You know, normally as much as I like the human cast of Godzilla movies, I'm still thinking "who cares about these petty human problems, I want to see monsters destroy a city and fight each other" for half the movie. But the human characters in Godzilla Minus One really stole the show this time. I love them.

Looking forward to the Gozilla Minus One Sequal where Koichi and Noriko kill Godzilla with a mix of Ace Flying Skills and Noriko's new G-Cell powers.
It ends with them having a lovely cute picnic with Akiko, Sumiko, and the boys!

This movie is in my top 4 favorite movies. Godzilla Minus One struck me to my core. It's such an emotional movie and seeing it twice doesn't do it justice. The amount of love and effort put into this movie is amazing and I'm so proud this movie brought home Godzilla's first Oscar. If y'all haven't seen it, I promise you it's worth your time, and you should definitely get the blu-ray when it comes out in your area. Give this movie all of your love

It’s about Shikishima having a PTSD episode on the Shinseimaru and the crew dealing with it.
I do hope this fanbase grows…

Godzilla Minus One Review:
You can tell by the amount of emotional storytelling and having us feel through the pain of Koichi Shikishima as he balances the struggle of defending his country and saving his life; that director Takashi Yamazaki has taken notes from his famed inspiration of the Star Wars franchise and truly made possibly one of the best Godzilla films in franchise history. This science fiction masterpiece clocks in at over 2 hours and every second of it was spent on the edge of my seat.
Kamikaze pilots became an addition for the Japanese military during the closing moments of the war in the Pacific. One thing that the film highlights is the beginning stigma of kamikaze pilots who decided to live either by choice or due to their planes mechanical failures. That is the historical context set up we get in the beginning elements of the movie as Koichi decides to land his plane on Odo Island despite his plane not suffering from any mechanical damage. We also see the first instances of Godzilla as the monster attacks and kills the majority of the mechanical workers on Odo Island sparing Koichi himself and Sosaku Tachibana.
Godzilla’s ruthlessness was felt throughout the entire film from the moment the monster attacked the crew on Odo Island to his absolute destruction of the Ginza neighborhood in Tokyo which was undergoing rapid development. The scene where Noriko hangs from the train pole for dear life as Godzilla rips the train in half was just wild.
One thing i really enjoyed about this film is the character development of Koichi. In the beginning of the movie, he decides not to fulfill his kamikaze duties but after realizing the immense sacrifices that many Japanese people (not only pilots) have endured during the war and the Godzilla attacks, he dedicates his life to his “impromptu family” and realizes that he is willing to sacrifice himself to create a “better world” for his “daughter” Akiko. Tachibana immediately sees that Koichi understands the immense toll that war has, how kamikaze pilots never had that choice to live and creates an eject mechanism so that Koichi can have that choice to live. You can see his facial expressions throughout the film start from being in fear to being determined to save Japan.
I also love that they gave Shiro Mizushima a moment of shine as he coordinates backup for Kenji Noda’s plan to sink Godzilla into the ocean floor. The theater was clapping! The movie was paced extremely well and used every part of its 2 hour runtime to tell its story. Did not feel like there were any fillers or unnecessary scenes. The ending also really does leave the viewers thinking about the many different ways and theories that the film may continue through a possible sequel. I know not all films need a sequel but Please give us a sequel!!
There are so many parts to this film that I can go into detail about that make this one of my favorite Godzilla films. This film only had a $15 million dollar budget and yet superseded many action movies made this year in the United States including the comic book movies in DC/Marvel well known for their $200 million dollar plus budgets. Studios should take note.
I highly recommend this film especially for those who may not be familiar with the Godzilla story who would like an introduction into the kaiju portrayal of monsters in Japanese films.

Can they meet other characters? Like ocs??
