Excited to help promote the launch of Silvia Moreno-Garcia's new book 'SILVER NITRATE' from Del Rey Publishing! Available on July 18. I created a faux poster for the movie 'Beyond the Yellow Door,' which is a key component in the novel. A fantastic read. Highly recommended.
For more information on Silvia's works and where to order 'Silver Nitrate' visit: https://silviamoreno-garcia.com an amazing Canadian author. If you have not got into her stuff yet, now is the time to do so.

In Silver Nitrate, Silvia Moreno-Garcia was like "does anyone wanna see two bisexual disasters fight off magical Nazis" and then didn't wait for an answer

Discovering something about myself as I listen to reviews/reactions to My Heart is a Chainsaw and Silver Nitrate: your get-out-of-jail-free card for a narrative infodumping for me is have the information relayed to me by a character who is super enthusiastic about it and interested in it! Apparently this doesn't work for everyone, but personally, as long as your character absolutely loves what they're talking about, go hog wild with that exposition. It will not slow anything down for me, or bore me in any way.

“I feel so alone sometimes, you have no idea. And the loneliness seems to seep into my bones and I get scared because I feel numb. Not depressed or upset: I’m a blank tape. Like someone dragged a magnet against the tape inside my brain and erased all the information. There’s nothing left to feel. I felt it all and I’ll never feel anything new again and I’ll always be alone.”

When they watched horror movies, it was the sight of the monster, the Other, that terrified Tristán and the idea of becoming the hero that seduced him. Montserrat saw herself in the faces of monsters and did not wince.

I’m currently reading Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno Garcia & I forgot just how much I love her writing. It’s not overly prosaic, but it’s seductive & atmospheric and almost nostalgic in a way.

"You're an idiot," she answered archly.
Tristán's grin had been wiped off his face. They gazed at each other gravely. "Why?" she asked.
"You'd save on the rent. We probably shouldn't inflict ourselves on other people." When she didn't laugh, he sighed. "Well, I don't know..."

“In the early days of animation, film was so flammable they’d use it to start fires whenever the animators threatened to unionize.”

imagine creating the most insane bi4bi platonic codependent pair of assholes to ever exist and they snipe at each other constantly and are perfect mirrors of each others' flaws and strengths and could never live without the other person. and then you make them kiss. to be clear i absolutely mean this in a negative way.
