fucking OBSESSED with orpheus being dream and calliope's son and the detail that calliope blamed morpheus for his death is sending me bc it's like. taking the myth interpretation where orpheus looks back out of excitement, out of hope and out of love, and eurydice smiles, and doesn't blame him, because she knows she's so loved — like that orpheus as dream and calliope's kid, and the sheer power of a parallel that makes with dream. orpheus, who is full of hope, who's flaw is loving too much; and dream, who is, arguably, humanity's hope personified ("i am hope") and who's greatest flaw, too, is loving too much

Hey by the way Kabru spoilers time
Cuz I just noticed something about his explanation of the dungeon’s growth
He’s fucking wrong
He’s completely fucking wrong about all of it
It’s so logical, it sounds so sensible, it’s such a clear chain of cause and effect… but because he doesn’t know about the demon, he’s completely wrong about how any of it works
Kabru’s Theory of Dungeon Maturation:
1) dungeon is found
2) adventurers go into dungeon and find treasures
3) treasures run out (shitty people ensue?)
4) adventurers leave
5) monsters breeding in the dungeon overwhelm the surface
However, from the Canaries, who are demonstrably shown to have far greater knowledge of the dungeons and the demons (fucksake Milsiril you shoulda told the boy), we have this:
Tumblr media
Here we see the explicit gaps in Kabru’s knowledge
1) people find the dungeon (yup)
2) people find something valuable in the dungeon, adventurers ensue (pretty much)
3) less treasure on the upper levels leads to less adventurers (yup and here’s the major change)
4) new layout, MORE treasure on upper levels and subsequent increase in adventurers, supplied by demon, also bigger and better monsters (has no reasonable explanation outside of demon funding, no wonder he didn’t get it)
5) monsters overpopulate and break out to the surface; presumably as part of the demon’s overall world domination plan
More people in the dungeon does feed the demon and the dungeon itself, but not in the way Kabru expects; it’s the desires of those people that make the difference, not the people’s presence or energy
Emptying the dungeon won’t fully starve it, especially not with groups already on the lower layers ready to take over, but it is actually very effective for what the Canaries want - the big crowd attracts the dungeon lord’s attention, Kabru trying to empty it brings those selfish desires to the forefront, and less civilians in the way is always helpful (once they’ve served their purpose)
He’s so fucking close, and his explanation makes so much sense, but that one key missing piece about the demon (and the renewed treasure) means that his own efforts to prevent level 5… are meaningless
Killing the people who take advantage of others isn’t going to change that the dungeon will lure people deeper, feed on them, and then overwhelm any defences
The monsters don’t spill out because there’s a number of adventurers that needs to be maintained to keep them under control; they’re not breeding naturally, they’re coming from an infinite Monster Tap the demon pulls whenever it wants to
All Kabru is doing by trying to keep the number of adventurers up is actually feeding the dungeon more and more of their desires; now, it’s not like he has a consistent plan to do this, but since it’s his motive for murder it’s pretty funny that he’s so wrong
And that his firm and devoted desire to rid the world of monsters would make him extra delicious to the demon
His whole overarching purpose is to understand the dungeons so that they can prevent more of them from being created, to get the answers that the elves and dwarves and gnomes aren’t sharing…
And that being underpinned by having one single key piece of information knock his whole strategy off course is just. Chef’s kiss
He’s really lucky Laios had a big ol’ Protagonist sticker slapped across his titties and a far more complex and nuanced set of desires which monopolized the demon’s attention

A Revelation was a FUCKING REVELATION
THE LAYERS? Can we just discuss it for a moment because this level of emotional writing deserves a fucking dissertation. I have some thoughts to share
Firstly, protective Kara can rail me. I’m so ready for that
Lena “killing” Lex and then dealing with the complex emotions of feeling guilty because he was her brother? 🤌🏻 ✨chefs kiss✨. The fact that she didn’t know if it was better that he was dead or alive is utter perfection because it makes so much sense. She may have killed her evil brother which is good because he’s evil but bad because he’s her brother. Such good writing. I love you
kara being the only one understanding the nuances of Lena’s grief? OH MT FUCK THIS DESTROYED ME IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY
Lena breaking down finally when she realizes that Kara understands and Kara just letting her cry? Like pls you have my heart
all the almost kisses fucking hell, author, the way your writing can mess with my fucking head should be studied
the bed scene was cute as fuck and Kara being so attuned to Lena’s heartbeat that it can wake her up? I kicked my legs out and squealed
Kara’s whole speech had me “he chose darkness/ you resisted it” like fuck me this was great
Lena realizing that she’d kill lex again to save Kara is the stuff I’m here for because THE FUCKING GAY IS EVERYTHING
Kara finding out Lex is alive and promising to bring him to Lena even though lex is her mortal enemy and wants to kill her? Like this level of devotion? I’m fucking here for it.
and that kiss. THAT FUCKING KISS 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
this is long and I am sorry but I had feelings about this fic and I needed to get them out. YOURE FUCKING AMAZING PLS NEVER STOP WRITING
Omg, anon. I love you! This is one of the best messages I’ve gotten 😭❤️❤️❤️
I appreciate this so much, you don’t even know.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the feelings Lena felt after shooting Lex 😭❤️
thank you for this message. It made me so happy ❤️❤️❤️❤️😭

god Pasithea Powder is so fucking delightfully layered on every re-listen.
I’m just starting a s1 re-listen (to allow the newest season to have MAXIMUM EMOTIONAL IMPACT, natch) and the way it builds out context gradually, and slowly reveals things about each character that totally re-frames everything while STILL making so much goddam sense for each character is SO. GOOD.
also just: the emotional complexity of the characters right from the jump - the familiarity, and anger, and grief, and humor all wrapped up together?? Just MWAH. Chef’s kiss!
Also also: really really enjoying this re-listen with the additional insights from the hiatus book clubs too! Especially the Regeneration Trilogy and De Profundis, which I had never read before my previous listens. Now that I HAVE read them, i just gotta say: I can totally see the influences and they are deliciously angsty and nuanced and I love it. Especially enjoying the sense in the epistolary format here that they are constantly mentally writing and re-writing their own self-narratives about themselves and each other with each message they send. VERY Oscar Wilde/Bosie and very very good.
random fave line reading/lines and other random things that stood out to me this time shoutouts for s1e1:
“I never got any better at time zones. Let me know when you get this.” sophie you are such a little shit and I love you.
the way Jane structures her messages like goddam formal essays to try to keep her emotional distance. Jane you are such a NERD and I love you also.
the way Sophie rambles and constantly interrupts herself to try to keep HER emotional distance
the way they both utterly fail at actually keeping their emotional distance more and more as time goes on.
the way Jane refers to sex as an “assignation”
the way Sophie intentionally/unintentionally overshares about certain things - “ I refueled there once and bought a sandwich that gave me the shits like you would not believe.” (lol) - as a shield from actually being open or vulnerable (not that she’d have a good reason to be willing to be open or vulnerable at this point, but still)
the shred of lettuce story - god i forgot that this was from right away in Ep1! OOF. It so powerfully conveys SO MUCH that’s at the crux of this whole entire story. Well done.
“Keep your gaze sharp and your guard up.” and “They should be screening your food, though” - Jane’s begrudging concern and affection that bleeds through just the tiniest bit despite the formality and little digs and despite EVERYTHING about her history with Sophie.
what a good show.

