[4.2 world quest spoilers]
this quest has told me the following about the characters' current personalities and i'll be using it as a reference point to write about them
- rene: silly!! silly and goofy!! just a silly guy :33 just doing his god complex thingy!! no but really he sounds like an edgy shounen anime villain in his dialog sometimes. but he's also witty. it's hinted that it's because he used to act out the dragon in the story. i'm so broken. guys he's literally howl jenkins pendragon you ever think about that. most definitely in love with alain but i think he would sooner gouge out his internal organs than admit it. from quiet, probably anxious yet determined and intelligent kid putting on a mask of reliability to handsome and eccentric silly little guy. my baby why do you say the most insane things known to mankind with the most innocent look on your little (droplet) face. you're so adorable
- jakob: DEVOTED. a little delulu i think. cunning and calculating, polite but will not hesitate for violence. #1 alain hater. #1 rene fan. definitely has forever been in love with rene. actually no, not love either, worse than love. some kind of secret third thing.
- maryann: fearful. severely traumatized, wishing only to live in her own bubble isolated from the world yet determined and earnest as she was before. melancholy, mourning their childhood when everything was okay
- ca(r)ter: absolute ICON. the exaggerated swagger of a man with maximized slay. smart. sarcastic. 100% delivery on jokes. could probably defeat plato and socrates in a fist fight. at once.
- alain: the living embodiment of autism i think. silly guy (ii). he doesn't realize rene likes him. rene probably calls him metalhead unironically. or bolts for brains.

Hello and welcome to Day 26 of "Let's Explore My Plot Bunnies"
I still feel awful 😷
Tumblr media
Today, I wanna present to you a kind of long idea that I had a while back. It's a Lout of the Count's Family and Pokemon (Crossover-ish?) idea.
It titled it:
"Into the Unknown: Cale Henituse's new life as a Pokemon Trainer"
The idea centers around the original! Cale Henituse, rather than KRS! Cale. And it's really long - both as in "explaining the idea" long, as well as series of book long because I have prepared Cale's Pokemon Teams for 8 Regions, but story wise I only have about 5 or 6 planned.
Basically, imagine that the Sealed God got wind that Cale's existence (together with Raon's, Ohn, and Hong's) will be his downfall from some Hunter that just wanted to cause chaos around. The Sealed God gets into his head to kill the 4 entities that would pose the most problems to his plans, but the God of Death intercepts the spells send towards Cale, Raon (not named yet), Ohn and Hong and instead of killing them, the spell send the four into another dimension - the Pokemon Dimension. (Arceus basically becomes father to a new child and grandfather to his new three grandchildren)
Cale Henituse is 17 here, Raon is 3 years old, and Ohn and Hong are 9 and 7, respectively.
The four appear in Kalos, near the place that Professor Sycamore was exploring. All of them are unconscious and injured - Cale has more negligible injuries, but Raon, Ohn, and Hong are malnourished and have big injuries.
Sycamore takes them back to his lab and nurses them back to health. Cale is the first one to wake up, and he is very much weary of everything and everyone around him. Professor Sycamore is the one who explains what this world is and that people coming from different worlds are somewhat common here. Although speaking and understanding what others say comes relatively easy for Cale, reading and writing are not as easy. Professor Sycamore takes upon himself to teach Cale how to read and write the alphabet of this world - and basically adopts him as well. (Sycamore already has a child, why not two?)
While Cale is fascinated with the creatures known as Pokemon, Ohn and Hong wake up. They are very much scared of everything and everyone around. The one that calms them down is Cale because he speaks to them in the language of their original world, which is way easier for them to understand.
When Sycamore mentions that there is another one left to wake up, Cale asks who. When Cale sees the baby black dragon, he is very much horrified. His mother, Jour Thames, always said that dragons are creatures that should never be bound, nor treated with disrespect. She taught Cale whatever she knew about these powerful creatures, so when Cale sees the harness on the small black dragon, he immediately tells Sycamore they should remove it since it is actually harming the dragon, rather than helping him or being a normal occurrence for such a creature - like Sycamore thought. (Cut him some slack; Sycamore didn't know if the harness is akin to clothes for humans since different worlds mean different costoms)
Turns out that the little dragon has some severe wounds around his wings, so he shouldn't try to fly anytime soon before he heals. Cale is somewhat worried about that, but the fact that he is in seemingly another world takes precedence in his mind at the moment.
Cale, even after Raon wakes up, still finds no way of getting back to his world. The only clue he has for getting back is the fact that "Legendary Pokemon" - as Sycamore calls them - exist and that they have powers beyond the imagination of humans.
While staying with Sycamore, Cale helps with things such as feeding the Pokemon under Sycamore's care or arranging some files with Alain, Sycamore's adoptive son. (Alain proves to be very much like his father and takes a liking to Cale very quickly, declaring Cale - at least in his mind - his younger brother.) This is how Cale meets an injured Absol with whom he connects during the months he spends at the lab.
The turning point in Cale's stay at the lab is when Sycamore's Garchomp - who is gentle and caring - suddenly turns aggressive. Cale notices there is something attached to her neck, so he and Absol, who wants to help, give chase to Grachomp. Unbeknownst to them, the little black dragon, despite his wing injuries, follows them. The chase stops at the top of Lumiose Tower, where not only do they realize they have a small injured dragon following them, but also Cale has his first taste of a Pokemon Battle together with Absol. Absol's Iron Tail manages to shatter whatever is on Grachomp's neck, and everything seems fine, but the black dragon falls off the tower when the small part of structure he is standing on crumbles. Cale dives after him, knowing that the dragon's wings were injured and they are saved by a Mega Blaziken.
Once this ordeal is over, Cale decides he should try and find a way back to his world. His best bet at the moment is going on a Pokemon journey and trying to find one of the Legendary Pokemon to ask for help. The black dragon is interested in Cale since he is not like all the other humans he has met and decides to follow him around. Ohn and Hong are also quite attached to Cale at this point, and they want to follow.
Cale's Pokemon Partner ends up being Absol, who likes Cale a lot and wants to help him.
And so Cale's adventure in Kalos begins. And many more adventures will follow.
Other things to note:
I have Kalos planned out from what is going to happen to Cale's entire pokemon team. The same goes for like the next 5 or so regions.
In Kalos, Cale will have two companions who remind him of Amiru and Eric. I haven't decided on a name for them yet, but I do know I wanna make them siblings. I want the girl to have a Pachirisu as a Pokemon Partner, while her brother has a Corphish.
Cale's Team for Kalos will be: Absol (who will mega evolve); Fletchling -> Talonflame (1st Pokemon caught); Honedge -> Aegislash (reminds Cale a lot of Beacrox; Caught when Cale explores the Parfum Palace); Croagunk -> Toxicroack (Remind Cale of Ron; saved Cale at one point in the story and decided to go with him cause and I quote "the kid needs protection since he ends up hurt all the time"); Slowpoke -> Slowbro (Slowpoke caught himself when Cale was at Azure Bay and helped move the Slowpoke away from the crowd; loves to lay on Cale's head and nap); Mareep -> Ampharos (caught around Route 12; evolves from Flaffy to Ampharos during the Team Flare take over of the Power Plant)
In this au, the gym leaders of Kalos have a small little test to dwindle the numbers of challengers they get at once. Viola will put kids to take pictures of some bug Pokemon without telling them that said Pokemon are very skittish and don't like loud noises all that much; Grant will make them climb up a wall till they get to its highest point (where the battle platform is) and he will battle them in the order they arrive there; etc.
I am throwing the Pokemon canon into the trash can here. There will be characters that shouldn't be as young as they are here. The reason I am doing this is because I like giving Cale tons of unhinged children to look after.
After Kalos, Cale becomes a researcher assistant and helps Sycamore and Alain with their work. Because of this, Cale is sent to other regions pretty often.
After Kalos, Cale goes to Hoenn, accompanied by Raon, Ohn, Hong and Absol only. There, he will travel the region with Steven Stone, a 16 years old teenager. Steven pretty much loves Cale like a younger brother, and he is kinda unhinged should Cale ever be hurt. In Hoenn, Cale is introduced for the 1st time to Pokemon Contests and participates in them, too. He goes so far as to get into the Grand Festival.
After Hoenn comes Unova, where Cale meets Steven again (Steven basically tricked his father into agreeing with him and letting him leave Hoenn). Cale and Steven also meet the mysterious N, a 15 years old teenager, with whom they end up traveling around. In Unova, Cale is chosen by Reshiram, while N is chosen by Zekrom. The main reason is that during this specific journey, Cale starts accepting that there might not be any way for him to go home - accepting the truth of his situation.
After Unova, Cale goes to Alola to teach at the Pokemon School with Professor Kukui. This was mainly something planned by Sycamore as a way for Cale to relax and not have to get into dangerous situations. Alain is also a helping as a teacher for Professor Rowan's summer camp in Sinnoh at the same time. During this journey, Cale will meet both new and old friends as he is trying to teach the kids at the school about pokemon. They even have a school trip to Hoenn for the Wallace Contest, a pokemon contest that Cale was invited to perform as the opening act of the 3-day-long contest.
After Alola, Cale goes to Sinnoh. Here, he will travel around with Riley and frequently meet with Reggie, a Pokemon Trainer who wants to challenge the Sinnoh League and his younger brother Paul, who is a year shy of getting his own pokemon starter. Cale and the others will have to deal with Team Galactic and their nefarious plans as well as Cale's own fears and doubts about his new life in this world.
Next up, we have Kanto where Cale re-encounters Reggie, who is setting his eyes on the Battle Frontier this time around. Reggie is accompanied by his little brother Paul, who just became a Pokemon Trainer not too long ago and chose Turtwig as his starter. Paul ends up admiring Cale a lot during the journey, while Reggie struggles with whether he wants to continue as a Pokemon Trainer or become a Pokemon Breeder. Cale, on the other hand, has his hand full with some of the revelations from his journey through Sinnoh, as well as the knowledge that a god wants him dead.
Cale got a necklace from his mother when he was young. The necklace was made from an unknown stone that no one in his world could identify. Lo and behold, that necklace was a Key Stone for Mega Evolution. How did Jour get her hands on that? Cale doesn't know yet.
I am very tempted to have Chou Jung Soo and Kim Rok Soo just plop into the Pokemon World at one point and Cale to have to take care of these two. Meanwhile, Lee Soo Hyuk has already reincarnated in the Pokemon World as Sui Khan, a trainer from Hoenn. His first meeting with Cale doesn't go all that well, and they both start on the wrong foot with each other. They do become friends later, tho.
Having Raon, Ohn, and Hong have a more... war-free experience would be good in my eyes. Let the children be children, if not in the canon, then at least here. Just let them enjoy going around the regions with Cale.
Alain is also like Cale. He is someone who appeared as a child from another world. The world in question was KRS's world, and Alain was pretty heavily traumatized by all that went down there. So Sycamore has a lot of hard won experience on how to deal with traumatized children - and he uses it to help Cale too because the kid might not be traumatized like Alain was, but he still shows signs of trauma at the beginning.
I headcannon that Og! Cale learned how to cook from Beacrox when he was little. He is now the resident cook every time he explores a region with other companions.
Trust me, the Sealed God will get his ass handed to him by Cale in the future. As a matter of fact, Cale does grow up during his travels: he is 17 when he goes through Kalos; 18 during Hoenn; turns 19 during Unova; 20 when he teaches in Alola; turns 21 during Sinnoh and is almost 22 when he is in Kanto.
Everything happened because a Hunter wanted to cause as much chaos as possible.
Raon learns to mimic dragon-type moves in this AU. Ohn and Hong also train to be strong too. They just don't get as many opportunities to show off at the moment.
To me, Og! Cale is a cinnamon roll that someone dropped in bitter coffee and forgot about. Which translates to "I wanna cherish him and wrap him in bubble wrap."
And this is about everything I have for this one.
So what do you think? Good? Bad? Let me know!
I know this is a bit late, but I am still sick, so my brain is lagging quite a lot. I also wanna say that all the days until Day 31 will cover very long fic ideas. Also, I have memes prepared for this idea that I will post later today.
Regardless, hope you enjoyed my ramblings. Have a great day/night and take care!
See you next time,

