Because I'm sure I saw you mention it recently, pros and cons of Jiang Cheng/Jin Guangyao?
I have mentioned this recently! it’s...the third/point five of my Jiang Cheng pairings that it turns out I do have because I guess I’m a liar after all.
Cons:
As I mentioned in an earlier ask, I do have a hard time with putting Jin Guangyao in a sexual or romantic relationship to anyone else while he is married, because I think that’s something he’s a little touchy about. And I do feel like Jiang Cheng during the time period when they’re co-parenting isn’t exactly looking for love (the opposite, really).
And there’s also...so much potential for Jiang Cheng to very easily rub Jin Guangyao all kinds of the wrong ways. At the very least I think he does sometimes, even though in canon it seems like they’re relatively friendly with each other. But like. Jin Guangyao is sensitive and Jiang Cheng is...not tactful or very considerate of other peoples’ feelings before talking sometimes. So that’s potentially an issue.
Pros:
But coparenting.
Mostly these two are...I want their relationship not because I actually think they should, like, be together or whatever, but because I feel like what we see of them in canon indicates a certain level of comfort with each other that Jiang Cheng in particular doesn’t really have with anyone else. The exchange over Jin Ling at Jinlintai feels so very...parental to me, from both of them.
As far as Jiang Cheng is concerned I think “cares about and will look after Jin Ling” is head and shoulders the most important factor when it comes to his relationship with Jin Guangyao, and he is genuinely willing to overlook a few murders here and there for the sake of what’s good for Jin Ling. Jiang Cheng’s moral compass sometimes just points toward “what is good for the people I care about and will keep them safe” and stops there. (Not always! But he does make significant allowances for those people, and Jin Guangyao might well enter that category by proxy via his being a Jin Ling adjunct.)
There’s just...a lot of potential there, I think, for an alliance that develops between them over the years (that Jin Guangyao cultivates to keep Jiang Cheng in his corner, which is easier because Jiang Cheng doesn’t, I think, particularly like Jin Guangshan), and they start getting just...more comfortable with each other. Like, never super relaxed or anything, but the kind of comfortable where Jiang Cheng will say something casually bitchy about someone else around Jin Guangyao and Jin Guangyao will be like.
“unexpected but also you aren’t actually wrong, Jiang-zongzhu”
idk I feel like there’s a lot of potential for like. wine aunt lunches with these two. and I want them to have them.
I definitely find it interesting that Jiang Cheng does not seem to be among the people who are very quick to jump all over Jin Guangyao Is Evil when Bi Cao and Sisi show up with their stories.

For some reason these tags have me picturing Jiang Cheng with one of those live-laugh-love signs but it's like
Live (with Wei Wuxian)
Laugh (with Wei Wuxian)
Love (with Wei Wuxian)
WWX bought the sign, hung it up, and then plastered it with masking tape that he wrote the (with Wei Wuxian) on. JC hates it entirely but it also is so fucking funny to see LWJ glare at it any time they host a friend night that he doesn't take it down.

@veliseraptor @sirjohnsmythe here is the link to the fic I found that is a no-golden-core-transfer AU where the central question for depressed-AF Jiang Cheng is “are we sure that death isn’t preferable to someone marrying me as a favor to my brother, the person they actually love and want”

Favorite moment
Can I pick the entire episode King of the Delta Blues? But especially the end where Connor sees “Lando Calrissian” as the producer and says “that’s my yeah!” It was such a pleasant, unfraught way of seeing how they’d changed the past.

Rating out of 10
I have no idea how to rate it because at its height I loved it deeply and would have given it an 8 or 9. But the Abomination happened, and now I’m salty enough that I can’t be trusted to give it more than a 4. Let’s split the difference and say 6.

