and what an excellent question, anon!! it made me grin so much when i first saw it, because if there's one thing i absolutely LOVE, it's talking about my ship opinions/characterisations/headcanons, etc etc. ESPECIALLY lately, when my writing brain is a bit offline, and all i can do is think and daydream...
anyways. SO: to actually answer your question, dear anon, i honestly think that a very compelling argument could be made for having this both ways around. it depends on the setting you're going for (canon-adjacent or AU, the specific background of that fic, etc etc...)
with that said, though - personally, i have a big soft spot for "charles fell first, pierre fell harder." i love the idea of charles (who, perpetual middle child that he is, always looked up to & admired pierre when they were younger) then growing up and realising that fuck, pierre has been different to everyone else all along, and it's because charles has loved him all along. simultaneously, pierre grows up to be a bit of a whore (affectionate) and he sleeps with a whole bunch of people until it SUDDENLY hits him, almost out of the blue, that the only person he wants forever is charles.
and like this excellent post said: charles has been living with his feelings/trying to ignore them for much longer, while pierre is hit by them full-force out of the blue - and he proceeds to be incredibly possessive and insane about charles. (that, incidentally, is ALSO one of my most favourite tropes - pierre being possessive and insane about charles.)
so yeah! i am definitely on team "charles fell first, pierre fell harder" - but like i said, i do think this trope can be done BRILLIANTLY no matter which way around you do it!

Being insecure in a relationship- Lysander, Castiel, Armin
Hey anon! Wasn’t sure if you meant being insecure with the boys or the boys themselves being insecure so i wrote both!
Being insecure with Lysander
I think Lysander is probably the boyfriend you’d feel the least insecure with, he’s already constantly reassuring you and making it known how much he adores you, and it’s not something he’s doing on purpose either. It just kind of comes natural to him. He’s very much a “I only have eyes for y/n” and he makes that very clear!
If for whatever reason you are feeling insecure, you never have to be afraid or nervous to tell Lys, he’s a very understanding and empathetic man. It may catch him off guard a bit, because it should be obvious how much he adores you. But he won’t ever be upset with you, and instead may wonder what he did to make you feel that way. He would hate it if he crossed a boundary or maybe neglected you in some way!
But I guess it also depends on what you were feeling insecure about specifically. Were you jealous of someone? Maybe feeling insecure about yourself?
If you’re feeling badly about yourself he would immediately stop what he’s doing to cup your face with his hands and look at you with a softness in his eyes, “My dear you never have to feel that way around me, you’re truly perfect the way you are and I love every part of you no matter what.”
If you’re simply feeling jealous or a little insecure in the relationship he thinks it’s a bit cute and will still reassure you, he may think it’s a bit silly but he also understands that human emotions are funny like that. “I only have eyes for you, love. I promise.”
Lysander being insecure
I think Lysander is someone who is for the most part, very sure of themselves. I think it’s a bit difficult to get him feeling really insecure. Jealous, sure. We’ve seen our man get jealous quite quickly throughout the story. But if he was insecure I think it would stem more from him feeling like he isn’t enough for you, or maybe he isn’t satisfying your needs in the relationship.
He knows moving from the city life to farm life within the span of a few months is quite the change, so sometimes he finds himself wondering if you truly are enjoying life with him on the farm like you say you are. He knows you sometimes miss the city and being close to your friends, and he feels a bit sad that he can’t exactly provide that seeing as you guys are four hours away from it all.
I think he wouldn’t be afraid to bring it up, but more so just afraid of your answer. The last thing he’d want to hear is that you aren’t happy here, and that you may want to leave because of it. “Y/N, are you happy here? Are you happy with me, on the farm, living a quiet village life?” Truly, this man would do anything to keep a smile on your face. God, I love him.
I think Lysander would respond well to reassurance with words. You sitting him down, looking him in the eyes and confirming you’re happy with him. And then maybe a sweet soft kiss on the lips to let him know you love him.