Heyy love your account. Would love your take on Veer and Sabe from Class. What does she like about him? What romantic scene do you want to see them do in season 2? Hope you can answer. Lots of love - Ann
Wow where to even start? Chaos meets grace is probably the jist of them isn’t it? We all know opposites attract and it’s always a hook point in many shows but it’s done so well in Class. There’s tropes all over the place but it’s all the ones we love and the chemistry just flows seamlessly. I love loved LOVED Guzman and Nadia in Elite so I was not expecting to love Veer and Saba so much but I did ! Granted they’re not as fleshed out as the Spanish counterpart but just the show is so desi, the local music vibes and characters who are so relatable and real and who we as kids have seen around us, kind of makes Class much closer to my heart than Elite will ever be. It’s darker and more nuanced. The color palette, the cinematography, it’s just so unique and it just adds layers to the show and couples as a whole. While Guzman and Nadia date on fairytale streets of Spain, Veer and saba have dates in the junkyard surrounded by mud, demolition, reconstruction, public eyes and scrutiny and if that’s not symbolic of their uncertain future I don’t know what is.
Lol I guess saba sees in Veer what we all see in him. The subversion of expectations from someone like him. He’s an asshole with everyone else but with her he’s soft, gentle, caring. He’s an entitled brat but he’s also apparently a gentleman? Who won’t take advantage of a situation. That touches her. His genuine concern for the well being of his trouble maker sister. Saba, as we know, can relate lol. Faruq is a handful too. The way Veer fucks up massively but then has the courage to publicly apologize. He’s confronted her dad twice , once to apologize and once to fight her case to stay in school. A girls gotta melt at that. Him not resting until he has her apology. Despite failing many times lol. His self insight that comes slow but does come eventually lol. His determination to do better despite his self destructive tendencies. He’s a work in progress for sure, but there’s a lot of lovable things about him. His loyalty and protectiveness another one. The list goes on… which is probably why he has that ugly temper. Coz otherwise Veer is basically a privileged arrogant teddy bear tbh lol.
Nadia and Guzman had so many great moments in season 2 ugh. The first time she dresses up at the club and he can’t keep his eyes off of her. Their first kiss. Their first time ahem ahem… that locker room scene? Lol if that happens in Class I would just die ❤️👌 But one of my favorite moments is also which comes later when Guzman tries to help out Nadia and gets employed with his dad to pitch in the workload so Nadia can study lol. Imagine Veer working for Saba’s dad so saba gets more time to study lol. Wouldn’t that be a treat to watch ! Haha. Also jealous Guzman was *chef’s kiss* so I bet Veer can do it even better if given the chance. That would be so so fun to watch.
Thanks for asking ! I’m obsessed with this show and them :) What about you? What would you like to see with them?

Here's a Ted Lasso lb nobody asked for, so I can stop flooding @lifeisagiftdontwasteit's inbox.
EP 103 under the cut!
Rebecca Welton is a powerhouse of a bitch that's gonna crack at some point very soon and I CAN'T WAIT.
"Siri, call shithead."
LMFAO.
Directing and editing in this show like *chef's kiss*
No okay I mean Ted is the purest cutest mfr out there and I get it but can we talk about how sexy it is when he fixes his hair back? When it falls to his forehead and he slides two fingers back and-- ✨
"So, use Jamie as a decoy?"
Yeah he's gonna love it.
"Manager innocently feeds young woman whose relationship does not define her."
TED LASSO NEEDS TO BE PROTECTED. OKAY?
"Jamie's Tart Breaks Tartt's Heart."
"You have no idea of the power of rhyming in this goddamn country."
I LAUGH AT EVERY LINE. HOW DOES THIS SHOW DOES THIS? Last thing that made me laugh this much was like. Idk, TWW.
The "I know the owner of the paper scene"-- I keep pausing and coming back to see each of their reactions because the actinG.
Like I love the nuance in Ted's face? That little "She's amazing, isn't she amazing, look at her, my boss is great" smile, and the turn of his head. And how everything goes from like screwball comedy to really serious in their face in like microseconds, these people are beasts when it comes to acting. Just fucking beasts.
Like. Mind the next few lines in the exchange between Rebecca and Higgins
"There's no way she can trace that photo back to me, can she?"
"...yes."
"What do you mean 'yes'? Did you not use an alias or a burner phone?"
"I'm not a spy Rebecca, I just a director of football operations."
"And equally proficient at both."
"Well, thank you. Wait."
The way she says the "What do you mean yes???". The entire exchange is just delightfully unhinged. It holds such a delightful comic exasperation, and the actress clearly has a solid grip on this kind of comedy, this really in-your-face thing, super reactive etc.
But then... the exasperation --idk, is it just me projecting or does the desperation really comes through between the cracks?
Like. At this point we've seen enough to know there's some deeper stuff going on with her, and the range of emotions on the second episode is really something. Specially when she tries to be kind: her kindness feels guarded. The script the takes that guarded, wounded kindness, and turn it into rage, and she turns the rage from the words into comedy gold, but there's desperation in that rage, because she never let go of that wounded-guarded thing? I mean ?????/!:$3&3&2'dkss
She takes the hints of deflection in the script and builds so much complexity into a line or two -- how the fuck does she do that? How the fuck does someone even has that much control.
And the writers know and they're very fucking good and they take that and manage to layer even more on top of what the she does and.
I have so much respect for everyone who writes for the actors. Everyone should always do it. They'll invariably show you the five hundred layers of sheer humanity in a stupid line about toy soldiers or burner phones or not being a spy and it's the most beautiful thing in the world. Actors impress me every time, dude. every day. they're literally the reason I do what I do
"I spoke to the owner of The Sun--"
"You spoke to god?"
I'M HOLLERING I DID NOT SEE THAT ONE COMING
"You know what you do with a tough cookie? Dip 'em in milk"
I'm shipping these two so hard you have no idea. It's been 3 episodes what the fuck
Who'd've thought I'd be actually liking Roy. Huh.
I'm in love with keeley.
That's it. That's yall gotta know.
Keeley.
"Made me think of you."
[Puts a cactus down the table]
"Its strong and a bit prickly."
Like I said.
Keeley.
I love to see Rebecca's moments of vague vulnerability. The small cracks, the moments when she's being really honest but there's this very thick veneer of being sensible and professional and logical.
"Oh my God. That means there's a picture of you naked in a yacht."
Keeley.
"Where did you get those?"
"My mum."
SUCH A GENUINE SMILE. I DARE SAY SHE'S FLATTERED.
Rebecca is my favorite trope of character. The "Rich, Smug and Issues™" type. And that is usually a trope reserved to men, and I'm fucking thriving that there's a woman fitting this so well and it's so well acted and at least so far so well written.
Oh my god did Rebecca just bonded with someone 🥺🥺🥺🥺 AND WITH KEELEY?
I'M GONNA SCREAM.
Ted's "I appreciate ya" is just... Like. Perfect characterization. Just. Fucking perfect.
PHOEBE KICKING THE BALL RIGHT IN TED'S NOSE OH MY GOD
I think I just learned something a out comedy here? Like, it's obvious when you think about it, bc comedy it's all about timing, but most jokes only work if you do it so fast there's no time for people to notice what you're going for? Like she just takes the ball and kicks it and when you register it you're already laughing.
"Let me ask you this... Is my tongue still inmy mouth?"
THE CHANGES IN TONE I'M GONNA HAVE A STROKE THIS SHOW HAS NO BUSINESS BEING THIS GOOD
Oh my god I love Roy ;; I can't believe this
WAIT IS KEELEY/ROY GONNA BE A THING?