while i'm here: Jakob Ingold Teeth. what's the deal with em
so. none of the narzissenkreuz documents have a specific time frame on them. the closest we get to one is the knowledge that basil elton fought elynas during or immediately after the cataclysm 500 years ago, meaning everyone from the institute was born pre-cataclysm. this also gives us an idea of when the siege of poisson took place (also pre-cataclysm.) seymour says he was dormant for approx. 493 years, so there's roughly seven years between the cataclysm and the explosion within elynas that kills mary-ann and damages seymour.
But What About The Rest. there isn't a single date or even a rough estimate of time passing, and most of the documents are from rene, who we know grew increasingly paranoid and manic as he did his research, so any timeframe he gave would be... confusing, probably.
we don't know when things happened, which is a problem. we also don't know how old anyone is, which is a problem. and it's not like we can just guess.
mary-ann, alain, jakob and rene were all younger than eighteen while they were in the narzissenkreuz institute. alain was a child prodigy and considered able enough to work in a laboratory with an assisstant; though this doesn't tell us much, as we know there are workforce shortages because of the cataclysm. rene and mary-ann are given no identifying features for their age.
But Jakob. jakob. there are a few inferences we can make for him.
at the time of the trip to the vourukasha oasis, jakob only had three adult teeth. if we're to take that at face value, that places him anywhere between eight and ten. but can we really trust that? at this point, he's already been transformed, so we can assume his physiology isn't like a regular human's. rene and jakob have the same bodily composition, and rene has all of his adult teeth. most people have lost their baby teeth by the time they're twelve, but they can last until later.
which begs the question: Do Abyssal Beings Have Teeth?
some do. kind of. one of the rewards for childe's weekly fight is a tooth; this is actually from celestial voyager, but it's abyssal and fully-developed, so even though it's a sea creature we can assume Tooth Development is possible. which means loss and pushing in of new teeth. or they could just regrow their teeth, because if i'm reading into this right jakob's body has a composition kind of similar to elynas', which is similar to durin's, and we can pick up durin's teeth every other day.
so. we can estimate rene and jakob's age, now! rene is anywhere from twelve to fourteen at most, and jakob is likely eight to ten. which is where i throw a spanner in the works--Fucked Up Teeth Genes. while it makes sense for tooth presence to be used to rationalise maturity--nobody in the institute at this point is an adult save for lyris, and rene's very wary of the other adults around him--and be seen as a measure of experience, it is also entirely possible that jakob ingold formerly baker has a family history of just Not Having Enough Teeth, and i for one think that's the funniest option for why we're doing Teeth Measurements for aging.
this doesn't change that we don't have ages for mary-ann or alain. i'd say that alain and rene are around the same age, mary-ann's a year younger than them, and jakob's the youngest of their group. but we just don't know enough to say anything for certain

Incoming VERY LONG TSME OC rant they’re very improtant to me
Aster !!! My sweet baby (any pronouns just prefer they/them)…
Named Aster Starre, their whole idea is that they worked under Lysandre in a similar fashion to Alain before he was ever in the picture, but soon enough they realized what Lysandre was doing and fled, taking their key stone and charizardite Y. This, of course, leads to Lysandre getting PISSED and sending a bunch of Team Flare people to look for them, so they always have to watch their back. It’s technically also their fault that Lysandre got way more controlling with Alain, as he didn’t want another situation like that. Aster is impulsive, wary, intimidating and cold, but when they open up to someone.. their whole demeanor just changes. They become brutally honest, really funny and clumsy, super chill.. and all kinds of cool stuff. But they’re not very forgiving.
They appear throughout the various TSME specials, being somewhat of a secondary character until the fourth special. Remember how in the end of the fourth special, Alain walks through the forest alone? Yeah, well in that scene they meet outside and both walk together for a bit, only for Alain to LET THEM GET TAKEN BY TEAM FLARE RIGHT AT THE END. Super fucked up ik but it’s all Lysandre’s fault.
The next time they’re seen is near the climax, where they’re working under Lysandre again, but their personality is vastly different. They’re quiet, unmoving, and focused. Only Arceus knows what happened in that time period between their appearances. Nothing weird though. Don’t. Think weird stuff.
During the climax they do team up against Lysandre in like the second ep, but even after everything is done they still hold grudges against people, especially Alain. They know it wasn’t entirely his fault, but they don’t really… think about that. Really sucks, but I can’t blame them sorry.
NOW, TRIVIA (?)!
- They’re natively from Galar, and moved to Kalos at age ten. From Galar they got their shiny Charmander (Now Charizard), their Ceruledge, and got gifted their Oricorio. Once in Kalos they got their Eevee (now Espeon), and their Phantump.
- They’re 18 during the anime (and TSME specials).
- They bleached their hair like ten times, and it probably has a horrible texture.
- They play the acoustic guitar !
- Thin ice with the Boutique Couture people ‘cause they would try on clothes and not know how to fold them back up.
- In their bag you can find usual trainer items, (potions, revives, ultra balls, etc.), a large array of jewelry, a small bottle of hair bleach, a few celebrity drama magazines and a plushie.
- They’re particularly strong, beating a lot if trainers in the past but never defeating Lysandre. They’re still pissed abt the fact that they’ll never be able to beat him in battle ‘cause… ☠️
- Their Phantump practically adopted them, tagging along with them until they caught him. He’s like their fucked up unofficial kid ‘cause yknow. He’s a ghost. And a Pokémon.
ALSO YES I DID MAKE THEM IN A PICREW I can’t. Draw very well.

Escenario hipotética:Isaac presenta una novia a la tripulación por qué resulta que la embarazo (ya que según una publicación anterior dijo que lo que tenía entre las piernas estaba hecho con mucho amor), ¿Cómo reaccionan los fgg?
(Translated via Google Translate)
Hypothetical scenario: Isaac presents a girlfriend to the crew because it turns out that he got her pregnant (since according to a previous post he said that what he had between his legs was made with a lot of love), how do the fggs react?
I've gotten a similar question before, asking how the crew would react if Isaac had a girlfriend. But nothing about pregnancy.
That's actually very interesting to think about, because we don't know if Isaac is even capable of reproducing. He might technically qualify as a monster, but then again, some monster species can reproduce with peoples. Demons and skorpius, for example, mate with peoples to produce babies. But monsters always produce monster offspring, never peoples. Demon + human = demon offspring. Skorpius + human = skorpius offspring. And so on...
So if Isaac got a human pregnant, theoretically she would give birth to...whatever kind of monster Isaac is? Maybe their child would be a creature that looks totally human, but has no soul? Or maybe because Isaac's body carries his mother's divine soul, it might allow him to birth normal human offspring with souls too. We just don't know, and that's what makes this so fascinating!
I think the other Freelance Good Guys would be just as excited/scared to find out what pops out of this girl when the time comes...But until then, they would try to treat this like a normal pregnancy.
Evan tries to prepare Isaac for fatherhood the best he can, passing down all his knowledge about parenting and assuring him that "Grandpapa Atlas" will always be there if he needs a break. He's excited to be a grandpa to whoever/whatever this kid is.
Lukas tells Isaac he's an idiot for not wrapping his meat, having a child so young and out of wedlock. He says Isaac got himself into this mess, so he can get himself out, and he will not be helping with anything...But when things get dire enough, Lukas will help anyway. Probably because Evan threatened him.
Glenvar makes fun of Isaac because he has to change diapers and spend all his money on kid stuff now.
Alaine screams and runs around with excitement. She thinks the baby is going to be so much fun! She's already rushing out to buy toys for them, determined to be the most fun auntie ever.
Jeimos has a huge panic attack, worrying themselves sick over everything. Isaac is too young to be a parent! He doesn't have enough money or space for a child! He doesn't know what he's doing! This child may not even be human! His girlfriend might leave him and take the baby away forever! Glenvar might teach this kid a swear word! Aaaaah!!!
Isaac himself is really nervous because he has no idea what to expect. He knows his friends will be there for him, but he's not sure he's ready for something this life-changing. Evan tells him he just has to be a man and love this child no matter what, and Isaac takes his words to heart.
Linde acts happy at first, but suddenly gets teary and excuses herself to go cry whenever someone brings up the baby. No one really understands what her problem is. She remembers her own pregnancy that she had to terminate long ago, and being around babies always makes her weepy. She realizes she has to overcome her emotions so she can be a supportive auntie to this child.
Balthazaar warns Isaac not to get married, telling him, "It'll be the second-worst mistake of your life. You already made the worst one, no need to dig yourself deeper..."
Skel tells Isaac he can never give this child a happy life because he's a poor, barely-educated hillbilly mercenary. He advises him to adopt the kid out to a rich, classy family instead, saying this would be best for both Isaac and the baby. His words really get in Isaac's head and make him doubt if he can ever be a good enough father. Evan catches wind of this conversation, slaps the living shit out of Skel, and forces him to apologize to Isaac.
Javaan is really confused. He's like, "You...had sex with a woman? A real woman? On purpose? YOU? Huh...I guess my gaydar is broken..."
Elska congratulates Isaac on his new family. As is tradition in her culture, she dumps a bucket of animal blood on him to celebrate. Isaac is horrified, but tries to be polite about it.
Mr. Ocean admits he's jealous, telling Isaac he always wanted to be a father but never got the chance. He says he's available to babysit any time, promising he will definitely NOT get high and lose the baby somewhere, or forget to feed it, or accidentally sit on it, or leave his drugs laying around it, etc, etc...Isaac's like, "Haha yeah...cool, man...If I need a babysitter I'll totally hit you up first..." and then ghosts him forever.
Zeffer tells Isaac his ass better show up at work as soon as his paternity leave is up, because he won't pick up his slack forever.