Being insecure with Castiel
With Castiel there’s definitely more cause to get a little jealous, insecure. He’s got a shit ton of fangirls that are just jumping at the chance to get at him, so it can be a bit overwhelming at times! Now I don’t think Castiel would entertain any of that, he would try to keep it as polite as possible with his fans while also having firm boundaries. So I don’t think it’s the fans who make you insecure. I think it would be a fellow artist. Specifically a female artist.
Castiel can get pretty passionate when it comes to music, and if he collaborates with an artist that he really clicks with he can get really excited and will talk about it quite frequently, because he just wants to tell you everything. But he doesn’t realize it can come off a bit… aggravating to hear him talking so highly of another girl all the time? “She’s awesome and super talented, you gotta meet her sometime. And did you know she- blah blah blah.” And of course in this case it wouldn’t help if she’s like, super fucking pretty??
He really is not doing it in a malicious way, poor guys genuinely just really excited about the new music they’ve got in the works lol. I think when you tell him how you’re feeling at first he’s a bit taken aback, and maybe even a little confused but then you bring up how he’s constantly talking about her and he’s just kinda mentally like “...Ooooh shit.”
His first instinct is to tease you about it but depending on how upset you are he’ll be more mature about it. “I’m sorry baby, I didn’t mean to make you feel insecure. I can see how that might've been upsetting for you. I’m just really excited about what we’ve been working on.” He’ll peck you on the lips and then embrace you while smothering your neck with kisses. "...But it's cute that you're jealous."
Castiel being insecure
I think Castiel can be a bit insecure due to the fact that he’s away a LOT due to the band. That leaves plenty of time and space for you to find someone else. And he doesn’t want to be that guy but sometimes he does have a small voice in the back of his head wondering if you’ve cheated on him at all during those times he was gone. See, he KNOWS he can trust you. But the poor man has a tad bit of anxiety. He would never accuse you though unless he had solid evidence or reason.
I think he would just be insecure because he isn’t there for you the way he wants to be, and that really does eat him up inside. He tries to make up for it by sending gifts, letters, flowers, chocolates etc. allll the time.
But because he is kind of an idiot, I don’t think he would ask for reassurance, I think he would jump straight to giving you the opportunity to dump him lmfao “Y/N, I know me being gone is hard on you sometimes. And I don’t want to hold you back, so if this isn’t something you want to do anymore I completely understand and respect your decision.” Ughhhh he’s so dumb.
I think he would really appreciate physical reassurance along with verbal, because it helps him feel safe and loved when you wrap your arms around him and hold him tight.
Being insecure with Armin
Armin is a great boyfriend, he’s funny, he’s sweet, and is so charismatic. So charismatic in fact, that it sometimes can come across to other people as him being flirtatious. And the most annoying part is that he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it because…well, he isn’t! To him, he’s just having a casual conversation with a girl who is interested in playing DnD, but little does he know (and so, SO obvious to anyone watching), the girl is clearly just trying to get him to take an interest in her. The way she’s twirling her hair and slightly poking out her chest… Armin PLEASE-
But, thankfully, he is also the kind of guy to “my girlfriend this, my girlfriend that…” so at some point during this conversation he’s probably like “You know what, you and my girlfriend should talk about this some more because she would love to have another girl to play with!” He turns around to look for you in the store and motions over when he spots you, “Hey babe, come here real quick!” It definitely shuts down whatever insecurity you were feeling, and it DEFINITELY discourages the girl from trying to make any more moves.
Being insecure with Armin in my opinion is something you may deal with simply because I feel like he would have a lot of female friends. But at the end of the day they are JUST friends and he makes sure to let you know that. He may be a bit annoyed at first, because “Why would you be insecure? I’m obsessed with you woman!” But he would never be upset with you, and will still do whatever he needs to do to reassure you that you’re the only one he wants. Careful though, he’s kind of a little shit. “....You’re kinda hot when you’re jealous though, babe~”
Armin being insecure
I think Armin gets pretty jealous quite easily. It’s not hard for him to start shooting daggers at anyone who looks at his girl even slightly too long. A bit problematic, but he’s working on it!! Very quick to get grumpy if he thinks you were a little too friendly with another guy lol like i said, working on it. He has gotten better!
