#so many conflictions from people. and then there's ppl who don't know what a line is or where it is

The reason the line "Happy or sad, why decide?" From Tear Drop sticks out to me is because it really does highlight Yuno's disdain for pity and projection
Sometimes people who think they are "empathetic" are just really stuck in projection without realizing, which is why ppl like "dArK EmPaThS" etc. use their fawning trauma as an excuse to be judgy assholes.
Like a sort of "If I was in that situation..." So like even if they Understand the Emotions they're still seeing it from THEIR pov, THEIR life experience and not the other person's.
And like. I keep thinking about how, if I want to live authentically, it's always gonna be blatantly obvious I have trauma.
But like. EVERYONE has some degree of trauma, it came free w your late stage capitalism and your parents being as dumb and scared as you are/neu i am talking like BIG picture here.
Like you can be bummed stuff happens to ppl and like bear it in mind if conflict gets difficult, but me and my system mates do NOT need pity, unsolicited advice, to be assumed attention seeking or untrustworthy etc.. I don't have bad intentions but plenty of people do so I have a survival mechanism for that. I play it close to the chest. So fucking what? Why does life have to get so complicated so fast, but we as people are expected to be simple? I can't even decide if I want to tell people what name I truly am In the moment. Sometimes I feel 35, at a time in my life when I'll be grateful if the earth is still here in my mid-twenties. I've done almost nothing and feel the weight of everything and I don't see a place for judgement in a world like that unless someone does something TRULY heinous. Preying on others, hoarding resources, abuse etc.. So who cares how I am living and getting by? Why do I have to be secretive about something that's not hurting anyone? "Good" or "bad," there are assumptions attached to my circumstances that I am not happy with at all.
This isn't like a vent or anything I just think that system or not, Yuno is in a similar predicament. She Knows she should not have to feel shame, but she does. It has been placed on her for years, so she rejects it entirely and seeks to empower herself. Living as she pleases and being a boss bitch yeah, but still having these delicate feelings that are just too complex for many people.
I feel like everyone feels that way about something

sergle i thought you didn't like ppl objectifying you :/
god okay this gave me whiplash. make sure you remember how to read before proceeding. sound words out for a friend or family member if you need to. People Being Thirsty in my general direction is different from people like. seeing me only as JO material. I Don't Like people thinking they're smooth as hell trying to dm me what they assume women want to hear. Describing some cringe ass shit. I Do Like a compliment. I even like a compliment that is clearly thirsty. I don't think "I've jacked off to you" is a compliment. not from yall anyway. super controversial, I know. a fat fetish blog following me and reblogging my selfies Is objectification. someone being vaguely horny can be good, or bad, or funny and I show it to ppl on discord and laugh- depends on the specifics. Most of the people following me are too uwu to even get close to the line. they've backed so far away from the line out of fear that they tripped over something while they were backing up and it was embarrassing for them. People trying to push me into sex work specifically while I'm fundraising, because they know I'm more vulnerable at that time and they want to take advantage of me needing money, is definitely sexual harassment, that's definitely me being objectified. the ask I just got, though, was not that. 😭 just telling me that some girls think I'm hot? that is tepid as hell. thinking someone is attractive isn't objectifying them. all attraction is not objectification. please. work with me here

did you ppl calling rockwild shippers delusional or wearing "shipper goggles"? do you ship them, and what do you think about the kiss?
I have not, so I suppose that means I follow kind people. The delusional insult is always rude AF to me, but it's common in any fandom. I've been in DC and Marvel fandoms for many years. Yikes! As someone who likes all 3 campaigns, I never understand the competitiveness between ships/story lines. They're different stories with their own messy chapters. People are allowed to like or dislike something if they so choose. Doesn't mean you need to throw other ship and/or other character under the bus.
The shipper goggles thing is funny. Just because someone is a shipper and I most definitely am, doesn't mean we can't see the value of story telling or the value in characters as individual people. I'm an editor and a writer. You got to see the forest for the trees, but also know where your landmarks are. Meaning understand the grander scheme while also pruning/tending to elements that help your story progress.
Of course I still ship Callowmoore/Rockwild. The kiss was fun and tbh, I was waiting it. Those who claim "Fearne didn't have to process./ [gasp] Fearne was manipulated" After she says, "Well, now I don't know if I wanna put this in there." It's surface level, but that little bit of inner conflict of "Oh! I did like that, but I also made them a promise." Is that not at least the start of processing? Ashley said on 4-Sided Dive and in game as Fearne, "The shard should go to Ashton" /paraphrase. She may not have understood the effects. Neither did Ashton, but they had a plan -- albeit a costly and not so smart, but they knew.
IMO, The kiss response from Ashton was what I figured from a character who has a charisma of 6. It's messy and imperfect, but that's true to character story telling.
@i-am-shitpost brought up several good points about was "Last one you'll fucking get" (paraphrase) a thought for themself. (x)
Also very common for Taliesin characters I suppose. If you love Perc'ahlia you know.
That said, Ashton owes Fearne, FCG and Bell's Hells as a whole an apology. I hope that when they do, they carry that lesson and continue figuring who they want to be.
I just keep picturing Fearne picking up FCG to be at Ash's height when they both give him shit. And Fearne walks away with FCG in search for some Courage or Green Tier whiskey within Whitestone.

hi! i'm aurora, i prefer males in a genshin matchup, i'm straight, and i go by she/her
i would like to be matched with adult characters from genshin impact
i like music (i play like piano, cello, ukulele, etc but i also love listening to music), i love making friends, and i like doing anything fun (involves going to like amusement parks or arcades). i love !!!! sleeping, lots of people tend to think im super hyper all the time but tbh all i want to do is sleep !! i like drawing, dissecting animals, i like observing ppl and essentially psychoanalyzing them, i like debating controversial topics for the giggles (playing the devil's advocate my beloved), i like sending people cursed images, and i like flirting w/ people (platonically most of the time). i love cheese ! ! and i like noodles a lot <3<3 my fav drink ever is either iced coffee or like cranberry juice bc both of them are actually amazing
i hate worms. like i actually despise them. i don't like eating most vegetables (spinach is good), i dislike math because its boring, i dont like people who are close-minded and dont consider all the perspectives of a situation, i dont like bananas, i dont like watermelons, i dont like 3-spiked forks, and that's abt it ! !
i'm kinda friendly to most ppl and i love meeting new people because it gives me opportunity to analyze someone new !! i come off as a lot more carefree and spontaneous, but underneath i observe ppl a lot and im like that one friend who knows more and is more mature than u'd think (lmao im also the advice friend while being the chaotic one). i was raised up religiously, but rn i'm agnostic! i somewhat believe in justice, however i believe justice isn't always the way to go because of how everyone has such different and conflicting views of moral and ethical laws! i believe in the pursuit to know more, and to always consider every kind of perspective.
lots of people and i think that id have a hydro vision? bc i have a messed up sense of justice but its still justice and i'm quite confident
i have like bad commitment issues ? i think that counts as a personal flaw, but yeah
i'm southeast asian & i have like black wavy hair that's like a lil bit longer than jaw-length ! lots of ppl have told me that i have an rbf and i look scary when they first meet me so yk !! if ur my friend or like kind of know me, i will always send you a cursed image and/or a pickup line because i have an entire long list of pickup lines saved in my notes app. i want to be a biomed engineer some day, biology is cool and engineering is too <3<3 tysm for this! love you
Hi aurora, hope you're having a good weekend!