BUT ALSO LIKE it’s not all peaceful cause you write about their anxiety and worries and hesitation so well n that’s what’s great about it. cause you can feel that love bleed through despite all that. anyways yea. i really loved ur fic
We're all here for top-tier communication and healthy relationships, baby!
I'm so glad you've picked up on that. I always try to keep things as realistic as possible in my fics. I don't think that a dozen long-stemmed roses really portrays a lot of love. Yes, it's a romantic gesture, but it's cliche and saturated. So, though Marc does get the roses for the reader, for me it's more important that he recognises her need to think over having a child.
Which is what I think truly went wrong with Marc and Layla. No doubt about it, the feelings are still there. Simply the fact that Marc looked over to Layla when Harrow was about to shove his staff on his chest is evidence enough. But that wasn't enough, and I think that was what they were trying to get at on the boat.
I try to incorporate more of a classical view of love. I think this video by the School of Life sums it up really well, and one particular quote really stood out to me "spending two hours discussing whether the bathroom towels should be hung up or can be left on the floor is neither trivial nor unserious."
Though the romantic gestures are nice, they're not going to really help you in the long run. I remember one of our family friends said that the most romantic gift that her husband got for her was a dishwasher. Not only because it freed up her time so she could spend more 'romantic' time with him, but also because of the fact that he's made an investment into their lives, has valued her time even if it isn't being spent on him. It's that idea of making her his equal.
I like to call it a more practical view of love, that has hard 'unromantic' conversations (e.g. fertility, housing issues when it comes to having a child) that sets up a relationship for success in the future. (Idk I've never dated anyone lol so take this with a fat grain of salt).
So, I think it's more than just 'despite it all' and actually 'because'. That's what their love is. This anxiety and hesitation testing boundaries and trying to compromise on them. Trying to explore this with Marc, his past and Steven has been a really gratifying challenge. It adds on layers of complexity that I need to consider and actually forces me out of that romantic view of love.
Honestly this was just my ramblings on the subject, so if you want to know about this I'd highly reccomend anything Alain de Botton has on love and romanticism because it really fleshes it out in a way that I can't.

Don’t apologise for rambling. I do appreciate it. Maybe a bit of my discontent comes from some fans who like to advertise that Alain didn’t deserve to win the Kalos league or he cheated or he got plot armour etc. I think what they fail to understand is that match was no longer just a battle between Ash&Alain,Greninja&Charizard but the battle b/w their ideologies&why they were battling in the1st place. Which in Ash’s case was to be d strongest& in Alan’s to be d strongest to protect loved ones.
pt2: I just think Alain doesn’t deserve the flak he gets from the fandom. I think his reason to fight/his resolve was stronger than Ash’s and that’s why he won. Because mega evolution draws power from the resolve of the trainer as said in TSME. If anything I just want journeys to resolve that somehow. Also I love your idea of Daigo going easy on Alain. I would totally want ash vs Alain to be a semis match. Unlikely as it seems. Btw It was fun talking to you& seeing your great ideas, have a great day❤️
Ohhhh! That’s v interesting, and I think all interpretations are valid, because it’s true that on my end, I didn’t tend to think of the whole Satoshi vs Alain as an ideology vs ideology fight. For Paul vs Satoshi, I do agree it’s an ideology vs ideology fight, but for Alain, I have always interpreted it as Satoshi obliviously making Alan take a first step out of a very, very bad place :)
Until meeting Satoshi, Alan was in a very bad mental state, and I agree he has an ideology of winning ‘to be the strongest to protect loved ones’ but so much of it was Fleurdelys manipulating him (and I think of this post, which does a brilliant analysis) it’s an ideology that does him more harm than good, and isolates him. Satoshi brings out a more candid / happier side to Alan, less burdened, which makes him forget that ideology for a bit, so I tend to view that finale match as Satoshi simply making Alan want to do something for himself (a baby step towards a better place even if Alan doesn’t know it), outside of all that Alan feels like he HAS to do (protect loved ones, gather mega-evo energy etc). His ideology still taints his fun with Satoshi throughout their battle, but I tend to see the starting point as Alan subconsciously wanting some sort of solace or release from all his burdens.
Similarly, I’ve seen the win as a very technical win, since Alan has been at it longer, breezed through the Gyms, Mega-Charizard X is part dragon-type so doesn’t even have a type-weakness to water, etc AND of course, yes, Alan’s resolve+deep bond with Lizardon.
I fully agree that Alan doesn’t deserve hate in any case! and I have definitely seen more theories with Alan as the first match with Satoshi to get him out of the way. That could very well be the outcome! I suppose I tend to give Alan too much importance narratively skadljksjla But if I were to do it, I’d do it this way.

Aelita and Saki for the character hcs?
The girls,,
Aelita
Sexuality;
Sapphic, I don’t have a specific idea in mind but she’s queer as fuck.
Gender;
Cis girl, she/her
Ship with character;
TBH I KINDA SHIP HER WITH ALAIN. This is because if protags have canon names with an option to name them yourself I usually go with the canon name and just see how I begin to view the protag myself. So anyway yeah I chose Alain in my first playthrough, really began to enjoy the MC’s dynamic with Aelita then the fucking game hit me with Chapter 15. Like, when I first went in all I knew is that there were canon names to the protags, didn’t know what to expect going in but I DIDNT EXPECT THE FUCKING UNDERTALE NAMING TWIST SJDJEIDIUW.
Like- never ever gonna happen. They will probably never even fucking interact but they’re still in my brain sometimes.
BROTP;
Her and Amber! They are cousins, I want to see them being annoying to each other, I want to see them doing family things I WANT THEM TO FIND AMBER’S DAD TOGETHER.
NOTP;
Texan seriously though I don’t really got one other than the obviously immoral ones.
Random Headcanon;
Absolutely the kid who collected random rocks and gave them to people. Kenneth was a frequent recipient of the rocks. He had a pretty cool rock collection before he died. She still gives random objects to people cuz she loves them and said random object reminded her of them.
General opinion;
I LOVE HER SM. If anything bad happens to her I will scream and cry. She is my girl and I’ll protect her with my life. Also, I really love reincarnation tropes/stories and she fills that niche for me lmao. Anyway she deserves only good things and if you say otherwise you’re WRONG.
Saki
Sexuality;
Pan Grayromantic!
Gender;
Cis girl, she/they
Ship with said character;
Fate lol. Oc x canon baby.
BROTP;
I find her’s and Amber relationship so fucking funny. They are the best frienemies fr. Also I want to see more of her and Erick. Chaos besties.
NOTP;
Again, aside from the obviously immoral ones I don’t have any.
Random hc;
She began to invent things when she was pretty young! She also 100% taped a knife and solar panel to a roomba as set it free into the wild. It’s still out there, waiting for it’s next victim.
General Opinion;
She is so fucking dumb, I love her sm, I want her to be safe and happy forever. ITS WHAT SHE DESERVES NO MORE NIGHTMARE RELAM FOR HER.