OH MY GOD PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
the-the-the changes in her expression that last shot, I'm-
Oh my god who the fuck is hannah Waddingham?
Jesus fucking christ.
[she’s already half melted into Ted’s charm fight me]
Edit: OKAY LET'S TALK ABOUT THIS LAST SHOT SHALL WE
Let's talk about Rebecca's little smile. A smile that's unsure and wavering and brief and that comes at a moment she probably didn't want it to come -- because it's all about Ted being so, so, sweet. And also because yeah, he's gonna fail!!! And then it slips into something sad and wistful and now she's mad because her plan is going so smoothly down the drain.
Because for some fucking reason everyone likes Ted fucking Lasso.
Even her. She likes Ted.
And then when she screams "FUCK" is more than just her plan failing because of external reasons, it's her plan failing because even she's starting to surrender to his sweetness and are those-- yep she's this close to crying out of anger and just sheer desperation because nothing works and what am I gonna do and--
This show. This fucking show.

Tumblr media
Nominated by @wingedcatninja
Static (series) by @peridottea91
peridottea91 is going to single-handedly convert me to like series. I just re-read this gem and had to share it. In another life, she could have been a writer on the show, she’s so good at getting the characterization right for our boys. This OC, too, is an intiguing, layered personality that adds an extra dimension of mystery. And the whole story is perfectly woven in with canon. Two thumbs up. A must read.
Wish (oneshot) by @thoughtslikeaminefield
It’s just a drabble, but it made me feel so many things in so few words. I don’t even know what to say about it, other than it’s brilliant and if you love Dean Winchester, you have to read it.
Bad Medicine (oneshot) by @deanwandamons
This was lovely, and hot, and it made me giggle.
Nominated by @risingphoenix761
Because You’re Worth It (oneshot) by @thoughtslikeaminefield
I love a good crack fic, and I love some good Samwena content, so this is right up my alley. And a great mix of funny and fluffy!
Kings Don’t Kneel (oneshot) by @slytherkins
Few things in fic give me as much joy as Tara writing Crowley, and she hits all my favorite spots in under a thousand words. Struggling with emotion is hard enough for an unfeeling demon, but grief and loss–and the pain of knowing those emotions are unacknowledged–are enough to bring anyone to their knees. Beautiful and succinct, and all the angst!
Nominated by @peridottea91
Heaven (oneshot) by @evansrogerskitten
This fic is so beautifully written and just really captures Dean’s personality while still smacking you in the face with the most amazing “and then I saw her” moment!! Best still my heart!!! And the whole SamxEileen subplot!! The whole fic is just *chef’s kiss*
Nominated by @impala-dreamer
The Sun (oneshot) by @crashdevlin
It’s just amazingly beautiful. Short, sweet, and full of wonderful emotion. I loved every single word.
Nominated by anonymous
Dive In With Me (oneshot) by @sp-oops
This was a gorgeous, genuine account of the reader and Sam finally, FINALLY crossing that hurtle.
Coming Home (oneshot) by @there-must-be-a-lock
Lou builds us a story with such detail and precise ache that we forget to breathe. She teaches Dean, repeatedly, that he deserves to be happy.
Shackled (series) by @itmighthavebeenintentional
Val started her Demon!Dean x OFC series like a building storm. Miriam Bard is a fellow hunter, another older sibling with more internal demons than she cares to name. Sam calls her in on an old favor. Before long she doesn’t know if anything is real or who she can trust. Dark fic, so good!
Shattered Breaths (oneshot) by @dontshootmespence
Nicole dove deep for this kink bingo fill, and it is well worth every word. See how the Omega reader learns to trust the Winchesters and just what it takes for them to give up protecting themselves and lean into possibility.
Nominated by @the-girl-who-runs-with-winchesters
Devil May Care (oneshot) by @becs-bunker
This was such an interesting plot idea and amazing storytelling. Not that I had expected anything less from this talented author, of course.
Rough Ride (oneshot) by @luci-in-trenchcoats
A fun quick and very heated oneshot that made me smile at the end :)
All About Lovin’ You (oneshot) by @deanwanddamons
You know me, I can never let a month pass without diving into some angst, nor can I resist praising a fellow guppy for their amazing work. And this one’s got both! I got sucked in right from the start. It goes from heartbreaking to heartwarming, and from hot right back to sweet.
It’s About Time (oneshot) by @sorenmarie87
I randomly came across this one and it made me smile so much. Probably one of the most inventive ways to play matchmaker that I’ve heard so far.
Nominated by @dontshootmespence
For Better or For Worst (series) by @stusbunker
She does intrigue like no one else and doesn’t get the love she deserves!
Marked (series) by @there-must-be-a-lock
This is so fucking vivid it's ridiculous. There's smut, there's angst, there's sweetness and it's all maddeningly good.
Nominated by @negans-lucille-tblr
Desire (onsehot) by @princessmisery666
This fic is the very definition of smangst and I loved every second of it. The fact Stacey claims she can’t write smut baffles me when I read this fic 😍
Dirty Little Secret (series) by @pink1031
Whenever I’m asked what my all time favourite fic is it’s this one. I didn’t read rpf before this but it pulled me in and I’m so glad it did! It was just incredible and gave me my obsession with the idea of dating J2.
Nominated by @lovetusk
Me Likey & We are real (oneshots) by @impala-dreamer
They were both fantastic and on point. Drunk Dean is a rare and beautiful sight, and there’s nothing I love more than comforting a down and out Sammy. Well done.
Nominated by @impalaimagining
Currently Thinking About Jensen... (oneshot) by @negans-lucille-tblr
This is such a short and effective little piece of smut. The way it teeters on the edge of absolutely and filthily inappropriate puts it on a whole new level of dirty. I am a huge fan of last-line punches to the face no matter what the genre is, and that’s exactly what this is. It leaves you begging for more in the most desperate way. It’s a quick read but it gets the job done.
Midnight Confessions (oneshot) by @katymacsupernatural
I love the way this fic has the reader second guessing herself even though she has no recollection of doing anything to upset the guys. I’m always here for an appearance from Sam to push his stubborn brother and their bunkmate in the right direction. Admittedly, I am a sleep-talker, and I’ve said my fair share of embarrassing things (including yelling at my husband about wanting a grilled cheese at 3am), but if I could just once have something I said in my sleep get me a kiss from Dean Winchester? Hell yes.
Nominated by @deanwinchesterswitch
Coming Home (oneshot) by @there-must-be-a-lock
This is a beautiful heart wrenching story showcasing Dean’s desire for love and need affection and how few times he actually receives it. Denying himself of what he needs, until he doesn’t.
Unspoken (oneshot) by @deanscherrypie
A wonderful little drabble about how Dean lets you know he loves you without saying anything at all. Such a beautiful line… “All his broken pieces matched yours with mosaic complexity, and somehow you found a new kind of home within each other.”
Don’t Need An Excuse (oneshot) by @amanda-teaches
A beautifully crafted story from Dean’s POV about his girl and the tender loving moments in time that couples share. And, damn that ending, my poor heart.
Nominated by @there-must-be-a-lock
Anything And Everything (oneshot) by @rockhoochie
This fic honestly just took my breath away. You can feel the longing and wistfulness, and the writing is superb. There’s so much depth and detail here, it feels real and vibrant and lived-in, in a way that very few fics do. AND I love she writes Dean’s POV.
He Is, Therefore I am (oneshot) by @stusbunker
All I can say about this one is BROTHERS BEING BROTHERS. It's totally stream-of-consciousness, and it really does feel like you're in their heads.