OCS YOU SAY??? >:3
Little do you know, I've created a whole AU(?) in my head where the crew accidentally ends up in my OC's universe, and this just gives me an excuse to share it
I've heard like,, 2 people wanted me to draw my OCs meeting the Shinsei-Maru crew (excuse me if I got that name wrong) but buckle in! Because I have a hell of a bunch of things to say
So, the AU starts off with a boat trip gone wrong. How about the crew accidentally end up in a whirlpool of some description? I unno something along those lines. They believe they're gone for good until after their demise, where they wake up in a strange world that isnt their own.
Andrew Blyth + Kenji Noda
Tumblr media
The first two that meet are the two smartasses, Kenji and Andrew (Also his children - Amarisa and Dion). Kenji wakes up in a bed that isn't his own. He is confused until he sees two children staring at him - ones he doesn't know. Before he gets a chance to speak, the children beckon over presumably their father - a blonde angel. He doesn't look as if hes from this time frame, with a rather old timey-esque outfit. The first thing Kenji notices is that he's surrounded by a bunch of angels, which would understandably startle him. However, as they eventually calm the panicked human down, they begin to talk. To keep it short, they realise a couple of things.
1. Kenji and Andrew seem to have quite a few things in common
2. Kenji ended up in a strange world, and expresses concern about his friends. Seeing as Andrew's occupation consists of studying alternate universes, he reassures Kenji that it's likely they ended up elsewhere.
From then, Kenji is determined to find his friends.
Markus/Mazzul + Koichi Shikishima [+ Akiko]
Tumblr media
I haven't exactly decided how Akiko ends up there, but I would like I think Shikishima, Akiko, Markus(the angel) and Mazzul(the goat demon) should all meet. Of course, Like Kenji, upon first waking up in a strange place and seeing supernatural beings like these two, with Akiko in hand, he freaks out. Unlike Kenji who is just heavily concerned, Shikishima is terrified (which notably makes Akiko terrified too, seeing her father fearing for his life). Both Markus and Mazzul reassures Koichi that they aren't going to harm him, despite it being Mazzul's job (Mazzul isn't that interested in collecting human souls since they're more fragile in my universe). As so, they begin to speak with the angel and demon asking about Akiko, where they are and where Koichi came from etc. It's also revealed that Mazzul and Markus were once both in the war as American Soldiers, which concerns Koichi but hey, the war is over. Koichi begins to lightly mention the same thing about him ending up somewhere and his friends being elsewhere. Despite Mazzul's hesitation, Markus suggests they should go look for them. Koichi is eager and despite Mazzul's reluctance due to how dangerous it might be, with Mazzul having a theory of where he could be, he agrees to follow along. But only to stick by Markus and make sure he doesn't get harmed.
Sam Blyth + Shirō Mizushima
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next up, Shiro and Sam. Now, when Shiro first meets Sam, it's Sam who is rather scared. Sam hates meeting new people as the idea terrifies them, but Shiro's goal is to reassure Sam that he isn't a threat, in which he manages. Sam begin to quietly question Shiro on how a random human ended up in their house, and he, of course, explains. Afterwards, Sam suggests that his friends might be around and-- you get the idea. However, Id say throughout their journey, they become best friends :3 I mean,, they are both quite a bit younger than their peers and is seemed weak, but is quickly thought to be underestimated. They bond quite a bit, and seem to get along together really well.
Discord Holloway + Yōji Akitsu
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Imagine waking up in a random castle locked up by a demon, just to find that when he's not working, he is very immature and talks a lot compared to when he's working where he's actually terrifying? Thats where Akitsu has ended up at least. Unlike the others, he doesn't have the sort of luck they did. Discord immediately sees him as an intruder and locks him up (It's also extra fun when he's a human, as theyre less likely to successfully fight back. Discord's opinion, not mine :<). He thinks he's going to be in danger but instead, the demon just talk a LOT. Which is arguably worse than death in Akitsu's eyes.
Anyways yada yada they all meet up, heartfelt moment, they find out Akitsu's with Discord, they save the day and get them out safely and Andrew takes them back home, yknow, the cliche stuff. I dont have much to say about this part.
However, it's definitely an experience they'd remember.