Again, here to talk about an OC (Pokémon Unova trainer), who I'll refer to by her last name, Sycamore
~
- Sycamore's paternal cousin is Alain from Kalos. Follows the HC of Alain being the son of professor Sycamore
- Her first memory of Alain is when he made a small fire in the kitchen. Well, that wild Fletchling landed on the window, how was he not supposed to let the pokemon in?!
- Alain always had a thing for dressing like pokemon. When he was little, he dressed in Squirtle onesies.
- When they met for the first time, Alain screamed in her face as an excited baby
- He absolutely does not like Cheren, but he's fine with her other friends. Cheren can feel his flaming ire from regions away, and it always makes him sweat
- Even though her dad's brother is a pokemon professor, and they live in a world of pokemon, her parents are terrified by the idea of her having pokemon
- She still went and caught her own pokemon: a Pidove. She was five or so. She snuck a pokeball, dragged Hilbert and Cheren with her to the grass, and ended up catching one on accident
- Cheren encountered a shiny Pidove there, but it flew away instantly
- She ran away from home to go on her journey
- Her parents that were terrified of journeys and wild pokemon, went on their own journey to bring her home. Ironically, they now love being on a journey and are much more advanced than her, despite starting later
- Sycamore made friends with a Minccino she found in some dumpsters, then catching him. In the same city, she found a Tepig and proceeded to set a city block on fire. Also on accident
You can ignore Cheren screaming like a madman because of this
- Her Minccino doesn't like others, but when it comes to Cheren, it's just on-sight nailing him in the face with a shoe and straight out hissing. Her Minccino even barked at baby pokemon. But to be fair, he knew something she didn't
- Emmet once chased her down a subway tunnel, while she was in a subway, like a Galvantula
- a "pokemon are friends, not tools" person
- She got banned from the league circuit indefinitely. The reason cited is aggravated assault (Blake is certain it wasn't her fault, but too little too late)
- Managed to land a job as a teacher despite that being broadcasted around the world, only because the principal thought she was a good fit for the job with her trainer past
- Cheren never gets a break. She made him go to class in his underwear, threw him out a window, a pokemon committed arson in his classroom, all his pokemon were nicknamed by Sycamore, he got a random email from Alain completely lacking context, and just... it's really just a new thing everyday for him.
- She punched Colress in the face, in front of Blake. Blake didn't hold that against her, and it didn't go on her record, but still. Come on, miss. He's really trying to get you unbanned, and it doesn't help that LOOKER doesn't like you
- Looker does not like her. He does not have a good impression of her. Blake had to force him to talk to her, for him to finally go "maybe I misunderstood everything"
Of course, not without making her cry first.
"I think there's a reason you're still single, Looker."
"Huh??"
- The Aspertia Gym is recommended as the sixth one to complete, but the gym is never available because it's still a school building full of trainers-to-be and pokemon, and... let's just say, stuff goes south instantly, and they're lucky they're funded by the league.
- Whitley, sweet bean, admires Sycamore, even when she was broadcasted attacking someone, because of a chance encounter. Sycamore doesn't remember her, but Whitley sure does
- Alain's rage just runs in the family. When it happens, it happens.
- Blake copies Sycamore's phrases because he thinks they'll help him blend in more. They do... but there are times he just gives the police more stress
Blake, sighing: I need a raise.
Looker:
Looker: I'm sorry, what?
Blake: And a box of donuts.
Looker: And a box of... okay.
Blake: For my friends.
Looker: Wait-
Blake: If I had any.
Looker: SIR-

Alex Turner’s film list
I'm bored today so I made a list of the films that Alex mentioned in interviews. Please feel free to send me messages if I've missed out anything.
1. Saturday Night And Sunday Morning (Dir. by Karel Reisz)
“I thought to myself, ‘That’s a right line, I’m gonna put that in summat.’ For a start it’s good because the film’s called Saturday Night And Sunday Morning and that’s kind of what the album is, so there’s a link there. And also, there’s a lot of people saying a lot of things about us and you don’t have control over it.” (NME, 2005)
2. The Graduate (Dir. by Mike Nichols)
Interviewer: What were your favorite coming-of-age films?
Alex: I suppose The Graduate. Certainly in the way they used the music in the film. I like the idea that it is sort of one voice [Simon & Garfunkel] singing all the songs in the film, and the way in The Graduate each song kind of plays out in its entirety, usually. That was a key to Submarine. (PopEntertainment.com, 2011)
3. Harold & Maude (Dir. by Hal Ashby)
Interviewer: What were your favorite coming-of-age films?
Alex: I suppose The Graduate... And Harold & Maude, too. I loved it.  (PopEntertainment.com, 2011)
4. Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid (Dir. by George Roy Hill)
(Talking about Black Treacle) “This was much later down the line. I watched a couple of westerns when we were doing this, like Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid which gets a reference in there.” (NME, 2011)
5. Mean Street (Dir. by Martin Scorsese)
Interviewer: And there's something about "Mean Streets"?
Alex: Yes it is: "You and me could have been a team, each had a half of a King and Queen Seat, like the beginning of Mean Streets, you could be my baby". Do you know that song at the beginning of Mean Streets ? Yes? Pretty smart, eh ? King and Queen seats like the seats at the back of a motor cycle. That's the best sentence I've written.
6. 2001: A Space Odyssey (Dir. by Stanley Kubrick)
“I sometimes imagine each word to be made using a three dimensional open-top glass alphabet. Each letter built to harness and transport the mirror ball liquid marble of the melody. When the 'substance' fills up the syllables they seem to shimmer and become weightless. With the addition of close harmony I see colours swirl together, parts of the lyrics glow and the way in which they float suggests that something like the 'star gate' sequence from 2001: A Space Odyssey is happening deep inside them out of view.” (The Telegraph, 2016)
7.  8½ (Dir. by Federico Fellini)
“The basis of 'Star Treatment' was something that I had at Shangri-La Studios when we were doing the Last Shadow Puppets' last record, so it'd been around for a while. That's where it started with, was that, and one day I started writing the words to it. I was watching [Federico] Fellini's 8½, that was on me mind.” (iHeartRadio, 2018)
8. World On a Wire (Dir. by Rainer Werner Fassbinder)
While he’s not especially big on conspiracy theories, he does like “moon stuff” and says, “Once I started, it was hard to put the lid back on the science-fiction lexicon. There was a film [my friends and I] were watching called World On a Wire -- it’s a [Rainer Werner] Fassbinder film -- and that was definitely what pushed me over the edge into, ‘Let’s go and write about another world in order to comment on this one.’” (Billboard, 2018)
9-11. Un Flic, Le Cercle Rouge, and Le Samouraï (Dir. by Jean-Pierre Melville)
“When I was writing this record, I was turned on to these three Jean-Pierre Melville films -- Un Flic, Le Cercle Rouge, and Le Samouraï -- that all star Alain Delon and have this jazz lounge club at the center of the story. And the clubs in these films were often very obviously film sets, which is something that interested me as well.” (Pitchfork, 2018)
12. Blow Up (Dir. by Michelangelo Antonioni)
“I always wanted to use the word ‘Colorama’ in a song ever since I saw Antonioni’s Blow Up. It was an unplugged neon light at the back of my mind for years.” (The Telegraph, 2016)
13. The Shining (Dir. by Stanley Kubrick)
For two months, he says, “I was going to the art-supply store quite often,” buying illustration board, slicing it with an X-acto knife, making different shapes. “I became quite consumed by that. Getting up in the middle of the night, going down and delving in. I kept calling it the lobby model, like the idea that sometimes those things sit in the lobbies of the buildings they represent - that loop is appealing to me, like in The Shining, with the miniature hedge maze in the lobby, and he’s looking in there and then he sees the people are in there…” (Rolling Stone, 2018)

Okay, I have finished season 2, and here are my first impressions. Beware of spoilers.
What I have ambigious feelings about:
Changes in the timeline. On the one hand, streamlining the timeline this way, making their spatial journey more linear, makes sense, and it definitely translates better to the screen than the original book timeline would have. But on the other hand, it did break the chain of cause and effect a couple of times, which I didn’t like. E.g. Diana manifested that baby chick in the book, because she was thinking about her own baby. The very same scene taking part in the series before she is pregnant makes it senseless.
Weaving. On the one hand, I loved the visual representation of weaving. On the other hand, I detect a big fail in logic there: the only weavers are Goody and Diana. Only weavers can see the strands. Yet three other witches, who are not weavers, are handing Diana the strands. So... What? The same goes for Corra. From simply an aesthetic point of you, I liked how she looked, but she resembled more of a phoenix than a firedrake.
Phillippe. I really enjoyed James Purefoy’s portrayal of the character, but I felt like the narrative stripped much of Phillippe’s genius. Series Phillippe is a smart, powerful man, but he’s nowhere near book Phillippe, who is two steps ahead of everybody.
Steven. His scenes with Diana were really touching, but the actor always looked somewhat uncomfortable, and the whole role was just simply missing Steven liveiness from the book.
The witch’s kiss/heart vein scene. I loved its intimacy, but the actual act was overdone, and overall it seemed painful--not even the bite, but the kiss.
Marcus thinking about handing over the Grandmaster title to Baldwin. On the one hand, this subplot works really well in fleshing out Marcus’ character, but on the other hand, nope, he’d never do that.
The miniatures. It felt a bit strange that it was Matthew and Diana who commissioned the portraits (and to be honest, Diana’s looked a bit off), but at the same time the pictures served as great reason to include Jack in the present-day plot.
What I liked
All the little moments between Matthew and Diana. Especially those teasing scenes in ep 1 and when he gives her the pants for riding.
The wedding night.
Kit. I actually really liked Kit. He was a bit less of an asshole here, so it made more sense that Diana forgave him, while on the other hand the way he tried to manipulate Matthew was great.
Okay, Louisa too.
And the way Kit lured Diana away! Yeah, Matthew being in danger would definitely work better than “hey, let’s have a stroll together.”
Having Aisling Loftus play both Sophie and Susanna.
Jack. Especially his scenes with Matthew.
Jack’s presence in the background in the present.
Elizabeth. It was one of my favorite portrayals of her.
All the little details, like the pockmarks on Elizabeth’s face, the ouriborus on the saddles, and the names of the alchemical stages on the walls of the Hart and Crown.
The wardrobe. You know I’m a historical costume nut. And Diana wore quilted bodices (I want to say jumps, but based on what I’m reading that’s a bit anachronistic and they should be laced on the front) over a chemise. There was not one unbound head of hair that was not contextually appropiate (e.g. braind coming apart during travelling, hair let down in the bedchamber). The men wore hats.
Phoebe and Marcus. We know so little of their courtship, I liked how the series filled out the blanks. (Also, any guesses what the bunch of sixes on the wall in Marcus’ kitchen might signify?)
Also seeing what’s happening to those who were left behind in the present.
The narrative tension in the second to last ep. It was a good idea to bring in that conflict with Elizabeth. The last part of the book is kind of sedate, so this addition worked really well on the screen.
It’s not like a like-like, but I’m mostly content with what they cut? I mean, they streamlined the plot and the cast of characters in a pretty nifty way. Do I like Annie, Tom, George, Alain, and Chef? Yeah, sure I do. Were they absolutely necessary for the plot? Apparently, no.
What I didn’t like
How they learn that Diana is pregnant. Since the series refused to entertain the thought of them having a baby before the fact, sure, it hits big (in a way), but they’re not given the space/time to properly investigate what it means to them. Beyond fleeting remarks that “I’m sorry we cannot have children together” it’s never addressed whether it’s something they want or not. So, yeah, the very least they would have needed one longer scene there.
Rudolf. Since much of the Prague section was cut (although I applaud the whole “hunting lodge” idea to cut production expenses), but Rudolf needed to be behaving in a certain way in certain scenes, he came off a bit inconsistent. “I hate you get out of my sight!” and then in the next scene “Just kidding, come back, please?”
How the wardrobe was used sometimes. Like, as I said before, I like the production design, but the directoral choice was a bit off sometimes. For example, especially when Diana is presented to Rudolf with her jacket undone and her shirt hanging out. That’s a big etiquette no-no.
Henry Percy barely got any screentime! He is a sweetheart! He deserved more!

