So I don’t know how many of you were here/remember my horrible family, especially my cousin. But she has once again contacted me out of the blue with extremely suspicious punctuation and emojis.

(This is after last year, where she wanted to charge me $500 to stay with family for 4 nights. In Texas in the middle of summer. Naturally I wasn’t told this until a couple days before the trip.)

She also contacted me in…December? She called and essentially interrogated me about my theoretical love life while having me on speakerphone. When I told her (maybe a little snidely) that I was staying in my city over the holidays to work so I could afford rent, but that I was getting a raise in the new year, she told me money shouldn’t be the only thing I care about. ((:

A few months ago I saw that she and the cousins in my age group went on what they called “cousins trip” to Mexico. I wasn’t invited or informed about it until I saw it on Instagram.

That, combined with like 4 people in my family coming to my city and not even trying for a hello or lunch, and some rude things other people on that side of the family have said, led to me doing a soft cut of ties with them. This simply means that I stopped trying to comment or like stuff or initiate texts (which were infrequent anyway, I’m not the best at reaching out to all but a few people). And they didn’t reach out either, so I kind of went, “ok, T.S. Eliot, you were right, it does end with a whimper.” I just figured that after my aging aunts and uncles pass on, I just wouldn’t maintain contact with them.

But she has the audacity to come in and text like that on a random Wednesday evening when I’m happily watching my show and playing my video game, eating cotton candy grapes. Ugh.

I've never worked in TV production and my favourite thing about recent episodes of of Game Changer is how much of fucking with the players just relies on random production people telling them to do something and them not questioning it. Like for this to work, so much of their normal job is random people giving them instructions and them going "this might as well happen". You're giving our phones back for this two minute camera reset and then taking them again, and we have to do the whole intro of the episode again from scratch? Sure. You want me to promo this board game right in the middle of me doing this game show? Annoying, but sounds legit. A PA said something so it must be normal.