Steve/Peggy + Modern AU?
They much prefer Netflix to going to the movies because they tend to keep up a running commentary whenever they watch anything, and plus blankets and snacks they don’t have to pay a fortune for (and if they want to start making out in the middle of the movie, they’re a lot closer to their bed)
Peggy doesn’t really use social media that much, but is forced to get a Twitter account because Steve goes on regular Twitter rants and she keeps getting asked about them
Steve is super concerned about making sure they’re being environmentally friendly and doing their part, which Peggy completely supports but at the same time gets frustrated by because sometimes it’s just easier to take the damn car, Steven - but they make up by compromising and trying to “conserve water” by showering together that night
Steve does most of the cooking - he learned when he was a teenager, because his mom was often on night shifts or just exhausted, and he’s gotten really good at it over the years. Peggy, on the other hand, isn’t a terrible cook but tends to burn things more often than not.
Their schedules keep them both busy, so they’ll often leave each other little love notes around the house if they don’t see each other
send me an AU and I’ll give you 5 headcanons for it

Unpopular opinion: I don't understand why Jiang Cheng/Lan Xichen is such a popular ship (aside from pairing the spares)
strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree
never have understood and still don’t! I’ve seen some people talk about it as like...healing for them both post-canon as two traumatized people, but...I do not see that working out.
I think that all of Jiang Cheng’s coping mechanisms (confrontational, defensive anger, refusing to admit to his feelings) would clash painfully hard with Lan Xichen’s (inclined toward compromise, peacemaker, very much in need of direct communication particularly after everything with Jin Guangyao) in a way that would end up destructive for them both. And I say this as someone who loves them both dearly and wants them to have nice things! I just don’t think that getting into a relationship with each other would be one of those nice things.
Now, if we were talking about it as a patent disaster trainwreck of an attempt to compensate for their messy emotions post-canon, then I might be on board, but actually even then I don’t think I want it, because honestly they’ve got enough messy trainwreck relationships to contend with at that point and I feel like I want to have a little mercy on them both.
give them some time to come to terms with their feelings of betrayal and grief! and particularly given the fraught relationships involved (between Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng, Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian, and, to a certain extent, I think Lan Xichen and Wei Wuxian), there’s a lot of potential for it to get very, very messy in a way that would not be fun for anyone, which is not the way I typically see it written about.
which is fine, I do not need to understand all ships out there, but it’s very much not for me and sometimes when ships that baffle me get very popular I just stare at them in vaguely irritated confusion going “what? that one?” because I am, at heart, a curmudgeon.

MASH?
@girlfriendsofthegalaxy requested the same one! :D Slight disclaimer: I’m about halfway through season 5 at the moment.
Series Meme
Favorite character: Dr. Benjamin Franklin “Hawkeye” Pierce.
Second favorite character: Hmm...probably B.J., Margaret, or Radar
Least favorite character: Frank “Ferret Face” “Eats Worms” Burns (but in a fun-to-hate way bc Larry Linville was a delight).  Colonel Flagg is also pretty unlikable.
The character I’m most like: B.J., I think, or maybe Father Mulcahy.
Favorite pairing: I’m a big fan of Hawkeye/Trapper, but Hawk/B.J. is also pretty great.
Least favorite pairing: Thus far, Margaret/Frank, though again they’re very fun to hate as a pair.  Margaret may be too much of a bootlicker for anyone’s good sometimes but even early seasons Margaret deserved better than Frank.
Favorite moment: Fave serious moments: the post-op scene in “Sometimes You Hear The Bullet”, Hawkeye singing “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” in “Dr. Pierce and Mr. Hyde”, and the entirety of “The Interview”. Fave funny moments: the entirety of “Five O’Clock Charlie” and “Private Charles Lamb”, Trapper singing “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” in the O.R., and “Sex! sex! sex!” “The boys are maaaarrrchiiiiiing”
Rating out of 10: Depends on the season, but overall, I’d say 7/10!  Some parts haven’t aged as well (which is to be expected), but overall it’s still remarkably funny and the raw humanity at the center of it all remains intact.  A true classic that deserves to be rediscovered, sans laugh track.