I feel like Armin would be most insecure of the possibility of you finding another, a BETTER boyfriend than him. He knows he kind of messed up in the past with you guys and he is constantly worrying about if he’s doing okay this time around, if what he’s doing is enough for you. I feel like he wouldn’t be afraid to address it, he would bring it up immediately and very casually. Kind of often as well, like once every couple of weeks. “Are we doing okay, hon?”
“Do you need anything, baby?” “I just wanna make sure I’m keeping you happy, I don’t want to lose you again…” He’s so cute dkfjkdfjls
Honestly, just start reassuring him by thanking him, making him feel appreciated by all he’s done, and is continuously doing for you. It helps him know he’s doing something right and he enjoys making his girl the happiest in the world, so it’s a win for everyone. Maybe even return the favor once in a while, do something nice for him too!

And for some reason, BHaD takes so much longer than other stories! I think I just want this one in particular to be perfect, and that’s tripping me up.

Nina barely suppressed the urge to roll her eyes— they’d been constantly searching for nearly two days! She was too tired to waste her breath coming up with comebacks for the likes of Kaz Brekker.
And besides, she heard his heart. It was hammering away in his chest— terrified.
Instead, Nina just raised an expectant eyebrow.
There’s a property manager in the Zelver District by the name of Smeet— he does all manner of work with the assets of different merchant council members, and anyone else with secrets they can afford to pay him to hide. He handles the more conventional things, yes, but is also known in the right circles for being discreet. He likes gambling at the Club Cumulus, and has a penchant for young blondes who aren’t his wife. He takes these blondes to a set of rooms he rents in the Garden District.
And what does this have to do with me? Or Jesper and—
Patience, dear Nina. He was snide, choosing to condescend to her rather than snapping. It was absolutely worse than his usual short temper, and her chest went hot with the flush of anger. I’ll answer questions at the end.
I have it on good authority that these rooms aren’t just where he keeps secrets from his wife. They’re also where he keeps his clients' most clandestine paperwork— the things they want records of without them ending up on any official books. They’re kept in a safe behind the mirror in the bedroom. It’s bolted into the wall, has a gaudy old frame— you can’t miss it.

I, too think that they are a very close knit family even though they sometimes focus more on Perry’s feelings. I’m not saying it’s right that they do but I think it’s because perry is a little more sensitive (like how Rhett mentioned when he and royal were fixing the fence). And I think Rhett would need a partner that got along well with his family and have dinner with them often since they are so close. Do you think he would want his partner to move to the ranch or buy their own little place? Do you think he’d ever actually leave that town? Sorry this was so long lol 😂

Yes absolutely, you’re so right! And whenever Rhett brought up Perry in any negative way, his family would try and defend Perry the best they could, disregarding what Rhett had to say.
For the partner, as we saw with Maria, Rhett was desperate to leave and get out of town, but I think it depends at what point Rhett met reader.
If it was pre Outer Range I think they would stay, but maybe get their own little place not too far down from the ranch. If it was after the events of the series, I think Rhett is doing exactly what he did with Maria and promising reader to leave town.
He’s got a chance to start over and also be cleared for murder. He’s getting out as soon as he can.

-Salome. She has left comments on every single chapter of Latch that have left me in piles of absolute mush and disbelief. She always has the sweetest words to say, and I love how she picks out passages to emphasize! More often than not they're some of my favorites as well 🥰 @salome-c
-B! I always look forward to hearing B's reactions to OLAT or Latch; always so kind, sweet, and energetic, her comments make me want to run back to my laptop and keep writing right away! I'll see her url pop up in my notifs and think 'yes, this day just got better' before I've even looked at it. 💖 @literallydontlook
-@justdrawings101 has left many sweet comments in my inbox about OLAT. I found myself gushing over their words so much! And in their comment about chapter 12, they wished me well and hoped I was having fun and taking care of myself, which meant so much to me 🥺
-There have been comments messaged to me, I don't know if those folks would appreciate being tagged so I'll keep the names to myself, but they complimented my writing and rendition of Din's character in ways that had me feeling very proud of myself. Comments like those, they make me want to keep getting better so that I can create more worlds like OLAT and Latch. And they make me feel so secure about writing for Din, since I was very worried about writing him poorly!