Leaving Heaven (series) by @thoughtslikeaminefield
Such a badass, snarky narrator with a distinctive voice, and her Demon Dean is dark and awful and sexy as hell, and there's so much depth and nuance in their interactions.
Golden Hour (oneshot) by @fangirlxwritesx67
It's straight-up wish fulfillment, fluffy comforting goodness, and I think everybody needs a little bit of that in their lives right now.
Nominated by @princessmisery666
The Question (oneshot) by @girl-next-door-writes
Death by fluff and it was so worth it !! This was perfect, of course Sam has some grand plan to propose and of course it doesn’t go to plan but ended up perfect anyway!! Was fun and sweet, loved it!!
Carry On (oneshot) by @kittenofdoomage
I love Rhi. I swear everything she writes, even AU’s, could be canon!! Characterizations are always on point, stories are engaging and make me feel something every time. This one is no exception. If I could I would send it to the writers to show them this is how the show should end!!
Kings Don’t Kneel (oneshot) by @slytherkins
A small drabble from Tara and as always it gave me all the feels. It could be canon, if anyone asks me I will tell them this is exactly how Crowley felt. This made me sad and I totally wanted to hug Crowley and tell him it would all be okay.
Nominated by @thoughtslikeaminefield
Cocky (oneshot) by @stusbunker
Sexy, fun, and real. I love your Dean, Stuie!
Golden Hour (oneshot) by @fangirlxwritesx67
Comforting and cozy and swoony!
Nominated by @littlehotmess26
Until The Day I Die Again (oneshot) by @fictionalabyss
Mel writes Dean x Benny amazingly and this fic is one of my favorites.
Happy Birthday, Baby (oneshot) by @fictionalabyss
This was a birthday gift to me and it was soo good. Mel did a great job.
This Isn’t One Of Mine (oneshot) by @sorenmarie87
Dawn stepped out of her comfort zone for this one and it turned out phenomenal.
Goodbye, Sweetheart (oneshot) by @sorenmarie87
This fic is heartbreaking and I absolutely love it.
Nominated by @kate-huntington
While You Sleep (oneshot) by @foreverwayward
A heartwarming little fic about Dean living the domesticated life we all wish for him. The writer has a very clever way of storytelling and the end might come as a surprise, only adding to the emotion it already brought along.
Findings (seires) by @kathaswings
This is one of my favorite series out there and I revisited it recently. The overall story arc is a mystery I just had to unravel and I couldn’t put it down if I wanted to. The bond between Dean and Mackenzie is so precious. Writing a child isn’t easy. I’ve read plenty of books and seen plenty of films in which the maturity that was added wasn’t natural, but this author handles the Mac’s dialogue amazingly well. What’s also interesting is the jumps from point of view between Dean and Y/N, giving very personal perspectives on the gripping story.
Heartbeats (oneshot) by @there-must-be-a-lock
I’ll start by saying that I don’t ship Dean and Cas together, but I do appreciate the people who do. What this little piece of art does is incredible, however, because while I was reading, I found myself rooting for them. The writer does a great job by using the literal human heart as a backbone of this story. Intriguing and very well executed.
Everything That’s Yet To Come (oneshot) by @fictionalabyss
The author took me by the hand through this moving little one shot, which feels like a collection of greatest hits and wishes come true. It offers peace and closure not only for the older Winchester brother, but for the reader as well. Beautiful piece of writing.
Take A Drunk Girl Home (oneshot) by @amanda-teaches
Dean taking care of others; it’s his nature and shows what a kind soul he truly is. The situation sketched here is no exception, and it’s softer than one can imagine. The pace is steady and the balance between fluff and comedy is just right. A lovely read.
The Demon Inside Of You (oneshot) by @foreverwayward
Curing Dean from the demon that he has become proves to be difficult when he’s so hard to resist. What else is hard to resist, is this beautiful pitch black one shot. I don’t read Demon!Dean fiction often, because it still feels foreign to see the character that I love so much turn into something so evil. This however, is so gripping and well written, that the darkness swallows up the beholder. Rough, hot, sad, narcissistic, all these ingredients packed up in one hell of a story.
Curves And Edges (oneshot) by @kittenofdoomage
This equally sweet, sexy, funny and sad story is a big shout out to all women who think they don’t meet the beauty standards and feel like they will never be good enough to get noticed. It is one thing to replace a name with Y/N and call it a reader’s insert; it’s a gift to make every person reading this feel like they are the character in this story. The author handles every woman’s insecurities with grace, making her words both relatable and soothing. Her spot on version of Dean reminds us that we are beautiful, desired and unique.
Watch Your Fcking Mouth (oneshot) by @impala-dreamer
Dean falls under a frustrating curse, and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a long time. I was wheezing, couldn’t breathe and died laughing. It’s astonishing how the writer can juggle comedy and sex without the two ruling each other out. An uplifting read.
Life For Rent (series) by @winchest09
Conspiracies, deceit, crime. A strong family bond, blossoming love, oh, not to mention the sex. This series is intriguing beyond imagination and certainly not just another mobster fanfiction. The writing is smart and I could tell from the first paragraph that it’s loaded with hints and foreshadowing, but I couldn’t pick them out. This triggers a curiosity like an itch I can’t quite scratch away until I finish reading this story. And so I wait eagerly and drop everything the second a new chapter comes out. An absolute must read!
When You Least Expect It (series) by @coffee-obsessed-writer
Talking about an epic love story, but it’s so much more than that. The music that plays such an important factor, the setting that is Seaside. The fabulous supporting characters Bri, Rob, Jason and Jared, the wardrobe, not to mention the wonderful little gems and details that this author weaved into the story, showing how much love she has put into it. This is without a shadow of a doubt my favorite RPF I’ve come across.
Nominated by @girl-with-a-fandom-fettish
The Unexpected (oneshot) by @impalaimagining
The desperation and neediness between characters is just…I can almost feel through the screen. And the gif at the top of the post is the closest thing to porn Tumblr allows now is HOT.
Criminal Love (series) by @kalesrebellion
This mob fic has a lot of things going for it: mob!Dean, big brother Benny (which I didn’t know I needed in my life, but apparently I do), mystery, and a unique way of incorporating a lot of familiar faces from the SPN world. It’s 6 chapters in and I am DYING to see what happens next because the last chapter left me shook!
Unplanned Parenthood (oneshot) by @erins-culinary-service
This fic makes me long for more canon dad!Dean because he’s just so good at it and it feels like it would fit in so well. The author nailed the family vibes and I love that she found a way to make it canon plausible (something I just can’t seem to grasp in my own writing); well done, doll.
Changes (series) by @katehuntington
This fic is super unique as it is like a series rewrite, but rather than using “Pilot, Wendigo, Dead in the Water” etc., Kate is writing her own episodes! Episode 1 just wrapped up, with my personal favorite being part 10 because the characterization of both Winchester brothers felt so spot on to me. Zoe, the amazing OFC and star of this fic, might be the coolest person ever and I wish she was my best friend. Heads up though, this is not your CW Supernatural; it’s darker, dirtier, and probably a lot closer to what the Winchesters’ lives are actually like.
Nominated by @mrswhozeewhatsis
The Man on the Side of the Road (seires) by @supernatural-jackles
This is a seriously awesome Dean AU fic! Both Dean and the reader have so much baggage, but they’re working together to fix each other and it’s just BEAUTIFUL. It’s a series, and I can’t wait to see how it ends!!!