Your matchup is..........
Tumblr media
ALBEDO !!
The people of Mondstadt were well-acquainted with a somewhat odd sight in the City of Freedom's town square from time to time: that of the Chief Alchemist of the Knights of Favonius, standing near the Alchemy station, having a highly controversial debate with his lover.
Some would wonder why he entertained her points as anything more than a means to stir up trouble; but to those who cared to observe more keenly, it became abundantly clear that while Albedo was not the type to dismiss a hypothesis immediately, no matter the reasoning behind it, he simply favored opinions voiced by her.
The Spark Knight put it best: "If you like someone, you should always listen to what they have to say!"
Fun details:
Albedo is always busy with work, but even so, he makes time to see you. (Unless he's up on Dragonspine... That distance can't be helped.) It is clear in the way he has your interests in mind, be it by inquiring about your studies, your music-making, or in the simple act of bringing a cup of iced coffee from your favorite local cafe.
Many an afternoon is spent sitting outside the local Mondstadt restaurants people-watching. Albedo listens intently as you voice your psycho-analyses aloud, and will accompany your thoughts with sketches if the individuals in question, or the scenery that day so you both might recall the discussion. He will voice his own observations, too; it will be fascinating to hear what conclusions you two reach! (And a little scary, for you're often too accurate.)
Albedo is not a highly musical person, but it is fascinating to him to discern pure talent from diligent practice. He'll undoubtedly find both in your musical pursuits, but will wonder which you think matters more in the long run. If this leads to a debate, even better - he loves stimulating discussion, especially with someone intelligent enough to keep up with him.
Unlike most people, you both let logic lead true fights, which is why they become quite nasty as you pick each other apart, flaw by flaw. Eventually, one of you will step away to cool off, and when you next discuss it, you'll have to let emotions dictate where to go from there. Seeing the situation through the other's eyes, it becomes easier to find a suitable solution. Luckily, these fights rarely occur due to your practical natures, and have only strengthened your relationship.
The cursed images you choose to show to Albedo will need to be explained. (Like Cyno's jokes, only with detailed visual descriptions, too.) Once he understands the context, he'll find them extremely humorous, Whether you still do or not... Well, at least his reactions are equally amusing to you!
Your Hydro will Crystallize with his Geo, so you will always have shields to buffer you during battles. His elegant style complements your sharp-moving one well - your movements together are very fluid.
Albedo was initially attracted to you for your intellectual mind, and found in you a kindred soul who viewed the world of Teyvat in much the same way he did. If someone asked him now, though, he's have a harder time picking one thing that stands out the most. He loves your smile when you drop a cheesy pick-up line; he loves the look on your face when your fingers glide across the piano; he loves the way your eyes droop when you're feeling sleepy. In a way, all of those are testaments to how your mind works. Even so, Albedo would prefer to say thst his favorite thing about you is your least-favorite thing about yourself, for even that which you consider the lowest quality is worth only the highest of praise and devotion to him.
Tumblr media
~~I hope you enjoyed your matchup! I considered Scara for you also, but went with Albie. I had the worst time trying to get Tumblr to post this ask, it refused to do so!! Ugh. I apologize that it's shorter than others I do, I really don't know what it was Tumblr didn't like about this post... ;-;

I admit I'm not deeply knowledgeable on the conflict, but with everything i have learned about it i think it's safe to say i fucking hate zionists somewhere deep in my bones. The absolute most deplorable kind of liberal who despite all odds has managed to make my hatred of misogynists seem tame.
"oooo but they're killing civilians" what do you think israel's been doing the last 100 years. It sure hasn't been peaceful negotiations. You actually loooove your civilian murdering when the perpetrators have us sanctioned overpowering weaponry.
I hate that more civilians have died certainly, but it's not suddenly fucking news when it's civilians of the invading army instead of the people being massacred en masse.
"oooo violence isn't the answer!" You useless fucking bootlicker@#% You are unimaginably brainwashed you fucking lap dog of the status quo@#% State sanctioned violence is all fine and dandy but resistance is unforgivable because it inevitably strikes the civilians that were strategically placed to be human shields against all retribution. Of course civilians were harmed, israel planted a fucking subdivision in their goddamned warzone!
How the fuck do you think people fight back against opposition infinitely stronger than them!? If you have 20 ppl and guns from the 50s are you gonna fight "fair and square" against a modern imperial military with the lives of your loved ones on the line!? If you say yes you're fucking stupid. You go for low blows. You can't win against armored up soldiers, but you can kill their loved ones. It is a morally abhorrent method, but if you're in a corner it's all you fucking have
I can't speak to whether hamas has palestines best interests (i need to do more research) or if it's like the group who did 9/11 but i can speak to the fact that if any israeli citizen is genuinely surprised by this they need to get tested for brain cancer. I know i wouldn't be surprised if another massive terrorist attack happened in america (not a domestic one, those happen constantly). Wouldn't be unjustified given how many countries we've fucked
Man. I know, posting online doesn't do anything but i needed to vent so i can cool off enough to find something helpful. And yeah, big words coming from an american, but consider. I don't think america should exist either

To me, Hend Amrys family member working for the Americans doesn't invalidate her view. Why would her family go to America and do that if things were great in Libya? What about the thousands of asylum seekers from Libya who settled in the West because their political views meant they lived in fear. Across the whole spectrum - from islamists to secular communists. The puublic executions of dissidents, the abusleem prison massacre... (1/2)
I do not think all of these voices cheering on the arab spring were "stooges". There is an obvious reason why many of them were based in the West: it was safer to express those views there. Also what Saddam did to the Kurds and to Kuwait was not a lie. Real experiences were instrumentalised for an illegal war. But I think buidling this black and white view is misleading. Not acknowledging those horrific "lived experiences of POCs" because somehow that means supporting war. It's a false dichotomy
You don't see it a conflict of interest that her father worked for a CIA sponsored anti-Gaddafi group? I've been posting about how CIA is the arm of US imperialism for the last 3 weeks. Are you legit??