Anyways, that's that! Thank you so much for the ask :3 Ive spent 3 days on this and had lots of fun making it :O
It was an awesome way to introduce my OCs to my Tumblr acc too.

La Corda d'Oro and its Saints Part 2: July to December
Here’s the second part of some of the characters from La Corda d'Oro, and here they are!
July 5th - Mari Tsuzuki
St. Anthony Maria Zaccaria: Italian confessor who was an early leader of the Counter Reformation, promoter of the devotion to the Passion of Christ, the Eucharist and the renewal of the religious life among the lay people, and is the founder of the Clerics Regular of St. Paul aka the Barnabites. Canonized as a saint by Pope Leo XIII in 1897, his major shrine can be found at San Paolo convent in Milan.
July 8th - Shiro Hozumi
St. Grimbald (Grimwald): Abbot and confessor from the Benedictine order. Although of dubious historical accuracy, the life of Grimbald was recorded in several volumes, of which the main source is referred to as the Vita Prima of St. Grimbaldi. King Alfred met Grimbald before his reign, and after his coronation invited Grimbald to England around 892. After he died in 901, he was venerated as a saint and confessor, and some altars were dedicated to him. He also figures in a number of legendary tales of Oxford.
July 25th - Ryoutaro Tsuchiura
St. James the Greater: One of the twelve apostles of Christ and is described as one of the first disciples to join Jesus. The Synoptic Gospels state that James and his brother John, were with their father Zebedee, by the seashore when Jesus called them to follow him. He is the first apostle to be martyred at the hands of King Herod Agrippa according to the Acts of the Apostles. The traditional pilgrimage to the grave of the saint, known as the ’Way of St. James’, has been the most popular pilgrimage for Western European Catholics from the Early Middle Ages onwards. An even later tradition states that he miraculously appeared to fight for the Christian army during the legendary battle of Clavijo, and was henceforth called Santiago Matamoros (James the Moor-slayer).
August 21st - Housei Toki
Pope St. Pius X: 257th bishop of Rome who reigned for 11 years, and is known for vigorously opposing modernist interpretations of Catholic doctrine, promoting liturgical reforms and orthodox theology. He directed the production of the 1917 Code of Canon Law, the first comprehensive and systemic work of its kind. He was devoted to the Marian title of Our Lady of Confidence; while his papal encyclical Ad diem illum took on a sense of renewal that was reflected in the motto of his pontificate and he was also advanced the Liturgical Movement as the only Pope to favor the use of the vernacular language in teaching catechesis, he encouraged the frequent reception of holy communion, and he lowered the age for First Communion, which became a lasting innovation of his papacy. After his death, a strong cult of devotion followed his reputation of piety and holiness.
August 26th - Keiichi Shimizu
St. Alexander of Bergamo: He is the patron of Bergamo, North Italy, as well as Capriate San Gervasio and Cervignano d'Adda. He may simply have been a Roman soldier or resident of Bergamo who was tortured and killed for not renouncing his Christian faith. Details of his life are uncertain, but subsequent Christian stories consider him a centurion of the Theban Legion commanded by St. Maurice.
September 3rd - Yukihiro Yagisawa
Pope St. Gregory the Great: 64th bishop of Rome who reigned for 13 years and is the last imperial Roman Pope. He is the first formally to employ the titles Servus servorum Dei (‘Servant of the servants of God’) and Pontifex Maximus ('greatest priest’). He is also establish the Gregorian chant and is known as 'the Father of Christian Worship’.
October 1st - Chiaki Tougane
St. Thérèse of Lisieux: French virgin, mystic, and nun from the Discalced Carmelites and is known for the monicker, ’The Little Flower’. She has been a highly influential model of sanctity for Catholics and for others because of the simplicity and practicality of her approach to the spiritual life. Together with Francis of Assisi, she is one of the most popular saints in the history of the church and she is called her 'the greatest saint of modern times’ by Pope Pius X. She is well-known throughout the world, with the Basilica of Lisieux being the second most popular place of pilgrimage in France after Lourdes. According to the Apostolic Letter, Divini Amoris Scientia (The Science of Divine Love), Pope St. John Paul II declared her the Doctor of the Church on October 19th, 1997.