Nominated by @emoryhemsworth
Never Alone Again (oneshot) by @dissect-me
This author was kind enough to take the time to write about a recent trauma I discovered happened to me as a child and how Dean would react/comfort me. It’s powerful and really helped me. ❤️
Nominated by @fangirlxwritesx67
Laissez Les Bons Temp Rouler (oneshot) by @thoughtslikeaminefield
M is the kind of author that is the reason you have the “four recs per author” rule because otherwise I would just be submitting her entire masterlist every month. For a talent like MJ, all it takes is a photo to spark an entire story. This photo of Jensen was particularly inspiring, and MJ did it justice. Hot, drunk, sexy, just UGH.
Where Is My Shiny Gun (oneshot) by thoughtslikeaminefield
Do you love Dean? Do you love Donna? Do you love Sam? Does your mouth water and your knees go weak just a little thinking about all 3 of them together? Do you need some generous, consensual, sunshiney, smutty love? Then check this out.
Leaving Heaven (series) by thoughtslikeaminefield
Demon Dean meets his match in the most compelling OFC I’ve ever read, bounty hunter Tazi. Where to start with this series? MJ works some of her best magic yet, seamlessly weaving the story into the show we know so well. Her Dean is brilliant, as always, every supporting character spot on. The action is tight, the murder wrenching, the sex smoking. And as good as it is, as perfect as Dean and Sam are, as impatient I am for every chapter .. I would read it all just for Tazi. Tazi is an OFC worthy of novelization: tough, sarcastic, sexy, and fully realized. She’s so beautiful and broken that you can’t help falling in love with her as you read. If I could ask everyone to read just one SPN FF ever, it would be this one.
Three Bad Ideas (series) by @there-must-be-a-lock
She’s just getting started on her Everything prequels but, by every indicator they will be JUST as filthy as the original, with even more emotional depth and character development. Frankly it’s HOT and heartbreaking and her voice for Jared is so, so good, and so is Jensen, and I’m just all over this love story. I screamed at her when she published, that if I didn’t know what came next, I would be HEARATBROKENED (that’s how excited I got, that I forgot how to speak.)
Ocean Eyes (oneshot) by @there-must-be-a-lock
The ocean is my Happy Place and I’m a sucker for Sam so this fic just hit all my sweet spots. A lot of us are looking for comfort fics right now and this is uniquely heartwarming.
Shackled (series) by @itmighthavebeenintentional
I KNOW this was nominated last month but there are more chapters and it just keeps getting better! For every question that the story answers, it asks two more. Also, it’s started getting smutty and whoooooooo boy.
Anything And Everything (oneshot) by @rockhoochie
I don’t even remember why this lovely lady was asking for prompts but I sent one that I think was, listening to records, first kiss. I had long since forgotten when she dropped this 8K word MASTERPIECE on all of us.
It’s such a sweet in-character Dean, but a relaxed side of Dean that he deserves and we don’t really get to see. It’s soft and sensual and just… you can feel it while you read.
Nominated by @manawhaat
Sex Ed (oneshot) by @cleighwrites
This is a type of wincest I’m not sure I’ve experienced before, but I can say without a doubt that I fucking love it! It’s your classic little brother Sammy looking up to Dean. It’s the show. It’s their relationship to a T, but with that little bit of helplessness that makes Sam feel like such a fucking kid! I don’t even know if my normal wincest loving self would call this actual Wincest, but wherever it falls on the radar, it’s wonderful!
Passion (oneshot) by @bohowitch
This is poetry in motion, just like Sam is. This is a beautiful, firery, perfect ode to all that is Sam Winchester!
Neptune Rising (oneshot) by @atc74
This is such a clever and refreshing AU! I don’t think I’ve ever read one like this and both characters are nuanced in such believable ways. It’s not too long, so you should definitely take a sec to check it out!
Shackled (series) by @itmighthavebeenintentional
What can I say about this series other than HOLY FUCK!! It’s got twists and turns and secrets and guilt and worry and drama and excitement and passion and fucking everything you want in a good, juicy, keep you on the edge of your seat kind of story!
There’s a feral brutality to the way she portrays Demon!Dean in this that is actually scary and makes me nervous in real life. I find myself looking around the room when I read this, pulling my feet in from off the side of the couch as if this version of Deanmon is gonna snatch me up if I’m not careful. It’s intense and SO. DAMN. COMPELLING. And it’s not even a fucking reader insert. I find myself worrying about Miriam (the ofc) at random parts of the day long after I’ve finished reading the latest chapters...
This series is a fucking MUST READ!
Celibacy, Interrupted (oneshot) by @thoughtslikeaminefield
Any fic with Jody x a Winchester is my jam, but this one is like, no bullshit, just fantastic interaction and sultry, perfect ‘smut’. Goddamn. This leaves me in a pile of goo not even for myself, but FOR JODY!
Let Go (oneshot) by @luci-in-trenchcoats
So bdsm seems to have been a theme in my life for the past month and I don’t know why, but this fucking fits the bill. I recently dodged a bullet with a ‘dom’ (read: a bossy guy who wanted nudes who ignored care and consent) and this fic is like, the complete opposite of what I experienced. I’ve read and done research and talked to enough people to know what real bdsm looks like and that saved me, and this fic only reinforces that proper bdsm lifestyle.
It’s gentle yet firm, and it forces you to let go of control even when you feel like you HAVE to hold onto it. That force caught me off guard when I read it, but it makes so much sense, and every aspect of this really, truly is well thought out and spot on, good, caring bdsm. If you’re interested in it, this is a great place to start your reading and research!
When 2 Is Better Than 1 (oneshot) by @wi-deangirl77
Not only is the smut fucking glorious in this, but Ketch’s gentle nature is 100% what makes this for me! I’m not used to reading him as gentle or caring and having him work with Dean in this to help the reader, not to fill his own needs, but truly coming at it from a place of care and worry, melts me into a pile of gooey feels.
Tumblr media
Thank you all for the awesome work and great feedback!
These are not actual awards! This system is set up so everyone in the pond has a chance to share the love and promote a fic/author that has grabbed your attention. The more people that participate, and the more everyone remembers to submit their own fics after posting, the better this will be :D
THANK YOU ALL AGAIN, KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK, AND AS ALWAYS, HAPPY WRITING!

obviously I have to ask for jin guangyao ♥️
How I feel about this character:
I LOVE him. He’s one of my absolute favourite kinds of villains - where there are just so many shifting layers to him, so many different and contradictory truths swirling around each other and any number of them could be true at any given moment. I love how adept he is at spinning every situation to his advantage, even when he’s taken by surprise, and how quickly and seamlessly he can shift from “gloating and murderous” to “desperate and victimized.” I love the little nuances in body language and facial expression he has - the cold malice that gleams in his eyes when he tells Xue Yang to kill NMJ, but the way he flinches when the blow actually lands; the lil “fuck you” bow he gives his dad when he’s tossed out of Carp Tower; the campy cock of the head he always does when he’s Villain Monologuing. I love the pathos seeded through his storyline, even in little moments (like when his dad won’t let him hold baby Jin Ling). I love how much he relishes murder... it’s extremely good. And I love how much credibility and sympathy he’s actually granted in the temple scene (as opposed to being immediately shut down by the other characters).
And I also love his musical skills! It’s not everybody who can make a seamless musical arrangement to disguise an agitating song as a soothing song!
