Shoji Gatoh's Full Metal Panic! light novel series will launch a new story as it approaches its 25th anniversary this year. The new story is set in the present day about two decades after the climax of the main story, which concluded with a volume published in 2010. The sequel follows the daily family life of the main leads Sōsuke and Chidori, now all grown-up.
The July 2023 issue of Kadokawa's Dragon Magazine published the opening excerpt of the new story, and the September 2023 issue will publish the full first chapter on July 20, 2023.
Gatoh posted on his blog that the new sequel story will have some comedy, but will not be as slapstick as another followup story, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu. It will be a collection of short stories for light reading. He plans for "various characters" to appear after the first chapter. He half-seriously mused that the sequel could end in just one volume, keep going for around three volumes, or "depending on how things go, become an epic saga lasting over 20 volumes."
In January, Gatoh posted on Twitter a survey, asking if fans want to see Sōsuke when he is around 40. After about 75% of respondents said they did, Gatoh gave the sequel a shot. Before, he had personal reservations on depicting Sōsuke and Kaname after the main story's finale. However, when he heard the 25th anniversary was coming up, that strange hangup went away.
Gatoh added that he is also developing a completely new work unrelated to his previous projects.

Anime Review: Hyouka
Hyouka is a Japanese anime series, which was produced by Kyoto Animation, an animation studio and light novel publisher noted for producing The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, A Silent Voice and Violet Evergarden. It was directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto (noted as the director of various anime including Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, The SoulTaker and Violet Evergarden) with overall series composition by Shoji Gatoh (noted for his work on Full Metal Panic, Amagi Brilliant Park and Cop Craft) and character design by Futoshi Nishiya (noted for his work on Inuyasha, Full Metal Panic, Haruhi Suzumiya, Amagi Brilliant Park and Sound! Euphonium).
Before we move on, I would like to note that sadly, Yasuhiro Takemoto and Futoshi Nishiya, both passed away in an arson attack on the Kyoto Animation building on July 18th 2019. Their contributions to anime and manga will not be forgotten.

Cop Craft is an action anime series that first aired in the summer of 2019. Based on the light novel series by Shoji Gatoh, which has been airing since 2009, the anime is licensed by Funimation. In this way, viewers not only in Japan but also around the world are researching for a second season. The anime was animated by Millepensee and directed by Shin Itagaki. We also know the studio with ‘So I’m a Spider, So What?‘ series, one of the popular anime of 2021. The first season of Cop Craft aired from July 8, 2019, to September 30, 2019, in 12 episodes. In the meantime, a second season did not come to the screens, but is it possible in the coming period?1 What was the plotline of the anime?2 Will there be a second season of Cop Craft?2.1 Light Novel status in terms of a second season2.2 Popularity and the other factors to see a second seasonWhat was the plotline of the anime? An unknown passage that appeared over the Pacific Ocean 15 years ago allowed various creatures to enter our world. Behind this gate, there is a city called Reto Semaani. Here, fairies and demons live together. San Teresa on Carina Island is now the gateway to the world, and the city is home to millions of “foreigners” from Reto Semaani. A diplomatic bond has also been established with this land. It has become a city of the world, where the rich and the poor live together. Of course, various problems came with these developments. There are many crimes and criminals in this city, which is in the middle of chaos. Drug swamp, sex work, and gun smuggling are integrated with the city where bad people are everywhere in the streets. Due to the increase in crime rate, a special police unit was created to ensure security between the human and foreign populations of the city: the San Teresa City Police Department. They swore to fight these crimes. At this point in the story, two characters unite for one purpose: Matoba Kei and Tirina Exedirika. One day, after a drug operation was unsuccessful, Sergeant Matoba Kei was given a partner from the other world. The only thing they have in common with his new partner is the fairy, who needs to be captured. When the sergeant finds the suspects, he will capture his partner’s murderer, and his new partner, Tilarna Exedilica, will capture the fairy to take it back. The detectives of these two different worlds have two different personalities. But their sole aim is to catch criminals, purify the city from crime, ensure justice and bring peace. The story is shaped by the struggles and friendship of these two police officers.© FunimationWill there be a second season of Cop Craft? The anime’s studio, Millepensee, light novel publisher Shogakukan, or any anime-related company has not yet renewed the Cop Craft for a second season. We were also monitoring the news on the official Twitter account of the series, but as of October 2021, there is no promising news for a new season. The anime’s second season decisions depend on some major factors. Although there is no official news yet, we reviewed the light novel source material availability, popularity, and financial data to speculate for a second season. Let’s see together.Light Novel status in terms of a second seasonThe light novel, the original of the series, was written by Shoji Gatoh and illustrated by Range Murata, as we mentioned at the beginning of our article. The series does not have an English publisher yet, but the Japanese original has been published since 2009. Although it has not made a final yet, the last volume of the series was published in 2016 and contains six volumes in total. While the series was adapted into anime, many chapters in the light novel were skipped. Although it was adapted to the anime until the 6th volume, the stories in the first three volumes were not included. The three skipped volumes can be sufficient source material for a second season. However, this is up to the creators.Popularity and the other factors to see a second seasonWhen we look at Cop Craft’s evaluations, we see that it has a not-so-good rating of 6.72 in MA. But more importantly and influencing the decisions of the second season is the popularity. However, we do not see promising results in terms of popularity. The anime ranks 1603 in the MA popularity ranking and currently does not have a strong Google search popularity. When we look at the disc sales, we see that the anime sold only 289 discs, which is a sales figure that does not meet the financial targets. The absence of a distributor from which it will generate a high income and the fact that they have not published a game are also factors that reduce the chances of the second season. To be honest, we don’t expect to see a second season of the anime. Still, the anime world is full of surprises, and we may see a new season around 2023-2024 as there is enough source material available. However, this probability is quite low and is nothing more than speculation.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT: Cop Craft
Tumblr media
A special kind of team, this anime has some cool times between a human cop and alien (excuse me that was racist) Alternate world warrior so far. It moves like what it was named a cop in a world merged with some of the alternatives all trying to find there way within this new life they'll all be taking on. So far 4 episodes in and I love it.

