This is a metal snail (Volcano Snail) that lives on underwater volcano vents in the Indian Ocean. Its shell and scaly feet both are armoured with layers of iron, making it the only animal to incorporate iron sulfide into its skeleton 🐌
Had this couple checking in with their daughter today, Kid was 3 or 4 years old tops.
I was blessed with an excess of Easter chocolate from my family so I gave her a little bag of it since I don't need the empty calories anyways. A couple hours later the kid comes back down with her dad, and gave me this
I don't know what the stickers are from or what message she might have been trying to convey. But the thought is appreciated regardless 🥹
A great day to find out your girlfriend is cheating on you is indeed Valentines day when you've already bought her flowers and an ungodly amount of crab rangoons to be delivered in 8hrs...
I feel like I should just start lore dropping about things that have happened in my life that are bizzar since one of my friends is convinced I am a main character in some kinda story
Just found my first ever snail, Gary, dead in the enclosure.
It’s been such a tough past couple weeks with the loss of my cat and dog, as well as the loss of two other of my snails at the start of October. I’ve had so much going on that I’ve yet to hold a funeral for those two. As fate would have it, Gary passed exactly one month after Turtle and Sandy did. Gary has been with me for a year and a half, since April 2022, and has made such a profound impact on me.
I’m even hesitant to bury him due to the beauty of his shell. It always made it incredibly easy to spot him among the others, with most of it being that of a classic garden snail, but a portion near his opening being a light grey splotch of shell, almost as if he was injured and decided to patch up his shell in a different font.
Two short months ago I lost my second and third snails, Shelly and Gromley. It brings me such peace to know that Gary is once again in the company of his friends. I will miss him dearly, but my mom, our pets, and most importantly my snails, have taught me the true fragility and fleeting nature of this thing we call life.
To anyone who might be reading this: if you love someone, be they a human or an animal, tell them. If you can’t tell them, show them. And if you can’t show them, tell the wind. I walk home and I tell the wind tales of my cat and of my dogs and of my snails. I tell the bear shaped mailbox down the road of those who I’m unable to converse with, and it’s as if they hear me, or at least I am putting out my side of the story. Tell the wind. Tell the barking dogs. Tell the mailbox. Tell something if you cannot tell or show the person or animal you love that you love them. That’s all you have to do. If not for them, but for yourself.
Snails need moisture to survive; so if the weather is not cooperating, they can actually sleep up to three years. It has been reported that depending on geography, snails can shift into hibernation (which occurs in the winter), or estivation (also known as 'summer sleep'), helping to escape warm climates 🐌
The thriving kelp forest is a bustling hub of animal activity and a dynamic canvas of marine life. Let's celebrate and protect this underwater haven together—every creature, from the tiniest snail to the majestic kelp, plays a crucial role in our ocean's ecosystem! 🐠💙
Dear UrbEx folks, please stop exploring homeless peoples houses. Do not post the locations of homeless peoples houses. IDK what y'all are on but if there's recently used living materials it's not "creepy", that's somebody's house.