Her family likely left due to the policies of Gaddafi nationalizing and socializing the country's resources for the masses, rather than the few. And likely, her family belong to that few. We can't know for sure- as all Hend Amry has admitted to is that her father worked for the contras. But this is the same as Cuban migrants staying under Batista dictatorship with no problems because it was serving the elite few, while they fled under Fidel's "dictatorship" because he seized the private slave holding sugar plantations. Many cubans fled because their livelihoods from exploitation were now in jeopardy. Yes certain people find political homes in west, why do you think that is? It's not because there is no persecution here for political dissent. Certainly Julian Assange and Chelsea Manning showed us that. All of last couple of weeks censorship taught us that much. So then which stories and views are allowed to find homes in the west?
I can't comment on Iraq because I haven't studied this region and currently, all I know is the dominant/mainstream western view that I absorbed through regular news, regular ppl, regular radio. Which is obviously serving the empire and needs to be fully and thoroughly questioned as I've mentioned before several times on the blog.
So yes there is class character in people leaving countries. This is something everyone should think about when analyzing any situation. You can even see it now in Ukraine. The Roma people are not accepted anywhere as refugees.
If you're interested in what was happening in Libya i recommend 2 books: "Sowing Chaos: Libya in the wake of humanitarian intervention" and "No More War: How the West Violates International Law by Using 'Humanitarian' Intervention to Advance Economic and Strategic Interests".
While you are correct that real experiences are instumentalized for war, it's actually more complex. The CIA has admitted to both directly creating fault lines, or exploiting existing fault lines that were created by class society or by imperialism, thereby preventing those fault lines from disappearing.
The more important thing to address here imo is that I see your interpretation of the world still dominated by neoliberal ideology and analysis. Clearly you are interested in this topic. But your analysis is CNN, Washington, Foreign Policy. So what are you reading and doing to challenge it so at the least, you can get a broader perspective?

a day or two ago i posted sth quick about how much i love this particular flashback,, and a few ppl asked me to elaborate so here you go!! (@iamastrawhatpirate @queerhummingbird )
a few of the reasons why law's backstory is, in my opinion, the best in one piece
i mean..
first, you've got the character focus and increasingly complex objective.
with most backstories (not just from one piece but in general), the main focus is a singular character. there can be multiple others involved, but it generally seeks to deepen the motivations and inner-workings of one, maybe two individuals.
law's flashback, however, doesn't.
yes, it is still about him. he is the central character, and it explores him specifically. but it's also about doffy, and ties together many of his multilayered motivations. and rosi, with his conflicted sense of morality and stubborn compassion. and it provides not only a welcome window to the inner workings of the entire donquixote family, but to the future of dressrosa as a nation. it's more than just an explanation for why law is the way he is, it's relevant and integral to every part of the arc surrounding it (thematically, development-wise, in terms of histories, motivations, and environments...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's not so much an isolated piece of narrative to explore an individual, as a continuation of the dressrosan story and a naturally functioning part of the one piece world.
second, the narrative construction.
the entire flashback was what,, seven chapters?? and yet it told a complete, well-realised, raw story that made me cry my eyes out and fall in love with this series even more. donquixote rosinante was introduced at the beginning of those seven chapters, during those seven chapters experienced a profound and incredible character arc, and within those seven chapters died. he had real emotions and dynamic development and this fandom loves him with our whole heart- and all it took was seven chapters, where he wasn't even the central character.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if that isn't a perfect testament to oda's character building, i really don't know what is.
on top of that, the storytelling is effective - the bits-and-pieces style of exposition makes perfect sense and is executed really thoroughly and meticulously. and as we progress into the developing plotlines and personal emotional developments (specifically between law and rosinante), i'm quite impressed with oda's ability to express such emotion and character building in such short time. there's not much else to be said about the story structure here- it's just Really Good.
third, the crushing emotional execution.
oh boy, yall knew this one was coming.
one piece excels in the realm of emotional realization. in terms of flashbacks, famously so. i don't think i'm pointing out anything surprising when i say that law's backstory was really, really sad, seeing as that's a characteristic of every flashback in this series. but there are sequences here that far surpassed my expectations in terms of raw emotion, and character depth.
law's backstory is, in my opinion, the saddest in one piece:
Tumblr media
"see, law? there's no need to despair. there will always be a merciful hand of salvation."
that is the line that echoes through his head as he stands over the bleeding corpses of his family. as a ten-year-old.
holy fuck.
the details of his expression, the sequence of events that occur directly before and after the realization that his parents are dead, the promise of an escape slowly draining through his fingertips. the crushing dread. guys, i was absolutely sobbing, and it wasn't even the most emotional scene in this flashback.
for me, the worst part is that the nun who spoke that line to law was right - but the minute he finally got that second chance, that salvation, doflamimgo shot it to death in front of him. for just a minute there, fate was kind. before it simply wasn't.
Tumblr media
and the way oda chose to execute that scene was goddamn powerful. every expression, every word of dialogue or aspect of environment contributed to a picture that, once again, had me absolutely in tears. i mean, corazon's last words to him.... there's no way i could really do the scene justice, but i'll say that the second he stopped being silent (in other words, the second even he knew that rosinante was dead), i was ugly crying my damn eyes out.
also quick side note, law callously mentioning that he hid in a pile of dead bodies to get out of flevance is, uh,
really fucking sad.
fourth (not nessecarily an argument for why law's backstory is The Best but i wanted to express it anyways), this flashback has some really interesting thematic tie-ins with the rest of dressrosa.
