What are your thoughts of the rest of the family ? Like grandpa, Sissy, Johnny (both from the game) or other members from the movies ? I would like to hear about it :3
Ooh I'm a fan of the game- I'm a hitchhiker main of course.
Johnny's a bit of somethin' somethin' I think we can all agree.
Sissy's so sweet but I bet she snaps sometimes
Grandpa is used as the communal therapist.

i think johnny and sissy are the most fascinating characters lore wise when it comes to tcm. like given everything we know now with their specific interactions with the family plus their backstories, they’re basically the outcasts to the sawyers. the deep dysfunction of the family is what both drives them away and also solidifies why they always return home.
while it’s known that sissy left home for a bit and traveled with cults, i feel it’s right to assume that johnny’s also ran away a couple of times himself. deep down, i believe he knows he’s not connected to this family by blood and it’s fucked his mind over more as he got older.
his non-blood relation is one of those things that everyone in the family knows about, but it’s one of those things that’s never brought up just because.
but since the sawyers are all he’s known and he himself has been a sawyer his whole life, there’s probably the traditional obligation he feels he has to pertain to — where he must contribute and provide as a male figure to support his “family.” he enjoys what he does as a killer and a hunter.
it’s definitely the same with sissy and probably the main reason she came back. sissy’s actor, kristina klebe, has said so herself that a part of sissy “wants love.” but given the way her family lives and how she’s also grown accustomed to that lifestyle, there’s a part of sissy that has unfortunately accepted she can never escape her roots and who she really is.
in a way, sissy reminds me of pearl (played by mia goth) — both female figures who aspired to be something more with their lives, only to realize they can never be. they have to make the best out of what they already have.
(another thing, how exactly did she get away from the cults she was traveling with?)
of course, this does not condone any of their crimes and the actions that come with it. but i find this pair of siblings to be two sides of the same coin. they’re both young, attractive, and have the same unfortunate dilemma of having to cater to a life they probably wish was something else, maybe something better. they’re full of energy for a life they just can’t have.
in the end, they’re doomed and are too far gone in their sick, twisted ways.