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Xichen!!! The manipulation! The betrayal! I’ve mentioned this to you already, and it’s @coldwind-shiningstars who originally brought it up (to give credit for observation), but the fact that their story ends with LXC stabbing JGY, and then JGY saving Xichen’s life, even though given their characters you’d think it be the exact opposite. Poetic cinema *chef’s kiss*
And they just have so many cute little moments in between! The little bowing ritual they have! The fact that in the confrontation with NMJ at Nightless City, there’s a shot of JGY clutching the back of Xichen’s robes as he cowers behind him. The guqin flirting!
Given his last words to Xichen, I do think JGY genuinely did care for him. And I think it frightened him, because he knows caring for someone is a liability, and makes him vulnerable. So there’s some nice delicious conflictedness there.
JGY/NHS is also a very very good messed up ship and pleases me greatly. And while I don’t think JGY cared about Huaisang in the same way that he did Xichen, I do think he believed that Huaisang wasn’t a threat, and so didn’t mind indulging him a considerable amount. And the way he spits out Nie Huaisang’s name upon discovering his betrayal makes it sound as though he was genuinely shocked by it.
(The Terrible Threesome of LXC/JGY/NHS is not, I should clarify, strictly a “triad” in its construction; it’s more like LXC/JGY+JGY/NHS. That said, in my headcanon-verse, there is a nonzero chance that they all ended up in bed together at least once.)
Oh and also, very very guilty JGY/Xue Yang hookup pls and thank you.
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Do I.... have any relationships of his that I’m invested in that don’t involve sex in some way....?
(Possibly NMJ, but I am, mmm, disappointed with the way NMJ’s prejudices get the better of him in a tense moment, and tbhhhh I’m not entirely convinced JGY’s feelings about that dynamic didn’t have a sexual tinge to them.... whoops)
My unpopular opinion about this character:
I feel like just, unabashedly loving him miiight be unpopular? But then again I don’t have a good sense of how villain-policey this fandom is.
The opinion that he cared for Xichen might be unpopular, I suppose.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
The part in the book you wrote about wrt his mom’s body/the general backstory of how he owned the temple would have vastly improved the temple arc in those last few episodes on top of providing some more depth to him. Do wish we got more of his mom/his relationship to his mom in general, though I’m not thrilled about having another dead mother.

March 14th-March 20th, 2020 Creator Babble Archive
The archive for the Creator Babble chat that occurred from March 14th, 2020 to March 20th, 2020.  The chat focused on the following question:
How do you react to readers predicting your plot twists?
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
Depends when they do. A page or two before it happens? Both of us get to feel clever. Yay! Months ahead? Well, obviously the thing I thought a a big twist ain't it, so I get to decide what other thing to focus on. I usually don't change the plot on reader predictions, but I can always change how a twist is presented from "Big surprise! Bet you didn't expect that" to "Well, ain't it neat to FINALLY have confirmation about that thing?"
Funnily, the best plottwist I ever wrote was in my now defunct comic. I thought it was obvious, but my few readers went "WOAH, didn't see THAT coming." So these days I try to just write the story and let the twists fall where they may.
Pistashi
ASDFPHIaewpf a friend of mine was reading my comic and he was making a lot of theories, a bunch of them was way off but he managed to be 100% accurate about one of his theories and I just started laughing nervously when he talked to me about it before it happened in the comic. This was years ago and the thing already happened and it's not a big deal anymore, but at the time I felt proud to write something that was obscure enough to not be on the reader's face but at the same time having someone figure it out after connecting the dots
I have little twists that happen in a more funny way, and it's usually used for comedy, and my readers seem to like it
but that's probably because of the expectations in humor coming from my writing style
which is usually bad puns and character reactions to absurd situations
and I agree witch chalcara, sometimes we can feel like we failed a plot twist when people see it from miles away
which is true, but sometimes even when they figure it out it's best to leave it as it is
I've seen a lot of writers fucking up their stories by changing plot twists that were stablished just because "people found out too early", and retconing a lot of the story in result
like, making a plot twist consists in creating some kind of foreshadowing
to make the twist not seem too forced and taken from nowhere
also to make it rewarding for those who searched deep for those clues
idk I love these little foreshadowing/clues we can leave for our readers
to make the twists even more powerful and meaningful
RebelVampire
I want to second a lot of the above. A plot twist should not be completely unguessable. Because if nobody guesses it, it means to most readers it's gonna feel like it makes no sense and came out of nowhere. The goal of a true twist is to have as few people as possible guess it but then when it's revealed, the reader smacks their head going "how could I miss all these clues."
Pistashi
exactly
Deo101 [Millennium]
Readers predicting things usually makes me lead with "oh no, I'm predictable!!!" And then makes me thing "wait, no, it means they're picking up on the hints I've left behind." Though sometimes it's predictable, like if someone guesses the actions of the next few pages, that's less of the readers picking up on hints and more just guessing right. But guessing big plot things, j think, is a reflection that I'm making things as clear as I need to, and I'm rather fond of it
Tantz Aerine (Without Moonlight)
99% of the times I am delighted if they guess the plot twist. I like it when I feel like my readers are on the same page as me (pun ...maybe not intended?) and see where things are going. Since my stuff is character driven, it tells me they can read the characters and their personalities well enough. However there was this one time when I had intentionally depicted something that was not going to be the historical norm (namely the p-51 mustangs' coats of paint on a cruiser in the opening scene of my WWII webcomic Brave Resistance). A war history buff called me out on it IMMEDIATELY saying "wait, these aren't how they're supposed to be!" and nearly spoiled the entire plot on page 2! I had to DM him to tell him to tone it down, and explain to him why the planes where the way they were. He apologized and stopped, but I'd wanted to throttle him for a while there
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I agree with Rebel re: the purpose of a plot twist. In that sense, though, I don't think my story even has plot twists. There is no moment anywhere in the story where I want the readers to go "how could I have missed all the clues!!!" ... On the spectrum of brainy vs hearty, my story is very close to the extreme end of hearty. Like, think of stories like The Little Prince or My Sweet Orange Tree. Even when unexpected things happen, it's never about the brilliant reveal. The most shocking thing in My Sweet Orange Tree comes out of nowhere, and it works for that book. Heart of Keol is a lot like those two in this regard. Not exactly the same, but pretty dang similar!
So back to the question, honestly? I want people to be able to guess. The usual bane of my existence is the opposite problem: people not knowing wtf is going on. My story isn't supposed to draw its strength from its surprises, so guess away (edited)
eli [a winged tale]
I love it when the reader guesses the gist of the plot twist a few pages just before the reveal. I sort of follow the novel structure idea that the reader should see what’s coming next right before it hits them, hence rewarding their investment in the story. Wild speculations without the clues I’ve planted are interesting. It does make me wonder if I relied too much on tropes or left too big of the crumbs. That being said, I’m not too fussed by readers predicting the general directions of the plot because it’s all about the character reactions. Could they predict that too? Maybe, to a degree. But there are a lot of subtext I try to write in my characters that give some nuances that I feel may entertain even those who guess correctly how the story would go. TL;DR: guess away. Love reading theories. The story is set so I won’t be changing anything big but perhaps layer the reveal with subtleties.