(or in fact the rest of the story).
there are quite a few themes explored over the course of the one piece series: justice and the way it is perceived, corruption and abuse of power, obviously the value of friendship. but one that is slightly more subtle and in my opinion underrated, would be the idea of superficial paradise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
from the outside in, dressrosa seems like such a happy nation. fairies, passion, living trinkets- the citizens love it, and it couldn't seem more prosperous! but underneath the surface, the foundation of the entire country was built on lies; on the blood and sweat of enslaved toys, and the merciless environment of the colosseum and poorer districts. it's just hidden under heaps of full coffers and a power-hungry king.
of course, this is a recurring story theme. dressrosa isn't the only example- there are several others over the course of the series, but the one that i'm trying to get at here is flevance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the world govornment and even some of the royal family knew that they were dooming the lives of every single citizen in their actions. yet they continued to do so anyways. they continued to let their people live on in blissful ignorance and their money to accumulate, while underneath the surface it grew worse with every passing day.
in the scenario of dressrosa, it is simply doflamingo who assumes the role of the world govornment, exploiting his people through superficial paradise until every drop of wealth and power is bled dry. and when he realizes that the truth might come out, he too makes the decision to murder every single citizen. flevance, amber lead, dressrosa, and doflamingo- they are all further explorations of the world government's cruel agenda, and unforgiving legacy.

God I'm so glad to talk about the game lmao. I also finished it! It was fine Ig I think the start of the game was so fantastic so my expectations were a bit much but it was fun! I loved playing as Ciri and just zapping all over the place, wish we could do that more.
But yeah I completely agree with you on basically everything that you said lmaooo, Yen is just unbareable the more I learn about her and the things shes done/the way she treats ppl, I just don't see what I'm meant to like, even if Geralt wasn't the Best person, he deserves so so much better, Idk how I'm gonna read the books if this romance is canon there too, hopefully it won't bother me too much. She so far doesn't really have any redeeming qualities, even her small moments of humour and wit are sort of "yeah okay but it's not fun when you do it cause you just spent the past few moments berating someone for daring to try and help you so like" I actually ended up sort of liking triss the more I talked with her and Yen, she at least apologises for her wrongs (which are still massive holy shit) and doesn't rly treat geralt like shit (same with Kiera, I think thats how her name is spelt, shes cool), they both kinda fuck over geralt but they own up to it which I can at least respect, still not a fan but they're okay, at times. God the women in this game are either really fucking cool or just a bitch, usually in a not fun way The game came with both dlcs! havent really touched them cause the ending was a bitttt of a let down, I thought I wasn't near finishing cause I put it off for so long lol so my bad, probably will get into them tho! And im on ps4 so no mods :( the exp shit would be so good, the last boss fights were really easy though? I think I was level 34 (I wanted to wear my good armour lol) and the quests are level 28 so maybe I was a bit over leveled but some random mobs in world beat my ass just before the main quests so idk lol. Do you get to hang with Ciri at all post game? They're so damn cute together
Out of curiosity which ending did you get? I was pretty satisfied overall (witcher!Ciri ending for me) but I remember thinking that the last couple of plot points were pretty rushed. Though tbh, looking back I’m not sure if that’s actually the case, or if things just felt fast to me because I missed so much buildup trying to keep track of the basics. Now that I know the characters, world, conflicts, etc. I keep coming across lines and details that make me go, “Oh, THAT’S what we were referring to!” for plot points that previously felt like they came out of nowhere.
Playing Ciri is so much fun though. I enjoy zapping around as well...even when I accidentally zap myself into some guy's sword XD
I’m constantly told Yen gets better in the books (something, something major character development) and I’d be lying if I said that “The Last Wish” didn’t turn me off, but I personally stopped reading due to more than just Yen. The epic just didn’t grab me. The short stories absolutely, but I didn’t like the writing as much in novel form, heard a lot about future plot points I had no interest in/made me very uncomfortable, didn’t want to read a bunch of Yen being Yen prior just to getting a development I may or may not like… there was a lot that made me drop the books, so I’m not exactly in the best position to be recommending them, or even warning against them from an unbiased perspective lol. I might give them another shot sometime, but for now I’m happy with the games and fandom content.
I’m liking Triss a lot more on my second playthrough too (especially how selfless she is regarding the other mages) and I always liked Keira. I think the game did a good job of making her kinda selfish and manipulative (as sorceresses are wont to be in this world), but not to such an extent that you’re utterly repulsed by her actions. Her conflict is “I want to not live in squalor the rest of my days and am willing to mislead a friend to achieve that. Also foolishly trust a mad king that, if I go through with it, ends in my horrific death.” With the resolution being like, “Oh, someone else will give me a place of safety with something as basic as clean bedding? Sweet! Yeah, now that I have some security, company, and comfort I’ll use this research to cure a plague, nbd.” Keira is a great example of TW3’s argument that if you choose to help and nurture people, good things will happen for everyone, and it doesn’t ask you to ignore anything really awful to get there. I can very much stomach “You kept some info from me and put me to sleep for the night” in a way that’s far harder to do with, “You actively misled me for months while I had amnesia, cultivating this fantasy relationship” or “You callously disregard another’s culture and torture our daughter’s friend through necromancy.”
Depending on the choices you’ve already made, you can hang out with Ciri for like, one cut scene in the DLCs lol. But it’s indeed a cute one! Basically, if you didn’t romance either Triss or Yen and Ciri is still alive, you should see her again. I’m absolutely that fan that if CDPR decided, after this many years, to randomly add more TW3 content, I would in no way be opposed. I want more time with Ciri, with Regis, there’s a character from the second game named Iorveth who was supposed to reappear in TW3 but had to be cut and that tragedy will forever haunt me. Forget the mess that is Cyberpunk, just keep making more Witcher content!

Fandom racism anon here and yeah absolutely (I didn't realise I had anon on lol)
Because while LOTR has problems within its themes (ie the orcs can be seen as to be coded as people of colour, especially since they ride elephants) the explicit message of the book is evil bad
Because the only people who work for sauron are evil. There are no morally grey people, they aren't misguided or tricked they just are evil and want to take over the world
And yeah I totally agree that this is more of a literal take on like empirical war (is that the word) and that makes total sense considering Tolkiens history
Whereas I would say that the allegories in shaowhunters is way more based on racial conflict within a country itself especially slavery, I can't remember if this is show Canon but is it that they have the warlock tropheys? I remember that in the books magnus talks about shadowhunters hanging warlock marks on their walls? (sorry to bring the books up)
Idk it's very hollow to me, unlike with LOTR though it's a different allegory it's totally irritating to show many of these supremecists as morally misled. LOTR says bad guys are bad guys, shadowhunters says well yeah they did follow a guy which thinks that downworlders are subhuman and should be eradicated but they just made a mistake
I want to compare this to tfatws which while it isn't really fantasy I just feel like it shows how the priorities of the writer can impact the message of the show so powerfully (I know u aren't up to date so I'm gonna be pretty vague)
There's a scene in tfatws where the new white perfect captain America does something bad and doesn't pay for the consequences - done to comment on white privelege and how America condones white supremacy and how Sam is in comparison to that
Mayrse and Robert revealed to be part of the circle! And paid no consequences Shock horror my parents were the bad guys (even rho they were either implicitly or explicitly extremely racist the entire time) also I haven't finished the seires but do the lightwoods ever try to get their parents to face the consequences?)