Pokemon Journeys’ Bea.... Kinda Sucks
Tumblr media
Hello again! After a weekend of contemplating, I’ve decided to write a little blog review of Pokemon Journeys’ version of Bea from SwSh. Originally, I was planning to do after we get a bit more episodes of Bea, but with all the leaked episode titles we’ve been getting, I’ve got a feeling we won’t see this lady until sometime at late-February, or even March, so let’s just get this outta the way now.
Also, please note that since Bea has only made two actual appearances in the anime, many of the points I will talk about will be subject to change depending on how the writers will handle her in the future, but with all that said, let’s get right to it.
Before we begin, let me just say this: in the games, I find Bea okay. And in Twilight Wings, I love her character and I feel she had a great amount of focus and depth. However, in the anime, I find her.... a little lame. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate her or anything and I feel she has a ton of great potential. So much so, that she could honestly surpass her Twilight Wings variation, but as of now, I’ve got some problems with her.
Problem #1: Her Goal/Motivation
So my first major problem with her character is her goal. Like almost every other trainer we’ve seen in Journeys, Bea wants to rise her rank in the World Coronation Series so that she can battle Leon and take his place as the world’s strongest trainer. But here’s my question for though: Why? Why do you want to be seen as the world’s strongest trainer?
In many past regions, almost all of Ash’s past rivals had the “what” to their goals: Conquering a regional league. However, many of them also had different “why’s” that added to their own motivation. Paul had a brother to prove himself stronger than, Alain had his whole thing with solving the secrets of Mega Evolution for Lysandre as well as finding a way to cure Chespie’s coma, and Gladion wanted to find his dad. From Bea, I’m literally getting nothing from her. Does she have a master she wants to prove herself to? Well, we later find out she trained under Johto’s Chuck, but that’s all really. Does she have some kind of troubling childhood where she was initially seen as weak by her peers, and now with the chance in hand, she can prove everyone wrong by becoming the world’s strongest trainer? As interesting as that sounds, that doesn’t seem to be the case, either.
Without any proper motivation, I have no reason to care for her goals. Please, writers, in her next appearance, please give us the “why” to her actions and not the “what”. Bea has a really cool design, so this is your chance in giving her a cool backstory to boot.
Problem #2: Her Team Sucks
As I’ve mentioned, Bea wants to conquer her way through the World Coronation Series and take Leon’s place. And how is she gonna do that? With a team of all-fighting types? That’s not good enough!
Fighting types are awesome undoubtedly, but like all types, they have their weaknesses. Imagine if Bea faced off against a trainer who, in turn, had a team of all fairy, flying, psychic, or ghost types. She would be completely screwed and she must’ve been pretty lucky to reach her current World Coronation status with a team like hers. There’s honestly a huge list of trainers I can think of who could completely screw Bea over, like Agatha, Skyla, or Sabrina. Heck, if you really think about it, if she were to face Leon, who we know possesses a Dragapult and Charizard, she honestly wouldn’t get far due to Dragapult’s half ghost typing and Gigantamax Charizard crushing her team like ants because it’s a flippin’ half flying giant. And if she were to take Leon’s place, it probably wouldn’t last long since someone can easily identify her preferred type and screw her over with the typings I’ve previously mentioned.
As a matter in fact, let’s imagine a what-if scenario: Ash using Gengar against her Grapploct, who the anime seems to be emphasizing as one of her strongest Pokemon. Looking up her Grapploct’s moveset in the anime, Detect would only delay the inevitable and Close Combat and Octolock wouldn’t do anything due to Gengar’s ghost typing, leaving Liquidation as the only option Grapploct would have to hurt Gengar. Meanwhile, all of Gengar’s own moves can easily affect Grapploct, especially Psychic. And before you bring up the time Gengar lost to Korrina’s Mienshao, keep in mind this, he was taken down by a Beat Up attack, a dark type move that’s honestly pretty broken if you think about it. Does Grapploct know any dark type moves? Nope. Would any of her other Pokemon know some? Most likely, but my point still stands that, with the right mon, you can easily screw up her own team.
That’s why many Champions and Elite Trainers have well-diversed teams. Because if they just stuck to one type, then someone could easily take advantage of that. Many of Ash’s past rivals also had well-diversed teams to keep the stakes high whenever Ash battled them, just look at Gary, Paul, Trip, Sawyer, and Alain. Speaking of stakes...
Problem #3: The Stakes Are Kinda Small
As I just mentioned, because of how straightforward her team is, the stakes of her and Ash’s rivalry are honestly kind of small in that regard. But that’s not all. I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but in all of her battles against Ash so far, I still don’t feel the reason to take her seriously.
Going back in her debut appearance, before her battle against Ash starts, she states that she previously beaten Korrina and called her ‘weak’. And to that, all I have to say, so? Ash has already beaten her a while back, and then he became a champion, and then he beaten her again. I have no idea what you’re exactly trying to prove with that, Bea. Not to mention, we didn’t even get to see who she used against Korrina and her Mega Lucario. Was it someone in her current roster or perhaps a secret weapon? Why would you hide this from us, writers?
Anywayz, going into the battle itself, Ash lost without defeating a single Pokemon. ...Yeah, I’m still not seeing the reason why I should take her seriously, considering the only mons Ash used were little baby Riolu and newcomer Farfetch’d. If it were a three-on-three with Ash using Dragonite, but he still lost, then I would see Bea as a big threat to his goals, but no. And while the lost did lower Ash’s own rank, be quickly raised it back up off-screen by her next appearance, so I guess that wasn’t much of a big deal overall.
In their next battle, Ash used Pikachu and Riolu again and it ended up in a draw, affecting neither of their ranks. Even with a draw, I don’t see any reason to take Bea seriously. While she managed to take down Pikachu, it should be noted that it took two of her Pokemon to do the job, plus Pikachu’s one of the most inconsistent characters in history, so him losing to Grapploct doesn’t really bring in a lot of stakes. And since Riolu and Grapploct tied, that pretty much spoils the fact that Ash’s aura dog will most likely take the W in one of their next battles, especially since Riolu has now evolved into Lucario.
Most rivals in the past usually consistently beat Ash a few times in a row to really set up the stakes for their rivalry. It would add interesting conflict and dynamic in their final confrontation, but considering the recent tie and that Ash only used his two newest mons in their first battle, I don’t really care about Bea as a rival. Not to mention, it took two mons to take down Pikachu, Dragonite and Gengar’s typings royally screw her over, Lucario’s evolution and Farfetch’d’s future one might set them up to be equal or even stronger than her mons, and Dracovish has the potential to be an absolute tank.
Final Points
Overall, with what we’re given so far, Bea kind of sucks as a rival. We don’t have any motivation or depth, her team sucks, and there aren’t really many stakes. She’s pretty much the generic mean boss lady we will have to defeat by the end of the journey. I honestly get a lot more stakes from FF7′s Turks.
But is she the worst rival that Ash has ever gotten? Not by a long shot, especially since the likes of Nando and Cameron exist omg Cameron why do you exist? And like I said, since she’s only made two appearances, there’s still a lot of room for improvement, so many of my issues with her could change over time. I just wanted to get this off of my chest and hopefully provide some insight to my fellow fans on how Bea could become a better character in the anime.
Though, I kind of feel there could be some better directions with her. Even if we get more development, her team will suck by the end of the day, so why not make her a rival for Korrina? They’re both fighting type specialists who aim to be the strongest, plus you could pull off a super cool rivalry over which is stronger; Mega Evolution or Gigantamaxing, with Lucario and Machamp respectively. I honestly feel Hop would be a better rival for Ash due to similar personalities, goals, and diversity in teams. Assuming Hop exists in the anime verse, of course.
If you made it this far, thank you very much for reading my thoughts over Journeys’ Bea! Please feel free to follow for more anipoke content! (am i cool already)

