not to toot our own horn but flower girls are kind of the coolest! get to know monty... one of our very talented and fabulous designers: 1. tell us a little bit about yourself… i'm just a gal trying to shine her light inside, on her world, and outside, on our world. 2. how did you find flower girl and what attracted you to us? i was working very part time for @simplyperfectevents and asked my boss if she thought her florist (you gals) would need additional hands around the shop--turns out you all did. here i am. before i knew you, i was attracted to the whimsical textures of the bouquets that you create--there is such a natural rhythm to each arrangement, making them feel unattainable from a skills standpoint, yet completely effortless in their presentation. now that i know you, i'm still attracted to that. and also, the giant hearts and brilliant, generous souls of everyone who works here. 3.where did you grow up, and what was the most positive aspect of growing up there? i'm from a tiny town in ohio where strangers will stop and chat with you while you're walking down the street--probably the most positive aspect of growing up there. it has a completely different energy to that of new york, where we are all moving way too fast and are surrounded by way too many people to have hello's with every person we speedwalk past. 4. what inspires you? 2 hours ago? conversations with people i love. a minute ago? a pint of ice cream. now? the musical genius of george gershwin. tomorrow? i'll tell you when i get there. 5. what is your favorite part of the flower world? you know when you are in a moment that contains so much beauty that you have to stop. close your eyes. take 3-5 deep breaths. hold back some tears. say thank you. smile. before you can even stand to keep on living? that. at least once, every single day that i'm a part of it. 6. what is your spirit animal? i spent some time on a navajo reservation this summer and they told stories about the coyote and how he was always full of jokes and trickery; trying to impart wisdom through play. i'd like to let mr. coyote guide me through this life. 7. where do you see yourself in 5 years? in a majestic part of the world. surrounded by people i love. growing flowers in my garden. making arrangements with those flowers to give to those people. writing. drawing. creating. laughing. living to the fullest/purest. 8. what one word would you use to describe yourself? can i use the one word that my dad has used to describe me? great, thanks. :) magnetic. 9. what do you do for fun? laugh. dance. flower. paint. draw. calligraphise. chalk. write. meditate. you can see some examples of fun having here: @dear__love__xo 10. do you have a morning or evening ritual or routine that is​ ​specific to getting you ready and feeling your best either to start or end your day? the ritual that i know makes me feel my best (though doesn't happen nearly as it could) is: wake up, meditate, journal, say thank you, smoothie, yoga, sunshine/laugh 11. what is your favorite food to eat and or prepare/share? i've been finding the most joy while eating mango--though i keep hearing that our mango "doesn't even compare to other parts of the world". i think my mouth/heart/brain will explode when i get to try the "really good stuff" mango 12. what is your best travel experience and why? snuggled up in a sleeping bag next to a dear friend, watching the sunrise over the grand canyon. she leaned closer and said, "and to think, it all started with a drop of water." i will never ever forget that moment. that one simple sentence, spoken next to the sheer magnitude of that one giant hole--she reminded me that anything, even 1,900 square miles of erosion over millions of years, is possible with a bit of persistence. 13. top 3 places on your travel bucket list? 1. cuba before it gets too touristy. 2. cambodia to eat mango on the beach/have my mouth/heart/brain explode. 3. iceland to see outer-space on earth. 14. if you could meet one person that you haven't famous, non famous, living or dead who would it be? abe lincoln, my man!