Only one actual really critiques the situation and the reality behind it whereas the other one is just to centre the white characters once again and present them in a further sympathetic light
AND ANOTHER THING! I was mostly talking about show Canon here and I'm sorry to bring up the books but I literally can't believe I hadn't picked up in this before.
So like downworlders = people of colour, Simon is a vampire so is coded as a person of colour. However in the books in the last one he stops being a vampire and becomes a shadowhunters instead, coincidentally that's also when he starts dating Izzy HOW IS THIS ABLE TO HAPPEN!!????
I mean I know cassandra clare is lazy right? The original seires is by far the worst of all her writings but come ON!!!!! By the allegory has he become the white man!????? These books made no fuckin sense when I read them at 15 and they make no sense now I'm digressing anyways
I don't know man I wrote this ask because I was trying to find some fantasy book recommendations on booktube and SO MANY of them were about slavery or general ly extrême préjudice with à White protagonist to save this 'poor souls'.
Also I was watching guardians of the galexy the other day and realised nearly every movie set in space is just bigger stakes imperialism - planets instead of countries. Literally star wars, star trek, guardians of the galexy 2, avengers infinity war - all are facing genocidal imperialistic villains without actually paying much, if any attention to those effected
Just writing this ask made me exhausted I'm so tired of lazy writing and exploiting other people's struggle. I'm white and I'm trying to be more critical about the movies, shows and books I watch and read but let me know if I said something off here❤️❤️ you gotta get up to date with tfatws man, Sambucky nation is THRIVING!!!!
i'm not sure i agree that the whole "the evil people are evil" thing is a good thing, because i feel like more often than not making the bad characters just like... unidimensionally evil just means that the reader will be like "lol i could NEVER be that guy" and when it comes to racism that is a dangerous road to take because white people already believe that racism is something that Only The Most Evil People, Ergo, Not Me, Can Do, which makes discussions of stuff like subconscious racial bias and active antiracist work become more difficult because people don't believe they CAN be racist unless they're like, Lord Voldemort
which is not to say that racism should be treated as morally ambiguous, just that the workings of racism should be represented as something that is not done only by the Most Hardcore And Evil, but rather as a part of a system of oppression that affects the way everyone sees the world and interacts with it and lives in it
yes the warlock trophies are mentioned in the show, albeit very quickly (there is a circle member who tells magnus that his cat eyes will make "a nice addition to his collection" and then it's never mentioned again because this is sh and we love using racism for shock value but then not actually treating it as a serious plot point or something that affects oppressed ppl). and you are absolutely right, shadowhunters (and hp, and most fantasy books) has genocide as its core conflict and treats it, like you said, in a very hollow way, treating racism as both not a big deal and not something that is part of a system of oppression, but really the actions of a few Very Bad People. it's almost impressive how they manage to do both at the same time tbh
i think you hit the nail right on the head with this comment, actually. for most of these works, racism is SHOCK VALUE. it's just like "lol isn't it bad that this bad guy wants to kill a gazillion people just because they are muggles? now that is fucked up" but it's not actually an issue. in fact, when this guy is defeated, the whole problem is over! racism is not something that is embedded into that world, it's not a systemic issue, it's not even actually part of what drives the plot. the things that led to this person not only existing but rising to power and gathering enough followers to be a real threat to the whole world are never mentioned. it's like racists are born out of thin air, which is dangerously close to implying that racism is just a natural part of life, tbh
anyway my point is, it is never supposed to be questioned, it is never part of a deeper plot or story, its implications are barely addressed except for a few fleeting comments them and there; so, it's not a critique, it's shock value, even though it is frequently disguised as a critique (which is always empty and shallow anyway. like what is the REAL critique in works like hp or sh/tsc other than "genocide is bad"? wow such a groundbreaking take evelyn)
about simon and the book thing: i actually knew about this and the weird thing about this is that, like... simon is jewish, and he's implied to be ashkenazi (calls his grandma bubbe which is yiddish, which is a language spoken by the ashkenazi ppl), and it seems like cc is always toeing the line between him being accepted by shadowhunters and then not accepted by them, which sounds a lot like antisemitic tropes and history of swinging between (ashkenazi) jewish ppl being seen as the model minority myth and thus used as an example by white christians, and being hated and persecuted. i'm not super qualified to talk about this since i'm not jewish and i'm still learning about/unlearning antisemitism and its tropes, and i don't really have a fully formed thought on that, tbh; it just reminds me of the whole "model minority" swinging, where one second simon is part of the majority, the other he's not, but always he is supposed to give up a part of himself and his identity in other to be "assimilated" by shadowhunter culture. this article (link) covers a book on jewish people and assimilationism into USan culture, this article (link) covers british jews' relationship with being considered an ethnic group, and this article (link) talks a bit about the model minority myth from the perspective of an asian jewish woman
it just really calls to my attention that cc chose to make her ashkenazi jewish character start off as a downworlder and then become a shadowhunter. i don't think she made that decision as a conscious nod to this history, because it would require being informed on antisemitism lol but it's incredible how you can always see bigoted stereotypes shining through her narrative choices completely by accident. it just really shows how ingrained it is in our collective minds and culture
and anyway, making a character go from the oppressed group to just suddenly become the oppressor is just. wtf. not how oppression works, but most of all, really disrespectful, especially because she clearly treats it as an "upgrade"/"glowup" that earns him the Love Of His Life
also, out of curiosity, are you french? it seems like your autocorrect changed a few words and i'm pretty sure extrême and préjudice are the french versions of these words, and since u said ur white, that's where my money would be lol

Content warning: Animal neglect
Hi fishblr 👋 I don't have a fish blog so I'm not sure how many people this will reach who can help, but this is Roosevelt as you can tell he's missing his fins. Him and three other goldfish are technically mine but I've never cared for them before I just didn't know how and my dad was keeping them for me so I figured he knew what he was doing. Even if you don't know anything about fish you can very probably guess that is not true considering: no fins. To make a long story short my dad isn't cleaning the tank or doing water changes and I didn't realize that until now. I'm not blaming it all on him I should have been more responsible and done more research before getting fish but unfortunately 13 year old me didn't think about that. About two weeks ago I realized Roosevelt developed finrot again he actually did a year ago when I was at school so I hadn't noticed until I came back home and saw him in his current finless state. He's still getting around okay and can get food so I figured he's not good but at least okay. I noticed the tip of his tail turning white and I asked a petco employee what to do abt that, they pointed out some medicine and told me to set up a quarantine tank so I did that but I definitely need some advice on this whole situation.