Can you explain more about the OC Grandparents?
Sure! The OC grandparents listed are all parents of canon characters who don’t have names or extended appearances in the games or anime (this would include characters such as Johanna, Grace, Meyer, etc) In some cases my depiction of the grandparents might differ a bit from canon, such as Red and Leaf’s mother having red hair instead of brown, but in general, the game protags’ mothers fit in here!
I will continue to update the directory as I develop more characters but currently, the identities of the grandparents listed in that section are as follows:
Aiden Aoyama & Scarlett Yuukoku - Red & Leaf’s parents. Aiden was a Gym Trainer at the Viridian Gym, but goes missing and is presumed deceased 5 years before Red goes on his journey, while Scarlett, is the mother seen in the RBGY and FRLG games. (She also happens to be Blaine’s daughter and only child.)
Charlie & Flora Oak - Daisy, Gary & Green’s parents. Both were researchers and passed away 7 years before Gary’s journey and 9 years before Green’s journey.
Isabel Suzuki & Angelo Papavero - Lyra’s parents. Isabel is the mother seen in the HGSS games, while Angelo is a total OC who is a childhood friend and right hand to Giovanni. Isabel broke up with him when she found out that he was involved with a criminal organization and Lyra doesn’t know about him until after the events of HGSS.
Zack Teruya - Ethan’s father and a single dad. A mysterious foreigner who was taken in by the Daycare Couple when they found him and baby Ethan lost and in need of somewhere to stay. He and his son later take the couple’s surname and move to Newbark, though remain close with them, thus Ethan views the Daycare Couple as his grandparents even if they aren’t blood-related.
Violet Touma - Reggie & Paul’s mother. She was an archeologist like her husband but passed away in a freak accident while on-site when Paul was a baby. She also happened to be the older sister of Lila, Johanna’s old rival, who is Ursula’s mother, making Ursula the cousin of Reggie and Paul (something she and Paul both like to ignore.)
Diana Montfort - Hilda & Hilbert’s mother. Nothing much to say here, she’s pretty much just the canon BW mom. Of note is that she’s descended from nobility and inherited a manor house/château (most of which is now a museum) that she and her children live in a section of and which she helps maintain, rather than the regular house the BW protag lives in in canon.
Harper Montfort & Tia Nocita - Nate & Rosa’s parents. Harper is the twin brother of Diana and while he and Tia aren’t married, they are in a steady relationship. Harper travels a lot and isn’t home very often. He’s had a lot of jobs over the years, including as a Sinnoh Frontier Brain where he became good buddies with Palmer. (He also has some bad habits, especially in his youth, like gambling away the family inheritance, but settled down once his children were born.) Tia is the canon BW2 mom and like in canon, used to be a Pokémon Center nurse.
Robert Aubert - Serena’s father. He’s a very normal businessman of Kalosian birth who worked for Clay’s mining company in an office/managerial position. He’s not super familiar with the life of a pokémon trainer but supports his daughter wholeheartedly when she sets out on her journey. During XY, he was finishing up business in Unova before moving in with his wife and daughter in Kalos and was very confused and surprised to find out his daughter had helped save the region when he finally made it.
Zéphyrine Sycamore - Alain & Calem’s mother. The older sister of Professor Sycamore, she passed away when Alain was a child and Calem a toddler and her boyfriend couldn’t handle the loss and abandoned his children not long after, leading the boys to be raised by their grandparents and uncle.
Orion & Clarissa Kagami - Selene & Elio’s father and stepmother. Orion was a single father who married Clarissa, the canon SuMo mom, when his twins were about 5 or so. He passed away not long before the start of SuMo, and the family’s move to Alola was a way for them to get a fresh start after his mysterious death. (This backstory is still in development, but my idea was for Selene & Elio’s family situation to be similar to Gladion & Lillie’s, with a disappeared dad.)
Nichola & Auberon Ellington - Victor & Gloria’s parents. In what is now a running theme, Auberon went missing 5 or so years before the SwSh plot, though he actually is alive and is found/comes back after the plot so this one has a happy ending!! Nichola is the canon SwSh mum. Oh, and also Auberon is a fairy prince and one of the two heroes of legend, though his kids don’t find this out until the postgame when Victor meets his old friend “Uncle Bunny” Calyrex.

Scenario: A family asks the Freelance good guys to babysit their child for a day or two, and they are offering a large sum of money. Evan decides to either go to the mission alone, or send a single person to take care of that kid. How does each member do, and how chaotic would it be for them?
I think it would depend on what species the kid is, first and foremost. Are we talking about a 300 pound ogre child, or a 20 pound human child? For the sake of this scenario, let's keep it simple and say it's a human toddler. The FGG took care of Isaac when he was an older kid and did alright, but few if any of them have experience with very young children.
Evan: Makes an honest-to-God effort. He reads a "Parenting 101" book on the ride over, brings a bag full of extra clothes, snacks, diapers, and other things just to be extra prepared. Tries to teach the kid something practical while he's there. Uses the skills he learned in his book to de-escalate their tantrums. Realizes he's never changed a diaper in his life and has to wing it. Gets puked on because he played too roughly with the kid too soon after lunch. Rummages through the kitchen, consumes all the juice boxes and animal crackers, and blames ghosts when the parents ask about it. Overall does an 8/10 job.
Lukas: Lukas hates kids and would never take a job like this on his own volition. But Evan forced him to because no one else was available, so here he goes. Has not a fucking clue what he's doing, shows up totally unprepared. Is unwilling to change any diapers, so he just strips the kid down and lets them run around naked outside all day like an animal while he snoops through the family's stuff. Kid starts crying because they're hungry, Lukas solves the problem by sprinkling some dry cereal into a bowl on the floor. Kid is also sick because it started raining outside. The second the parents return, he dresses the kid in pajamas, puts them in their crib, and gets tf out of there. Kid is sick and dirty, there is poop all over the backyard, and someone has clearly been rummaging through the parents' bedroom. 2/10 job.
Glenvar: Glenvar likes kids, but he's not exactly responsible. He shows up late and slightly drunk. He and the kid play with toys for hours. Glenvar gets progressively drunker over time as he sips from his flask, is distracted by baby-toys and doesn't notice the kid causing trouble in another room. By the time he realizes, the kitchen is a disaster. He does a half-assed job cleaning, then the kid says they're hungry. Glenvar cooks a surprisingly kickass meal, but uses way too many spices for a child. The kid cries because they have an upset stomach. Glenvar deals with it by giving them booze, which puts them to sleep for the rest of the night. Changes their diaper while they're asleep, has zero issues because he's an alcoholic and wakes up with soiled pants half the time anyway, so he's used to it. Parents come home, the house is a mess but the kid seems alright. 4/10 job.
Alaine: Alaine also likes kids and is excited about the job. She prepares by bringing toys and plays with the kid for hours, until they start getting cranky and bratty. Instead of disciplining them like an adult, she gets bratty right back and the two get into a really juvenile fight. When the kid is hungry, Alaine just lets them have junk food whenever they want because vegetables are gross and boring. The kid doesn't want to take a bath, so she doesn't make them. Basically doesn't make them do anything they don't feel like doing. When the parents return, the house is messy, the kid is dirty but fed and happy, and doesn't want Alaine to leave. 5/10 job.
Jeimos: Has no idea what they're doing, but at least attempts to research child-rearing beforehand. Gets a little too hung up on the technical aspects and once the real kid is in front of them, everything they studied goes out the window. The kid is acting unpredictable unlike the rigid examples in their book, so they're completely lost for what to do. Tries to discipline them, but struggles to use an authoritative voice so the kid doesn't listen. The entire job is a struggle because the kid just walks all over Jeimos and runs amok as they please. By the time the parents get home, everything's clean and the kid seems fine, but at the cost of Jeimos' sanity. The elf is having a nervous breakdown and can't leave fast enough. 6/10 job.
Isaac: Doesn't prepare or do any research beforehand because pfff, it's just babysitting. How hard could it be? As soon as he arrives, the kid asks for food, so Isaac leaves them unattended while he cooks something. Finishes cooking and realizes the kid is just gone. Isaac spends all day on a wild adventure, searching the entire neighborhood for this little shit, only to find out they were hiding under their crib the whole time. Isaac keeps them on a leash from that point forward. Struggles his way through some diaper changes, makes a few messes, but makes an honest effort and does an acceptable 6/10 job.
Balthazaar: Is reluctant to take the job, but accepts anyway because $$$. Really paranoid about the kid getting hurt and ruining his contract, so he puts a helmet, kneepads, and water wings on them. Orders pizza and eats it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner because fuck a balanced diet. When it's time for a bath, just takes the kid outside and sprays them with the hose because "that's what my daddy did and I turned out fine!". Also does this whenever it's time for a diaper change because he can barely be bothered to wipe his own ass, much less someone else's. Decides he needs a nap in the middle of the day, so he duct tapes the kid to the wall to make sure they're safe and oversleeps for 3 hours. Kid is clean, fed, and alive, but sick from bad diet and being sprayed with the hose constantly. 3/10 job.
Linde: Read crunchy "alternative" parenting books to prepare for the job beforehand. Brings gluten-free snacks, cloth diapers, and holistic medicines with her. As soon as she arrives, decides the house is hideous and re-decorates everything without asking. Kid is crying because she threw away all their toy soldiers for "promoting violence" or all their fashion dolls for "promoting misogyny". Replaces their toys with carefully-curated "educational" toys and redecorates their room to be "gender-neutral". Picks through the pantry and replaces all junk food with whole and organic food. Parents come home and are shocked and vaguely upset by all the changes. Kid is unhappy but well cared-for. An misguided but honest effort was made. 5/10 job.
Skel: Figures this is easy money and takes the job. Locks the kid in their playpen the entire time. Interacts with them only telekinetically because he doesn't want their germs. Spends most of the time deep-cleaning the house because anything but "hospital-sterile" is too dirty by his standards. Parents get home, see that kid is physically fine but a little bummed because Skel wouldn't play with them. House is completely spotless. 7/10 job.
Javaan: Immediately hooks up with the MILF next door while her husband is at work. Kid spends the day playing with MILF's older kids while she and Javaan have Netflix and chill. Husband comes home and Javaan skedaddles with the kid just as their parents return. The kid seems happy and as far as they know, he did a good job. 7/10.
Elska: "DO NOT CRY. TEARS ARE FOR THE WEAK." "I WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO SLAUGHTER A PIG." "DRINK THIS BLOOD, IT WILL MAKE YOU STRONG." etc, etc...Parents come home and the house looks like a warzone, kid is traumatized, Elska is fired. She meant well, but scores a pitiful 1/10.
Mr. Ocean: Got lost on the way to the house, shows up four hours late and stoned as fuck. Takes the kid outside to play in the yard, gets distracted by a pinwheel in the garden for hours, and doesn't notice the kid wandering away down the street. The parents come home and find Mr. Ocean zonked out in the bathtub. They ask him where the hell their kid is and he's like "...what kid? Wait, why am I here again?" The police show up a few minutes later with the kid, who is dirty, hungry, sick, and scared. Mr. Ocean is not only fired, but facing child neglect charges. 0/10.
Zeffer: Discreetly murders one of the neighbors for looking at him funny, but otherwise does a perfect 10/10 job.