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
I've actually never had readers guess what's coming next. I mean, unless you count obvious, broad stuff (such as "the MCs get together"). I mean, it IS a romance. But in regards to big plot events, no one has gotten remotely close with their predictions (which kind of surprises me, because I drop clues everywhere). To be fair, I'm only a chapter in, so I guess it makes sense. But I am excited for the day when people finally guess
eli [a winged tale]
Same Cronaj! The predictions I’m speaking of are from my betas reading the entire script I love it when then go—- “omg this [plot point] must mean [reveal!]” .... right before the reveal
Feather J. Fern
If anyone does pick out certian plot twists I will be like "Yesssss people do think like me, I am not crazy" XD because most of my twists are all shown from the start through hidden background things so if people found them I am excited they took time and effort to figure out twists
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
I love it. I haven’t been disappointed about it yet, and I don’t think I will be. It doesn’t make me change the twists at all - in fact, I’ve even shifted some story elements around to give the readers even more confirmation that they’re right, earlier on in the plot. I want to reward them with a treat, and now they can revel in their cleverness a bit longer Hee hee.
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
I love it too, but I don't change things to make readers more right like LadyLazuli does. Sometimes I'm tempted to, though! My readers have good ideas!
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
I like plot twists so I like to set a hint of them off early tbh (edited)
but I try not to make it too obivous :3c
tho for those who like to guess, I welcome it. I like hearing folks and their interpretations even if it's not what I'm going for too lol
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
Admittedly, a lot of it is due to the nature of the medium. I know that webcomics take ages to get to major reveals or spoilers - I can wait to totally-confirm things, but I can't wait to... almost-confirm things? I don't want people to get tired or frustrated. I know I've gotten angry at anime shows that take 20 episodes to confirm something we guessed at episode 1, so I like when these things are all but confirmed early on. It can be really fun to know a secret that, maybe, the heroes don't know. It gives an extra layer of STOP, NO, DON'T GO IN THERE! in times of danger
But given my propensity to practically s c r e a m my spoilers to people who I can trust with the plot... a lot of it is just me bursting at the seams wanting to say YES YOU'RE CORRECT.
Patience and restraint. Essential things in webcomics
eli [a winged tale]
Indeed! So much patience needed I do love some excellent plot twists executed just chefs kiss
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
Yes! I just want to tell readers, "Oh God, you're right! Good job!" But instead I usually respond with a ":)" or "I like this analysis!" Which I think is basically just confirming it. But if it's a real life friend? I cannot resist from telling them everything. I've even spilled spoilers in this chat before, trusting that most people here haven't read my comic. Kind of backfired when I reached a major plot point and someone commented, "She's been waiting to bust out this plot point for so long." Oops, guess someone did read my forum posts. But even if I did spoil things in the comments, is it really that big of a deal? I'm the kind of person where spoilers don't detract from my experience of things and sometimes even adds to it. But some people care about spoilers, so.(edited)
eli [a winged tale]
Haha yeah it’s honestly so freeing to just tell someone about the spoilers
Here’s what I have planned that will wreak the readers muahaha
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Past me could super relate to that! But these days I don't really want to TELL people? I'm not sure if that's because I've changed as a person, or if it's because this story is different from my previous ones. That being said, my patience is not infinite. I am itching to SHOW people. Can't wait to get to those Big Scenes
"Big" is a weird adjective here because they're very small scenes in some ways. Very intimate/personal
But... you guys know what I mean. The scenes that every longform webcomicker is dying to get to
Mei
Oh gosh, I agree that plot twists shouldn't be entirely out of the blue, since it's nice to have the hints that give people the crumbs to follow a trail. But like, since I write a lot of these chapters way in advance, and if I had the chance I'd love for them to be readable in one go as opposed to a page per week, I fear that I'm boring people with a predictable punchline? That being said, I get so many comments that predict the end of the chapter or the punchline or the joke. And I'm always like "haha maybe????" but inside i'm like "oh my god, they got me, THEY GOT ME"
Ohh yeah keii I get what you mean
the scenes you're like, checking your watch, checking your current pagecount, and thinking "soon I'll get to draw it, and it will be marvellous"
eli [a winged tale]
Oh gosh those scenes for me are at the finale
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
TBH last time I got to one of those scenes (which was very recent), my anxiety skyrocketed because I was expecting someone to say something harsh. Because it happened in all of the previous ones. But this time it went well, so hopefully the future ones will, too?
eli [a winged tale]
Yay!
Deo101 [Millennium]
I think for me, I worry more than anything that it will ruin things for other readers, rather than me worrying so much about someone guessing right or me sharing spoilers.
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Someone DID say something harsh, but it was right before the actual scene and not about the scene and a lot of people got fed up with their attitude so I felt like it wasn't my fault, lol
eli [a winged tale]
Ruin things for other readers? Oh like someone predicting correctly in the comments?
Deo101 [Millennium]
Also yay! I always get anxiety about those kinds of scenes
Yes, someone predicting Something
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Well thought-out predictions are a lot of fun to read though, as a reader going through the comment section
eli [a winged tale]
I guess I stopped minding it and now embrace it they could be wrong or right and who knows until we get there~
Oh totally!
Deo101 [Millennium]
Oh I don't mind so much, but that doesn't mean I don't worry a bit too!
J like reading them for me, but I still think "I wonder if this will ruin it for someone else"
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Occasionally there are problems with Korean webcomics that were originally webnovels? Because people who've read the novel version sometimes spoil things in the comic comment section, and that's not cool. They're not even theorizing, they're straight up spoiling.
Deo101 [Millennium]
:(
eli [a winged tale]
Oh no that’s bad
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
But if people are theorizing, and the theories turn out to be right, that's all very fun IMO!
Mei
ugh when people spoil things it irritates me to no end. Let people enjooy it for what it is!
and yes!! that's one of my fave things too
Deo101 [Millennium]
Yeah, every reader is different though. I have some people who explicitly have asked me not to share spoilers, and others who kinda beg for them! So I worry if some people don't like to see predictions (I know my dad doesn't like when I guess things in a movie)
Mei
theorising, discussing with other fans, just chatting about what you think may or may not happen
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Sometimes you even see comments like "Hurry up, Konans! I'm too tired to think, so post some good interpretations/theories!" lol (Konan as in the detective... in Korea, it's a term for hardcore theorizers in webcomic comment sections)
Oh, I think movies are different
I don't want any form of verbal remarks while I'm watching a movie
Or like, if I'm marathonning a show with my bro, we're entirely silent except between episodes.
But comment section is like, you have to actually go there.
Deo101 [Millennium]
Some people might be like that for comics, too. Idk. I'm not trying to say i don't like to see theories I'm just trying to think of everything that makes me worry about them is all.
And for me, the biggest worry would be that someone seeing a prediction would make them enjoy my comic less. It doesn't mean I necessarily think it's all that common, but I refuse to say it won't happen I think
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Personally, I think that's not an issue unless you confirm the commenter's theories
like I've seen theories for things online where my first reaction is "that's dumb, that would never happen" and then it happens
some people will latch onto another person's theory, others will reject it, but i don't think people will take it as a spoiler in advance
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Yeah, theories are just theories
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I mean I know some people don't even want to hear other readers' theories, but if they are that extreme, they need to avoid the comment section on their own IMO?
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
^^
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
like... cool, I respect your preferences, but you can't hold me responsible, pal!
