I low key kind of bugs me when people say the sims movie can't be about sims lore because "the average person doesn't know about that and it needs to appeal to as many people as possible"

As if there's no way to write it where you could get someone who knows nothing about it to get into it. I don't expect them to write a story where you already have to know everything about it, of course that wouldn't make sense. But I don't see why it's so crazy to think that they could write a story including the goths or the landgraabs or anyone we know and get the average joe think it sounds interesting.

I really don't want "oh wow I'm a sim!" existential crisis movie. It worked for Barbie, but that doesn't mean we have to completely rehash it again when there are so many options for more interesting stuff.

So they are gonna make a movie like Barbie but for Sims and I'm so here for it

please embrace all the beautiful weirdness this game has to offer and don't speak actual language

Sims movie should actually be made by those people who made Greener Grass (2019) because the surreal/absurdist, slightly offputting/unsettling but also just comical and almost mundane horror of its uncanny reality a little to the left saturated Wes Anderson-esque isolated suburban world I think would perfectly capture just the right vibes, and you'd just have to watch it to understand what I mean, but like, sincerely, vibes, vibes, vibes.

What the hell is the Sims movie gonna be about? Is it gonna be about existentialism or something? I mean, I hope they don't allow the themes to carry the narrative and characters and cause another endless heated internet debate.

imagine the sims movie with storylines from the sims 2 (the only version of the game that had a soul) like the goth family, bella's abduction by aliens, don lothario with those two chicks. there were others too that game makes me so emotional sometimes just thinking about those days

I guess it depends on what they plan to do with the movie. Storywise, there's 2 ways it could possibly go (at least in my head):

They either make it like the Barbie movie where a sim wants to go to the real world and fight the simmer who's playing them because their life is a mess. Which, in my opinion, doesn't sound really appealing.

Or they make it like Jumanji where a simmer gets locked into the game. Now if they do that, I want the film to follow the sims 2 timeline so that the simmer can investigate Bella Goth's disappearance and solve the mystery. And only when the mystery is resolved can they go back into the real world. Actually, it'd be even funnier if the person going inside the game has never played it and doesn't know how it works.

Honestly I just hope the movie is not gonna take itself too seriously, I just want it to be camp and a chaotic fun ride.

One of my predictions for the sim movie is that Dina Caliente will be played by a white woman, if she appears. I'm hoping I'm wrong

Also if they include PSP stuff they better not slander Vidcund or Circe for what Newlow made them do, we do not need more misinformation about that

Went to check and yup. Oof. They‘re really trying to make videogame movies into the new superhero movies aren‘t they.

…then again, apparently Margot Robbie‘s producing it, so I am…very cautiously optimistic it‘ll go a similar route as Barbie, with the setting inside the media being the basis for commentary on real life by way of reflection.

Honestly could see it being like, idk, what it says about people simulating life in a game with a house and family, meeting your sims needs while it gets more and more hard for most poeple to ever come close to anything remotely fulfilling. Or going into the horror of playing god and making your sims suffer in horrible ways for your own entertainment. Maybe smth about society‘s hard coding to only accept people living in nuclear families? Idk.

Or stay behind the 4th wall and go with whatever the heck is going on with Sims lore, though kinda doubt its gonna go that route since the corpos definitely seem to want this be the next Barbie. Might turn into just that; a barebones carbon copy of the Barbie movie but with Sims.

Ngl more optimistic towards this than the Zelda movie lmao