Safe as Houses || Constance & Remmy
TIMING: Current
LOCATION: Gallow’s End Estates
PARTIES: @whatsin-yourhead & @constancecunningham
SUMMARY: Shaken by her actions at the docks, Constance goes for a walk, but she isn’t alone. Remmy makes a proposition.
CONTAINS: Brief references to past abuse.
Remmy had a decision to make.
Life was still moving and they’d been standing still so long. It was time to decide if they were going to keep moving, or if they were going to stay still. Sure, they had forever, but that didn’t mean the people around them did. And forever wasn’t even guaranteed, was it? As long as slayers and hunters existed, nothing was guaranteed. Not that Remmy blamed them, but they had to accept the fact that even if they did nothing wrong, even if they presented no threat, did nothing bad, there would always be people like Alain who would cut them down anyway. Though he had agreed not to go after them until they hurt someone for real again, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t change his mind again. Or that someone else would come along who wasn’t willing to compromise. There were too many variables in forever, that was the one thing Remmy knew was true.
And so, it was with that in mind, that Remmy found themselves strolling through town, coming upon old places that they’d found comfort in in the past. Mooseventure, Al’s, the Commons...and lastly, the Bend. And the awful, dirty, shitty apartments they’d first lived in when moving here. And while the place had been just horrible, they’d met two of their very best friends while living here-- Blanche and Nora. And while Nora was off doing...who knew what, Blanche was still here. Still fighting. And Nora was around, she made sure maintenance came to the house to keep it in working order for the residents that did still live there, even if they were undead. They deserved a nice place, too.
It wasn’t until Remmy got closer to the building that they realized the person they’d seen standing out front wasn’t standing at all-- they were hovering, just above the ground, and Remmy could see straight through them. A ghost. Thoughts of Nadia flooded their head and Remmy hesitated a moment before they realized, again, that they recognized this ghost. She had been the ghost sitting next to Remmy on the bench in the park that day-- the day Morgan had died. This ghost was Constance. Remmy would never forget her face.
They walked up towards her nervously, but kept their demeanour calm. “You’re um...you’re Constance, right?”
Constance had fewer and fewer places left to her where she felt safe. Everywhere she explored, there Morgan was and there her rage blazed, weakening her grasp on her own soul, narrowing her vision to the size of a pinprick. And yet the sun rose and the sun set and she could not sleep. Perhaps, all this considered, returning to the outskirts where she had been born and the woods where she had played alone. Constance glimpsed the gray sunlight cut and scattered like flour through the many branches. She imagined that the sun remembered her, the trees remembered her, and the creatures she cared for and buried and the treasures she was so afraid to lose she buried them too and touched them not at all until they were useless--those must remember her too.
Drifting forwards, she explored further, searching for the way back home. Or what she had called and cursed as home. It had to be right around--
Oh.
Constance was no fool. This world had no love for brittle things like the excuse of a house she had been born in. No markers or ruins signified the life of her or anyone else she had crossed paths with. And yet, there were still ruins before her. Chipped and peeling print, exposed bricks of gray rock, falling shingles, a faint drip of a leak, somewhere. It almost brought a smile to Constance’s face, to know that this world, and this spot, was one still riddled with leeks. Inside people were cold, they cried, they hated, they starved. And most likely, no one would remember them any more than her. How to think of such a miserable life, now rendered into multiples like some catastrophic math riddle. Was it cursed ground? Was it her, or just the twisted bend of this world and the wickedness of the people who moved it?
She heard a voice call her name and turned. She knew the face, but its place didn’t come to her at once. “...Good day,” she said curiously. “You’re solid, real solid. I don’t have many of those that know my name. How are we--” And then it came to her. That day at the beach. Constance stiffened. “If this is another one of Morgan’s blessed stomping grounds, I can take my leave without being threatened,” she said. And she should leave, if this was true. She was so weak, and so angry. She wanted Moran’s death to be something precise, even elegant. She couldn’t manage that if even looking at the woman riled her to snapping light bulbs.
“What? No,” Remmy said, shaking their head. “It’s not-- it’s not. This is uh-- I used to live here.” They motioned to the apartment building down the way, as ragged and decrypt as the houses surrounding it. This had nothing to do with Morgan, and Remmy found it all the more quiet when they realized that, too. They turned to look back at Constance. “Why are you back? You know she-- she wants to hurt you, because of what you did, what you’re...doing.” They weren’t sure what to feel yet, only that they knew they could sense a deep sorrow coming from the specter, and the idea of one of her closest, best friends wanting to harm someone simply to harm them. That wasn’t the person they thought Morgan was, but it terrified them, deep down. And they weren’t sure if it was the thought of her hurting someone or the thought that Remmy hadn’t known her capable that scared them more. “It’s not safe here for you.”
Constance grew more confused. For people who were determined to align themselves with the Bachman family, Morgan’s friends demonstrated a strange amount of concern for her. “I never left,” she said carefully, waiting for the subterfuge to reveal itself. “I saw her bleeding on the street, and there was so much noise I thought even you wouldn’t hear how I screamed with relief. I was sure I had never done anything more perfectly. Did you know that there were only two other casualties? I regret them as sins and doubtless I will be punished eventually, but all those machines, all that glass and noise and screaming, and she was gone by her own doing with only two more people caught in the crossfire.” Constance’s voice softened, wistful. “And I thought, I want to stay to see the moon and the stars and a new sun, in a world with no more survivors of the Bachman line. And I saw it. And then I thought, alright, that must be enough now. Only I didn’t fade. And I think I’ve tried rather hard at it, but no one I ask can tell me the secret, because if they had it, they wouldn’t be here still. But here we are. I can only think that some part of me suspected the truth all along. I did nothing perfect. I only made her into more of a monster.” She went quiet, regarding the strange figure again. “I don’t care about being hurt. And I don’t care about what she wants to do. I want what I asked for.” What was so very hard to understand about that? “Why is this not safe? If you’re not going to beat me with iron or tell her where to find me, why wouldn’t I be safe? Why is it any concern to you in the first place?”
Remmy wasn’t good at this part. There was a struggle going on in their heart and it made them feel sick. Morgan was their best friend, they should be on her side for this-- but Constance was clearly suffering, too, and even if she’d been the one who’d put Morgan’s death into action, did she not deserve a chance at forgiveness as well? If Morgan got that chance, why not her? Simply because she was a ghost? And so young. Younger than Remmy. Younger than Nadia. Remmy wiped at their one exposed eye. “What’d they do to you?” they asked quietly, ignoring everything else for now. “The-- the Bachmans. What made you so...sad?” And they chose the word carefully, pausing for a long moment before saying it, because it was a very particular feeling they heard in her voice. It seemed like such an innocuous word, but Remmy could find no other to describe it. The sound was so familiar, so close to their heart. “It’s not safe because...when people want to hurt you, it doesn’t matter who you are or how you feel, they’ll do it. And it’s just-- it’s just another cycle of violence. Why does everyone wanna hurt each other so much? Why does anger have to be the emotion we respond to? Does anyone really think making someone else hurt fixes anything? Makes anything feel better?” They sniffled again. “It’s my concern because I don’t want to see you hurt. You or Morgan or anyone. I’ve had enough.”
Constance rolled her eyes and turned back to look at the building that had replaced her family’s house. She felt nothing as she drifted through the world, but she could feel the despair coming from this place. “Why do you care?” She huffed. “It was tragical, and foolish, and I lost everything. Even before I cast the spell, I had nothing left but myself. And handkerchiefs worth of objects I had on my person, but those were worthless, too.” A picture. A phony charm. Some cornbread. A flattened penny. The paper she’d used to make her plan with Agnes. A baby’s rattle would have been worth more in comparison. “My father said I was born melancholic. And cruel. He said a great many things, but perhaps he was right about the way I was born. It is difficult to come to an end such as this and feel as though you were not fated to pain from the start. And if you cannot understand a feeling such as mine, if you have never needed to see your pain paid back threefold, if you have never needed to feel a name and a line burnt out by time once and for all, I should think you wouldn’t want to taste it.” But the figure persisted, and Constance wondered if they knew Blanche Harlow as well. “Morgan is my only missing piece,” she said. “And my worst, for of course it should be this way,” she sighed, rolling her eyes. “It used to be that you couldn’t walk half a mile without running to a Bachman relative, or Bachman owned land, or a Bachman friend. And now I have one fiend of a woman so small, she’s practically the size of a child. I think I’ve accomplished a great deal. I’ve changed the world.  If that was your only wish, and you’d paid for it with your self, wouldn’t you risk paying again to see it done? To be finished, and have your wish come true?”
“I don’t know,” Remmy answered honestly, “I just do. I can’t help it.” And they couldn’t. And the more they thought about it, the more they realized they’d always felt this way. They’d always had a bleeding heart, hadn’t they? Even when they were a child, so angry and lost and scared, all they’d wanted was to help other people. Taking the fall for things that weren’t their fault; letting others use them if only to make themselves feel better; helping others even when they were struggling themself. Remmy had always felt the pain of the world around them and wanted to help-- it had just taken death for them to realize that. Swallowing, they looked square at Constance. “No, I wouldn’t,” they finally said, once Constance was done speaking, and was looking at them for some sort of validation. “But that’s just me.” They knew everyone, everything was different. “Doing that will just turn you cold, you know. I-- I understand how you feel. Maybe not entirely, but I do, on some level. I grew up with nothing. No mom, a deadbeat dad, poor as shit...and queer, to boot. People all told me I was never going to be good for anything. That all I did was bring others pain. I was trouble. I wasn’t worth it.” They swallowed, clearing their throat of the tears that threatened. “But they were wrong. Because...they don’t get to decide who I am and what I’m worth. I get to decide that. And-- it took me a long time to figure that out, but I did. And it’s true for you, too. What do you even gain by killing Morgan? By destroying a family line? Whatever pain they caused you-- it was so long ago. Morgan is so far away from whoever really hurt you, the pain you cause now just starts a new cycle of pain and violence and-- why would you want that? Don’t you want peace? Don’t you want...to be happy?”
The story the figure told was so familiar, Constance couldn’t bring herself to trust it. Perhaps someone had written about her, perhaps her death had meant more than one more miserable, nameless body in the woods. Which was more plausible? That some misguided record and put down the details of her cruel existence, or that this stranger, this person who had screamed and cried over what Constance had done would possibly understand her? “You don’t understand anything about me,” she said stubbornly. She drifted away from the building, away from this...person. “I don’t want to talk about this anymore. I’m trying to conserve my energy and be stable! A solid like you wouldn’t understand that either.” She wanted them to go and leave her be. A world that ignored Constance was painful but it was at least familiar. And perhaps if she stomped on her feelings enough she could find the words to explain how hopeless she truly was, and how little she had left beyond her wish. She bound herself to it that night, however many moons ago. Constance wasn’t sure if she would know how to let go until it was finished, even if she was mad enough to ever want to.
“Yeah, I do,” Remmy insisted, following after her. “Life treated you like shit-- you never got anything good and happy. And then when you finally did, it took it from you, right? It tore everything away, including yourself?” They went around her-- remembering how Nadia had said she didn’t like being ignored and walked through-- and stopped in front of her. She could easily phase through them, they supposed, but it was the act that mattered, right? “If you really think you’re the only one that’s ever suffered, you’ve got a big reality check coming, Constance. I died, too, you know,” they said, crossing their arms over their chest. “Alone and afraid and only after watching the rest of my world be destroyed. The only difference is that I woke up solid and you woke up transparent. That doesn’t make you any less of a person, or-or any less worth being given a chance. Maybe-- maybe you’re still here because this is your second chance to do better, to be better. To be...happy. And don’t-- don’t tell me what I do and don’t understand. I understand a lot more than you-- or anyone-- thinks.” And they were tired of everyone thinking they didn’t. They were tired of being pushed aside.
“If only I had truly been here this long,” Constance said bitterly. “If I had really been here this long, I might have finished my curse before your wretched friend was ever born. But when I bargained myself, I went…” Constance didn’t know the words for what had happened to her. There was nothing like it in any scripture she had ever read, Christian, Pagan, or otherwise. “It was like sleep, but it wasn’t. I didn’t know what was happening. I didn’t know that my house was trampled like it never mattered, or that there were huge petrol beasts coloring the air or that a girl can get made fun of for wearing a dress now, that was a stupendous treat to discover while I was visible. By the heavens, I wish I had really been here for so many years! I would know what to do with this nothing body better!” She was getting upset again. Lights behind her were flickering, screaming strange, buzzing, artificial screams. “I...woke up...in a circle. When she brought me here,” Constance said carefully, voice trembling. “To hurt me. I died and then I...was there, and I had lost even more than I knew how to reckon for. And I don’t think I’m the only one who’s ever suffered. I just think I’m willing to do something about it. I wasted my power when I was alive, mostly, but I won’t make that mistake again. I was a witch beyond measure, and even in death I can rebalance the scales. If there’s anything being in this wretched era has taught me, it’s that time bends long and slowly. Maybe you don’t see the point in what I’m doing or what I want, but maybe the stars and the trees will, maybe the lives that can grow without so much destruction or meddling. And I will know. I’ll know I didn’t just take it, or give up or ‘get over’ it.” She sighed, and realized what a fool’s gesture it was. “I don’t know if I am a person. I don't feel that way all the time, and however I try to be better, whatever I touch so far has turned to destruction and hut, and not even that which I intended. I think my soul is...strange, at best. But I do appreciate...whatever it is you are trying to do. There are not many kind people here. It is good to know they continue to exist, however few.”
“Morgan isn’t wretched,” Remmy said quietly, “and neither are you.” They were quiet for a long while, not flinching when Constance made the lights flicker and screech with electric hums. They looked over to the decaying apartments, then back to the spirit, and felt another tug at their heart. “She didn’t summon you to hurt you, you know,” they finally said. “She just wanted answers. To why her life was always falling apart, to why she wasn’t allowed happiness. You can...relate to that a little, can’t you?” They didn’t know what they were searching for in any answers from Constance, but they knew that she was trapped in a world that she wasn’t allowed to escape, suffering more pain. Remmy looked at her with eyes full of sorrow. “This world is-- scary, yeah. There’s a lot of not good things in it, but...there’s a lot of good, too, you know. You just haven’t...seen it yet. I could show you, if you want,” they wondered if she was even still listening, “if you’d give me the chance. Not everything here is destruction and meddling, like you said. And...certainly none of it is because of one person. Cursed or not.” They paused, biting their bottom lip, before continuing. “You are a person. Maybe different than the kind of person you remember being, but...you’re still a person. Just as much as me, or anyone else. And I think...I think maybe your soul is just a little lost. And I don’t think you deserve to be hurt just because of that.”
Constance couldn’t cry or rail at the stubbornness of this person, not without destroying yet even more of the world, and she did not want to rush to disappoint herself or Blanche even further. But it was all she could do to keep herself from it. She wanted to laugh, or fall over from the incredulity of it all, but feared the impact of that feeling as well. Could a shade such as she disrupt the world from delight? Had such a thing ever happened before? “What manner of creature are you?” She asked, shaking her head. “You know better than many what I am capable of. What I have done. ...What is it you really want from me?”
“I don’t...I don’t want anything from you, Constance,” Remmy said back, shaking their head again. “That’s not...I just want to help you. I know you’re probably alone and afraid...and I know how that feels. I don’t want anyone to have to feel that way.” They mumbled, hands digging into their pockets. Constance wasn’t safe, just drifting out among the general population. There were hunters and exorcists and mediums everywhere. She was already having such a hard time even keeping her spirit body together. It reminded Remmy of some of the ghosts they’d seen wandering the old haunted mansion. Slowly, an idea struck them. “Hey, you, um-- you said you’re having trouble staying stable, right? Figuring out this...spirit thing? What if I had a place for you to go? Where there’s other ghosts and it’s safe. No one can hurt you there. Would you come with me?”
The idea of such a place had never occurred to Constance. She couldn’t imagine it in her head, except as some euphemism for a ghost prison. They didn’t make human proof vessels, only salt and iron lines that tore her apart for trying to exist. But this...whoever they were, were so persistent. Surely if this was some jest or a trap, they would be worn out by now? Or would they? Constance had learned the hard way how persistent a lie could be. Perhaps this was how they proved their loyalty to Morgan, by luring her into a trap.
Constance hesitated for a long time. She should know better than to believe in...oh, so many things. But she said, “Tell me where it is and I will find it on my own. I can find out if it’s what you say it is or not. Who are these ghosts who trust you anyway?”
“Right, yeah,” Remmy said, nodding slowly once Constance finally spoke. “It’s um-- here,” they motioned for her to follow them around the building to where the horizon broke and on top of a small hill sat the mansion, off in the distance, beyond the cemetery. “It’s that house there. I, um-- used to live there, actually. When we moved in, there were already ghost residents so we just sorta...let ‘em stay. Didn’t seem fair to make them leave, you know? We had to establish ground rules and stuff, but we made it safe. For us and for them,” they explained. “We’re all just people. I think they...liked being seen. I would sit with them, even the ones that didn’t talk. It felt nice...to be needed by them.” They paused, went quiet, then looked over at Constance one last time. “Come whenever you want, no obligation. But...it’s safe there. I promise.” And even if it wasn’t yet, Remmy would make sure it was.