Deo101 [Millennium]
Again I'm not trying to say I don't like theories or I don't want them I'm just trying to think of all potential issues with them
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Granted, I'm one of those people who will scroll through the comments and read theories because I like to see all the smart people reveal the clues to dumb people like me
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I can relate to that
@Deo101 [Millennium] Understandable! Just don't be too hard on yourself for things that you can't control
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Those geniuses that remember details from 30 chapters ago and somehow manage to connect the dots
Mei
Exactly! The comment section is there, but it's their choice to read it, and also like it's not your fault either? like they're not YOUR comments
haha in our RPG games sometimes people drop character plot hints way at the start of the campaign, and my friend will turn up, 7 months later, " remember when Character A said this? I remember"
and everyone's like "what the heck?!" some people are just detectives
they can see it, they see the matrix
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Anyway, I love when my readers theorize! I don't believe any reader has guessed any of the major plot twists in the first two books, despite there being enough evidence beforehand to make a guess (closest was "whatever zebugu's doing, it's not evil this time" but not the specifics of what he was doing). Though, if they had, I wouldn't mind, since that's max two years they gotta wait before the reveal (and that's assuming they guess it on the cover page lol). Book 3 is a different beast - strictly speaking, there's enough evidence for someone to predict both twists at the end of the book, right now. And... that may be an issue, given that this book will take over three years to reach those twists. So... we'll see if anyone guesses them. What's weirdest is when people guess things almost correctly with absolutely NO hints. And it's some super specific and minor thing like "Mizuki is secretly the reincarnation of a thousand-year-old dragon". Like... there haven't even been dragons mentioned in the comic up to this point. Nor any events from a thousand years ago. And like, that's not exactly the truth, but how do you get THAT close???(edited)
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
They see E V E R Y T H I N G
eli [a winged tale]
Sometimes it’s a trope thing? But yeah wild speculations can be so wild but so spot on
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
but there aren't any fantasy creatures in the comic, at all!
except a squid with feet!
eli [a winged tale]
Lol whaaaat then yea not sure where the dragon part came from then
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Sherlock Holmes readers lol
eli [a winged tale]
Yeah detective Conan lol
Deo101 [Millennium]
Joke gone awry
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
basically
Feather J. Fern
Well I mean I have crack theories about random people being random things too so...
I can see where they come from XD
sagaholmgaard
tbh I think my comic is fairly easy to predict as it has a pretty straightforward narrative xD but I don't have that many readers yet so maybe in the future! I would have fun reading people's guesses and predictions :D
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
AAA my readers right now are so accurate. They're so smart. They make me want to post my entire buffer right now and prove them right.
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I wonder if anyone would be able to predict the next things happening in joe is dead
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
I at least have no idea what's going to happen next but am looking forward to it anyways(edited)
🌈ERROR404 🌈
i know that it's only because TH is still quite new, and I haven't gotten to the meat of the story yet, but i like reading some of the really out there predictions and worries i get in some of the comments lol
AntiBunny
I will never tell someone if their guess is right or wrong, but if they do guess it, it probably means I'm foreshadowing well.
Then again I also find myself writing by the seat of my pants, so plans are subject to change.

The original question mentions “plot twists” but I’m never trying to make a plot twist personally. I may intentionally obfuscate things, but I don’t ever try to do wild twists and turns. So when a reader predicts what will happen, I actually don’t mind, and I’m pretty happy that it’s following a logical chain of events. On the other hand, when readers are totally off base, I think that’s REALLY fun.
Cap’n Lee (Flowerlark Studios)
Most of my readers feel that my comics are twisty and surprising, but I often get at least one reader who correctly guesses what will happen, even if sometimes they’re joking or think their theory is wild and out there. Honestly it feels pretty awesome to have a reader shrewd enough to puzzle out the clues, because that means they’re really paying attention. I don’t have a very big audience and most of the time they’re silent, so anytime someone leaves a comment that is carefully thought out, it makes me really happy. As for the times readers joke or wildly speculate but inadvertently hit the nail right on the head, I find those very amusing. I really love stories with well done twists and turns, and so I try very hard to execute good plot twists that have enough foreshadowing to be ‘Aha!’ moments rather than ‘Where did that even come from?’ moments. So I love when readers are both properly misdirected AND when they pick up on the clues and deduce the twist.(edited)
DanitheCarutor
Does my comic have plot twists? I don't really think about it. People have correctly guessed things that will happen in a chapter, someone even guessed correctly on the climax when a character named Daniel was introduced... well, it was more like "I hope things don't turn out like -blank-!". I don't mind, just because they guessed something correctly doesn't mean they know how the story will go for sure, it just means that they're theorizing and that is something I always encourage. I don't think that means the story is boring or predictable either, some people are just really good at that stuff. Even though I don't think my comic is very mysterious/unpredictable it's still impressive when someone pays attention to all the little visual and dialogue details, then guessing correctly about a future event based on them. Nothing more flattering than someone enjoying your comic enough to analyze it.
Lmao! I can't tell you how many movies I've ruined for people because I guessed a plot twist correctly.
Cap’n Lee (Flowerlark Studios)
Haha, honestly same. I’m not allowed to make predictions during movies or TV shows anymore bc I almost always get it right. XD Webcomics I find a bit more unpredictable, though, because most of them aren’t nearly as formulaic as mainstream film.
DanitheCarutor
Yeah! Even if it's not obvious most of the time movies go by a pattern or set of traits, once you learn how they go a film or TV show becomes a lot more easy to figure out right away. The only time I'm stumped is when the movie is really surreal or absolutely awful. That's the nice thing about webcomics in a way. I assume a lot of creators haven't had professional training, and we want to tell a story more than be entertaining to the masses, so stories are less predictable. They don't always go by a formula, which can be refreshing.
Capitania do Azar
Aw man I would love to have some theories, but for the time unfortunately I don't I'm always super curious about how readers interpret things given they don't have an inside view of things

Do you have a favorite criminal minds villain? What about a most hated one? Favorite/least favorite storylines?
oh HELL YEAH I can get behind this ask!
I think for favorite villain, in general i’m always lowkey rooting for the women who go after awful men. like I just watched the episode where we meet will, and the unsub went after gross, predatory men because nobody took her rape story seriously. and then megan kane in season 4, the high end prostitute who took out corrupt and generally immoral business men. those ones are my fave like yes, girl. I see you.
for most hated villain, it’s askari. don’t fuck with my bb jennifer jareau. no sir. nOT ON MY WATCH YOU BASTARD.
favorite storyline. hmmmm. the storyline in demonology also valhalla/lauren were faves. for demonology it’s because i’m sO into exorcism creepy shit like that, so incorporating that type of thing with an emily storyline was just *chef’s kiss* plus it was the first time we saw a more in depth look at emily and tbh emily is such a layered and nuanced character I find her arcs SO interesting which leads me to valhalla/lauren. that arc was honestly just SO good. it was paced well, thought out, suspenseful, you name it. it didn’t feel rushed and we saw the aftermath of it, as well. (my biggest beef with 200, which was a contender, was that while it was built up, jj was basically fine right after and they didn’t address again for a year like oKAY) but anyway yeah lauren was a fucking masterpiece fIGHT ME
least favorite storyline was maeve and spencer. it was interesting at first but after an episode of reid mourning over her death I got real tired of it. they like to draw out reid’s trauma to an annoying amount, while (like I mentioned earlier) jj literally had her unborn baby killed, had a secret life, and got fucking tortured, but there was NO development of her ptsd that you know she would’ve had until a year later and even that was just one and done. meanwhile, we get episode after episode of those stupid phone calls, which okay whatever let spence be happy, and then after there were so many instances of him whining about missing her like dude. one, maybe two episodes of mourning are okay but honestly? it was too much. i’m also biased because while i like reid, I think the writers favor him waaaayyy too much and i’m over all the storylines he gets. give someone else some development ffs.
anyway thanks for sending this! I love talking about criminal minds !!!!