-This wasn't technically a comment on any of my works, but a while back I reblogged a post to have people assume things about me based on my writing and one anon absolutely hit the nail on the head in ways I never expected, and I honestly took that as a compliment because it meant the message I was intending to send in my fic was actually being delivered! It was hilarious and wonderful and I still think about that anon fondly. 💖

Weirdest thing I've been inspired by? Hm...
So parts of Latch are actually inspired by a fic that I never wrote, but that I fully played out in my mind. Over the course of a few weeks last winter, I had some downtime and spent it just telling myself this story (it was a coworkers to lovers AU, in case you were wondering) in my brain and picturing every little thing as clearly as I could. This was way before I even thought of sharing any of my writing; when I did start doing that, I thought I might write this one down one day.
But when I eventually came up with the idea for Latch I decided that instead of trying to write out the entire strange mess that lived in my head, I'd borrow from it. Things like the muffins, Harley's character, Karga's position, and lots of other little details are from that original fic that I called Higher Love (Gila from OLAT originated from this fic as well!).
It had a very interesting premise as well, but I still loved it 😂

Herself’s voice getting louder and stronger PHILIP!! The voice getting more urgent and louder PHILIP!!! I just received the children’s Christmas 🎄 wish list 📝!! Not having given a thought beyond his immediate wage 💰 💴 💵 £££££crisis with Sydney, he replies, bloody hell what now!! Her Majesty replies, oh Philip, little Louis wants a postman Pat van, George want some football shirt but Charlotte wants to find a bird spider. Now talk of a classic British toy. Postman Pat and his shiny red delivery van 🚗 for the Royal Mail has been a classic for many decades and the thought that our Louis wants one is just so adorable. Something easy to find, l don’t think we should have trouble finding a postman Pat van. Gift 🎁 one sorted. Well surely Catherine will know the football team that George is so enamoured on. Himself immediately pipes up saying 🥬 cabbage, it’s Aston Villa! Aston Villa! Himself smiling broadly quite chuffed he knew that!😁😁😁Oh Philip!! EPIC!! She has taken two creatures that she likes and thinks they should be joined and there should exist something called a bird spider, 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂bless her. Sydney is totally confused 🤷♂️ a bird 🐦 spider🕷 ??😬😬😮😮😮😮😮😮🕷. Personally I think that’s a creature that just should remain in her imagination! I hate spiders 🕷. I love that they eat mosquitoes. l cannot imagine if they could fly because it’s bad enough that they can descend on their own strings that they make and you can see them hanging oh they creep me out 😮😮😮😮specially the big big body ones big-time!!! OK, I just really need to say this. I love your blog 🤘❤️ But not just because you post interesting/awesome content (which you do 👑). I love your page because it is free of hate. You are positive and respectful to all sorts of different things and I really appreciate that.  You don’t post hate about the actors, the writers, the staff, or to different facets of the fandom - and you have no idea how much relief and comfort that brings. I have honestly been scared out of this fandom numerous times because of high-tension and high-hate between the fans (which I have honestly, never understood).
You have no idea how many times I’ve seen something funny/interesting on Tumblr, clicked on the person’s account follow them, and then was immediately turned off from their account because of hate - either preached in their header, or pinned to the top of the page. I don’t think people understand how much this kind of ongoing hate sours the fandom. I am not personally a shipper or stan for any of the characters, but I don’t have a problem with fellow friends/fans who stan one character or ship another. Everyone is free to like what they like. It’s fiction. The rivalries that have been birthed within this fandom have ruined the fun little fictional escape that we all once had and have turned it into high-tension arguments. Fiction and fandom have always been meant to create a place for imagination, escape, and fun. And at this point, it often feels so toxic that I don’t ever want to venture back in.