ANDY WARHOL PROVES EXISTENCE OF SPACE-TIME WORMHOLES
THE DAILY PIC: Why can’t anything ever be straightforward when it comes to Andy Warhol? A famous interview he gave turns out to exist in two quite different versions.
Not long ago, Jay Reeg, one of our great Warhol aficionados, sent me a scan of a Warhol interview printed in the December, 1977, French edition of Playboy. It looked just the same as the great, much-cited interview with Warhol in High Times from that same year—except where it didn’t.
For one thing, French Playboy states, very clearly, that the interview took place on September 9, 1977, and was conducted by Glenn O’Brien (now deceased) and a club-scene journalist named Alain Pacadis (also deceased); in it, Warhol talks about the day he’s just spent—in Paris. (His Diaries show him there on Sept. 9.) All well and good ... expect that the High Times interview was the cover story in its August issue—which would probably have hit newsstands in July—and Glenn O’Brien later claimed that the interview happened around June, in Warhol’s studio on Broadway, and he doesn’t even mention Pacadis or Paris.
As printed, the two interviews are so close that they must come from the same recording. But the French one has some great stuff that’s not in High Times, and even where there’s overlap the details of what Warhol says sometimes differ, usually in seemingly pointless ways: Talking about his planned Andymat diners, in “French” Warhol says they’ll feature frozen food (which was true) whereas in High Times he mentions plans for turkey.
Below are a few of the passages from Playboy that aren’t in High Times:
– WARHOL: I’m about to show a new series in Venice.... Just big drawings of penises, anuses, things like that.
----------
– PLAYBOY: Your last show consisted of a series of canvases showing hammers and sickles. Do you feel close to communist ideas?
—WARHOL: Not at all: I made some silkscreens based on esthetic ideas. We were in Rome where Paul Morrissey was shooting “Flesh for Frankenstein,” and wherever we went, the walls had huge hammers and sickles brushed onto them, in bright colors. I got the idea to make that the theme of an exhibition of silkscreens in black and red. They look like wall decorations...
–PLAYBOY: Has the Soviet Union contacted you to buy some of your canvases?
– WARHOL: No, none of the Eastern countries have made advances. Those canvases have only sold to private collectors. But I love socialist realism: Those portraits of Lenin going up to the podium or of revolutionary scenes. They’re at the root of American hyper-realism.
----------
– WARHOL: I want my canvases to shock their buyers. People who buy my latest silkscreens of erect penises won’t necessarily be sex maniacs.
----------
– PLAYBOY: Are there a lot of punk clubs in New York?
– WARHOL: Yes, but they’re not dance clubs, they’re just places where people hang out. People sit around at tables and drink beer or spirits while the musicians are up on stage. In London or Paris, it’s different: Young people dance to the music.... In New York, people aren’t like that. In lots of places, there’s no liquor license: You can’t drink alcohol, and it makes them cool.... [The punks] play much better that before. I love the Talking Heads, for example. But punk has always existed: Callas was terrifically punk. At the Factory, my ’60s studio, we were always listening to her.
----------
– PLAYBOY: What’s the strangest thing that you’ve been asked to sign?
– WARHOL: A newborn baby, in New York. I wrote “Andy Warhol” on it so that it would become a work of art. Another time, I was asked to sign a transvestite’s breasts. But mostly, people make me sign fake Warhols; I like that.
----------
– PLAYBOY: What do you think of sex?
– WARHOL: It’s one of the most important things. People always ask me which I like better, sex with a boy or a girl. Actually, I prefer to jerk off. I’m the only person who knows exactly how to make me come best, so why ask someone else to do better?
----------
– WARHOL: One thing’s for sure: Most of the people who make things happen in New York are gay. I don’t see why we should hide that.... S&M has started to catch on. In New York, a new leather bar opens every week. You have to live in your times: People change; customs change.
