i think this is about that one tweet from a magazine, can't remember if it's nyt or wapo or something else, how some people found their rolex in the ashes after the fires, and whatever the actual article was (didn't read it), the tweet itself was pretty dumb
i just found the tweet. it wasn't an article at all it was just him tweeting. what i think they're also talking about is one of the updates he wrote on the general nyt page about the situation which was about residents looking in the ashes of their apartment building, and one woman had found a diamond earring. but a few sentences later he also mentions a couple found the urn with their dog's ashes. like sorry that's a run of the mill human interest story and not even as it's own article.
tbh like there is plenty valid criticism to be had of how outlets like the nyt report on issues like this, but its hard not to see this kind of overly simplistic outrage engagement as another lazy entry in the weird anti-nyt culture war nonsense popular on tik tok rn, which is just as reactionary as the conservative anti-nyt culture war stuff
like the fact is that the nyt's actual coverage of the maui wildfire looks like this:
like not going off on you or anything. it's just really obnoxious to see this kind of reactionary sentiment among a population (very online teens and young people) that already struggles with media literacy and just. reading the actual news. its easy to get mad over a dumb viral tweet but who is that helping?

I think you’re a radical feminist or somewhere in that realm, but I can’t really tell because I’m somewhat new to tumblr and your blog, however you make some good ass posts here and there so I started to follow you. Anyway I’m wondering if you have any radfem blog recommendations that aren’t so…transphobic💀 lmao I’m sorry like I get radical feminism and being gender critical and that means trans people will sometimes be discussed, but some people will say some really mean things about trans people and gnc people too and I don’t like that stuff. Plus there is so much to talk about radical feminism that doesn’t have to do with trans people and I wanna see different stuff/topics discussed. I know tejuina’s blog which is really good and radicallyaligned. I don’t know if you have recommendations but maybe your followers can also give me some? I am good with blogs in English and Spanish.
ya I don't really follow many outright feminist or rad feminist blogs on here so these recs are mostly women who sometimes discuss feminist topics in a serious way (some are personal blogs, but so is mine). not an exhaustive list, just a few off my head. @kitchenalia @shirkers2018dirsanditan @kittyit @inqilabi @greenwire @invertprivileges @kiefbowl @feministclassicist @magnetictapedatastorage
of course there's many more blogs I like but these users discuss feminist topics specifically and often. and imo say a lot of valuable and interesting things. @tejuina is also fantastic but you know of her already. all these women make me think and question myself (-:

lmao exactly, like by circumstance i do happen to go out by myself a lot bc none of my friends live in my town, and some live in diff countries even, so i often go to a cafe or restaurant alone, cinema, theater, music festivals or concerts, other festivals and events, trips and such etc etc etc, im often alone. but i have literally never in my life been approached by anyone other than old people asking for help with their phones lmao. like that kind of advice is so useless sometimes like do they hear themselves speaking/read what they wrote. and i don't consider myself that repulsive, looks or personality wise, that people are deliberately avoiding me, i guess I'm just not an inviting approachable person and or attracting attention. and otoh i can approach people just fine for small talk or something similarly superficial for lack of a better word, but it stays at that. there's one popular post here that just sounds so condescending attempting to offer some advice on making friends, like wow, never thought that i could just talk to people, mind blown 🙄 like sometimes life just sucks a little bit and even if you're not a shut-in loner, making friends and finding dates or a partner just doesn't happen easily or sometimes at all.
right like. i guess in theory people are friendly but in reality they're not really lol. like generally friendly but not FRIENDly. or at least not for me. ever since i moved to texas with my family in 2010 i have had this persistent feeling as though everyone already has their own friends and nobody is really looking for new ones. and yeah that's not true but like. sure feels that way LMAO