Hes the only one in the tank who's fins have turned white but another one has fins that are kind of frayed looking but I didn't see that until after I moved Roosevelt into this tank. I know 10 gallons is way too small for a goldfish but I was told thats okay for a quarantine tank. I've been doing a lot of research into fin rot and keeping goldfish and the number one thing I want to do is get them a bigger tank, but I can't do that for awhile because I have no job about about 8 dollars in my bank account (my mom bought the small tank and filter and everything else I'm using now for me but she draws the line at spending money for a 55 gallon tank which is I think the minimum for three goldfish I'm not sure I saw some ppl saying bigger) so until then I'm really wondering the best things I can do. I saw conflicting stuff on the medication really helping fin rot and a lot more positive stuff for aquarium salt helping so I've put that in both tanks (I put the carbon filter back in the quarantine tank and waited two days for the medicine to be filtered out first bc I figured that'd be the best thing to do). I'm doing water changes in both tanks twice a week. I've been doing 25% water changes in the 20 gallon one with the two goldfish which I know isn't a lot but considering my dad hasn't changed the water in about three years I thought doing more than that might be too much for them right now. Since the 10 gallon tank I moved Roosevelt too is uncycled I've been doing 50% water changes twice a week. I got an ammonia test kit and unfortunately the levels are about 0.25-0.5 ppm right now I'm not sure what the ph of the water is. The tips of his fins look kind of black which some googling said was a sign of ammonia in the tank. So I know thats a lot of background but these are my questions
1. Is the amount of water changing I'm doing okay? Or should I do more? Less even?
2. Is it okay to have decorations in a quarantine tank? Bc I've heard conflicting things and right now its empty but I feel bad because he's already alone and I knew goldfish should be social but him having no decorations makes me afraid he'll get stressed and bored from the super open space. I was thinking I could put a clean terracotta pot in there as a cave or something from the other tank to give some cover
3. How can I lower the ammonia levels in the ten gallon tank? I took the filter from the 20 gallon one thats already been cycled (I tested the waters ammonia is at zero in that one) and kind of swished it around in the water bc someone said that can help. I'm doing those water changes and I aerated the tank when I was giving him medicine bc I watched a video where someone said medicating can take some of the oxygen out of the tank but I read that doing that can also help lower the ammonia levels. What else should I do?
4. If I can get his fin rot to clear up should I move him back into the 20 gallon with the other two fish or is it better to keep him in the 10 gal? Like I said I'm hoping to get a bigger tank but until then I feel like the 20 gal one will be so overcrowded. I also saw the other fish chasing him from time to time I never saw them attacking him but that could be a possibility I'm just not in my dads room more than to occasionally check on the fish so I haven't been able to observe them that much. Is he better off alone in a smaller tank for now?
If you read this far thank you if you could give me advice I'd really appreciate that so much. Please don't tell me I'm taking bad care of these fish I'm fully aware I have not cared for them correctly but I truly am just trying to do the best that I can for them now. If your advice involves buying something please still give it to me because I might be able to convince my mom to help me a little bit more.

Okay so Fire Emblem anon here!! Here's a Kinda Super Long Bc I Got Carried Away description of a few Fire Emblem games, plus some characters that seem like they hit tropes you like!
The good news is that there's not a super huge overarching timeline, there's several smaller timelines that are seperate from one another except for the crossover games. I'm gonna go with describing the newer ones that you're most likely to be able to get your hands on and play; a lot of people complain that they lean into some anime-tropey stuff and are too easy, but tbh, that's a perk just as often as it isn't. Basically, it's Game of Thrones, but rated T and with more cute girls and old men who are friendly instead of creepy.
Tbh, it's a turn-based strategy game with visual novel elements for characterization, if strategy games aren't your thing and you're just interested in the characters, watching the support conversations on Youtube might be more your thing. All the characterization, none of the resetting the same goshdang level thirty times. Anyways, description of the games in passing, including a brief description of the plot concept, pros and cons, trigger warnings, and some characters you might be interested in if you're just looking up characters.
*line break for legibility*
Awakening: for the 3DS. Follows Robin, an amnesiac mage, after they're found in a field by a band of knights called the Shepherds. Involves the undead, a twink in a mask, timey-wimey shenangians, and the usual cast of oddballs you'd expect from a Fire Emblem game.
Pros of Awakening: customizable player character, intro of Casual mode (turns off permadeath) and the Pair Up system, which lets you put characters together for shipping reasons strategy and stat boosts. Also doubles as a shipping simulator, since you can pair off characters and meet their later in the game due to said timey-wimey shenangians.
Cons of Awakening: there are some....very concerning combos of names/skin tones/plot relevance for certain characters, so go in with a warning about implicit racism. Also if you like strategy games, this game is relatively easy to break and make "too easy," but tbh that's what Lunatic Mode (the Ultra Unfair Hard Mode) is for.
Trigger warnings across the main plot: underhanded politics, attempted assassinations, martyrdom, an optional character is implied to stalk Robin but idk how to tag that, identity crises, conflicts within a family, character who isn't you looks like you, backstory child abuse, an optional character is a bad portrayal of DID if you squint?
*line break for legibility*
Fates: is actually a group name for two games set in the same universe, and a DLC bonus story: Birthright, Conquest, and Revelations. All for the 3DS. All three games star Corrin, a pacifist raised in seclusion in the kingdom of Nohr. Each game reflects a different path Corrin can take in navigating the war between the nations of Nohr and Hoshido: Birthright has them stand with Hoshido, Conquest with Nohr, and Revelations has them strike out (nearly) alone. Each path has a completely different storyline, cast of characters, and difficulty curve.
Pros of Fates: honestly, the characters here cater the most to the avid pro-shipper and multi-shipper. I just love this cast. Both Nohr and Hoshido have four members of the royal family you can play and get to know, each of those royal family members has two retainers who are various levels of dedicated and/or unhinged, and the cast just widens and widens. Also a character customization and shipping simulator point for the same reasons Awakening gets it. Also, canon fujoshi rights (there's a character with a skill called Daydream, which boosts her stats when two male characters are paired up near her. one of us, one of us). Also the first game with canon queer characters: both Rhajat and Niles are bi.
