#so much bait and switch #foundation #finally caught up with this show and #hm #let's just say i don't quite get the hype #it's gorgeous #it's well filmed #it's well acted #(mostly)(i can't stand mallow and the clerics)#(seriously the tonal discordance URH)#(though poly gets a pass because he doesn't feel as much like a character that'd belong in a disney!star wars)#but gods if the plot doesn't keep UNDOING its own emotional beats #also honestly if hari was able to create something like the vault from the very beginning #and the vault can SAVE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE FROM AN EXPLODING PLANET #why the fuck are we bothering making it all about psychohistory? why are we pretending?#Demerzel remains the only stable and compelling thing about this show she has yet to fail me #because it's COHERENT #new knowledge we get about her doesn't keep REWRITING previously acquired one #anyway it's not a bad show but it definitely lives neither to the hype nor the expectations of those early season 1 episodes (imo etc etc)#carrot has an opinion

In the universe of the film, there is ABSOLUTELY a contingent of fans that fervently ship Argylle/Wyatt and have the dominant ship on AO3 and trade elaborate fan theories about their hidden relationship and are convinced they’re meant to be endgame but the publishers won’t allow it. Of course, they go totally BALLISTIC when they learn they’re based on the author and her boyfriend.

#argylle #argylle spoilers #my only real complaint with argylle is that we were robbed of a henry cavill/john cena kiss #there’s so much fun to be had with the universe of this film especially in regards to the book fandom #i like to believe aidan stirs up ship drama on fandom forums and social media #the minute rachel’s spy past gets declassified it’s OVER for her in fandom lol #i can appreciate not everyone being into the film’s bait and switch #but i can’t help but love a spy film that lets the female lead be a whole women struggling to define herself #while also kicking ass and having a sweet goofy guy be head over heels for her #this really is the kind of movie that fandom could have soooo much fun with #don’t even get me started on elly/rachel projecting all of her badass spy escapades on a super manly fit dude #like if he’s done everything she’s done…girl memory-holed her own bisexuality lol

Everyone whos saying they pulled a 5 hour long bait and switch on people just for the hl2vrai trailer. It wasn't just a bit for that it was so much more than that. Everyone is switching on a dime calling it such a good joke or staying stuck mad and pissy about it. Genuinely it was a fun stream. It was something the RTVS team clearly had a lot of fun making, they put 3 years of work and planning into it. There is more to them than HLVRAI. They never directly said it would be HL2VRAI.

But honestly though. I can't blame them for teasing it as such. If YOU put 3 years of effort into something would you allow it to just get ignored by everyone because it isn't what everyone cares about you for. Or would you want to make sure all the people started liking you for it initially would see how you grew.

BrBaVRAI was the same thing that HLVRAI was supposed to be. A fun stream with friends.

It isn't just for you man. It's supposed to be something fun and if you genuinely threw a shitfit about it or if you gave up on it called it unfunny, mid, or even bad. Only to turn around once you got what you Wanted.

You do not deserve what the RTVS crew will make.

You do not deserve HL2VRAI

EDIT: Honestly I don't care about most of the shit people are upset about. Yeah its fine for them to troll you they're known for that. Don't treat their work like it was always shit up until the point they gave you the shit you were waiting for. Just because you wanted a Twix doesnt mean a Snickers doesn't taste just as sweet. They aren't morally bad people for a prank that upset you.

I love how they represent tdp's recurring threes, keys, and children's games motifs in "Bait and Switch."

The alliteration and the meter of "Squid, sails, and a hammerhead's tail" evoke a children's nursery rhyme. Ezran recites this rhyme to solve the "riddle" of the locked door to Finnegrin's office, while playing a trick on Finnegrin and stealing his secret treasure from him.

Plus these keys just look heckin' cool.

Leverage + JATP crossover AU?? Like. Imagine Eliot and Sophie specifically having to deal with Caleb Covington

-I am so tickled by this idea. Like, they didn't even die, they're still alive. Like, you know that if ghosts were real, at least Sophie and Eliot would know. Parker too, but she's just like: um what's the big deal? They're just people who died. They're still awkward to talk to. (She is pissed about the whole, they can walk through walls and don't set off alarms thing, but then she realises they can't actually steal stuff so it's fine.)

-Parker has 100% heard someone skateboarding through an empty museum while she was stealing a painting, and just been like: that's none of my business.

-Nate never knew about the ghosts because everyone who did agreed it would send him off the deep end trying to get his son back.

-Somehow, Sophie got into the club (as a guest while grifting) and somehow managed to avoid the whole 'Caleb steals your soul' thing and he's still mad about it.

-You know she 100% enjoyed the show, though. She was sad she had to slip out to finish her whole grift before midnight.

-Eliot knows about Area 51/52, he knows about the Ghosts, okay. Moreau 100% had dealings with Caleb. Eliot totally had a stare off with Caleb's Chair Twink. No he will not have anything to drink, he's bodyguarding and also his Granny taught him better than to accept food or drink from what may or may not be one of the Fair Folk.

-Hardison is NOT OKAY when he learns about the ghosts. He is even less okay when he realises the others all KNEW.

-Breanna is just super stoked that the Phantoms in Julie and the Phantoms are real ghosts.

-Things hit the fan when they realise Caleb Covington owns the soul of Willie. Either Sophie or Eliot recognises him in an old photo album Nana was showing the team (much to Hardison's embarrassment because she was showing them his old tween pictures).

-Because Willie was one of Nana's foster kids. He was only with her for a few months before he got hit by that car, but he was One of Theirs and the fact that his soul is trapped is Not Okay.

-Let's go steal back a Willie.

I'm pretty sure I've admitted it on here before, but I actually do really love The Last Jedi. I think it's a really good movie! Well made, well acted, beautifully shot, the characters and their development is compelling. I enjoy it!

I do not, however, think it's a very good Star Wars movie.

#like. i absolutely get why so many people hate it #i think a lot of it comes from just how much it doesn't really feel like a star wars movie #the stuff about the force. oh that's 100% star wars and was so refreshing to see #but the bait and switch with audience expectation? yeah. i understand why a lot of people felt betrayed #i will die on the hill that Luke's characterization is compelling and really really fun to expore #do i think it was the best choice? no. not really #but it is FASCINATING. and probably the best explination you can give for why he up and abandoned Leia #something set up in TFA #i dont think i would have been satisfied with any other answer given #'oh. Luke ditched his sister when she desperately needed him and fucked off to some nowhere planet to find some plot breaking mcguffin'#yeah no thanks #i like that luke disappeared into exile due to some precieved failure on his part. very obi wan of him #that's a reason i can actually buy #plus like. exploring a character crushed under the weight of their own legacy #thats cool. thats FUN #i saw a really good meta about Luke's tlj arc that i need to find again