October 17th - Shinobu Ousaki
St. Ignatius of Antioch: Early Christian writer, bishop of Antioch, martyr and one of the Church Fathers alongside St. Clement and St. Polycarp. He may have known the apostle John directly, and his thought is certainly influenced by the tradition associated with this apostle. En route to his martyrdom in Rome, Ignatius wrote a series of letters which have been preserved as an example of the theology of the earliest Christians. He is the second after Clement to mention the Pauline epistles.
November 3rd - Shoko Fuyuumi
St. Martin de Porres: Known for his monicker, ’Saint of the Broom’, he is a Dominican lay brother from Peru and is noted for his work on behalf of the poor, establishing an orphanage and a children’s hospital. He maintained an austere lifestyle, which included fasting and abstaining from meat. Among the many miracles attributed to him were those of levitation, bilocation, miraculous knowledge, instantaneous cures, and an ability to communicate with animals, hence his attributes that is saw in his holy card. He is the patron of hairstylists, mixed-race people, innkeepers, public health workers, and all those seeking racial harmony.
November 12th - Aoi Kaji
St. Josaphat Kuntsevych: Archeparch of Polotsk who martyred by an angry mob in Vitebsk Voivodeship in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (now in Belarus). Beatified by Pope Urban VIII and canonized as a saint by Pope Pius IX. He is known as the patron saint of Ukraine.
November 14th - Leiji Myoga
St. Lorcán Ua Tuathail (Laurence O'Toole): Irish archbishop at the time of Ireland’s Norman invasion, and is played a prominent role in the Irish Church Reform Movement of the 12th century and mediated between the parties during and after the invasion. In 1225, Pope Honorius III canonized him as a saint.
December 3rd - Arata Mizushima
St. Francis Xavier: Along with Ignatius of Loyola, he is the co-founder of the Society of Jesus (aka Jesuits). Known as the ’Apostle to the Far East’, he is one of the first seven Jesuits who took vows of poverty and chastity at Montmartre, Paris, in 1534, and led an extensive mission into Asia, mainly in the Portuguese Empire of the time and was influential in evangelization work, most notably in India. He also was the first Christian missionary to venture into Japan, Borneo, the Maluku Islands, and other areas. In those areas, struggling to learn the local languages and in the face of opposition, he had less success than he had enjoyed in India. Canonized as a saint by Pope Gregory XV in 1622, he is the patron saint of foreign missions. Pope Pius XI published the decree ’Apostolicorum in Missionibus’, naming Francis Xavier, along with Thérèse of Lisieux as co-patrons of all foreign missions.
December 12th - Kazuki Hihara
Our Lady of Guadalupe (Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe): A Marian title that is associated with a venerated image (in the form of a tilma by St. Juan Diego) enshrined within the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. On October 1895, Pope Leo XIII granted the image a Canonical Coronation. Since then the Virgin of Guadalupe has been proclaimed ’Queen of Mexico’, ’Patroness of the Americas’, ‘Empress of Latin America’, and ’Protectress of Unborn Children’. On July 16th 1935, she was also proclaimed ’Heavenly Patroness of the Philippines’ by Pope Pius XI both witnessed and signed by Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli, a designation he later rescinded in 1942 upon becoming Pius XII.
December 29th - Daichi Sakaki
St. Thomas Becket: English Archbishop and martyr who was well educated and quickly became an agent to Theobald, Archbishop of Canterbury, who sent him on several missions to Rome. Becket’s talents were noticed by Henry II, who made him his chancellor and the two became close friends. When Theobald died in 1161, Henry made Becket archbishop. Becket transformed himself from a pleasure-loving courtier into a serious, simply-dressed cleric. In 1170, four knights, believing the king wanted Becket out of the way, confronted and murdered Becket in Canterbury Cathedral.