Cons of Fates: unfortunately, the writing is kinda rushed or badly translated in some places. Also *shakes IntSys* my lore! Give me more lore! Also, iirc, you could get both physical games in a bundle for a discount when they came out, but not anymore, so it's sorta like Pokemon with version exclusives. Which is less fun, since you can't directly trade characters. Also the fandom for this game is RIFE with discourse, which is kinda sad bc I just wanna talk my ships with ppl sjxhdjdn
Trigger warnings for Fates: child abuse might as well be Nohr's middle name, in-universe racism (since Hoshido is p obviously Japan-inspired, and a lot of Nohrians are rancid to Hoshidans), kidnapping, on-screen murder, lots of fighting your loved ones (on both main routes, you gotta fight the playable characters from the other side AAA), su-c-de, death of sibling(s) in certain routes, demonic-like possession, there's like six characters people can read as bad mental illness rep, Niles especially is discourse bait for being a kinky (yes that's canon) bi man of color but also he's awesome so die mad antis
*break for space*
Shadows of Valentia: for the 3DS. A remake of Gaiden, the second game in the series. Follows Alm, a farm boy from a small village in Zofia, and Celica, his childhood best friend. Zofia and the nation to its north, Rigel, are two nations ruled by the dragon gods Mila and Duma, respectively. Normally, they're in equilibrium, but Rigel is invading and Mila is missing, prompting Alm and Celica to independently investigate the problem.
Pros of SoV: the most like the old-school Fire Emblem games, but it also has the permadeath-off mode. also the first to be fully voice acted! The art style is gorgeous, and the plot was polished up from the old game--two characters names Berkut and Rinea were added, and they are PEAK OTP the diskhorse can die mad. Also the cast is pretty fun all around, from buddy squad and the older brother/dad figure they adopted along the way to "hello this is my gang of childhood friends, we're gonna kill a god" Also introduces Mila's Turnwheel, which lets you rewind your moves if you realize you goofed big time and screwed yourself over.
Cons of SoV: has the most references to other games, but you won't, like, be lost if you don't get them. You just might have a few interludes of "who tf is Camus/the White Wing Brigade/etc" but it's easy enough to look up on the wiki. Also tbh, the plot kinda drags in the middle, there's some filler battles to try and make it feel more realistic and it feels...weird. Also no custom character, you are Alm and Celica and you will Like It.
Trigger warnings for SoV: you know that thing where a girl character gets killed off for a guy character to angst over? the game starts with a fakeout version of that. also a character slowly goes mad over the course of the plot (but it's really well done imo?), there's some self-sacrifice stuff in there, classism is a major theme, possession/selling your soul™, there's a couple of levels where you're exploring tombs/prisons, I'm sure there's something else but I'm forgetting right now
*line break for legibility*
Three Houses: on the Switch. The newest game in the series, and the most polished imo? Stars Byleth, a wandering mercenary turned teacher at the Officer's Academy. The Academy, housed in Garreg Mach Monastery, teaches youths from across the land of Fodlan how to be warriors, commanders, and knights. Students are sorted into three houses based on their country of origin: the Black Eagles are from ghe Adrestian Empire, led by the heiress-apparent Edelgard; the Blue Lions are from the kingdom of Faerghus, led by prince Dimitri; and the Golden Deer are from the Leicester Alliance, led by Claude, grandson of the Duke. You choose one of these houses to lead, and then everything quickly goes sour.
Pros of Three Houses: It's such a rich experience! The music is incredible, there's so much lore, and you can wander around the Monastery and hang out with the students to your heart's content. Also, it's four storylines for the price of one, even if they're all relatively similar in the first half. It does a pretty solid job of weaving together its themes into a satisfying narrative that will make you consider everyone involved. Also we got our first bi main lord (Edelgard) and non-white main lord (Claude is mixed race) in one fell swoop! Also, given the setting, it's teacher/student ship heaven.
Cons of Three Houses: just gonna come right out and say it: one of the villainous factions in the game is pretty substantially tied up with some anti-semitic tropes. There's no way to ignore it, it's just bleh, and I'm not gonna send anyone in without that warning. Also, though there's some characters you can persuade to switch sides, or spare, there's no route where there's a happy ending for everyone. Also there are so many people who are fake deep about the themes of the game, so be ready for the worst takes imaginable about your faves. also super trigger heavy, see below.
Trigger warnings: MANY. Garreg Mach and the Church of Seiros are very reminiscent of catholic religious stuff, for anyone with religion triggers, blood in cutscenes, death of a parent, death of a sibling (different characters), major gaslighting vibes in some places, lots of people going unhinged, some white savior™ vibes in places, body horror, creepy ass weaponry, backstory genoc-de (mostly not related to the anti-semitism), blood magic (definitely related to the anti-semitism), in general it goes to a lot more effort than the other games to make you think about what's Actually going on, even if it doesn't always work.
*break for legibility*
As for characters you'd like, if you just want to look some characters up, my recommendations based on what I understand about you include:
Awakening: Libra fits 'gnc man of the cloth' so well it's actually a conversation in game: "so what's a woman of the cloth doing here?" "...man, sir, man of the cloth." And Then He Never Gets Misgendered Again. Also Nowi's supports sometimes feel like a jab at antis-- she's a manakete, a person who can transform into a dragon. Manaketes also grow really slowly, as in "middle aged looking manaketes are like 1000 years old," so she's got major baby face and copes with being mistaken for a teenager by making jokes. Also Gregor, who she first appears with, is pretty fun--older mercenary with a thick accent who is like 80% here for a good time. Also Walhart, who's a villain but got some content added as DLC.
Fates: any interactions between Corrin, Leo, and/or Camilla are probably right up your alley--Camilla is obsessively protective over her siblings in a way that's Very Definitely Platonic™, and Leo also canonically has a crush on her in something that was cut in the English release. Also Gunther--once upon a time he was your classic knight in shining armor, now he's semi-retired, Corrin's personal guard, and covered in scars (and his voice is gorgeous too)
Echoes: my biased answer is to listen to every single line Ian Sinclair read for Berkut because he absolutely did NOT have to go that hard. My actual answer is to point you in the direction of the pegasus sisters Catria, Palla and Est, or maybe the older gentleman who's the head of the Priory, I forgot his name oops abbdbd. Also Clive is a devoted husband to one Mathilda, who looks just like an older version of his sister Clair 🤔
Three Houses: knowing you, you'd adore Hanneman--an older professor who's extremely passionate about his work, to the point where he tends to forget personal space and such. Also Seteth, like I mentioned before (join me in simping for him and his gorgeous pecs) and like, honestly, I know ppl make jokes about Alois but he's rlly good. Soft, awkward but he doesn't care, dad jokes everywhere. And also Mercedes, both because she's the biggest sweetheart imaginable and everyone should love her, but also bc she is just walking potential for the kinds of stuff you post on this blog. On one hand, she's the oldest student at the Academy and attached at the hip to one of the youngest, Annette (tho people act like they have a way bigger age gap then they actually do) and on the other hand, she has a long-lost half brother she can encounter (who I will not name for HUGE HUGE spoilers reasons) who she spends the rest of her life with in one of her endings. Heck, he has three possible endings total! Total!
