This is a big mod, and I know I haven't added a massive amount so far, but when I'm back from my mini holiday on Wednesday night, I will be working hard on Version 2, and will be adding so much more. I just wanted to get this little version out now, so you guys had something to play with in the mean time.

Halloween 2003 at Maxis: The Social Bunny

At the Maxis 2003 Halloween Costume Contest, we were visited by the Social Bunny. In the new version of The Sims, the Social Bunny appears only to those who are in need of extra social, so it's not such a good sign that we could all see it.

The social bunny hops into the middle of the crowd to begin a few impromptu socials as (L to R) Kelly Riley, Marion Gothier, Kevin Byall, and Emmy Toyonaga watch.

Poor social bunny! Someone has rejected the bunny's social attempts, and now he walks away sad. Who wouldn't want a hug from a soft, fuzzy, ratty, stained, one-eyed bunny? Kevin Byall and Charles London watch this sad sight.

Whew! After a hard day of spreading sociality everywhere, the bunny waves goodbye.

At right, the bunny takes a well-deserved rest. The bunny learned to respect the entertainers who populate our nations' amusement parks... those heads are hot!

But you can't keep a bunny down for long! Later that night, the bunny popped back up at Patti Wilson's Halloween Party. Patti's friend Naomi looks on as the bunny sees more people in need of social. It's unclear how the bunny's eye returned for this picture, when in fact it was sewn shut until after the evening was over.

Pay attention to the first 2 photos. They have a printed screenshot on the wall that shows a hot tub. But the UI in this screenshot is not from E3 2003, but from earlier builds with Purple UI:

1. I spent weeks coding to implement a “random post” that didn’t require an event and age specific posts. It took me ages to figure out. This is not in the EA version. I added these features.

2. My mod is still in early access. MuvaSimmer re-uploaded my mod, keeping all of the tuning I added, the IDs I created, features I added, and *only* changed the text in the string file. It is literally my mod, with the words changed. My TOU is no changes to mods, and no re-uploads. As much as I appreciate the posts she made, she really should have waited to hear back from me and see if I would give permission. Having said that, I don’t hold anything against her because she removed the link when I asked her to. However, hundreds of people now have the bulk of my mod that I didn’t give access to be shared, while mine is still in early access.

3. I didn’t even know what “urban mod” meant, in England urbanisation is people move from countryside to cities, and cities grow.

4. I didn’t know the race of muvasimmer. I’d never heard of her before.

5. I’m more than happy, as I’ve told muvasimmer, for her to go to my public google docs, write her ideas down, and ensuring she follows my guidelines, I will add the ideas to the following versions of my mods. Alternatively, I’m more than happy, of course, for her to make her own social bunny mod that does not use mine.

I have received so many messages like this in the past 24 hours and it genuinely blows my mind that people in the sims community can be like this. I didn’t know MuvaSimmers race until people started calling me racist. It is not okay for people to re-upload the mod I created, after only changing the string file. I understand she gave me credit, but it’s just not something I’m comfortable with, and I’ve never been comfortable with it. That’s what my TOU has always been. This is not a new thing.

I saw this piece of trivia on the Sims wiki over 10 years ago and it always baffled me why they decided on this reference, but having finally seen Donnie Darko the other day, it actually makes a weird sort of sense it'd be in the game. Something about fate, being controlled. If God controls time, then all time is pre-decided. Every living thing follows along a set path. You know.