In aggiunta, Houchu Ohtsuka interpreterà Zerada.
L’anime è diretto da Shin Itagaki (Teekyuu, Ulysses: Jeanne d'Arc and the Alchemist Knight) e prodotto presso lo studio Millepensee. Lo stesso Gatoh è stato coinvolto nel progetto in qualità di sceneggiatore.

J-Novel Club announced that it has licensed Shoji Gatoh's Full Metal Panic! light novel series. Unlike Tokyopop’s release, this will be a complete retranslation. J-Novel Club added it has licensed all 12 volumes of the main novel series, and stated that the release will "hopefully ... be successful enough to support the sequel AND spinoff series."

Oh no, it’s dumb. At least the action sequences are great.
I’ve watched the first handful of episodes of Second Raid and it’s both a big improvement but also even worse than first series. Plot-wise, I’m really hoping balding psycho guy isn’t the series-spanning villain because he sucks. FMP didn’t need another crazy psycho guy that’s unreasonably effective at shooting, mech piloting, and has henchman that he kills with casual glee but still follow him for some reason. He’s the worst aspects of Gauron, but even more painful to watch. Throw in some emotionless incest fanservice lesbian twins that fight like anime girls, in a series that’s otherwise fairly grounded in reality, and it’s evident Shoji Gatoh has a big problem when it comes to writing villains.
I’m dreading what the rest of the series’ plot is going to look like, but on the bright side, the animation is fantastic. The actions sequences are tight, with a lot of “close enough” real military tactics and communication practices. It’s easy to forget how dumb the plot is because the action sequences take up entire episodes and it’s nonstop tactical mechs operating tactically. It’s clear that Shoji Gatoh is big into real world military stuff, frequently inserting cool modern and near future tech like the Comanche. You got that feeling even with the Gonzo directed series, but KyoAni does a much better job of showing off that sort of thing.
For example, there’s a short series of shots where a couple Leclercs fire a killing shot on a mech. You’re then treated to a slow motion view of the sabot breaking up to reveal the kinetic penetrators. They didn’t have to do that, and the scene would have worked all the same if it was just a big animated tracer/bullet, but they went the extra mile.
They keep making me like Tessa more and more. In the first series she sometimes gives questionable tactical advice, but she absolutely knew her stuff when it came to the submarine itself. Though it’s not really her job to command operations (that’s Kalinin’s job), she has some really great scenes during the tunnel raid where she fairly quickly realizes that their digital maps and communication chain are compromised, and turns that on its head by listening to radio traffic and coordinating on a paper map. It’s great stuff. I love the tiny captain, and I love how professional and competent she is while “on the clock,” not falling prey to the so many typical anime tropes that her character suffers from when in private.
I’ve made it this far so I may as well see Second Raid through. I’m not sure if I’ll watch the third series, which only came out a couple years ago, since I’ve heard some really bad things about it. My expectations for the rest of Second Raid remain pretty low. There’s still a lot of unanswered questions I have from the first series but somehow I don’t think they’ll be answered.

Interview with “Full Metal Panic” Creator
Interview with Full Metal Panic Creator Hey gang! It has been really busy, but I still become aware of things from time to time. This time, the British anime distro company All the Anime did a video with Full Metal Panic creator, GATOH Shoji. They posted the SHORT, first part of the interview on YouTube.   I really wish they could go for a more in depth interview. We’ll see how many parts there…

Which Fate author made your favorite Servant?
Most of this list comes from Material books. Some of it comes from interviews. Please note that we don’t know every Servants creator, but I listed all the ones I could find.
Servants are listed in numerical order based on GO’s in-game list.
I am not listing Servants who are not in GO because that’d make this list even longer than it already is.
If a character is in GO but is not listed here I couldn’t find who created them. The Material books currently end at Fujino, so unless it’s really obvious Servants after her probably won’t have a known creator.
If a character was a collaborate effort they will be listed under both authors.

It is important to note that several of Higashide’s characters were from the scrapped beta plans for Apocrypha, which was originally going to be an online game like what GO is. A lot of authors made characters for it that got scrapped, and then when Higashide was hired to turn Apo into a book instead of a game he picked the scraps up and altered their abilities/personalities a bit, making them half his character and half the original’s.