Today, I decided to take a chance and test the waters. I was lucky enough to have clicked on your account. And I’m really grateful for that, because your blog was nothing but welcoming and fun. So I just wanted to say thank you because the way you handle your account is incredibly mature and very much appreciated.
First of all - THANK YOU! I am a total loss of words right now, i am very humbled by your compliments. Even though i am not an original content creator, i try to keep this place free of hate and bullying, cause that’s what i truly feel and i know that we can share interests and respect different pov’s of said interests, as long as it’s not hurting or offending anybody. Love and support takes a lot less energy than hate and wars, and are way more gratifying.

well, the first thing i'm going to say is - according to the people, here is your answer. charles bottoms 98% of the time, whereas pierre is 100% a switch. so it would usually be pierre tops and charles bottoms, but very occasionally, they switch it up. 👌
and you know what, i agree. the piarlies have excellent taste 😌 in my headcanons, yep, pierre tops, 9 times out of 10. to me, he just gives such cocky, confident top energy most of the time - he's all "yep, i have a big cock, and i know what to do with it" BDE. sometimes, though. sometimes he can just be such an incredible little shit, and so infuriating, but in the cutest way possible. "baby brother mode activated," as i like to call it - because he knows he's annoying, but he also knows he can get away with it, because he knows exactly how cute he is. at times like these, i feel like he just needs to be pushed up against a wall and kissed stupid. or maybe bent over a table and --[gunshots]
and as for charles - well, i mean, if you just look at charles interacting with any other man... he's not a top. or at least, not usually. he's got the biggest babygirl/pillow princess/bottom energy i have ever seen in a professional athlete, lmfao. (i adore him for it.) i do also think, though, that charles is not 100% a bottom. i mean, hell, he's a race-car driver, and he's said it himself that he can be a control freak. so i feel like sometimes - but only sometimes! - that translates into bed, and he wants to be in control. he's also fit enough (thanks for the proof, ferrari thirst traps) that he's definitely strong enough to push pierre up against things and hold him down, if he really wants to. but that's the exception, not the rule. most of the time, he's more than happy to lie back and be taken apart 😌 which works out very well, because pierre loves to top if it's charles beneath him. match made in heaven <3
36. Who's more likely to fire up the stove at 2am because the other woke up in the middle of the night hungry?
to be completely honest with you, i don't think either of them would do this with a great deal of success - purely because i don't think either of them are the very best of cooks. charles, as we know, is very proud of the fact that he can do a good pasta. but... that's also about all he can do 😆 and pierre is not a lot better, lmao. in fact, in my headcanon, his culinary skills are limited to a fry-up. so if either of them were to wake up suddenly and ravenously hungry at night, i think they'd be more likely to raid the fridge/pantry and eat whatever they can find, diets notwithstanding.
and as for who would do it for who - well, i feel like charles sleeps like the absolute dead, lmao, and takes about twenty-odd minutes to wake up properly. the chances of him being coherent enough to do anything for pierre at 2am are incredibly low. pierre, on the other hand, is probably one of those people who gets massive bursts of energy late at night. so i'm just imagining an exhausted charles trailing after a hyper pierre, trying not to fall asleep on his shoulder as pierre raids the fridge... 🥺 that is an INCREDIBLY cute image, actually, and i kind of love it. yep! that's my answer. charles would wake up at 2am and stagger down to the kitchen with pierre, but he'd be a lot less helpful and a lot more sleepy and cute. and then they would probably end up making out on the counter, because charles is just too adorable when he's all soft and sleepy like that, and pierre can't help himself. midnight snack forgotten in favour of... well, midnight dessert. heh. needless to say, that's sleeping done for the evening.