Basically I brought the games up bc I'm used to being on the side of the fandom where everyone shoos anything uncomfortable under the rug, but there's so much material here that's being wasted I SWEAR
If you have any other questions I can send another anon? Your call! Thanks for hearing me out I love ur blog :3
OKAY!!! sorry for answering so late, but this ask was pretty much a BOOK (not that I´m complaining though! thank you so much! ;;u;;)
and from what I read here, I THINK if I´m going off on my first fire emblem adventure, I´ll try and pick up three houses if I get the chance! I have read your trigger warnings (thank you so much! ;u;) and I think I can take it! >:3
again though, I am really, really not a fan of anime and the anime artstyle in general (blergh! XP) so I´m not sure how I´ll cope with that in particular, but then again, an artstyle does not make a game! u3u
AND HANNEMAN SOUNDS LIKE A WINNER TO ME!! I looked him up and OOOF!!! he may not have NEARLY as many wrinkles as I´d like him to have, but the facial hair is definitely a step in the right direction! ;3c
NOW YOU GOT ME INTERESTED!!
LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

I think that's an interesting direction and I'd read it. Even if you did it as a stand alone outside of the series. Take the pressure off from having it be comparable to the others maybe don't call it a part 4 just explore that story instead. I think your strongest writing in ssss was the small details like you did some really good things there between the making out (which is good too) that was the best part for me. A light fun part 4 might come to you later but until then...
hey, thanks! i’m glad you noticed the little details; those are always my favorite to write into a fic and it makes me really happy when people catch on to them. and to be honest, i don’t rly know what i’m going to do moving forward. i don’t think i’ll write anything outside of the series i already started, that’s for sure.
i know a lot of ppl are waiting for part 4, but i’m p satisfied with where i left it? at this point, i don’t rly feel all that compelled to finish the series in any way. it ended, i think, where it basically needed to end. a lot of ppl were upset bc kim technically never reciprocated, but the only buildup in the whole series was rly just leading to them finally having sex, and they did. the major ‘conflict’ of the series was resolved, bc they finally crossed that line. it ends with a promise of more, ofc, as so many smut fics do, but imo anything that happens after that point is essentially whatever the ppl who are reading it want to make of it.
like, to me, at least, it feels complete. i may go back and write part 4 eventually, but as of right now, it’s not something that i’m super dedicated to. writing part 3 was extremely taxing for me. by the time i finished it, i couldn’t stand to look at it anymore. i kind of lost my love for the series while i was still writing it, so until i find that passion for it again, it’s probably going to remain as it is. :/

Hey, sorry if this is a stupid question (you totally don't have to answer it if it is), but I was wondering what the difference between bisexuality and pansexuality is? I tried looking online but there's a lot of conflicting answers, so I don't really know which is the right one. I've also heard some people say that being bi, as opposed to pan, makes you transphobic. Is that true?
hi! it’s definitely not a stupid question. i’m always happy to talk about bi stuff.
first of all, and i think this is the most important thing: being bisexual does not automatically make you transphobic.
there is nothing inherently transphobic about bisexuality. you can be bisexual and transphobic, absolutely, but there’s nothing actually linking them together because you can also be transphobic and gay, or straight, or pan. there’s nothing exclusive about bisexuality that makes you transphobic. anyone who tells you that is biphobic.
now, as for the difference between pan- and bisexuality, it gets a bit trickier.
more often than not, the definitions overlap, which is why it’s so hard to explain the differences. it also depends on how you define bi- and pansexuality. for example, i identify as bisexual, but if someone else were to define me solely based on my dating history, they might say that i’m pansexual because i’ve dated/been involved with both girls and nonbinary people. a lot of people believe bisexual people only date men and women, which isn’t true at all. i’ve dated nonbinary people & i’m just as bisexual for it.
a lot of the time, it comes down to personal preference. i could identify as pansexual if i wanted to because my experience & the definition of pansexuality overlap sometimes, but i feel a deeper connection with bisexuality. it resonates with me in a way pansexuality doesn’t. for other people it’s the opposite way; maybe on paper they “should” be bisexual, but pansexuality fits them better so they identify with that instead. both are good and valid!
the myth of bisexual = transphobic comes mainly from the prefix “bi”. it is believed that because bi literally means 2, bisexuality is defined as “attraction to men and women”, which excludes nonbinary people and is thereby transphobic. this is not true. most, if not all, bisexual people i know define bisexuality along the lines of “attraction to 2 or more genders”. this can, and often does, include nonbinary genders.
now for some more general definitions!
pansexuality is about not having a gender-based limit to your attraction, or that gender isn’t a big factor (or even a factor at all) when you decide who to date. pansexual is about being attracted to people regardless of their gender. from my understanding, this means that gender doesn’t really factor into your attraction to someone.*
bisexuality is about attraction to 2 or more genders. this could mean attraction to men and women, or women and nonbinary people, or men and nonbinary people, etc. there are many variations of bisexuality. being bisexual doesn’t necessarily mean the same kind of detachment from gender as pansexuality does. bisexual people experience attraction towards multiple genders but that attraction doesn’t always look or feel the same. that’s one of the reasons i identify as bisexual; because gender is a huge factor in my attraction to someone. i don’t experience the same kind of attraction to for example men and women, and the impression i get from pansexuality is that attraction looks/feels more or less the same regardless of gender. i could be wrong though!*
* pan ppl are welcome to correct me on any of this!
tl;dr there’s no clear-cut difference between pan- and bisexuality. at the end of the day, it’s about preference. bisexual and pansexual practice, like who you date or sleep with, often look the same. therefore the key difference is within the individual person who might feel more or less comfortable with either label. the myth that bisexual people are inherently transphobic is rooted in biphobic ideas of what the “bi” in bisexual means.
