of like a Slytherin, thusly, the people she chooses to wear her miraculous are often cunning, ambitious, passionate, and usually creative. She's an artist, and has filled Master Fu's sanctuaries over the years with her artwork which he will later sell to keep the place functioning. She's happy to support, as she prides herself on her helpfulness.

Fun fact: Ziggy rarely ever picks a wielder because she fears people will only use the power for selfish and greedy reasons, such as generating a hoard of money.