14. How do their personalities compliment each other? How do they clash?
oooooohhh, this is a fab one! and fair warning... i fucking LOVE to talk about characterisation/how these two are foils for each other, so *ahem* buckle yourself in, because this is going to be a long one.
the first point i want to talk about is a bit of a depressing one, but it's also one that i feel is very crucial to their characters. it's all about how they handle loss - and i touched on it a little bit here, when i was talking about hiding their emotions/the other being able to tell anyway. but i want to go into a bit more depth here: especially on charles. because i feel like charles is someone who has lost so much - and yet, he manages to do almost unbelievable things (like win an f2 race) right after terrible loss (his father passing away.) to me, this is a crucial part of who he is. he is able to compartmentalise incredibly effectively - he has to be, otherwise there's no way he'd still be able to race after everything he's lost. he has also said in interviews that he's all about living in the moment, and knowing how lucky he is that he gets to be where he is. so, yeah. charles is someone who handles loss by compartmentalising it, and then not dwelling on it in favour of focusing on what he does have, instead.
pierre, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. like i said in that linked post, he has a tendency to overthink, and get lost in his own head about things. if he makes a mistake, he's likely to replay it, and agonise over it to the point that it becomes worse and worse. this is, of course, the exact opposite to charles, who doesn't dwell on mistakes or losses. he just moves on to the next thing he can control - which is both a good thing, and sometimes less good, because there are times in which you need to take the time to process. so i feel like their personalities complement each other incredibly well in that aspect: when pierre overthinks too much, charles is there to ground him and help him let it go/live in the moment for a little while. at the same time, pierre is there to remind charles that it's okay to let himself overthink, just once in a while, to help him process. and since they've known each other for so long, i think they've helped each other like this a lot of times. so, yeah. that's a beautiful point of complimenting personalities there.
another point of characterisation i want to talk about is their sibling status! anyone with siblings knows alllll the sibling clichés, lmao - but the thing about clichés is they're often rooted in truth. charles is a middle child, and middle children are often the ones struggling with self-doubt and a lack of self-confidence because their older sibling gets all the praise. now, i don't think this is quite the case for charles, but then again, he did grow up in both lorenzo AND jules' shadows. that can't have been easy, and charles has confirmed in that f1 "when we were young" documentary that he's always struggled to believe in himself. we see it today still - when something goes wrong, he will always blame himself. when it goes right, he will thank the team, not himself. argh. my heart. but anyway. to contrast this with pierre! pierre, now, is a completely different story. he's a youngest child - the absolute baby of his family - and also, per that one biography of his, the "glue" that keeps the entirety of the gasly family together. he's very much adored there, and i can just imagine him being spoiled rotten, lmao. the result of this is that he has a whole fuck-ton of self-confidence, and that he's also quite used to getting his way.
clearly, this contrasts quite sharply with charles, and i can imagine them clashing over it, every so often. maybe pierre can be a little too cocky and energetic and/or needy when charles just needs a little more time to feel more settled and less self-doubting. however - and pierre and charles' own interviews support me here - i don't think they actually clash, as in fight, all that often. actually, they have said that they agree on almost everything, and very rarely argue. so, yeah. while i can imagine small, bitchy fights if they're both stressed, and getting on each other's nerves, i don't really think that they would get into very big blow-ups. also? they just care about each other too much to truly be petty. and they understand each other, so, again, it's easy to resolve fights and forgive each other. 💜
ahhh, and i could talk about characterisation for literal hours more, but i shall force myself to stop, because i do still need to get some work done today 🥲 one last little point before i go, though: another way in which i think pierre and charles are beautifully complimentary is in their shared sense of humour. i am going to link you to two videos to prove my case: here we have a tiny sauber!charles laughing his babygirl head off at jokes and puns that really aren't even funny. and here we have an equally tiny toro rosso!pierre, also giggling like crazy at dad jokes that definitely aren't that amusing. my conclusion? they share the same terrible sense of humour, and that's probably why we always, always see them laughing and giggling together. and you know how the saying goes: boyfriends who laugh together, stay together :DD <3
